deli department
We ordered a broasted chicken, one pound of wings and steakhouse potato salad to have dinner with our grandsons, (13, 9 and 18 months old). The wings were so dried out we could not eat them! The potatoe salad had a 3" stem looking think that my 9 year old grandson had to spit out!
I called the store directly and spoke with the night manager and he did apologize and offered replacements, (NO THANKS), or a refund.
This is not the first time we have had issues with the deli Dept at store #3080 in South Plainfield! When we have gone back for a refund we are met with attitude and no apology.
I'm never allowing my grandchildren to eat Jewel chicken or salads again. My husband and I will look for somewhere else to purchase chicken.

expired products
In the month of July I have visited the store two times, both time I have came home with expired food. The first occasion was expired juice boxes, the second was expired banquet frozen meals. The juice boxes expired by a few months but the meals expired by a year and 3 months. I visit this store a few times every month and am very upset by the recent purchases I have made.

Assistant Manage/Butcher
To whom it may concern,
My name is Darryl Alexander and I am an employee at Jewels Osco 95th and Stony Island store 3092. I have been wrongfully suspended for two weeks. I am an Assistant Manager who has been wrongfully suspended and have been off work for two weeks with no pay. It has been over disagreement with another employee at the store and it was in the Grocery back room and not on the sales floor. The security was not present at the time.. My store directer told me and the other employee to go by to our work stations and he didn't take any steps in a suspension. He told us to not worry about it and go back to work. An hour later, a security Guard who was not only not present at the time of the issue, but also was off this day came to tell me I was suspended and this was two weeks ago. I am very upset with this because not only did I not get any say so in this matter, I am also a Assistant meat Department Manger, who has been with this company for over 12 years and i have never had a problem like this occur. Also I am paying my sick mother's hospital bills and now that I'm not working i can't afford to pay her bills while she is sick. Please someone reach out to me and help me get back to my job a.s.a.p.

store #3341
Good evening, I normally do not complain about many things but store #3341 for the past 6 months or so has gone down hill with garbage in it's parking lot, store appearance, shelves poorly stocked and the produce has been almost to the point of rotten. Being a former Jewel employee many years ago I am surprised that this has been allowed to happen. Feel free to contact me with any questions at [protected]@aol.com.
Have a good day.
Sincerely,
Christine Bohnen
fried chicken
Super disappointed in my 8 piece chicken purchase. They were the SMALLEST pieces ever. Looked more like a Cornish hen! The drumstick was the size of a wing. I would have returned but it was dinner. I feel I should receive a credit for this purchase as it was nothing like we usually have gotten in the past. I have a picture if needed that was included below.
baby bella mushrooms stuffed with fiesta cheese blend
We bought this item at the 520 N Desplaines St. location on Monday, July 9th around 9:30pm. After unfolding the wrapping off the item we found it was old, and rotten and each mushroom was filled with fungus. We immediately tried to contact a manager at the location. We spoke to a man named Orlando, and he showed no remorse throughout the entire conversation. He told us to just throw it away and that he would refund us whenever we come in. Showing no remorse, and the worst attitude I was extremely repulsed by his poor customer service skills and attitude. I told him I would hate to share this on my social media, and he told me to go ahead showing no remorse or care whatsoever. I tried asking for his name, and he said he does not want to provide me with it and that I do not need to know his position. Full of rage and attitude, I am surprised this person is a manager responsible for a reputable grocery store. I would hate to contact my lawyer if I do not receive the remedy I want for this horrific experience. I am still trying to wash my hands to get rid of the atrocious and rotten smell. However, the intensity of the smell does not compare to the hatred in Orlando's voice, and the efforts that I made to come to a settlement. Unfortunately, he did not wish to negotiate and instead hung up on me. I tried calling back to get a supervisors email or phone number, but I was just put on hold without any response. It's going to take a lot more than a refund to remedy my experience.
customer service
I shopped at the Jewel on York in Elmhurst and was treated unfairly by Cindy at the service desk. She completely ignored me and checked out a different customer. I asked her if she saw me. She said "I don't look on that side of the counter. I only look on this side of the counter." I asked for the store manager to report this very unpleasant incident. His name is Keith. He said he would review the video and get back to me. When he did, he stuttered saying, " I handled the situation according to store policy, " of wich he refused to share with me. Instead he told me that I am supposed to take his word that he handled it. I was not pleased with that answer. When I called the corporate office they told me that when Ithey tried to reach Keith's boss they got a fast busy. This is the 21st century and customer service, without racism, is expected. I am reporting this to the BBN.
handicap carts
Jewel at 4734 N. Cumberland. I shop here every week. The last three weeks in a row I have a cart that dies in the middle of my shopping. This has been happening for weeks now and is getting worse. These carts are evidently not plugged in at night because I always go in the morning. I have complained to the front end person many times about this. Also, all the carts should be in one area. They have some carts on one side of the store and some on the other side. The reason I use a cart is because I cannot walk far. I come in one side and they are on the other side and visa versa. The should always be on one side so that the people who need them know where to find them. They have one cart that has been broken for weeks.
I hate to have to go all the way to Mariano's to shop as their carts are always in one area facing out and always plugged in.
service
I went into the jewel this afternoon and bought the wrong item, paid $3.49 and plus tax and brought it home, had to go back and exchange the item and the girl, her name was Juliana and she was extremely impatient, selfish, and very rude due to the fact that the item I pulled off the shelf was the exact price of $3.49 and I asked for it to be the same price and she was VERY RUDE and I will never shop at jewel again! The customer service STINKS!
general store
My biggest complaint is your store stocks their shelves every friday. No matter what time of the day, I have issues being able to get through the isles. The palos heights store is always packed on friday afternoon. Today there were at least 5 or 6 people waiting in long lines.
I know there is a shortage of good help, but this store is causing me not to continue shopping there.
If I need to I will post pictures. Today would have been a good day.
racist experience in store 3185
I was doing instacart in store 3185 I approached Laura register and she ask for my ID for Liquor purchase and as instructed by instacart to show customer ID which is on the which I did she said what the hell is instacart in a very unprofessional ignorant tone I requested a manger as she walked away she and I quote you people me being an African American very racist and she was a whole woman as the store manager listened I walked over to store manger Raul Avila and he totally dismissed me and ignored me as if I wasn't standing there most horrible experience ever
customer service
I am an very good customer of JewelOsco. However the store on 75th S Stony Island seems to lack good management. It seems no matter the day or time I go to this store it's unorganized. There's never enough cashier's or baggers. The isles are always filled with someone putting stock up. This is a small store and it needs to be better managed. This is the store that a lot of older people and people with disabilities shop. Please consider my concerns because this store is in my community and I'm asking for change so that I may experience the same kind of organization that are in your smaller stores in other neighborhoods. Thank you
I am complaining about a cashier named, d'jhannie, at the westchester, il location
On june 24, 2018, I purchased peaches from the jewel in north riverside, il, for $3.58. I put the peaches in a brown paper bag to ripen, however, they never did get ripe enough to eat. I returned all five peaches to the westchester, il jewel today 7-2-18, for a refund. The cashier at the service desk informed me that the peaches weighed less than they did when I purchased them so I would receive a lesser amount for the refund, which was okay but as the cashier d'jhannie, I don't know her last name, but her initials are (db) took the money from the register, I asked her am I receiving only a dollar and some change, because if that was all I was going to receive I would've returned them to the jewel where I purchased them and she said to me very rudely, I didn't take the rest of the money out and then she rudely pushed the receipt to me for a signature. After I signed the receipt she slammed the money in my hand and walked away. I said "your welcome" and she said, what am I thanking you for? And I said because I am a paying customer and I spend a lot of money here and do not appreciate being treated like a second class citizen. However it shouldn't matter if I spend $1.00, or thousands, I don't deserve to be treated in that manner and it's unacceptable. I complained to the manager on duty, sherrie lee, and she informed me she would talk to her. However, she never left the register. I've been shopping at jewel for more than 30 years and never encountered such rudeness everyone is always pleasant and eager to help, but her attitude and rudeness was reprehensible.
Kind regards,
Vivian bailey

customer service
Hello I always shop at the jewel in Oak Forest IL. Typical Sunday afternoon I stop in there to buy toilet paper and went to go cash out and thr cashier name stephanie told me that the Express lane was open I told her it's fine I'll wait here then she had the nerve to tell me wow you must really need this toilet paper really bad. I didnt like this one bit I will never be shopping here again cuz of her I rather drive the extra 15 mins and go to the other jewel down the street.
false advertisement
False advertisement- Came to Jewel on Roosevelt and Canal at 3:00 am to shop for a sales ad that only last 4 days but upon shopping I notice a couple of items that was displaying different prices. Took the items to the register to purchase and none of them was on sale. Told the manager (Carlos) who work overnight and his response was I can only give you one for that price.
skirt steak
I shop at Jewel on 4734 N Cumberland Ave in Chicago and went there for the one day skirt steak sale for 3.99 on Saturday, June 23 about 1:30. When I got there the butcher was at lunch and the skirt steak was sold out. The man there said he was just the clerk and could not tell me if they were giving rain checks, not even the manager of the store could tell me if they were giving rain checks, only the butcher because he is in charge of the meat. I waited for the butcher to come back from lunch for about 20min, by this time there were about seven people waiting and they found a case of skirt steak. He said it would take about a half hour to cut the steak and run it through a machine. I waited for the steak and asked him if it was trimmed, he said as much as the machine would take off. Yesterday, I took the meat out of the package and out of 7lbs of meat I probably took off 2lbs of fat and the back and the vein. It took me about 45min to clean this meat and I still didn't get a lot off. I didn't expect it to be fat free but the back and the vein is very hard to get out and why, when I purchase it from Tony's and Mariano's they are able to get that off? Do they have different machines than Jewel?
I shop at this Jewel quite often and I am very disappointed in the attitude and service of the butcher dept.
lack of service
Sunday. June 24, 2018 There were 3 checkout lines opened in jewel store 187. There were 30 or more people lined up in each of the 3 check out lines. I waited in line 30 minutes before I was checked out by a cashier.
Never again will I shop at that store. It is actually a lovely well stocked grocery store but my experience was horrible. There is no excusr for the shabby service. Many people got tired of waiting in line and walked out of thr store.
In talking with others, I was told the service of that store is always poor.
Hopefully, this will not happen again.

chicago bag tax
Hi my name is lynette gibson. I was shopping at the jewels store located at 443 e 34th st in chicago. I was charged 10 cent for the thin white jewel bags. I was told by the supervisor that the chicago bag tax went up by 3 cents. I explained to her that i wasnt aware of that. The city of chicago did not post that. She told me that the black re-usable bags are 20 cents. I called a different jewels store when i got home and they told me that the bags are still 7 cents and the black bags are 10 cents. The store manager for that store is making his own prices and not following chicago ordinance . Contact me [protected]@sbcglobal.Net
please see the attach receipts below and the city bag tax ordinance sample receipt.
