Debbie E rang up my groceries today. I have never left Jewel so angry actually. She was unwelcoming, rude, and unpleasant in general. Not only did she almost completely ignore me, I noticed as I was loading my groceries that she ripped open my bag of powdered sugar and opened my tofu which contains water to keep it fresh, making a huge mess all over me and my daughter. I didn't have time or patience to go back in. Of course I will be back, I just didn't feel respected today.
door soliciting
I went to Jewel today in Antioch, my preferred store as my daughter works for Jewel. I was running into the store to get some things and there were. Gaggle of kids at both entrances begging for money. I can't stand that... I don't go there to have this shoved down my throat. Set them up somewhere else, If I want to donate, I'll come to you. I do not need to be asked on the way in and way out. So, goodbye Jewel, you've lost this customer who has been going there since the early 70's.
Does this make me a jerk, I don't really care.
clarendon hills customer service
I have been shopping at the local Jewel store for 25 years - even though many newer, nicer stores have opened nearby, I have been a loyal customer.
Today (Saturday, June 2nd) I was shopping with my son. When we approached the checkout lanes we quickly noticed that the store was not equipped to handle typical Saturday shopping (as it often is not). We put the cart in a very long line (only 2 open for large orders) and I approached the service counter to get more checkers.
Finally, we were next - all of our groceries were on the counter and the man ahead of us was attempting to pay. BUT the new system was not accepting his credit card. A helper was called to help. He could not get it to work so he VERY ABRUPTLY looked at me and told me to move to Aisle 8. No apology, no offer to help me - not even an accommodation to be next in line - just "Move to Aisle 8." I almost left everything on the counter and left! SO RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY.
Today may have been "the straw that broke the camel's back" for me. Pete's Fresh Market will open soon. I may need to find a store with manners.
By the way - our checker and the bagger on duty were very apologetic.
Sincerely,
Char Larson
spoiled silk milk from 5/19/18 purchased it on memorial day
I am manager of food service and Im outrage from the way the store manager handle the situation just about 1 hr ago when I presented him with my complaint. I arrive at the location of Irving park and Narraganset and spoke to the store manager and explain that I bought a spoiled milk on Monday and I told him I open it and drank it this morning and I asked him you know what could happen to me I can get food poisoning and he said not really milk last a long time I said really look at what date it spoiled May 19, 2018 and look at what today's date it is he stood there and saw my angry face and said unacceptable. to top it off he said so what you want to do then your money back or get another milk, I said get another one and he said okay go get it . never in my life have I been treat it like this at Jewels and love Jewels even have a good friend Shawn working there and he would of never ever dismiss a customer concern like that, as if a 13 day spoiled milk cant kill you!. I personally would of never made the customer go get the product my employee fail to verify and certainly would of refund the all of the money and still gave her the money or at least a credit on the store. Very disappointing and lets hope I get sick OR you will hear from my lawyers.
glacier filtered water dispenser
Twice now I have seen several months pass between servicing on this dispenser. The most recent service was performed on 3/22/18. As a result, it is beginning to grow slime mold and is generally filthy. Considering submitting a complaint to the local health department if the situation is not rectified. This has been the main supply of drinking water for my family for years and I am saddened by the growing negligence.
produce and meat
I have been back to the Jewel in Oswego for refunds three times already because the fruit or the meat is always going bad or turning brown within 2 days whereas when I shop at other stores I never have this problem so today for a fourth time I had to call them again and tell them the problems I'm having which unfortunately my husband threw away the product so I did not have it this time to bring back however they didn't offer anything either so my only choice now is to stop shopping at Jewel. and i shop every week and spend anywhere from $200-$300 weekly, so i am also a repeat customer.
bucket of honey wings
I purchased a bucket of honey wings on Friday, 5/19/18. The wings were as hard as a rock! Because the pan was nearly empty, the Jewel employee as me if she could substitute the rest of the honey wings with hot wings. I complied. My other issue that
despite having a number system, the employee asked who was next, and of course the person who was next tried to cut in front of the person who was next as well as myself. I had to ask the woman, what is the purpose of having a number system, and you won't call numbers? I would like a refund!
Today is Aug 23 2022 My wife went to the store and I asked her to get me some honey wings. She came home with these wings that were horrible and obvious not the honey wings Jewel has been serving for years. Called up to complain and was told we changed our honey wings months ago. Jewel cares so little about their customers that they did not let anybody know they changed them. I tasted the new wings and promptly threw them in the garbage. I felt like my wife went to Jewel and got robbed without a game. Jewel has proven time and time again that they do not give two cares about their customers.
wic eligibility item discrepancy
This evening I was at my local Jewel purchasing WIC items. I am very familiar with eligible items and I had two dozens of brown grade A eggs. This item is on the approved WIC list USDA government of approved items (Attch 1) the cashier asked two other associates and finally a manager Kathy came and said that her training says brown eggs aren't allowed. I asked her to reference the paper where the WIC guidelines are and she said that it "doesn't matter". I found her to be rude and she was not considerate as she seemed to be having a long day or tired.
hiring people of color
I am a very loyal customer with jewel and on a average I spend close to 200.00 per week. I have the receipts stating that. I see hiring signs on the doors every time I enter and I live in the neighbor. My grandson applied at the store and went for the interview and was told that he would receive a call back. I suggest that he call to address the status and he was told that they were going "another direction". My question is what direction is that! I see kids hired there all the time and none of color! My grandson is 19 years old an honor student in his freshman year of college, no history of bad behavior nor criminal record. I'm upset that he can't given be given a chance because it's apparent that the person that interviewed him is bias and racist! I really feel that this should be addressed as I will look into what avenues I need to talk to address this matter.
The store is jewels in frankfort illinois on lagrange
So you are calling the person racist because of the color of their skin?! You are judging someone, based on their skin color. THINK ABOUT THAT!
watermelons sale
I went to buy watermelon when you were out. So I got a rain check may 9th. On May 15th went to get watermelon and found out it was 1 day sale. When I asked Frank about watermelon je said he worked Sunday and Monday and there was NO way I had a rain check. He basically called me a liar. I got very upset and did speak to Mr Allen. What kind of customer service is this. Now your employees treat customers like this.
osco pharmacy - forehead and ear thermometer
On Wednesday 5/16/18, I picked up a Rx for my baby at the Osco Pharmacy located at 2775 Pfingsten Rd in Glenview, IL. He was running a fever and I needed an accurate thermometer (was having a hard time getting an accurate read with a regular thermometer) so I grabbed the last forehead and ear thermometer on the shelf which was marked on sale for $27.99 (see picture). The box look a bit damaged (faded in color and a stain on the back) but was sealed so I purchased it anyway because it was the last one (see picture of product) I checked out at the pharmacy along with my prescription and a bottle of infant tylenol. When I got home and opened the product it didn't work so I replaced the batteries. The forehead scan read 94 degrees celcius when the baby was running a 102 fever previously. When I took off the cap to try the ear scan, I noticed the product had clearly been used with ear wax build up on the end. Unfortunately, I only had the pharmacy print-out and not the store receipt. At customer service, I was told the pharmacy could look it up since it was purchased there. I went to the pharmacy and asked for the manager where I was told I was at fault since I bought a damaged product. She said "Why would you buy something that looked like this?" I explained that it was the last one and I needed it. She said her hands were tied because their systems would not allow the return. While I understand having a return policy and take responsibility for losing my receipt, I should not be out $30 for an unsanitary, used, defective product that was sold to me and should not have been put in this place. I have been a loyal customer of the pharmacy and the Jewel store at Pfingsten/Willow and don't appreciate the way I was treated. I would like a full refund because this product should not have been put on the shelves and sold to me in the first place.
pharmacy and not able to get my medicine
Yesterday, Thursday May 17th, I went into this store which I always do at 10:40 pm to pick up my prescription. When I walked through the doors I noticed a sign stating they were closing at 11 pm for a computer changeover. So I went by the pharmacy and two workers for the computers told me to go to the other window because they were blocking the way to the pickup window. The pharmacist came out and asked what I needed. I said I came to pick up my medicine. He said I am sorry but everything's been put back because of this upgrade and to come back in the morning when they open. I told him I had no idea they were doing this, I got a call earlier telling me my prescription was ready. He said if I really needed it tonight that I could drive to another Jewel. I said I wanted to talk to a manager which I did upfront and she said sorry the signs have been up for a week I should have seen it. I said I never did plus I wasn't shopping there for a number of days. Why didn't they tell me when I was called earlier? And furthermore since when is a computer upgrade more important than a customers medicine? Bad business. I am transferring my prescription from Osco and I don't know if I am shopping there anymore. This store is filthy at night, poorly stocked on produce and other things. And your prices are higher than anyone else. Its a shame, we lost Dominicks and with the way you are going you could be next. You need to correct the way you handle customers at your stores and make us number 1 and give us the quality we deserve. I would like an answer to my complaint. Thank you.
the service here needs much improvement.
I have been having issues with this store for a year now. There isn't anyone there that cares about the customers. The deli department has 2 good people and produce has maybe 3 good people. Never any basic produce. The deli department has 2 good people the rest are lazy! There's never any breakfast items such as bacon sausage it's very inconsistent and quite frankly annoying when you have to wait for them to go get some that is frozen when you get it. The bakery is the most unpleasant experience when you need to ask questions as if I'm bothering them. This store either needs a new manager in ALL departments or a new store manager who can control the store in a proper manner. They only have 2 lines open 1 is 15 items or less the other one is for regular. This is ridiculous how you are treated as a customer. You might say go to another store and I agree I think it might be a time for change. I've been a loyal customer for 30 years but I guess like everyone else it just doesn't matter to any of you! Hopefully you can change this store because I saw 3 people leave due to the line being up an isle. The store is located at Milwaukee and Oakton!
Get all new managers who actually care!
pharmacy
I am a diabetic who takes insulin. In Illinois it is legal to purchase humulin R and up to 20 insulin syringes without a prescription, otc. I buy them at the Jewel-osco pharmacy often with no problem, but this morning the pharmacist refused to sell them to me. The tech on staff who knows about my situation refused to speak up on my behalf, I've emailed corporate before about being denied syringes at the Hovey-Cottage location. I told the pharmacist, GM, and pharmacy tech this, but the GM refused to even consider the fact that the tech had been reprimanded before, THE TECH STOOD THERE SILENT AS I EXPLAINED AND PLEADED. Just last year she was involved in this same scenario with me and has handed me packs of insulin syringes before but acted like she didn't know me today. Why won't they sell them to me? It's offensive and embarrassing to be publicly denied medical devices. It's been the law since 2003. Stop making me drive across town when I live across the street from a perfectly good pharmacy.. right before I walked away she told me she was only allowed to sell them to me if I bought a bottle of humulin R for $180. I told her Novolin R is $22 at Walmart and I already had a bottle in my fridge. She replied, "well, you need to get your syringes when you buy the medicaton then". There are over 500 shots in a 10mL bottle, she's a pharmacist she knows this. So if I buy a bottle of insulin at jewel must I also buy the accompanying *500* syringes then and there too? She'll sell me 500 syringes? So I drove across town with high blood sugar all the way to Walmart just to get a 10 pack of them with no issue. I ate breakfast with the expectation that I could take my meds after walking across the street to Osco. I'm trying to eat cleaner and do more cardio, but what my doc says goes and when he says, "yeah jog over to jewel after your run at white oak park and get your needles, this is your lifestyle now" it makes your pharmacist look 100% insensitive to diabetes. I've never had a problem anywhere else in the entire state after buying them for years. Let me know if I can get them at your store without also buying insulin there. I just want a simple response. I know I'm writing emotionally but it's actually a dangerous scenario.
pricing, product placement and availability
Went shopping before 9 am go Jewel on Lee Street in Des Plaines.
Store out of chocolate covered strawberries advertised.
Store out of Simply Potatoes, all varieties.
Had Fannie Mae Chocolates priced $5.99, buy one get one free. Discovered on arriving home was charged $5.99 for one and $19.99 for the other.
Very upset by this misleading signage and poor stocking.
customer service
I went to the store tonight to pick up baby formula with my wic coupons and I forgot to sign the book. And I processed to complain I just got it and forgot to sing it but they had my sign a paper and looked at my Driver license. And still gave me a problem! And this all happen in front a huge crowd. I have never felt so embarrassed In my whole life! Me and my family lived here over 50 years and always shopped at the store in Hoffman estates Il on Roselle road! But after tonight I will never ever go back in there after what just happen! I work retail along with half my family and they even said how wrong that was and how your employees should of went about it in a different way unless you guys just don't care about your customers? It's hard being a single mom let alone being on wic and to have everyone around staring was so humiliating ! I will makesure to let all my family know what happen tonight and friends and hopefully they will never shop with you guys again! And on top of all that a lot of people know my family around here because we lived here so long but also my brother is a hoffman police offer so the last thing I need is for people to know my family and what just happen get around! But also maybe that's a good thing and people will stop going there after that [censored] show! I will also be calling in tomorrow. Thanks you jewel osco for humiliating me tonight and making me cry all the way to meijers where they gave me no problem at all and are greatful I'll be shopping there for now! Thank god my son as food tonight! [protected] if by chance you want to call or even if you guys read these.
My email and my phone number can't sign into my mymixx account. pink60640@yahoo.com and [protected] can you help thank you
supervisor
I was shopping sunday afternoon around 2:45 and there was a huge argument between who I believe was a supervisor and a young lady (cashier). This man was yelling at her and being completely unprofessional and you could clearly see the young lady was crying at the register. He did not let her leave! Thats completely unnaceptable as a store supervisor. Most customers noticed this as well not just my wife and I. Immediate acrion should be taken because it seemed as if it was harrasment of some sort.
Be careful. If you get called back they're going to say you did it. That's what happened to me so I'm suing them for slander.
high prices
One of the reasons I had stopped shopping at Jewels is because of the high prices. I was a happy customer shopping at Ultra, until they closed. I liked Ultra because their prices were competitively lower than Jewels, and they carried a lot of items that Jewels just doesn't have. I drink Sparkling Ice because it has 0 sugar, 0 calories, etc. at most stores it is $1.00 or less. Why is it $1.38 at Jewels. Your overhead can't be that much more than everyone else's that you need to hike your prices up that much. I'm not a fan of Walmart, because they don't carry everything either, but you are going to force me to start shopping there.
check out
I was in the store on Friday April 20th around 5:30pm. I went to a register that had its light on & the cashier Matthew is standing there while the manager Barb is counting the drawer or something. None of them said sorry this is going to be a minute or anything. There's now people behind me & she finally walks away & Matthew still doesn't say anything to me & when I finished checking out he didn't say thank you & he didn't give me my Monopoly tickets. Where I used to work you have to talk to customers & thank them & let them know what's going on. This was at the location in Morris, Illinois on division street. I would like to be contacted as soon as possible because I'm seriously thinking about not shopping there again. My phone number is [protected]
The rude 1's name is Michael. He called me a dummy to add to everything. He just earned himself a lawsuit. You should really learn to quit insulting people but you will once you get fired.
Funny how they're back to showing my number too. It used to be protected. It's ok. Call me & harass me so I have more proof to sue. GO AHEAD! I DARE YOU!
Isn't it funny? I get a call back from the store director of this location saying he'll talk to Matthew & about a hour ago I get a call from a unknown South Carolina number from a dude with a thick accent & I'm trying to cross the street & I'm telling him I can't understand what he's saying so he tells me to move to a different alley. Excuse you I wasn't in no alley but I said I was crossing the street so he asked for my account on what happened that day so I told him & instead of addressing the issue he tried to say that I was making altercations & he kept changing the story, 1st he said I was making altercations with the employee then he said it was with customers which is false (the day in question I was by myself.) I told him that & he said that he'll transfer me to his manager or supervisor & maybe I'll get gift vouchers. When a store offers you gift vouchers or a gift card they're admitting fault great enough to get sued. I get transferred & the rudest ever person claimed he's from corporate but he was swearing at me & he said so what we hurt your feelings (in a sarcastic tone.) He also said Matthew wouldn't speak to him anymore. I asked for his name & of course he wouldn't give it to me. Also when I said the Chicago Jewel is good but I don't like this 1 he got offended & defensive. If he was from corporate he wouldn't have gotten like that. He also tried to say me & my family are banned from every Jewel. You don't know what I look like or who my family is. He also said he was getting complaints from a lot of people about the similar issue I was complaining about. That proves what he said I did didn't happen. If you complain about a certain store you're going to get someone rude calling you. I hope I get another call back because not only am I not shopping there again I'm suing for Slander. Everyone that has had this happen should comment on here & we can stand together to take this corporation down! WE THE PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE THE REASON YOU HAVE A JOB & ARE STILL IN BUSINESS. YOU ARE NOT DOING US ANY FAVORS!
check out staff
I go shopping during the night so I can go in and out without having to deal with the daytime crowds. Today at 1:37 am, I go to check out and two employees are talking to each other, the cashier who's name is Cindy and another employee named Alicia. I have my items on the belt and they just keep talking. Finally, Alicia walked away and Cindy rang me up without even an apology. This happened at store #3191 which is Romeoville, IL.
That's what happened at the Morris location to me.
