I need to warn everyone of a scam that I nearly got pulled into. I ordered some electronic items online from lightinthebox.com and made my payment online via my debit card. The next day I saw a message for me on their website when I logged onto it, saying that because my order was for a large amount of money (Actually it was $670) that before they would send the goods they needed photographs of my credit card, debit card, passport, driving licence, bank statement, recent utility bill. This worried me tremendously and I told them that I would not under any circumstances give them this personal information and that they should cancel my order and refund my payment. They said no problem they would cancel the order and make the refund. Well surprise surprise no refund appeared in my account and when I chased them about about they said they had made the refund and it must be my bank causing the delay. I called my bank and according to them they said there was no refund in the system. I contacted light in the box again and told they that they were lying and I wanted my refund immediately. After several days of no reply I then got a message from them saying that the refund had been refused by my card issuer because the card had expired (Which it hadn't) and that I was to send them photos of the card I used, an alternative credit card, my passport, my driving licence, utility bill as before. It was at this point that it became obvious to me that I had been scammed and that they were also trying to clone my identity. Be warned they are not legit>

my wedding dress
I bought my dress at lightinthebox.com. I ordered it custom to my measurements. When I recieved it the bust was 3 inches to small. My wedding is July 23rd 2011. I really don't feel comfortable sending it back without recieving a new one first. I do not want to get stuck with nothing at all. They offered me money to get it altered. You can't alter 3inches without extra material. They said if I return the one I have they can't gaurantee me a date the new one would come. I just want a dress that fits before my wedding comes. Who needs a wedding dress after the date of there wedding. Give me a break. I will send the small one back but I don't want to untill I have a new one in my hands that fits.

extra charges
Watch out for this company when I received their goods there was a charge from UPS of £56 (the goods only cost £120) which was for import duties. This is not made clear and has increased the cost of the item considerably. Look elsewhere!

I bought three taps from lightinbox, one of them was faulty (plumbing) but I thought it might have been the plumber who installed it.

This happened to me too! I ordered a mobile phone and a few weeks later received a claim for additional 100 $ from UPS, WTF is this? Shame on you Lightinthebox MF.
I also placed an order of £50 a couple of weeks ago; this included a shipping charge of £15. As I wasn't home, UPS dropped a card for me requesting me to pay an additional £19.95! Light In The Box are deceitful in not making this additional cost transparent. I don't intend to pay it and will be asking for a refund.

Recently I made an order through lightinthebox. (A chinese wholesaler) I was a little nervous about ordering from outside the country. With many many qestions to the sales dept. About my item, I finally decided to go for it. I had asked a total of 5 different sales reps about the quanity included in my order. As the website was a little unclear. Upon learning from the 4th person that my order would have 4 cases of items that included 4 to a case (=16... Confusing right) I ordered.in the middle of my ordering I realized I could have received a discount had I have contacted their vip. I let them know because of the money I would save I wanted an even larger order. So in doing that I was refunded my first order in a record fast transactions (Within three minutes they had refunded my order) with baited breath they awaited my second order. Before making the next order I checked once again with the 5th sales rep... To see if I would indeed receive 16 items total. I was assured that was the case. So I placed my order and waited for the status to go from processing to payment confirmed. After it stated that the payment was confirmed I got an email stating there had been a mistake and I would only be receiving 4 items. They said "no worry" "so sorry". Like that was going to made it better that I had spent almost 700 dollars and would receive one forth of my order. When I asked them to cancel it this time (The same person who canceled it the first time) the rep told me they couldn't do refunds I would have to wait on the billing department and it would take up to 72 hrs. "no worries" which was scheduled to be shipped in 24 hrs and after shippment there are no refunds. I emailed three other reps that were made very available before I ordered, more than willing to help me and after there was no response to any of my emails. I finally called my credit card company that says that lightinthebox hadn't taken out their payment. So I had to cancel my credit card to block the transaction. Upon telling lightinthebox that they failed to charge me correctly, they were dumb founded! Thanks to my credit card company I dodged a bullet. Lightinthebox told me they would fix the website to better represent the product in a more correct light... As of today it still hasn't been changed! They are for another victim!

No matter how good the "deals" look, do not purchase from this company! I placed an order for a simple chiffon shawl/wrap (Item # 52579 as seen in the attached photo — how something this plain & simple could take 3 or more weeks to make is beyond me!) on the first of may for our daughter’s prom on the 20th of may, 2011. Our daughter's gown was such a different shade that it was difficult to find anything in our area to match so of course we sought the internet. When I received an email from light in the box stating that it would be shipped on the 18th, I immediately wrote back that it would not arrive in time to be of any use. They continued, at that point, sending me emails using words like handmade, custom made, etc. And said to read their shipping policy. I did and it only mentioned that their "dresses" took a long time to ship due to their "tailor-made" nature. I would never have equated a custom dress with a shawl that amounts to nothing more than a strip of material, just as the picture showsl! One of their emails actually told me that since they would not accept return of the item, that I could "try selling it locally and getting a good price." unbelievable! I received yet another worthless email saying that my item had shipped. The email also stated that the item was ordered on may 22 when in fact I placed the order on may 1st, 2011. I would never do business with this company again since i'm convinced that light in the box doesn't know the meaning of customer service if that department even exists! As of this review, june 7, 2011, I still have not received the shawl! They definitely don’t care about getting it right, just getting your money!

I ordered over $500 worth of clothes and lights, I received the clothes within a week and I was very impressed with the quality. The lights are a totally different story! 7 weeks and a heap of emails later I STILL don't have my lights. Apparently the lights were returned to light in the box twice because the box was too big to be shipped, I did not buy a large fitting at all, and from the companys name and promotion isnt their whole thing that they are ' light in the box'?! How can they not pack lights properly to be shipped overseas?
Now they are telling me the lights are trapped in customs here in Australia and they don't know when of if they will ever be released! They have offered a refund, I haven't received it yet, but I asked them to give me the traking number etc and which logistics company they have come through so I can contact customs myself, the answer was ' the post office posted it so just ring customs and ask them' what? Sure I'll ring australian customs with no traking number or info and get them to look for my package, I'm sure they have plenty if spare time to do that for me! Light in a box customer service is useless and condescending! Be very wary!

Scam scam scam! Do not buy anything from this store. I ordered a dress from this store only to receive a defective dress that is not in the correct color. They don't own the patterns which is obvious because the arm holes are not aligned and not big enough to fit over my slender frame. They will give you the run around when you ask for a return. Giving an address that they never receive mail at. They have the worst customer service, several contact people and email addresses that mysteriously stop working. If you value your money do not order anything from light in the box.

We payed for an item to be sent express post and we didnt receive it for 2 months, we were told we would get a refund for the express postage and we still did not receive one. and when the item came it was completely wrong! The communication on this website is a joke! the customer service is poor and have alot of people wanting to take matters further with there service as am I. I ordered several electronics and gadgets over two years ago from this Company for my boy and they NEVER sent it! I had asked them to put the money back into my account they never did- I said, either way, send me my order or refund my money. During this time I had been busy with my investments that it required me to travel every three months so I never checked if it was put in and they never did, they just 'forgotten'. This time I have a bit more free time and I asked them to put the money back and they are offering me a coupon. I dont want a coupon, I want my money back and that's a problem.
This company is a scam- if you are an American be careful! I will make time to write the Better Business Beureau abut this and file a complaint once and for all. If you are an American and knows a way to stop this company from scamming into our country please let me know, because that is what I am going to try to do, stop this company from doing what they do. Unfortunatelly I purchased two products from them, this was my tution fee to learn this lesson. -(Always use this board to check out a website before you purchase anything!) Fortunatelly I used Paypal so they could not rob me but their products are extremely low quality, I purchased a Bluedio 5270 blutooth and a mini video player. The video player stopped working in 2 months, its software was freezing up at sturtup and it could not loaded. I switched it off and on couple of times, it did not help, when finally it never was able to turn up anymore. This product is not available anywhere and anymore. Interesting, ha?;)
The bluetooth did not work ever. I had so many of bluetooth products and I was able to pair them with my cellphone without any problem but this one from lighinthebox could not been paired at all. It is a faulty bluetooth. But they were kept saying that it is my cell-phone. Ok, no problem. I purchased a bluetooth from amazon and guess what it is just works fine. Anyway, I can get very good deals from amazon in the same price range and I have a real guarantiee on those products. Do not give your money for criminals ! They are lucky that their business is not here, so we can not do anything against them.

I bough a 100.OO USD phone with them. Beside being complicate to use, I could not charge it after 5 months of services. Which means I had to buy another one in Switzerland when I was traveling. Sooo Not good.
I asked the customer service about waranty, and had a very polite answer telling me NO. That's was a Chinese talk.
My advise is: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. If you need a warranty on it you WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY.
What is good to have a fast service, if your device won't work after 5 months.

I bought an NVR camera system with a wireless monitor. It arrived late and no manual/ instructions. One camera adapter was missing and one camera will not connect to the monitor.
No hard drive or mention it was being sent without one. It has cost me over £350 and it not really as cheap as I thought for what I got.
The cameras are very good and clear though. Their customer service is very bad, they never answer the point or resolve the issue. I later find out it has a 3 mont warranty. Sorry not good enougth 12 months is an international warranty in any country.
You are not buying wholesale but Chinese retail prices, (the same price if you bought it in China).
I would never deal with them again, avoid like the plague.

unwearable bridesmaid dresses

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE! Light in the Box is a scam! I had an outdoor, October 10th, wedding and ordered sundresses for the bridesmaids to wear ( I live in the south so it's still pretty warm here in Oct.) One bridesmaids' PayPal account was charged for her order twice. When she called to cancel the extra order the people at Light/Box canceled BOTH orders. That's one bridesmaid down. Of the other 3, only 1 bridesmaid received her dress (the day before the wedding) even though all the bridesmaids had ordered their dress in the first week of September. Light/Box says to allow 18 days plus another 3 for tailoring? We gave them almost 6 weeks lead time. My bridesmaids had to run around town trying to find match outfits for the wedding the next day! Thank God I didn't order my wedding dress from them. I even had trouble trying to get one question answered about the measurements for the dress. The website asks that you measure from the shoulder to the floor but these were knee length dresses. I tried emailing and even tried to "live chat" with someone named "Peter" on their site. No clear answer was ever given. Go to Light/Box's website and read the reviews, all of them are positive reviews with the same spelling/punctuation mistakes! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE! EVER EVER EVER! RIP OFF!
defective faucet
I ordered a shower and bath faucet combination from LightintheBox for $120.31 . When it came and it was time for the plumbers to install it they found that it was defective in that it had no threads machined into the shower wand attachment so could not be attached to the port on the faucet for the shower. Then they discovered that the seat flange used to attach the faucet to the wall plumbing was cracked and defective so it would not stop leaking. When I e-mailed LightintheBox to get the defective parts replaced They claimed it was beyond thier 30 day warrenty even though it was defective from the factory and they refuse to send me the few dollars in parts it would take to fix the faucet. I think they should replace those parts because they were defective from the factory even though it is just a few days beyond the 30 day warranty when the problem was discovered during installatiion.

Don’t buy anything from www.lightinthebox.com. Let me tell my story. I bought this tablet from Lightinthebox.com. It is more expensive than that from other sellers. I would have paid more to get higher quality product. However I was wrong. It took three weeks to receive this tablet. When I got it, I found it was a defective product, which was a block spot on screen. I can send you the pictures I took on black spot if you want to see. I contacted seller to tell them it was a defective product. No response. I went online to chat with seller. They said that you had to wait until response. If you did not like to wait, you could sue us. Does any buyer tolerate this ridicules answer? I had no choice to contact Paypal and hold my payment. Seller immediately responded. Then I returned this tablet via USPS. It took other 4 weeks to get refund and reimbursement for return cost. However, Paypal charged me a fee $11.4 for refund and reimbursement of return cost. I contacted seller to argue on the fee. Seller said they don’t want pay the fee. Does any buyer want to pay a fee for refund and return cost when you receive a defective product? It was seller’s fault to send a defective product. Seller should pay for everything. If you don’t care about your money, you buy it from Lightinthebox.com.

failure to reveal return/xchange cost
They dont disclose the cost DHL is going to charge you to return/exchange whatever you may have purchased from them. DHL told me it would cost me $82.50 in US funds to send back to Light In The Box. Plus the site tells me after the fact that it will cost a 15% amount of product for restocking and then you will also pay shipping for the new item to be shipped out to you if this is the case. THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SVC. TELEPHONE NUBMER AND THERE PROCESS FOR GETTING A "RETURN FORM" IS REDICULOUS. I'm on day 3 of going back and forth with this company via e-mail and its never a two way conversation but a back and forth a day later conversation. It sounds to me like their basically probing me and forcing me to agree to pay all the fees mentioned above or they wont send me the form. I wont buy from Light In The Box (China) ever again!

I totally agree with April. I too am another victim of this blood sucking company. I ordered two dresses for my daughters wedding. The first dress arrived and and totally did not fit. These were standard sizes that were ordered and not made to custom fit. Once I received the first dress I knew that the second dress would not work out so I refused the second shipment "with a return to sender". I immediately contacted the company to request a return authorization and began getting the same response that April has sited in her complaint. Then I inquired as to when I would be getting a refund on the dress that was returned and I was told that they have never received it and that Fed Ex must have it still in their posession. These people are ruthless and unfeeling, they are in plain english money hungary theives. With all the expenses that are involved with planning a daughters wedding I never thought that I would be out over $300 that could have been put towards better use.

I submitted payment to lightinthebox.com for a set of cell phones. I payed through paypal. The company contacted me and wanted copies of my credit card (which I did not use) as well as copies of ID (such as drivers license, passport, etc.)
I felt very uncomfortable with this and contacted paypal. They said they Do not provide merchants with customer information, and any attempt for a company to get personal information from a client who payed with paypal - is most likely a fraudulent company!
I requested my order be canceled, which took them a couple days to realize. I finally had to file a paypal dispute in order for them to cancel my order. Since then they have sent 2 emails requesting that I cancel my paypal dispute against their company, and that i should "trust them." Their letter also stated that it could take up to 45 days for my refund to be given back to me!

Do not do business with this China Based Company. They charge your credit card immediately, give you a order number, then do not allow you to log back into your account. The only way to contact them is to do online chat. Online chat tells you that your order is in their System, but held for "fraud investigation". They tell you that you must submit a xerox of your credit card, your passport, and a utility bill. FORGET IT! IT IS A SCAM!. Now you must do a charge back on your Credit Card and WAIT! Completely ruins your Christmas. STAY AWAY!

Do not use this company!!! I didn't find all of the complaints about them until after I had placed an order and my credit card had been charged. I contacted them via online chat because they have no valid phone number (Conveniently). Lightinthebox scams you on your refund! I strongly recommend against buying from lightinthebox and here is why. Because I was ordering from online and wouldn't really know how the dresses would fit, I wanted to make sure I could get my money back on the dress I didn't wear. So I paid special attention to the return policy which said 100% refund or store credit if returned within 7 days. I gave them the wedding date for the bridesmaid dresses. They missed the date by 6 days! And later I found that after they took my money and said the order was in process they sent an email saying that they knew they were going to miss the wedding date, but they still went through with the order and now they don't respond to my emails and they have not paid any refund! So I am out the cost of 4 bridesmaid dresses that I wasn't able to wear.

I placed an order for 3 sets of iPod earbuds and received it three weeks later (money was accepted immediately!). Items are cheap imitations - look similar to the real thing but feel cheap. Sound quality of first set is terrible, so I tried to contact company for refund. No phone number is shown; the "Contact Us" button tells you to log in, find order and make request, and someone will contact me within 1 day. Only problem is that when I log in, it shows that I have no order on file! I'll have to eat the cost of these earbuds - thankfully it was less than $6.00. I should've listened to voice in my head - "you get what you pay for".
I'll not order from them again. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN!
I too am having an awful time finding a return address or a phone number to call customer service. I forgot my password on the account so they sent me a new one which does not work so I can't even log in to contact anyone. Will never order from them again. Ordered a Royal Blue dress and the one they sent me is Navy Blue, not what I ordered! Tried on-line chat but no one ever answers. Understand their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY...THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM.

I got an email saying that I ordered almost $1000 worth of dresses and I did not order anything, I was just browsing through! Also it said that they took of the money from PayPal But I do not have a paypal account! I was crying yesterday because that is a lot of money for something that I do not even want! Lightinthebox has just ripped me off! and to this I have no idea if they will send me something ( PLEASE DONT! I DONT WANT IT) and if they will charge me! I contacted them and did not get a reply! I am shocked and will never even enter that website!

I have a problem I ordered two items on order #[protected]. I received the items but they are wrong. I have tried several times to get a return number . Each time I was told to go to customer services or to my account. I keep trying to tell them that when I go to the sight it says you have no orders and my account has this weird email address which is not mine but I cannot change it because I don't know the password I cannot just mail these items back to light in the box because they said I need a return number Can you help me?
On 12/12/2014 I ordered Bin Bin 18K gold plated Zircon earrings ERO452, charge $2.99. In the same order I ordered Maxhope Women's Cow Leather Korea Coffee Tassel Vintage Shoulder Cross Body Bag for $22.99. Total charge was $25.98 for both items and $8.38 for Super Saving Ship, making it a grand total of $34.36. Confirmation of my order and payment received was sent to my e-mail on 12/12/2014. On 12/26/2014 I received another e-mail stating that my items had been shipped. I received the earrings on 1/15/2015 with the packing slip stating that my order was complete. I have NOT however, received the Maxhope Cross Body Bag, nor any mention that it is still coming. I have paid for the bag and your company has confirmed that you have received payment for it.l How do I go about receiving my total order ? I am now unable to even find my full order on your sight, although I printed out each correspondence proving my order and payment. Over the past year I have spent up to a thousand dollars with light in the box some of the items were acceptable some just junk. I did not complain because of the price and the cost of returns that is the risk you take buying from China. My most recent experience has forced me to close my account with them because of their attempt to steal my Identity. I always use paypal and they always get paid before the product is shipped. This last time I ordered 5 camera and they requested my ID and Credit card number etc. As described in one of the other complaints. When are they going to get the message that people do not put their passport, credit cards and other information on the net for others to steal or use as desired.
Complained to the supervisor and they cancelled the order.

Don't deal with Light in the Box I purchased a bolero/shrug from them when it arrived I found it to be very poorly sewn the seams didn't match up thus sagging on the back of the left sleeve I complained via a ticked asking to return it but mysteriously the ticket disappeared then I sent an email via facebook still nothing so twice I left a very poor review the first was taken down the second we I expect the same will happen, they are very hard to contact as they only have a seven day return policy no customer service and left out of pocket, will never buy from them again!
