We purchased 4 sets of chair cushions it says on the tags that they are Ever Luxe-poly fill springs back to retain shape it is false representation because we have had them 5/28/2010 which isn't even a week and they are worse than our old ones which we no longer have . The purchase price of these cushions was $46.79 each real pricey for something that isn, t what it is supposed to be.

Menards reps / flyers / new policy

I have have been doing business with menards since 1980" s placing my flyers in there stores"' And bringing in thousends dollars in purchases into there stores"' Until recently"' My Flyers have to be to there specific Specifactionss and I now have to have a rep in there and have give them my Credit /Debit card number and a detailed price list"' And have to make a purchase with our customers which is almost impossible to be that specific"'Some jobs are subject to measure as well as unforseen complications and some customers simply dont want to purchase everything from menards.but if i dont follow there procedures my flyers are removed without any notice'' Also if i put my labor prices right out there in the open"' For other SUB contractors to see And some SMUCK to under bid. ""YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"" And the rep that they assign to us isnt worth Two Cents because if we dont go through them they dont get paid"" And they favor the ones that bring in the most sales"" Most of there reps dont have any idea how it works! This new policy they now have for subs, Im sure has cost them more than its worth"" It has become to much of a hassle for me to even deal with them"" OH WELL"" Its there loss I will send my customers were ever they choose to go and if they ask"" Menards will be the last place i Suggest to them. Unfortunely i still have some costomers that make there purchases from menards, But i dont send them to my rep"" I give them a material list they will need and my phone # to ensure that they are not sold more than they need.

Menards beware

I spent over $13, 000 on a kitchen remodel and bought my cabinets at the exasperating Evansville, Indiana store. The so-called designer made an error on the CAD drawing which forced me to spend more money on additional cabinets and brought construction to a halt for 3 weeks. Then, regarding the cabinets they should NOT have put on the order, I got "No ma'am, you absolutely cannot return those two cabinets, they were special order." They also lost the entire computer file (read here - most likely deleted it when they saw they made the error because the guy got up and left the area for a few minutes to go to another computer, returned, and after "searching" for a while, said it was gone. Yes I still have the printout of the file though). They refuse to admit they made a mistake, and the store manager, C. M., is a *** who only cares about covering his own rear end and tells "Guest Services" he talked this over with me several times with the resolution that I didn't want to return the unnecessarycabinets. He called ONE time and that was nearly 6 weeks after the cabinets came in. Also, the Eau Claire Guest Services will "only do business by mail"... snail mail. They don't thoroughly read the mail you send them, so their answers are inane and uninformed. They also did not respond to the BBB complaint until 3 weeks after the case was closed. Completely frustrating, unbelievable indifference, and outright denial. Even after numerous letters of explanation of the problem, Guest Services still was saying it was a manufacturer's problem. Now that the Attorney General is involved, they are saying they offered to take them back and I said no, but when I asked for that in writing, they refused. NEVER NEVER NEVER again. My contractor referred his next remodel to another store after seeing what lousy service Menard's has.

I totally agree. From my ex.perience, it sounds like a re;lay. If you are refered to Guest Services, get ready for an impossible trip. I purchased carpeting. I had the installer that was on their recommend list pick it up to install. Found the carpet thickness off an eighth of an inch I didn't think that was a big deal. He showed me and it looked OK until it was glued down. Now there is a complete difference in paatterbn between the two pieces! I immediately went to Menards and spoke with the salesperson. He responded that unfortunately the 2 pieces came from different lots. The often happens when that is the case. I asked, "Why would you select unmatching pieces to fill my order? Well he insinuated that sometimes things like that happen. I was getting nowehere so I asked for the store manager. He came, told me about the same thing. Said they didn't have enough to replace the section that was a problem and I would have to contact guest services. So they gave me the forms to complete and send to Wisconsin. I couldn't believe that they would not solve the problem locally. After all, I purchased the product from them, installed it and it was not satisfactory. Anyway, I sent a letter and all the information requested and about sten days later, I received a copy of a letter they had sent to Citation Carpeting in Dalton, GA! It said that I had received questionable product and THEY should contact me right away. They never did but customert services did. They offered 2 solutions that would return some of the purchase price with instore credits. Neither solution was satisfactory. I had paid for the installation, one solution would require me to pay to have it removed and returned but they wouldn't pay for the adhesive used for the installation or the metal doorway hardware. After 2 or 3 more letters and reaponses that in general said the same thing, I got the feeling that they would prefer I just go away. So I went back to the store in Kalamazoo, MI and asked for the manager. I took my file and pictures and he was very sympathetic. Asked me what I would like and I said I would like the old stuff replaced or I would keep it as is but would like a CASH refund of 274.00. I said that the last thing on earth that I would want was an instore credit for Menards. He told the cashier to give me 274.00, was very apologetic and indicated that Guest Services in Wisconsin, relys too much on form letters and probably do not even read your response. I thanked him and said I appreciated them taking care of it at the local level after I had spent 8 WEEKS, trying to get the Co. to stand behind the products it sells. If I were a contractor, I would advise to STAY CLEAR OF MENARD'S. you are asking for trouble!

Menards horrible service

I went to the Morton Grove Menards looking for some cabinets to purchase. I asked Lorena if I could get pricing information and delivery charges. She clearing did not want to help me and tried pushing me off on another gentlemen. I asked to speak to a manager.Lorena replied "I am the manager". My daughter and I did not want to argue with her so we just walk out. I decided to write this letter. She has no idea how to be a manager. I should off let her put me off on her co worker. Thank you Lorena for making that day horrible for me.

I have had nothing but HORRIBLE experiences with Menards in Detroit
Lakes, MN. NO ONE wants to help! Ever! The paint guy took 2 HOURS to
mix my paint! Actually, he didn't even do it. I had to have someone
from the carpet department come do it. Today I went to look at carpet
and the guy was a complete idiot. I stood in front of his post for over
10 minutes when finally he came. He did not look like he wanted to help
me at all. I asked him many questions regarding purchasing carpet and
when I asked him where I could find the pricing for carpet pads, he
wouldn't even leave his post to SHOW me where it was, instead he just
told me in a non-descriptive manner. I couldn't find it for 10 minutes
and had to ask him twice! Ridiculous! At the end of my visit I spoke
with a manager and told her about what happened and how it was quite
frustrating that he was so unwilling to help. Instead of offering an
apology of any kind she just kept saying "Oh, ok." Really? That's how
they run the store? I am done wasting my time and will never be
returning there. Enough is enough. Either hire people that will actually
help or close down

Well, [censored], you probably interrupted her while she was doing something else. Managers have a lot of ### to do, so nine times out of ten they're ###ing busy. She was probably asking the other guy to help because he wasn't busy at all. God forbid she tries to get you some help like you're asking for. Stupid ###ing ###.

Menards late fee

I paid my bill online 1 day late. The total of the bill was $32.45 and because it was 1 day late, I recieved a $30 late fee. Since I am a good customer since about 1994, I figured it would be no problem for them to waive this fee. They refused because 1 other time in the last 15 monthes I had been late again by 1 day. I know being on time is important, but this is crazy. I've built a 6 car cedar sided garage and 2 large steel buildings using Menards plans and materials, not to mention remodeled several properties using Menards. What's more, I have plans for 2 more buildings this spring. Menards will not be seeing this business thanks to Jasmine in customer service.

I stopped at Menards to pick up some times. When I went to pay for the items with a check, I was told my check was declined. I went to the bank, got the cash, went back to Menards and bought the items. This was on a Saturday. I was told that if I had any questions, to call the number on the back of my check, which I did. The phone number [protected]) had a recording on it saying they are only open Monday > Friday 8am > 5pm. I left a message. After playing phone tag many times...I called when someone was suppose to be in the office & they returned my calls when I was at work. I finally did reach someone. Here's what I was told...your check was declined because you wrote a check to Menards September 11, 2010 & it was returned for insufficient funds. She did tell me the check number when asked, though I was told she had to restart her computer to find that out (it was 4:30). She then said not to worry though because everything was all cleared up 09/29/2010. I then called my bank & explained the situation to them. The check written 09/11/2010 had cleared my bank 09/17/2010 and NO it had not been returned for insufficient funds. The bank also advised that I call Menards back & find out what is needed to get this cleared up. I called [protected], Samantha, back - what a surprise I got an answering machine, again. Less than 10 min's had passed between the initial & subsequent call. It was now 4:40. I did leave a message on the answering machine stating please leave a message on my answering machine with the address where I can send material to get this cleared up. I included my name, bank account number & phone number. Samantha at [protected] returned my call & all that was left on the answering machine was her name & number.

Menards cc fraud

When I purchased lumber from Menards, I was asked by the sales assoc if I would like a Menards card. They took one of my credit cards, ran it through their machine and told me I was approved for the 6 months same as cash. We used the card, and went to pay it off, and they had attached a Protection Elite Plan to our card, and it cost us $55.60/mth. When I called to have it removed, they said I had to remove it within 30 days, and since it was past that, I had to pay the $270.53!Menards, and Prot Elite refused to remove the charges! (The Prot Elite is only for appliances, which we had not purchased). I closed our account and refuse to purchase anythin else from them. We have spent over $20, 000.00 for our pole barn there, but because of them being underhanded and riping us off, we will go some place else and pay the higher dollar.

don't get the card. they are a rip off anyway. why would you pay interest on money when you have the money to pay the day of the purchase? read the terms and conditions that accompany the card. that's your own fault. you have to sign for the card and any protection you have them put on it. atleast you got a quality barn at a great price before you decided to boycott menards.

Their rebates really are a scam. I don't mind that what they give must be used in Menards. What bugs me is that the rebate must be mailed in usually within a week later, must include the original receipt, you must create and address your own envelope, and then you still need to wait 6-8 weeks. This type of unnecessary overhead demonstrates that they really do not want people collecting on those rebates.

My complaint is really about persons with disabilities. This store is not providing a good rest area for their employees. It is located on a second floor and this is not fair to the employees who have a disability. My friend works there and she is medically disabled but she is one of the best employees they have. She always is at work and comes in whenever...

Menards safety/ wheel chairs

I have had a very bad experience with how people with disabilities are taken care of. My wife, Daughter, and Her family went to the new store to get some supplies. I am disabled, and have a difficult time walking. When i asked for a cart, I was given an old wheel chair with a large basket for supplies. My Wife was pushing me, and tried to go into a isle with carpet. They have a carpet strip that is about a 1/2 inch high with a large incline. The wheel chair tipped forward, and i almost tipped over. Of course, i was embarrassed, and started to complain. I found out that the local stores have no say in how safety is taken care of. and that all the stores only have wheel chairs with the basket. I was reminded of a shopping cart when i got into the chair. There is no easy way to get out, other that to crawl out. The State should make it mandatory to have decent safe electric carts for a store as large as Menard's. I will not be back, I don't like to give my hard earned cash to some one with such a bad record, I recommend that on one with disabilities go there. It's a disgrace to anyone who can not walk.

I have been to this store many times and can't think of any carpeted areas at all. I also have a bit of a back problem and find this store most helpful not only when I ask but even offering help on a regular basis.
I am sure Menards will help any one who needs help and I don't agree that stores should be forced to buy extra equipment for every situation. They will gladly get you what ever you want if you can't get it and that's good enough.

why is it menards problem that you cannot walk. you should THANK the store because you do not have to bring your own chair, and they provide one for you. i cannot believe the whole mentality of entitlement in america today. make a law? who do you think will pay for that? why should I pay for a chair that I do not use. plan ahead and take of your own problems. don't make them mine.

Menards mislabled price

While price shopping for a home heater, we found a 30, 000 btu model that usually sells for $199 priced at $129. We asked for assistence, and after the young lad hemmed and hawed and made about a half dozen flatly inaccurate remarks (about which models burned propane and which burned natural gas - the final remark being confirmation that this was indeed the correct price, seeing that the model numbers on the shelf tags matched) he then asked if we wanted it (we said yes) and if we needed a cart (we said yes) and he took off and brought one back, and just before loading the heater onto the cart he stopped and said wait a minute (or something like that) and then said this is all wrong, and then proceeded to remove the 1" square (or so) price tag out of the sleeve of the bigger tag taped to the shelf, and rearrange them so that the heater we wanted was now $199. He then looked at us and said "Sorry. Is there anything else I can help you with?" We said no and went to the Customer Service Counter, where a manager listened to our complaint, walked back to the heater section with us, and got on her cell phone with who knows who, and then told us the best she could do is take $20 off the price of the heater we wanted. (We declined.) Now. Walmart has a policy (as I assumed all larg responsible retailers did) that if the item is mislabled, you have every right to pay the labled price for the merchandise. Menards obviously feels otherwise. If cashiers (tellers, etc.) make mistakes, it comes out of their paycheck. So why not sloppy shelve stockers? Although technically we're not out anything (except our time and frustration) this still was a piss poor experience from a large corporate enterprises that cheerfully sings endless songs about saving big money in their advertising blitzes which extend all the way down to the store intercom. Further, anyone caught stealing in their store would presumably be swiftly and mercessly handed over to the police and prosecuted. Conversely, labling an item with one price and then attempting to charge a higher price (whether intentionally or otherwise - how about the customer running out of hands and putting an item in their pocket to get to the cashier only to forget about it... Would they be treated any differently?) to me is the exact opposite of shoplifting, and I see it as being every bit as criminal for the exact same reasons, whether anyone agrees with me on this issue or not. (Although admittedly whether anyone should be charged with a crime for mislabling merchandise to me is in the exact same category as whether to prosecute a customer for absent mindedly putting an item in his pocket for whatever reason, with the full intention of paying for it - basically it's a judgement call.) Further, supposing Menards denies the merchandise was ever mislabled in the first place. Even though I have a witness, that might not be sufficiently convincing for anyone to persue. Admittedly we're at a disadvantage, seeing that any employee could apprehend any customer and call the police and present any small merchandise and say they found it in the customer's pocket, and exactly who are the police going to believe and what kind of a defence will that customer have in Court? (None. And even if I had taken pictures, the counter argument would be that I'd done that myself in advance of taking the picture, so I see myself no further ahead even if I had.) So, assuming Menards does not deny that merchandise was originally mislabled, what is their Corporate Company Policy? What is the Indiana State Attorney General's position in this matter? (Yes, his office will get the next complaint!) What about the general public? Will even one less person shop at Menards over this? (I have no idea - but I DO know that if enough people felt as strongly about it as I do right now, things would change very quickly!) Comments are welcome, although I'm positive there will be a short (or maybe even a long) line of people accusing me of trying to get something for nothing. That's fine. But if anyone asked, I'd say all I want is what's right. And why should what's right at one major retailer be any different from what's right at another major retailer? Myself, I believe that what one considers to be right should have a strong proportional effect on how much business the general public wishes to conduct with them.

Price tags, advertisements, signs, etc. are considered "invitations to negotiate" by law. Therefore, simple mistakes and misprints are not considered a crime. Had you taken even the most basic business law class in high school or beyond you would know this. Individual companies are not required to lose money on an item because a mistake was made pricing one of hundreds of thousands items in the store. Store policies may offer other remedies at the discretion of the store manager. You were not satisfied, so Menards will have to live without any further business from you.

here is the explaination. sales cause increased demand by lowering prices. demand for an item depletes supply. therefore a lower price yeilds lower supply levels. i still haven't heard you thank menards for being open on christmas eve. those carryout guys that were "standing talking to a woman" were at work on christmas eve. not home with their families. maybe it was a relative that was missing their company on such an important holiday, and stopped in to say hi on the way to christmas eve dinner. it's really nice that you have gotten in touch with your poor me attitude. it suits you well.

Menards Falling merchandise

Yesterday my husband was looking at solid oak 1 x 3's, 6-footers, when 3-4 of them tipped out of the storage bin and hit him on the head, leaving 3 visible knots plus a small scrape on his forehead. He reported it, and the store personnel filled out an accident report, but never asked him to sign it and never showed it to him. He asked for ice for the lumps on his head, and he was told there was some "back in the employees' first aid kit", but no one ever got it for him. When I got home from work (within about an hour of the injury), I took him to the ER, stopping in briefly at Menard's to take some pictures and speak to the manager. I have attached a picture of the dangerous set-up Menard's has for storing their lumber--stacked upright with no chains or bars across them to keep them from falling. If they aren't stacked at an angle, they tip forward very easily.

After taking the photos, I asked to speak to the highest level of manager in the store. I told him I was taking my husband to the ER, and he said that was good (they had already told him they would pay for it if he went to the doctor). I told him that my husband said he was never shown the accident report or asked to sign it, so we would like a copy. He said no, they don't give those out. (Why NOT? and why wasn't the injured person given a chance to see if they wrote it up accurately?) I also told him that I was upset that my husband had asked for ice, and was not given any, when he had visible bumps on his head. He said they didn't have any. I suggested they could have used snow (we have PLENTY on the ground now) and a ziploc bag. He said, and I quote "We're not Boy Scouts here." Nice, huh? I will be contacting their corporate offices about both the unsafe displaying of lumber, and also the disgusting attitude of the manager. He just kept saying "We did everything we were supposed to. We asked him if he wanted to sit down, and he said 'no'; we asked him if he wanted us to call someone, and he said 'no'." Well, my husband said they did ask him if he wanted to sit down, but he said they did NOT ask him if he wanted them to call someone (which I think they SHOULD HAVE, with a head injury). He said they just asked him what he wanted to do, and he said he didn't know.

I feel for your husband and your situation, i recently went through a simalar situation at Ross store where 2 boxes fell on my head! I was with my 2 kids and after the blow to my head I was very disorrientated . When i spoke with the manager and store personal who were taking my report which they also wouldn't give me a copy off, I told them i feel really dizzy and feel like sitting down, they pointed off into the distance and told me i "could sit in the dressing room if i wanted!" it has now been 6weeks and i am still suffering neck and extreme back pain because of the insidence! Make sure you take every mesurre that your husband is properly cared for by seeing Doctors and making sure there isn't any long term damage, which you will be paying for later! You might need a lawyer to actually get the medical bills paid for!

Menards johnny beers

My family was walking into the Menards store # 3136 in Avon Indiana . As we ( my family ) were walking into the store over at the service desk there was a man employee grooping a woman employee`s body in a way that should not/never be done in a place of business. We went to an employee and asked to speak to a manager about what we had just seen. This employee took us over to the manager, to our surprise the manager was the man that was touching the female employee . So, there was no one to report this incident to . So, we asked the employee what this managers name was and he stated that it was Johnny Beers. Until, we hear from someone on this matter, we will not be going back into that store # 3136 in Avon Indiana. We would like to know that someone has read this and also feels that, that kind of conduct by a manager is uncalled for in a work inviorment. The store has and we noticed cameras so, someone needs to take a look at what goes on at that store. It was December 16 about 4:45 to 5:00 o`clock p.m. in the evening in front of store as you walk in. We believe that something needs to be done with this JOHNNY BEERS so called manager at store # 3136 in Avon Indiana. District manager should at least step up and correct this matter. Would appreciate a response from you on this matter at sue [protected]@iendeavor.com Thank you for your time and attention.

Menards dissatisfaction with merchandise

Visited the menards in Monona. Took time to look over wood stoves, after reading all information asked for help with more information from the floorsales man. He couldn't give me any more information so he got the store manager for me. The store manager went over all the options with me and after long hard consideration I purchased the Highlander with blower. I was very dissatisfied with the results I received from the product. I was told it would easily heat up to 1800 sq feet. I placed it in a family room of 800 sq feet it is pretty to look at but doesn't give any heat. When I purchased this product I was assured by the store manager that it would be more than adaquite for the space I needed it for. Even putting logs in every two hours we still get very poor results. I feel that I was taken advantage of and would very much like to return the product but was told I had to file a complaint first. I feel that when going over a product with a store manager and assured happiness the store should stand behind there word and product. I believe that the store manager misrepresented the quality of the product and it is basically ornimental as opposed to being useful for the funcation it was purchased for. I would like to be contacted and get this matter fixed as soon as possible my number is [protected]. Thank You Chris Guthrie.

To insure that the unit is installed and functioning properly, you must fill out an installed complaint form and the unit will be inspected by the manufacturers representative. If it is installed properly and there is no problem with the room it is in, options will be discussed at that time.

Menars Buy n Fly points for airline tickets is a joke. You need 30000 points to get 1 ticket and they have no website to tell you this. The 30000 points would have to be close to $500000.00 spent in one year. Points have to be accumulated in one year. Guess we will be going to Lowes more.

Menards had a large negative impact on my life

Menards has personally had a large negative impact on my life. I am one of the "old program" contract haulers who operated a Fassi Drywall crane from 2005 until recently when changes were made to the delivery program. I was washed out with intent to replace by a Masterlift truck that Menards exclusively offers for purchase by new vendors. Menards with-held pay of 2.5 months of work totaling $18000 dollars from my company, and to this day I have not recieved a word out of them in regards to any of it. I recieved a letter of immediate termination due to my stating I would no longer haul loads for Menards. With my career apparently comeing to an abrupt close, I tried to dispute this and claim my rights in a company that would take such desperate measures to take me out. What irritates me the most is that even the folks at the store I reported to daily are lying to me, and knowing I can see that. They DON'T CARE! It is all about the bottom line at Menards, making money regardless of the cost.

It has been four and a half months since my last day of hauling. I didn't have the opportunity to work the summer to regain losses from the slow season, and not getting paid for most of last October, all of May, June, and the days of July I worked into, and not working December 16th thru March 1st (due to losing a finger at work) I left in very bad shape. I am in a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in which I hope to regain a decent credit score one day and be forgivin of this mess I have gotten myself into. The bankruptcy is not an easy way out though! I have lost my truck and all equipment to the bank, rights of my accounts owed by Menards to the same bank, my motorcycle is gone, I have been turned down when trying to open a savings or checking account, and anybody who looks at my credit from here on out will see that big, fat bankruptcy (including employers).

I felt I had earned the trust of this company and my store. I can only speak on the behalf of myself, and other haulers. As far as employees and managers go, you may be treated on a different level than I have been. I am speaking for, and this goes out to, Haulers. This company is not to be trusted!

Any little punk who has the urge to talk nasty needs to consider himself in these other peoples positions. Some know "not much" but need to try and prove otherwise.

Here is some of the best dirt you will find on the web regarding Menards. Two and a half years later people are still posting!

Menards owner/operator delivery program is great! It has allowed me to own my own business and be home every night with my family. It's not a job, it a business and I understand that my business needs to be avaiable 7-days a week as that is the contract I signed. Sure it has it ups and downs but at the end of the day I make $ and work for myself. I would recoment tis opportunity to anyone.

why didn't you just sell the boom truck and get a masterlift? i would think that would be the easiest thing to do...unless you were already on bad terms with menards. what did you think would happen when you stated you would no longer haul for menards? they don't mess around. they HAVE to get products delivered. if they think that you might quit, they have to start the hunt for annother hauler ASAP. it would be very damaging to sales not to have a hauler, and that's what retail is all about. the contract that haulers sign sucks, but, you know the terms before you start hauling for menards. saying that you will not haul for them in the middle of it pisses them off. ALOT. that could be one of the issues with the pay. the master lift sucks too...we all know it, but they will figure that out eventually. you had a tough time it sounds like, but sheesh, just do what they want you to do if you want to stay employed by menards. usually the gm can figure something out if the store needs to keep you around, but when they do find annother hauler who will do what they ask, you will be gone. there isn't much room for a hauler that rocks the boat, and EVERYBODY at menards hates hauler confrontation. the store will not operate without a hauler for very long. sorry that it put you in such a spot, but you can't blame menards too much. you were the one who stated that you would not haul for menards any longer. fair pay should be issued and it will, but it takes some time to sort out the escrow and figure out what is fair according to the contract you sign at the start of employment. it sounds cold to say but it sounds like you ended contract to haul all by yourself.

Menards mastercraft exterior french door

The horror stories you hear about Mastercraft exterior french doors...are true! Do not, I repeat...do not purchase this product (esp from Menards). Our blueprints called for 5 sets of french doors, which we purchased & our licensed contractor installed. Every time it rained, those doors leaked...so bad, it ran down into the floor below. Contacted the Menards Mgr, wrote letters, and took pics. Took Menards 2-3wks to have the Mastercraft rep FLY-in from WI to try and fix. Blamed on improper install...spent all day caulking, putting in little pad bumpers...testing w/the water hose. The rep declared them fixed. Few days later after a rain, leaking again! Water poured in over the threshold. JUST b/c we've spent so much money at Menards these past months building our home, the Mgr reluctantly allowed us to return them (but we had to buy replacements thru Menards). We upgraded to Pella sliders- as I'm scared to death of french doors & the possibilities of leaks! Love the new sliders. HATE Mastercraft exterior doors, such poor-poor quality and added so much stress to our lives. Menards/Mastercraft point to the builder and say improper install...but even after the rep came out and made sure they were all level, caulked, etc...still bad. BUYER BEWARE OF Mastercrap/Mastershaft doors.

You are correct about the poor quality of Mastercraft doors. It's obvious there is a lack of Quality Control during the engineering, manufacturing, and assembly process. After purchasing Mastercraft French doors, I examined them only to find poor craftsmanship and a clear attempt to keep cost down through inferior materials or lack of essential components. Firstly, underneath the sill where it is fastened to the jam there was no caulking to prevent water seepage. This was the first part I fixed. Probably one of the reasons blondeauto's doors keep leaking at the corners. I also noticed that the composite sill was cracked. The staples they use missed the board and cracked it. So I pulled the staples, glued it together, and used much stronger screws to refasten it. Then came installation. After installing the doors I noticed they were racked...misaligned. Therefore I checked the frame for square. It was. This is when I saw that the doors were titled not the frame. I looked at the hinges and I could see that the flawed routering produced different depths causing the doors to tilt at an angle. This is a manufacturing defect caused by poor quality control. When the jam is being routered it is getting pressed at one end when passing through causing the hinges to be set at different depths. When the frame is assembled, the board is flipped and now the reverse problem is on the other side. The solution is to shim the middle hinge and double shim the top and opposite bottom of the pocket for the hinges. After fixing that I stood back then saw a spot of light coming through the top of the doors where they meet. It seems the design missed a seal for the top of the astragal. Also, missing were the two keeper plates for the lock pins. I decided to take a trip to Menards to ask where this missing hardware was. Menards contacted the manufacturer and they said they no longer use the keeper plates but use this little plastic cup to insert into the lock bolt hole. No security there. As for the seal, they said it only comes with one on the bottom not the top. They gave me no solution for the daylight showing through the hole or the wind and cold air that comes through it. Nice! Now onto the door handle and deadbolt installation. Guess what? The strike plates don't line up. So you can't lock both at the same time. Back to Menards where I purchase another strike plate to grind and offset to get the locks in alignment. I think that's enough. I wouldn't recommend a Mastercraft door based on this experience. As for the hundreds of doors that the contractor installed, shame on you for using such a cheap product.

I install hundreds of doors a year and have never had a problem with Mastercraft doors leaking as opposed to other brands. That's why I now use Mastercraft doors exclusively. Being an experienced contractor, I am often called out to fix a door after a so-called professional contractor installed it and almost always the problem is the initial installation (slamming the door in the opening to move on to the next job---no follow through). If all five of your doors have problems, I hate to break it to you but it sounds like your contractor is the actual problem (your pictures look like it too).
