Absolutely disgusted with the night staff at Linksfield, my father had major surgery on Wednesday 15th April and is still there due to the nature of the operation. However my dad was reluctant to tell us how awful the night staff have been, and how the past few nights have been dreadful! I will be laying a complaint as will the other patients in his ward a...

Netcare Very unhappy with how my mother was handled

date: 17/03/2020
cell: [protected]

my mother was taken for a MRI scan on the 17 March 2020, upon arrival she requested to go to toilet, as she is unable to walk she requested assistance from these 2 nurses assisting her.

My mom told the nurses she is not able to walk but they insisted on carrying her untill she fell, not once but twice. I am writing this complaint as a very disappointed client and wonder if the nurses at Union hospital have preference when it comes to their patients because my mom also mentioned that their faces did not look friendly and looked more disgusted.

after 1-2 hours later they came out of the toilet with her and she was in paid because she fell twice, they put her in the corner for the scanner and did not even bother to explain why the put her in order, at the end of 15-20 min the ambulance came back to fetch her as she was admitted at Clinton netcare and was at Union for MRI Scan, the ambulance came to fetch her but i asked them why because my mom has not been seen? they said we were alerted to come fetch the patient, bare in mind that she was not attended to as yet. I am really unhappy and will take this matter forward and want those nurses dealt with for leaving my mom to fall twice even with her back injury.

this is not acceptable and if they don't want to deal with patience of other races they should say so because I am sick and tired of people treating our parents like small children, talking to them like they are not normal.

the reason my mom was there is because she needed assistance and not to be treated like she is there to berg, my dad is on pension and worked very hard for him and his wife to have a medical aid that can provide them with peace of mind when they are sick, but there are people who think they have the right to treat others with disrespect and i don't know what's special about them. I ma really disgusted.

I would like this matter handled because we cannot continue to treat people this way

Racist, Theft and unprofessionalism. Upon My arrival at the Hospital, I had a dehydrated Child who was dosing off, I had to carry her all the way to the casualty with no assistance from the potter or security, or proper direction to the casualty. I waited at the Casualty for over 30 minutes waiting to be assisted. The lay there was loud and...

I was admitted 21 January 2020 to the Pinehaven hospital. Told by the receptionist that my medical aid needs a co-payment of R2500 before i can be admitted for the procedure. This payment was due on arrival before admission. When i claimed the co-payment from Gap cover - i noticed that my medical aid statement reflects a full payment made to the hospital. I...

Good day The 87 year old Mr Philip Jones is in Room 7, Section1, Second floor, Union Hospital. A therapist positioned him in a bedside chair just after 11 am and gave instructions that he be returned to bed at 13:30. When visiting hours started at 15:00, he was still in the chair, grey around the mouth of fatigue. His wife asked the sister (I think Sr...

Netcare can't be given a pain medication

I'm in the hospital and the nurses can't provide me with a pain medication. I called a nurse
at 04:30 to tell her that I'm in pain asking for pain medication, one came and answered me with an attitude to say that I'm a "lodger", I've been discharged from the hospital so there is no way that they can give me medication, she then went back, then called the one above her to come and say the same thing to me (the nurse even asked that don't I have my own medication). Im in a hospital sitting with pain, I have to wait for sunrise so that I can leave as I'm in pain. They don't show any care nor remorse, they even just felt that I waisted their time calling them

Netcare poor level of service from staff at netcare milpark

I am disappointed about the level of service and care that my husband is receiving from Netcare Milpark, my husband Luvuyo Aquil Dlamini suffering from a brain tumor the level of care that the nurses are giving him is poor, from the day we were admitted at emergency rooms on the 8th of December. The service was very slow, the staff have no sense of emergency. Firstly at the wards the nurses don't take in to consideration that he can not do everything by himself after his operation. Secondly even when he request a bottle to relieve himself they take forever and when he messes then they complain that they have to clean it. Thirdly he has been cold and requested a blanket that never arrived and now hes suffering from back pains because obviously he caught the cold. The nurses take long to come even when you ring a bell and he is weak and drowsy to walk by himself and when he does he gets shouted at. Milpark is big and expensive hospital but the service we are receiving it's like we are in a government hospital. Fourthly the nurses come to the wards and make noise which gives him headaches but they dont care they laugh and talk about unrelated work stuff they are not considerate including the house keeping staff. Now he has moved rooms and sections more than 5 times and now they have placed him on a room next to the kitchen where they trow utensils around and make noise which causes discomfort and gives him headaches, and no one monitors the patience it's like they are in a forgotten corner. What happens when he falls or gets a scissure? Today he couldn't get to the wheelchair during the move and nobody wanted to help pick him up.

Can the head office please advise me on what I should? Should i quite my job and stay with him in a hospital that we are paying and take care of him myself?

I am really dissapointed with the staff at Netcare Milpark I expected better. He has even relapsed because of all this unsettling ness.

Netcare poor administration

Akasia Hospital admin is poor, I was happy with them clinically however their admin is VERY POOR. I or no one in my family will set their foot in their hospital again. I am fed up of their poor administration, making myself look like an irresponsible person, being embarrassed in front of my wife and family on a case that I did my outmost to give them enough information.

Netcare client service

My sister is admitted in Netcare Polokwane for two weeks now. When she was referred by her GP she was mobile but now she can't walk and no one has explained the cause. Now since she can't walk and eat by herself, she needs assistance and the is a nurse on night shift called Betty/Beauty who is horrible to patients. She doesn't respond to rung bell or even to assist when one needs to go to the toilet or eat or take medication.
This is confusing and depressing to the patient and family.

Please address Dr Mathole to give feedback after scans or procedures done to the patient. Scans and reports are available but no one explain of the results finding.

Netcare collections department

I'm here by complaining about Mr Johannes Blom, I'm very upset but not emotional, I think Mr Blom lacks respect, his conduct was totally out of order. Today I received an email from him with regard to an outstanding account, of which I acknowledged and I made a call as soon as possible, I tried to call him a couple of times, his phone was always on voicemail, eventually I got another number from another email I had receive from Mduduzi, Mduduzi was so kind to give me another number for Mr Blom. I got hold of Mr Blom, I introduced my self and I gave him the reference number for the outstanding account, The response I got from him was so cold, his tone and telephone etiquettes were so unacceptable it disgusting. I'm very disappointed with his service instead of emailing me a statement of account and assisting me he was rude, arrogant and he hung up the phone without actually assisting me. In future I will refrain from you using St August hospital, this kind of racist behaviour is totally unacceptable. My number is [protected]

Netcare general service and treatment of patients

I came in for a fracture in my hand. We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and were told at 11pm that evening that I have to stay over.
My fiancé was with me during this process and we could unfortunately not make any arrangements for her stay somewhere else.
With my fractured hand we stayed in the lobby with no place to sleep after a traumatic experience.
And no assistance from the ward staff at all. Their reply was go and sleep in the lobby then.
Bear in mind that I was forcefully kept in the hospital with the threats of you will waver all medical rights.
My medical aid covered all expenses, but the surgeons etc still overcharged.
This is unacceptable behavior from medical staff and I will not be happy with a mere reply I would like to have this matter attended to in proper correct manner.

Netcare procedure

My son was admitted into ICU on the 9th June, he had a traumatic brain injury, they also put in a K Pin in his elbow, on moving him to Rehabilitation they did not notify the orthopedic surgeon Dr Venter that he was leaving, as they need to remove the Pin from his elbow . His is still in Netcare rehabilitation and needs the pin out as his in pain, and the medical aid wont pay as his on Key Care, if the ICU had notified the doctor this would have been done before he left, now i have to pay out of my pocket which is really not fare .

I am livid that there was no communication between ICU and Dr, as i'm out of pocket now .

Netcare seems more like a government hospital

I was admitted to Netcare Unitas a few weeks back. I am a cancer patient, having had breast cancer in 2010, being diagnosed with Leukemia in 2014 and relapsing with Leukemia in 2018. I had a bone marrow transplant done at Netcare Pretoria East in March of 2019. For some reason I had a huge amount of fluid that had built up around my heart and had to be admitted to Unitas Hospital. We explained to the Dr's and Nursing Staff, that because of the transplant, I had to be revaccinated in a few months time and that I was doing Chemo at Pretoria East and that because of this I would require a private room throughout my stay. The first two night I got a private room. 3rd night in icu was spent in a ward with about 5 or 6 other patients. The room was so tiny, with nothing but a curtain for privacy. I have spent time in icu before, at other hospitals around pretoria, but hygiene was of utmost importance. Here nurses worked between patients without washing and disinfecting their hands. My daily chronic medication was not administered at the correct times and dosages. My husband had to go through my chronic meds every single day of the 10 days I spent on hospital. I was transfered to high care whick is exactly the same as a government hospital. Between 20-30 patients in one area with curtains separating us. The nursing staff were rude, they knew nothing about dealing with cancer patients. The Ampath nurse hurt me so badly when drawing blood that I actually cried. I'm a tough cookie and have had my blood drawn 100's of times because of my cancer diagnosis. The Ampath nurse said that I had no veins and that she had to draw from the arteries that's why it was so sore. My dr then moved me to a private room in high care. One day as olmy family left my room after visiting hours, I saw a man entering my bathroom and closing the door behind him. I didn't know what to do and I panicked. I immediately grabbed my phone and started recording my bathroom door and rang my emergency button. Just then my son came back into my room because they had forgotten the car keys in my room. I told him that there was a man in my bathroom. Just then my nurse walked in and I told her there was a man in my bathroom. She said no it can't be. I told her to check the bathroom. She knocked on the door and someone knocked back. Keep in mind I was still recording at this point. To my horror A male nurse exited my bathroom. He saw me recording and said he had come to fetch my bed pan for one of his patients. He left the room and came back with a nurse who said she was the shift leader. (not sure how true this was). She continued to tell me that it is illegal to record someone without their permission. I told her I had a shock and grabbed my phone. She insisted on looking at my phones gallery and bullied me into deleting the video. By this time I had sent the video to my mum and my husband already. So even though she made me delete it, I still have copies. She said that the male nurse had come to take my bed pan. I explained to her that he was in the bathroom for over 5 minutes. The nurse then answered saying male nurse had to clean the bed pan before taking it. My question is don't they have a special room where they clean bedpans? He apparently washed it in my bathroom and that is disgusting and unhygienic. Luckily and with much relief I was discharged the next day after spending 10 days at Unitas government hospital "Unitas" needs an urgent upgrade to their ICU and High Care with at least having a glass partition (like other Private Hospitals) My Dr's were excellent but The nurses are terrible and I will never return. I am going to report this to my medical aid as well. We pay 5 star hotel prices for incompetent nurses who cover up for each other, blocking further complains while in hospital. They know we as patients need their help so we just keep quiet. We pay 5 star hotel prices for an icu and high care where hygienic protocol is ignored and patients are at risk. Never ever will I go to unitas again.

I underwent an operation on 25 April 2019. I was suppose to report to the hospital at 12:00. Authorisation was obtained for a one day stay in the hospital. I was discharged the next day before 1:00. The hospital charged me for 2 days. Both my medical aid and the Gap cover insurance is of the opinion that I should only have been charged for one day. I have...

Netcare bad service by gynecologist

On the 26/6/2019 I went to my GP for a yearly Pap smear which was due. The results came out abnormal, My GP phoned me immediately to ask me to book an appointment with my gynecologist as soon as possible. I did such same day and got an appointment of 8 July 2019.
When I arrived at the Olivedale clinic for dr Ndlovu-Mulaudzi, she told me she got my results and had asked her staff to pull my file, that was on the 1st of July according to her
And I only managed to be booked for the 8th
She ordered more tests from ampath, took another sample from me.
We discussed possibility of surgery if the tests came positive.
A week later there's nothing from her or the admin ladies at her office.
I tried to call in, the phones kept on ringing non stop
I got anxious, sent her a text
She just read my messages and ignored me.
I was dying of suspense and called her cellphone. A certain dr answered her phone. I asked what's happening with my results since I was left in the cold.
Today 17/7 I got a call to come sit at her office to wait for a slot to be squeezed. I went there since I was desperate not knowing weather I have cancer or not

To my surprise the dr was very mean to me for following up and getting anxious about my results
She insist that she told me I must wait a week, which I didn't hear her
She accused me of disturbing her while she was doing an important job of delivering, meaning since my medical aid paid her, I don't matter.
I'm writing this I'm very disappointed at the services she's rendering for the R1400 consultation
I'm very disappointed beyond words

I had to change her on my 26th week, I truly think she lacks empathy. Terrible bedside manner, I was so disappointed by how she handled my concerns, went home crying and my husband said, no more, we're looking for another doctor. Ended up changing to Dr. T Mokaya at Sandton Mediclinic, best decision we could have made, the rest of my pregnancy consultations were stress free.

Netcare no account yet/no one call you back

Me and my wife have been trying to call Millpark Hospital to inquire why our Medical Aid (Discovery) have not received the Hospital Account yet from your Hospital.

We have been send from pillar to post, and spoke to over 50 people at your hospital and NO one can help us. We have spent hours on the phone from one department to another and STILL no one can assist us. If we don't get cut off then we are being transferred to the wrong department so no one at your hospital seems to be capable to assist.

ALL we need is the Hospital Account of:

Netcare service

I had a painful eye caused by a piece or metal that was in my eye, at first I thought it was minor but when the pain became unbearable I decided to go to the hospital. I arrived at around 6pm only to be attended to at 10pm four hours later. I was then given eye drops which eased the pain for that moment and was told there were no eye specialist on duty so I had to come back the next day. I was booked for 7am on my way out I asked for eye drops as my eye began being sore I was told by the nurse there was nothing she could do as the pharmacy was closed. I went home and had to sleep through the pain only to wake up worse in the morning. I went to the hospital and asked to please be given the eye drops they gave me the night before as I couldn't bear the pain and she told me the pharmacy was closed. I then asked her to show me the Dr they referred me too and then was told it was out of the premises, I had to drive in my pain to a place I didn't know, which could have been avoided if they told me that last night. I am disappointed.
