1 year ago I responded to a notification that my Norton anti-virus protection was out of date by renewing it online. I was unhappy that I did it in the first place because the original package gave protection for 3 computers, whereas the package I recieved when I renewed it only did one computer. I had no intentions of doing it again, and now I have recived a $99.00 charge on my credit card with the following reciept; NORTON ANNUAL RENEWAL [protected] GB. I would like to be refunded the money as I have no intention of buying this product online ever again
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I have my business in my home and have 3 laptops, 3 desktops, and 2 file servers, all loaded with various versions of norton antivirus software. I have also had probably 100 computers loaded with this stuff. Recently I purchased a laptop and installed Norton 360. Supposedly the best product on the market. Withing 3 days I had a Trojan Virus. I would expect the software to take care of that, so I ran the live update and then did a complete scan. It didn't work. The incessive pop-ups coming. I called Norton Live support and they said that they new exactly which virus it was and that they would help me fix it, for only $99 dollars. s I have had numerous other problems with there software, I said I wouldn't pay and had to do something about it. I learned on my own how to remove viruses. I should never have had to or should they have tried to get more than the $149.00 I was charged. They stink.
I renewed my norton antivirus subscription with DRI SYMANTECSTORE on the Jan 5,2008 for $39.99 after receiving notification that my antivirus program would be expiring in Feb. This charge showed up on my Jan credit card bill, and was on my new card.
On my Feb bill I again received a charge for $39.99 from NORTON ANNUAL RENEWAL. This charge was against my old credit card which had been replace with a new card. This is a double charge for renewal of my subscription which I have had since for several years.
I contacted the credit card company and they are willing to file a dispute but would like me to talk to Norton or Symantec first. The problem is I can not find a way to get thru to explain this problem. The e-mail method does not give me a clear option to talk to accounting, and I really don't want a 30 minute wait on a telephone as is indicated in that choice. The need a simple e-mail contact to resolve a problem where details can be sent like this.
Can you provide a method to resolve this, if not I am going to dispute both charges.
I agree with the above user. I purchased Norton Internet Security 2007 with the hopes it would protect my Computer.
I constantly used "Liveupdate" and had the computer do automatic Scans late at night. Then one day my Screen turned Blue with a message that my computer was infected with Spyware, and Norton did not catch it. I did another Liveupdate and Scan and Norton was oblivious of any problems...
..Norton AntiVirus...is a lousy product!
When I purchased Norton Internet Security in August 2007 it came ith a $40.00 Rebate offer..I waited and complained after not receiving anything after 8 months...then received $20.00.
..Norton AntiVirus...Your also a cheat!
On 3-13-08 Norton charged my credit card with $49.99
On 3-14-08 Symantecstore charged me $63.98 -which includes the amount of $49.99
Please reimburse the $49.99 being an unauthorized charge to my credit card .
This is my 3rd complaint. I can't imagine that a firm like yours will do business like this.
It is already more than a month since this charge was made.

I was wrongfully charged; $39.99, for #NORTON ANNUAL RENEWAL NORTON.COM/CSCA, posted on 04/01, Transaction Date 03/31, Reference Number 0732. The RORDER NO. 22373590BAV. I do not want Norton products or services. I want to be reimbursed. I want my name and address removed from your files.
Thank you,
Robert
My credit card summary for May 2008 shows a charge of $39.99. The discription is DRI*Symantec www.myord.com MN. On May 11, I have a similiar charge for $39.99 with the discription "Norton Annual renewal [protected] CA. I do not believe I should be charged twice for updating my Norton service. Please explane these charges.

I have 2 charges on my recent Master Card bill, one for $51.99 and one for $68.23. I renewed my Norton Security on May 28 and wonder why there are 2 charges on my bill. The invoice I printed out when I renewed it stated that my charges were $49.99 Cdn. I believe there should only be one charge to that amount.
Thank you.
Regarding Norton consumer service they have none. In effect I have been hung on 3 times in two days. A so called analyst by the name David left me hanging and another by the name Nobin. Do not buy this product. I will though my computer out the window before ever using any of there products again. To any future users of Norton I am so angry that this is the first time I have ever used this type of service. It is not correct for any company to take our hard earned money and laugh at you. All the way to the bank.
I paid for a renewal after a trial period that came with my computer. I chose the least expensive of three options. Norton gave no indication that this option was inadequate when I purchased it, but now I repeatedly get harrasing, annoying messages saying that I need to update and that my computer is not protected and that I need to renew. This started as soon as I renewed. I have been looking for any way to contact Norton, found a round about contact but got no results. I now suspect phishing--how ironic. My next step will be to inform my credit card company of apparent fraud.
I have been wrongly charged on my credit card for the amount of euro 60.49 for renewal of subscription, which i have not renewed or have given my permission to be renewed, this is misuse of my credit card details by yourself, i have informed my credit card company and will not be paying this charge or have any business with them in the future.
My check for $39.99 cleared on 7/31/08 for my annual renewal order( # [protected]) the above is correct.
On8/11/08 I was billed again for $42.39, for the same order

charged for services not ordered ... Ref #75412028222201380999905 AND ref #75412028222201380998931 and ref#75412028222201380999483 . Charges of 24.95, 49.95, and 29.95 charged to my Master card. Please refund. I was alerted by my credit card company. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR HANDLING THIS MATTER,
1. I had a message popping up from AntiVirusNT2008 which a Yahoo article describes as very bothersome but non-malicious.
2. I ran Norton 2005 which had all virus defs current. I have a subscription and I ran an update just before doing the scan.
3. I decided to upgrade to 360 v2 - - paid $59.xx - also paid $8 for 1 year maint or something - - downloaded the program and attempted to run. - - Instructions said to first un-install old Norton programs through Windows Control Panel program. I did this. It appeared to be a clean un-install of Norton 2005.
4. Started install of downloaded 360 V2 - - the installation failed.
5. Downloaded Norton Un-install tool - - and ran
6. Attempted 360v2 installation again - - it failed again.
7. Got on Norton Support Chat - - about 7:45 pm - asking for help installing new softare. Got transferred to several people - - a couple tried installation.
8. Someone said the problem was virus infection - - I paid $99 for "consultant" to remove virus -
9. Transferred back to another technician to do installation. He worked on it quite a while without success. He finally stopped trying and stopped responding.
Now it is 2:55 am the next morning and my software is still not installed. I doubt that I needed the virus removed - - if the software was installed that would have taken care of it.
My priority # was [protected] - - I am too tired to look up the receipt number for the $59 software or the $99 'consultant fee' - -
Since I was instructed to remove Norton 2005 I now have no virus protection!
Norton is supposed to protect you, not steal from your bank account, I was shocked to see Norton taking my money without my permission, they have done this to millions, THATS RIGHT! Norton has illigaly stole more the 50 Million dollars from people who trusted them with thier credit card and bank info. Norton for protection, What a Joke!
On 9/25-26 I placed an order for Norton security software. On the 25th I canceld and order for a update of software before it could download. THEY CHARGED ME FOR IT ANYWAY!
On the 26th I placed an order for the full replacement of Norton software for my computer. It appeared to download, but I can not find it on my computer and there is no apparent change in Norton's operation on my computer.
I have tried 3 times to comunicate with Norton to no avail.
I AGREE WITH THES ABOVE USER, THATS THE THINGS WHICH IS HAPPENING TO ME, EXCEPT THAT KNOW I HAVE TO PAY 200.00 DOLLARS TO FIX MY LAPTOP.
I was very surprised and shocked to find a £50 Norton Annual Renewal Charge on my credit card bill. I never authorised this.
This is a request not to renew my Norton Antivirus service. I have tried to phone your company to handle this but am always routed to a web site. I'm not complaining, but do need to cancel my service at both of my locations. I have moved and the computers are in storage for the forseeable future. Please contact me via email or a call to my cell phone so that I can conclude this transaction.
Above all DO NOT renew my service at this time. I will call when I want to reconnect to the internet.
By the way, I did try to access the web site that was included in your email advising me of the renewal, but all I can find there is how to connect to the service not how to disconnect or change it.
Thank you for you help in this matter.
I was under the impression that I had updated my subscription to norton but kept getting pop-up notes telling me that i had not. I responded to the ads and then notice that two charges were made to my credit card.
1st ordr #[protected]
2nd ordr #[protected]
It seems that one of these should be reimbursed.
I am still charged for a product that I haven't download or used for 3 years. I called them to let them know about my decision 3 times and I am still charged for the product and i didn't even download it.
Charged my credit card twice for the same order. I have not used Norton for several years because they never would honor their Rebates. Always some excuse why. So i stopped using them. Now i tried them again and get charged twice. BEWARE ALWAYS SOME PROBLEM!
I used Norton's free performance check-up, it was Norton's way of saying thanks for purchasing "Norton Internet Security 2009" Little did I know it was only a ploy to sell me something else. Namely "Norton PC Tune up Service" I paid for the service and was given a service number and a phone number to call: [protected] I called and was put on hold for over an hour, I finally gave up.
I wrote an e-mail to symantec: nps@symantec.suth.com I explained my complaint as here and I have had no response. I must also mention that this service is outsourced to who knows where.
So good luck to anyone who buys anything from Symantec.
I had a very pleasant experience. When I called for a performance checkup on my computer, I got through immediately and spoke to Ilia K. Ilia was very helpful and patient. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I couldn't have asked for better service.

My husband and I have been having problems with the slowness of our pc even though we have hi-speed. Last night when we tried to download our new Norton upgrade, the system seemed to run fine, at first. Then, we got a pop-up stating there was a problem and the new program did not download. We decided to wait until today to get help from Symantec. I spoke with Wayne who was a tremendous help by first of all eliminating programs that we don't even use and doing a lot of other clean-up. Wayne was extremely patient with me and when I did not understand what he meant or was referring to, he explained things until I finally understood what he was talking about. He also gave me safety hints on password security and how to safely delete unwanted pop-ups. It was really nice to have someone do all the cleanup and installation for a couple of illiterate pc users. Thank you, Wayne, for your patience and help.

On April 1, 2009 I requested Norton to reinstall the Norton Anti Virus on my computer. I was billed in the amount of 56.98 for this service. However, due to some unexpected problem, my computer froze and is no longer of any use. I have since purchased a different computer. However, I am leery of reinstalling it.
Could you please remove this chare from our Chase Account No. [protected].
Thank you.

purchased norton for $69.99 month ago and they telling me that my subscription expired...can't get hold of nobody, just bunch of run around
Got a virus that turned off Norton...really not fun seeing "you have turned off your antivirus" when I haven't done ANY such thing. For a yearly rate I would expect some...I don't know...protection? I honestly would have paid a 5er to not have to deal with constant pop-ups and system checks that 'find' and 'fix' the same virus every day. To be completely honest I have never in my life been so infuriated by a product (and I've owned an ASUS product, so that says a lot)
i paid for the norton for my computer which was $68.69. then i just got my statement from the bank. and you charged to my account to more payment which i have no idea what that is all about?one of 9.99 on 7/2 and the other for 59.99 on the same date.
please remove that from my account. if i had know you would be charging me so much more. i will deal with some other come and not get riped off like that again. so i hope yoy created the error on my account
On 9/19/08 I noticed that my Norton antivirus program was turned off. Message was that there was a problem with my credit card. This was a subscription already paid for on 2/23/08 with an expiration of 2/23/09. The card used expired in 9/08/08 but Norton was paid long ago! I updated my info, followed the directions, and could not reinstall the program. Frustrated and needing immediate protection ( I have an online store) I downloaded a competitor's program and discovered that my computer was infected with numerous viruses not detected by Norton. Explains why my computer now works faster with fewer errors! There was no reason for Norton to block service on 9/08 when they were already paid in February 08! I've had it with Norton and will never use their products again.
I purchase an anti-virus online I order it for 2yrs for the cost of $49.95US
When I check my credit card statement they took out $99.85US
now what kind of scam is that

I purchased and registrated Norton AntiVirus on January 19 2007,
renewed it on Jan 19 2008 and again on Jan 19 2009. In June of
2008 i bought a new computer, for some reason had to purchase the Norton Antivirus again, with new expiration date of June 29
2009. I have 2 identical products while all I need is only one. Although, I am covered untill January 20 2010, I was forced to buy
a new Norton on June 29 of this year or my computer would be
without protection. As it is, I am paying $39.99 every six month.
I want to have this matter resolved and have $39.99 refunded to me
I have recently been charged about $50.00 or so for the norton annual. I was charged this last year as well. I have not had my computer in working condition, I am a student and could not afford to get it fixed. I called and emailed norton to get a refund but no response and noone will answer the phones. They won't even have a automated person say "I'm sorry for the delay, all of our representatives are with other clients at this time, we estimate about 20 minute wait"...nothing! I'm so frustrated and could really use my approximate $100.00 back! I'm so frustrated and irritated because of that and because I can't get a hold of a real person and get this taken care of! I could really be using my money since I currently am still seeking a job! I don't know what to do, I honestly don't have 30 or minutes to wait on the phone listening to music. HELP!
I stopped using Nortons anti virus in may this year 09. I was amased that they can take a sub automaticaly without authorisation. I am trying to get this back but the website does everything but let you contact them. So have gone to the credit card co as well. But no luck so far
I purchased Norton Antivirus and have had it running on my six computer network for years. One of the computers has obtained PC Defender virus, which is a virus that says our antivirus software is not working (duh) and we need to buy another one. This is a very common virus. Norton won't fix this unless I pay them $99.99. Inexcuseable. I've already paid them for virus software, and this is a virus that specifically targets my virus software, and this is a very common, well-known virus. I should not be charged additional money to fix this. I'm moving to McAfee.
THEY PLAY THIS GAME ALL THE TIME. WE SWITCHED TO MCAFEE! WILL NEVER BUY NORTON AGAIN!
I agree they suck. Always had trouble using any of there products under my windows environment.
I use Kaspersky one of the best programs I found.
I downloaded Norton 360 antivirus only to discover that there were 'several' problems with the software. When I called one of thier service reps, I got someone in India that could barely speak english. Well, that was it for me. I removed the software and cancelled my trial after 3 days. Two months later, Norton billed me for $64.99 ! They refunded my money, but in the process they caused 3 overdrafts in my bank account ! It took them (Norton) about 5 days to refund my money, but the fact of the matter is that they had no business charging me anything. I sure wish that they could be held accountable.
I was charged for an annual renewal for norton and I do not have it on my computer anymore, since I got a new one.
Contacted the support, right after receiving the email in which they told me about the upcoming renewal. The support told me they cancelled it on my demand - and just today I got another email telling me they charged my master card today. I am really pissed and angry right now. I'm gonna contact them again tomorrow morning and they better give me a refund during the next 7 days or else...!
