Cockroaches
Shoprite Tsakane Square in Ext 11 has cockroaches, flying cockroaches! We have filed a complain with them several times but nothing is being done. It's utterly disgusting to find cockroaches in your groceries. That shop has to do pest control urgently.
Ill mannered staff and uninterested supervisor
This store will never change. In fact it has become worse than what it was when I last visited.
Once a supervisor acts like they don't care when confronted by a dissatisfied customer then there is no hope for the store. At this point I can openly say the owner of the store has not invested well in their staff.
Madam Lerato shouting at the top of her voice calling on all staff members who want to pay before I can pay while I'm standing right in front of her. Right in front of bored and not interested supervisor Faith, who could only say assit the customer 1st. 3 pleasant staff for me in One store tops it up for me.
Prior to me being next to pay, madam from the butchery department decides to walk right past me and stand so close to the customer who was paying before me... No social distancing what so ever. I wish this store had cameras that could be replayed so someone with sound ethics can assist this store in improving their pathetic and appalling service being rendered to customers.
Right in front of bored and uninterested supervisor Faith, Lerato want to assist all the staff that needs to pay for their personal groceries and ignore the fact that a customer is standing right in front of her. Just to add icing to this rotten behavior, I walk up to Faith who confirmed to be a supervisor and asked her if she thinks the behavior portrayed by Lerato was good and with such a sleepy face, leaning on the counter while balancing her hands on her cheek and sounding half asleep answered... Thats why I asked her to help you. What a sore sight. After seeing such a store supervisor, the behavior portrayed by the staff made sense. Pathetic indeed.
2nd time I'm complaining about this store and the service is deteriorating... I Pity the store owner for having such ill mannerd employees who only work because they need the money and not because it's their passion. A different employee selection process needs to be drafted by shoprite... The employees chosen for this store are definitely not supposed to be in this line of work and it's the owner of the store who will face the disappointment.

Hallo Mariska / Checkers
My bestel nommer is [protected] die bedrag van R1013.06 moet by 26.10.2020 terug in my rekening wees.
Dankie
Complaint about being charged twice
I bought one clover mixed berries juice at shoprite, Van Der Walt Street in pretoria when I get home and check till slip found out that I've been charged one item twice and there was no way I could go back I'm staying far from town.
Steering wheel cover price / bad service and bad attitude.
On 02/10/2020 16:07 I purchased some goods at shoprite in tonkmeter springs, among these items there was a steering wheel cover, on the till this item could not scan but the price on the shelf is r59.99 but the supervisor said it is r69.99 I told her that it is r59.99 they ask if I want a refund and nuy it again I agreed and signed and purchased it again and to my suprise they did not change anything I was doind the same thing and I told the cashier thet the price there is r59.99 can I bring it and show you she did not answer me she gave an attitude and the same lady that I think is a supervisor came and "we have told u that this item is r69.99 do you want or not?" I bought it and left but the attitude and the service was too bad and disrespectful because when I asked for proper explanation another lady called another lady and said "come and talk to her because we speak the same language but we do not understand each other" all this was done with huge disrespect. My question was why is the price tag r59.99 and you are saying r69.99 where is this r10.00 more is coming from and I am still asking that. I have the picture of the item and the names of the people who served me on that day.
Removal of shoes, linen, night dresses
All our disabled people (specially with feet/foot and leg problems) on crutches, are annoyed because checkers have removed all shoes, linen, clothing and night attire from their stores. Checkers is the only shop with flat, comfortable, affordable shoes for disabled people. Where have these items been sent to?, to another shop, it would be appreciated if you can let up us know. Sms or whats your answer to [protected]. Thank you
Money market
I used the shoprite money send facility In Alexandra on the 25th of July 2020 to send money to my mother in Mpumalanga, kwaggafontein. When my sister in Mpumalanga went to go retrieve the money on the 27th on Monday she was told it had already been taken out. I have on numerous occasions contacted the company as a whole, I even came with the police to shoprite Alexandra hoping that this would help but all my efforts have not been successful. I was told head office doesn't allow security footage to be viewed nor do they know who or where the money was withdrawn. How is this possible when one has to use their ID and sign the money-out receipt? Now I'm in a goose chase with shoprite and haven't received proper feedback nor are they saying anything about returning my money. I have undertaken to write to hellopeter, the ombudsman and also will be taking the matter to court. Shoprite has failed on numerous occasions to come to my aid and get my money back to me. It is now Friday the 28th of August and no substantial effort from shoprite to rectify this. This I find to be very unprofessional and negligent towards me as the consumer

Service
This afternoon at around 16:00 I was at Shoprite Kriel. There was only 3 cashiers to service customer's. It was very busy the ques was standing down there aisle's. They have 21 till points availible. When I asked them why there is just 3 cashiers assitting the customer's, I was told the other's are on lunch. I mean 16:00 and you send people on lunch? The shop closes at 18:00, why do you send your cashiers on lunch at that time of the day, when the shop closes at 18:00. They did not even care that the people are basically standing on top of each other, where is the social distancing? The cashiers are also not friendly and at times don't even greet you back. The store is also not very clean at times. There is a horrible smell coming from the back of the store. I think it is time that something be done about this store and staff.
Minor physically searched without guardian
Good day, I am contacting you on behalf of my domestic worker who was at your store earlier this week with her grand daughter. Her grand daughter was grabbed to the security room by the security guard upon exiting the store and had her t-shirt lifted up and she was being touched to determine whether she had stolen goods. I am outraged at the lack of dignity and emotional trauma this 12year old girl had to endure. She was humiliated in front of store customers and treated like a criminal when nothing was found on her. The store then wanted to give her a "power bank" as an apology. This is unacceptable and non-compliant on so many levels. Please revert to me regarding this.
Both behaviors of a supervisor and a cashior
Went to shoprite this morning and had a very bad experience as usual the cashiers there are always having conversations while serving customers in front of their managers and supervisors as if it's something normal.. So this morning had to que outside on a long since its lockdown so there wer 2 ques for grant and one for shopping so was there for shopping...

I had gone to checkers to buy a couple of household goods a couple walked in with their child (who for matter of interest wasn't wearing a mask., however nothing was mentioned to them by the security guard. I have lung and heart problems where I already have problems breathing and I am no heart medication. As my husband can't leave me alone because the medication I am on causes me to black out the security guard plain out refused to let me take my kids inside the shop however other clients permitted. To make matters worse after I had gone to explain to the manager he in front of other client shouted at me how I wore my mask. When even the person behind the till wasn't wearing one, not to mention other customers
I have no problem with rules however they should be enforced for everyone
Online orders
I realize that this probably hasn't been an issue previous to COVID, but it's an issue now. Those like me w/ pre-exisiting conditions, just aren't so safe out in public. We've had to resort to ordering food online, whether it's for pick-up or delivery. *BTW, I have yet to find an open time slot for either service. And even if I could
1) I'm on SSI & the EBT program. Why can't I purchase food online, using
EBT? That means I have to send someone to go shopping for me, just so
they can use my EBT card "in-store". You don't realize how hard that is.
Lots of times, it means I go without.
2) No retailers are allowing EBT for online food purchases, whether it's for
pickup or delivery. I don't see the problem. If we can use it for in-store
purchases, why not online? Food costs can be charged on EBT & non
foods with cash/card, like delivery fees. Just like in-store.
3) Can you please change your policies to meet the needs created by
COVID?
Couldn't put my parcel there
Was in good spirit and wanted to buy some items before the corona virus shutdown. I started at the Shoprite liquor store and bought myself a nice expensive whiskey bottle to celebrate my birthday on the coming Saturday, put it in a shoprite plastic bag and proceeded to the shoprite supermarket within the complex right next door. Went to the parcel desk as I was not allowed to take my parcel in to the shop. The ladies at the parcel desk refused to take my parcel for safe keeping citing that alcohol is not allowed to be taken in for safekeeping and that it was what management told them to do without explanation. I found it odd. Hence I'm enquiring from you what the reason is for such a rule.

Got robbed inside Shoprite stores
On Friday 6th March 2020, I Omphile Sepipi got robbed at Shoprite stores. A lady approached me asking where to get camping chairs, I then directed her where to go get the chairs which were on the other side. I had my purse(which had R2330) and cellphone(Samsung J5 Prime) in my hand. When I reached out to take the camping chair for her, when I was ready to give her the camping chair I realised my purse and cellphone were missing.
I ran towards the security guard, the first guard referred me to the second guard. That's when the second one when went into the CCTV room to request the HEAD of Security to do a search as per protocol. The Head of Security then refused to do a search. She then went on to ask why I was crying, I told her I got robbed in the store then she went on to ask what would crying bring out of the situation. Then my friend who was accompanying me tried to explain to her what happened as I was too emotional and all over the place then the Head of Security told my friend to keep quiet as she wasn't talking to her.
Then she asked me to tell her at which door I entered and to trace all my steps in the store, then she went into a CCTV room when she came back she requested I call a policewoman who was in the shop buying. Then she told my friend that she saw the lady who robbed me on the CCTV footage. When I came back from calling the police woman she then instructed us to go open a case at SAPS.
At the police station we opened a case and were told to wait for a case number they would send it on my mom's phone. We went back to the shop and the Head of Security told us to wait for a case number, that's when they would show us CCTV footage.
Now my problem is this is a norm at Shoprite stores in Brits North West. People get robbed on a daily inside the stores and nothing is being done about this. I have bills to pay with that money. Had the security closed the doors at the time I requested, the lady wouldn't have gotten out of the shop. All I want is for Shoprite to return my money.

Service
Your cashier Onako shouldn't be offering customer service, please train your staff! Having 8 years of customer experience within Woolworths I now understand why your standards will never meet ours! She blatantly refused to ring up my cold drink with my cigarettes purchased at her kiosk counter and told me to stand in the 10 items que which had a line of 20 people, when I requested the manager she told me to go look for him in the office, when another staff member told me his in the bathroom. Her reason for not being able to ring up my cold drink with the cigarettes was "I'm busy" disgusted! First and last time I'm shopping here!
bad service
Good day
It saddens me that I have to inform you of the atrocious treatment I have received today at your above-mentioned branch.
I visited your store on 05 january 2020, after quite a lot of stationary was purchased on the 04 february 2020 by my kids support. I have received a photo of the receipt and displayed this to the supervisor, rebecca on the day. Not really willing to assist and demanded the original slip, I informed her that I do not have the original but a copy and that I would not be afforded the original slip for obvious maintenance reasons. The stock was bought at shoprite midrand. Rebecca then agreed to assist me and requested that I print the receipt as she needs to attach it to the invoice she needs to complete and issue for my refund. I returned today, two days later, I was first told by another supervisor, rozelle ribbert, rabecca was off. I presented my good I needed refunded, explained my situation and showed her the print of the receipt, she took the receipt and walked away. Came back after a few minutes, very abruptly tells me"sorry, you will have to go to midrand to exchange it there is nothing they can do for me. She does not make the decisions, she takes her orders from her manager emma williams". Not allowing me to speak or ask a question, kept telling me she is sorry but she can't do anything about it. I asked her what their return policy is and why rebecca would tell me to make a print of the receipt and come back and this is now the story. Rozelle said she can't speak for rebecca, she may be on lunch or in the receiving…but she just said rebecca was off. I asked rozelle, how am I to get to shoprite midrand to return the good, she told me that that is unfortunately my problem.
I am so tired of these people/leaders in shoprite eldorado park and their ugly, filthy manners, how they treat people in the community. They have no regard, no respect, no self-respect, no integrity, no customer centricity, no patience, no professionalism and absolutely no passion for the people in the area. Do they think so little to nothing about everyone who walks in the store to make a purchase forgetting that should no one walk in there…there won't be a salary for them?
Now… no 1.
This is in complete violation of the unfair business practices act (1988). Which was designed to provide for the prohibition or control of certain business practices that either harm the relations between business and consumer, unreasonably prejudices any consumer, deceives any consumer, or unfairly affects any consumer.
No 2…
Even though you have a return policy, which you do not comply with, a supplier of goods may dictate the terms and conditions of sale and include the returns policy applicable however, the consumer protection act (the cpa) always apply irrespective of the store refund policy.
No 3…
In accordance to the consumer protection act, goods may be returned if the condition of the returned good comply to the implied warranty of quality - conform
Section 56 of the cpa imposes a built-in or automatic warranty that all goods sold should comply with the requirements listed in section 55, namely:
• that they are reasonably suitable for the purposes for which they are generally intended;
• that they are of good quality, in good working order and free of any defects;
• that they will be useable and durable (i.E. Will last) for a reasonable period of time;
• that they comply with the standards act no. 24 of 1945 or other applicable public regulations; and
• that they are reasonably suitable for the specific purpose that the consumer wants to use them for
All the items comply, they are in their original packaging, not used, have not been tempered with.. But…sadly this was not even verified.
No 4…

Our customer commitment
Our customers' shopping experience is what our business is all about and we aspire to:
• treat every customer with respect, no matter the amount of the sale, *this did not happen*
• treat the customer as an individual, not as a sale, *this did not happen*
• satisfy any reasonable expectation a customer might have, *this did not happen*
• take time to understand the customer's needs, *this did not happen*
• take responsibility to ensure every problem is dealt with to a satisfactory conclusion, *this did not happen*

No 5….
Your other mission..
Fair treatment is important in our business
For our group fair treatment is a matter of principle and not compliance and we take pride in our efforts to ensure that each and every customer is fairly treated.
We support the united nation's international guidelines for consumer protection and in south africa we uphold the consumer goods and services industry code and also participate in the ombud scheme and use these as minimum standards for our own internal policy.
•, *this did not happen* - what fair treatment to who?
Finally…point no 6…
This is obviously not a global campaign and on this side of life, we are treated the scum, and this is sadly my second complaint in the last 3 weeks.
What are you going to do about this?

Good morning. I purchased the above product on Friday the 24th of January 2020 for my parents who are pensioners. I am also unemployed and since we are in a tight budget, it was to be a bit of a treat for us as a Sunday roast. However, this is definitely false advertising as it was just a plain pork belly rolled up and elasticized with absolutely no spices. Please tell me how you advertise one thing on the cover but the actual product is entirely different. I'm attaching some pics.
Thank you.
