Car Insurance
Insurance never went into effect on a date established. 01/01/2022 Received less than half my money back for canceled insurance, even though it never went into effect on the date entailed. Slow response from changing New Jersey Insurance to New York, while I was changing States. Car was impounded. Paid heavy fees to get plates surrendered. Sold my car and paid an extra 600 dollars to get my plates and registration to the DMV.
Desired outcome: Please a refund, and email of proof of some type of insurance to NYDMV.
Auto insurance quote
I got a call from a State Farm agent offering to give me a quote. Since my auto insurance was up for renewal I said sure. This agent started off by asking me questions, name, address including city and state. After I gave her all of my information, she gave me a quote and sent it in writing to my email. Since her quote was better than my insurance renewal policy I decided to go with State Farm. She wrote it up and I paid for what she "quoted me and then canceled my old policy. This was a bundle insurance quote, so it included my homeowners insurance as well.
Several days later I got an email from this agent. She didn't bother to call, to let me know SHE had made a mistake and my insurance would be $100.00 more than her quote. That made her quote higher than my old policy renewal. I asked her why State Farm would not honor the quote I had in writing, and she just said her quote was not good until it went through underwriting. I was never told there could have been a mistake and she didn't know what she was doing. Or maybe she did and just hoped I would eat her mistake.
I am 69 years old and on Chemo for Cancer, so I sure did not need this aggravation. She was like oh well too bad so sad State Farm would not honor the quote I had in writing.
I will never trust this company again. A quote in writing may not be what you really have to pay.
Desired outcome: I just want to let everyone know what kind of company State Farm is. I have cancelled my insurance with this company and will never do business with them again. I don't think they are too worried as I will not be around much longer.
Workers compensation insurance practices
I have been with State Farm for many years and have been in business on my own for over 25. In my experience, whenever an insurance company uses Lowry and Associates to do their audits, I owe money. When State Farm did not use Lowry and Associates I broke even or owed a little. This last audit performed by Lowry and Associates showed I owed over $1,500. I paid overtime during covid to keep my employees and by law, it was not suppose to be considered a part of the audited payroll under special circumstances. State Farm broke the law and gives commissions to companies that make sure your premiums go higher for workers compensation. State Farm is a giant red flag for small businesses; especially restaurants. They completely take advantage and railroad small business owners. What can you do, argue with a salesman...? I would contest it, but I have a business to run AND I need to look for new business insurance. I suggest everyone else do the same.
Desired outcome: I would like an independent firm to perform my audits; ABSOLUTELY NOT, Lowry and Associates.
Incorrect date insurance was started, resulted in earlier fine.
Good Evening Jason,
Thank you so much it was received. As you know it was an insurance lapse I am paying for to get my license back. As we confirmed, my insurance was suppose to start January 1st.
INSURANCE LAPSE (IN DAYS) CIVIL PENALTY NY
1 - 30 days $8 per day
31 - 60 days $10 per day
61-90 days $12 per day
I am sorry to bother you again. It is 58 days of overlapping, but with the extra days leads to an extra 20 days. Which means it will be 12 per day, times 20 is 240.00 dollars extra I have to pay. Can I be compensated for that?
In Regards,
Jordan Johnson
Desired outcome: Please refund.
Political Purchasing of Indiana State Law regarding Hail / Roof Claims
State Farm literally paid off specific republican politicians to continue the lower paid on claims from minorities (me) regarding hail/roof claims. SF actually alter the weather climate status of an entire Indiana State, due to two hail claims in a 10-year period- which invoked damage coverage for coverage. Storms which have occurred only a few times in a century! State Farm has one of the worst Community Development HUD payouts due to the "community reinvestment act"! As a minority living in Fishers Indiana, I realize there is a high chance, my claim adjuster is another obscured Trump-pest authorities' bigot. Regardless, that State Farm improved a past hail claim, and stated I was the only home out of 144 properties to be hit by a tornado, disapproving the prior roofing company inspection, when hail damage occurred again. SF hides behind a politically paid new insurance policy under contract in Indiana- that enables them greater capacity to hide behind that recently new rule to not paid out for the rarest of hail roof damage, and especially against minorities which do not hold the cash reserves to confront SF in court. Again, using law to endorse a historical practice of community disinvestment to a minority!
Desired outcome: Cover more than 142.00 of the 14,0000-dollar roof estimated replacement cost.
Contracted State Farm Adjusters
Since filing a claim, June 6th, I have had nothing but issue after issue with these contracted adjusters. I've been cussed at, called names, hung up on, and passed around to the 4th contracted adjuster who tells me he doesn't have time to meet with me. No surprise there. I have even asked for an ACTUAL State Farm employee (not contracted), and I was still given a fly-by-night contracted employee). Thanks for listening to your customer. Utter FAILURE!
I'm done with State Farm.
For the record, I have NO issues with my agent, or local office, but I will NOT be continuing my business with State Farm after this claim has been settled.
Desired outcome: Your contracted adjusters need to complete a comprehensive Customer Service program! Disrespect life I've been through in the past four weeks is mind-blowing.
Homeowners
Had a heavy storm resulting in hail damage. Adjuster stated it was old damage, this company is more extortion than insurance.
Desired outcome: Pay for valid claims
Need to change agent.
Tried to contact new agent and they won't talk to me. My agent is not good about calling me back and has given wrong information about a trailer we tried to insure so was not covered when a tree fell on it.
Then last night we needed coverage for a travel trailer and again got some bad information after talking to three people and was told we had to talk to our agent and the agent would call asap, by midmorning next day. That is not asap.
We insured the trailer with Liberty Mutual because we could get hold of them.
Then my agent said it would have been covered as a new purchase, however, your 24 people don't seem to know that. They just kept telling me to talk to my agent. Since I needed it covered in case something happened as it is not sitting in my yard, we had to contact someone else.
I wanted to get a new agent as we are moving but a new agent won't talk to me.
Desired outcome: I need an agent that will call me back.
Not offering me the settlement that my car is worth
My car was totaled after an accident with a State Farm insured on 6/11, the insurance company admitted their driver's fault, they've offered to pay the remaining balance of the loan, and a price of $12.078 , which is only covering about $25k. However, my car had a Sun & Touring package, and some extra features valued at a total of $3.975, with a Certified Pre Owned title valued at $1.475, a total of $5.450.
I've called the State Farm over several days, it took them 5 days to give me a a rental, they've said they'll have an adjuster to call me last week, it never happened, I called them on the 20th of June, at 9:45am, they've stated someone will call me the day after, and if not, to call them again, I've called them again, nothing happened, and they've never replied to my email either. Please see attached bellow fair market value of my vehicle before the accident!
Thank you!
Desired outcome: To make up for my total car value price, as that was the price of my car valued at that time, nothing more, but nothing less than that. a total of $5.450. Thank you!
Claims
Currently trying to resolve claim [protected]-1. We have been dealing agent Nicholas Webster [protected]). This agent has been unresponsive and unprofessional in handling the claim process. After our initial phone call, he failed to contact us for over 1 1/2 weeks. We then had to make two different phone calls and leave messages to finally get him to phone us back. This representative lacks knowledge and needs to be reassessed as a comparable representative for the company.
The representative has given minimal effort and only just offered for our truck to be taken to a dealership 45 minutes away from our home. My wife is my sole caregiver, I am a quadriplegic paralyzed from the neck down and require 24 hour care. This representative has stated no compensation will be offered for having to arrange for caregiving. And no compensation will be arranged for fuel costs and trying to arrange back-and-forth transportation. As well as compensation for time away from work that will be required to deal with pick up and drop off. This damage to our truck was not caused by us, we are suffering a major burden and not being offered adequate services.
Also it’s being stated since parts are discontinued for brand new replacement we have to accept used replacements. Our 2019 truck has 10,000 miles on it and before this accident was in brand-new impeccable condition. We are now being told that we have to accept less than adequate replacement parts, which will severely devalue the vehicle and never be back to its original condition. The original Caliber collision repair shop that was hired for initial estimate. Has already stated that accepting the offered repairs will never put the truck back to its original conditions. This is unacceptable and putting a major burden upon us financially and physically. It is not ok that we’re not being offered a comfortable compensations. We did not cause this damage, your client did and it’s State Farm job to make this situation right. We’re not being offered anything for our pain and suffering.
The current situation on this matter is breaking laws, and has put detrimental effects upon us. We are requesting urgent and diligent help with this current claim issue. Otherwise we are seeking legal actions and pursuing to the fullest extent.
Donovan & Jenny Raymond
Desired outcome: Correct compensation, disabled individual and laws are being broken.
Single dwelling homeowners insurance
I’ve been a loyal and diligent State Farm customer for 35 years now (since 1987-88 with Jim Witt in Salem, Oregon. We got coverage for the purchase of an Apartment Complex named Oak & Brick. Thereafter we made a purchase of a shopping center in neighboring Keizer, Oregon (The Keizer Village Shopping Center.) on behalf of my Japanese father-in-law (my wife was the President). When we decided to move to Oregon from NY (graduate school at Columbia for me and business school for my wife.). Using State Farm to help cover our possessions in transit with Mayflower Movers, we purchased a home 554 Snow White Way in the venerable Alderbrook Manor section of South Salem. Pringle Creek running behind the house, cheery plum trees in the backyard, a gravestein apple tree on one side, we made tremendous improvements to that home. (Painting outside and inside, a new roof, barge rafters, entrance door, lobby (marble) indoor and outdoor light fixtures, a sun room added on to combat SAD Seasonal affective disorder depression related to the rainy lack of sun during the fall and through the winter months. Skylights were punched in throughout the house, a pine wood all windows and skylights sun room was added on and a custom oak wood office was added on to the house for me with a private shower. From there we moved to Payette, Idaho, with coverage by Brian Halcom in Ontario, Oregon. Brian provided coverage for the 100 year flood that occurred when the banks of the Payette River and The Snake River over ran their banks and wiped out farms and ranches around us. We survived. From Payette where we had an additional child, our fourth, a girl we moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. We did a lot of improvements there as well. All new carpeting, finished carpentry for the kids downstairs bedrooms, and sundry other improvements. We lived there for 10 years getting the three older boys all into college. We moved to Hawaii and bought our current townhouse. We remodeled, out in all new carpet, had electrical work done and brought our homeowners Sears repair warranty with us (they’ve left the island). My time with Kit Okazaki has been good. Covid put a major kink in how things are done now. In 2019, my daughter nervously preparing for college put only one pantie and a bra in the washer and left to go shopping with her mother. The washer failed to register full water, and flooded the downstairs. Our HOA insurance paid out close to 70,000 for the new hardwood floor and other repairs. State Farm paid out about $5.5 thousand. It’s important to note that State Farm paid out almost immediately. Kit Okazaki came to the house himself to assess the damage. This was important because our HOA insurance had let the house languish for a couple of months and mold was a problem. We got mold money, $15,000 and then I found some accounting errors and those moneys were remitted to us as well ($10,000). Most recently family came to visit for Xmas. A newly remodeled bathroom sprung a leak in its the shower lever mechanism and a pipe fitting had to be replaced in the walls. My HOA as did State Farm insisted that the shower fixture constituted my property and the pipe fittings that had to be welded back into place were my problem as well. I paid $2,000 for that repair with $500 from State Farm to help. The Jennair stove below the pipe leak cracked diagonally across its entire surface as we tried to cook Christmas dinner. The guest room no longer available, some family members sheltered at my sons near by and subsequently their entire household got Covid. Meanwhile I was still struggling to get my HOA to see the problem differently. Im any case this last incident clearly promoted the following notice:
My homeowners insurance will be discontinued on July 22. 2022 despite a conservative contribution of $22,500 dollars in premiums for the period assessed that we have been at this residence alone. And this without including U.S. A. Properties holdings.
So for a 35 year period you’d think loyalty would be worth some notice, some warning about being on the brink of losing my homeowners. Just a somewhat covert missive about letting me go. Procedural Due Process is the least of my concerns. As a senior citizen, and a veteran, I consider people like myself to be the bedrock of the American economy. When others are trying to scratch a living out of the current crisis, most seniors will ride it out with pre-established wealth and resources. You’d think companies would consider this reality.
After all these years, moving to another insurance company feels wrong. I would like someone responsible to reconsider.
That is all.
Sincerely,
G.A. & Yoshie Lewis
Retired
Desired outcome: Reinstatement of my homeowners.
Insurance (Doug Helder)
My roadside insurance left me standed for 3 hours on the side of 96 On feb27th of this year. Keep in mind I have full coverage and towing. After 3 hrs my road side finally got a lift to pick me up the 1 tow truck was out of my jurisdiction as I wasn’t sure exactly where I was on 96 the 2nd truck hadn’t got there at the time of me leaving but I found out the next day they never got my car so a 3rd one was sent. When I went to the shop to pick up my car there was heavy damage to the bottom front end of my car. Ground effects and bumper where damaged as was the radiator. My car rides extremely low to the ground and the driver didn’t use the proper boards to lift my car. I took it to the shop that my insurance company told me to go to it was 2700,00 in damages when I refused to pay 500 deductible cuz I was no where near my car when it was damaged they told me to file claim on roadside insurance. So it’s the 8th of June now my car overheats due to the radiator being crumpled. No air on at all and I can’t reach my case worker that is handling this case. I call multiple times a week it goes to voicemail which is full I’ve talked with supervisor and even called a attorney. I pay my insurance 6 months up front and will not ever be using State Farm again after all this is settled. Very upset costumer Mathew Legard
Desired outcome: I would like communication with Algero the roadside assistance insurance company and I want my car fixed. I’ve been paying on insurance for months for a car I can’t drive far without it overheating
My home and vehicle insurance policies
I have cancelled my home, vehicle insurance and stopped all conversations with my agent after hearing about State Farm and their books being donated to schools.
Reading all the comments on several social sites I expect you'll be experiencing more cancellations.
Desired outcome: NO more contact with State Farm!
Rental insurance cancelation
After, Speaking with Amie Kim my agent at 1246 N High St, Columbus, Ohio [protected]
I requested to cancel the renters insurance in April. She stated that I would receive a refund of $47.00. Yet I have not received it after 30 or more days. This is the typical spin conservative, capitalistic companies do to customers. This is unfair and inequitable.
Benjamin James Snipes
Desired outcome: Send my refund check in the mail.
wokness
I have been a State Farm customer for over 50yrs with home, car, and life policies. Not liking State Farm getting into woke social issues providing
transgender books to schools! Please stick with insurance!
Sending indoctrination books to grammar schools
I am a school board member in Colorado, a retired law enforcement officer and 66 years old. Your decision to wade into the politics of Florida is in itself a sign of very poor corporate judgement. The fact that you are funding transgender indoctrination books being disseminated to 5 year olds goes far beyond poor judgement. It is destructive of children.
I will not use your insurance company and will actively advocate others refusing to support your corporation in any way until you reverse course. You are in the insurance business. The opinions of your leadership on social issues have no place in the actions of your company!
Desired outcome: Reverse your policy and educate your leadership on keeping their social opinions out of the business of State Farm
Your entire 'woke' company
I was searching for a quote of my 11 rental properties, home, business and auto and the Fox News State Farm Insurance LGBTQ+ information came up. In following up with several local agents I find that most did not even know about the problem and the others were outraged. In following up, several agents called me back and informed me of the State Farm response which only endorsed what was already an outrageous stance for an insurance company. I hope that State Farm Insurance goes the way of Disney's 'woke' agenda and stock value. I know that State Farm is a mutual company and hope the agent's affected grab some pitch forks and torches at the company's 100 year convention next week. It's one thing to get caught promoting LGBTQ+ to elementary age children but quite another to come back with a full-throated endorsement of the practice. You have sorely misread the American public. Good luck with that.
Desired outcome: Public denial of pushing a 'woke' agenda.
state farm lying and over charging sense febuary
the jermy brown office of state farm in racine wi i been with them 8 years well i put 2 more veichles on in febuary i was going to swith to liberty muteal they gave me a realy good rate so state farm calling them in febuary i changed around the insurance for a cheaper rate so they changed all my insurence to full coverage and cosed me 60 dollers more a month called them every time i got a bill to ask them why did my rates go up they said oh sorry about that we will fix it next month and pro rate the overcharge and refund the over charge 3 monthes they gave me the same story then finnaly after getting everything right they said where not giving back the money we over charged 3 monthes at 75 dollers extra a month then the slap in the face i dropped them and told them i want the mony i paid in advance for the year will not do no business with them again
Desired outcome: like my refund but putting it out there for other people to see before doing business with state farm bad business does not make happy customers
Roof/denial of umpire's appraisal award
My name is Maureen Kirk. I have State Farm insurance on home and auto.
Date of Loss: March 4, 2021
Claim # 03-20T8-35C
My roof sustained wind damage. I was sitting out in my backyard when this occurred. The wind tore my gate right off it's hinges and slammed it into the back yard. In Arizona we have Micro bursts. A micro burst can pick up a moving vehicle and flip it. Needless to say, it can be extremely damaging.
Reported loss to State Farm. State Farm sent one of their appraisers over to [censored] damage.
Fast forward..ended up in the Umpire faze as I did not agree with State Farm assessment.
On March 3, 2022 I received notification of Appraisal Award, signed by the Umpire, Jeff Guillbault and appraiser John Green. This award is binding to all parties.
State Farm refuses to acknowledge Appraisal Award and pay the amount awarded. Now, if it was reversed, you know damn well State Farm would be telling me that the Appraisal Award is binding and that is the final decision. They reuse to pay the award.
Desired outcome: Pay the Appraisal Award.
Auto insurance
Vehicle hit by two separate policyholders in two separate instances and trying to work with them and their network repair facility has been a nightmare. They are definitely delaying payment on purpose which has caused them to be sued in the past. Two incidents first accident 12/20/2021 front end passenger side hit in a school parking lot(hit and run), took a bit to figure out who the student was and get insurance info, second accident was due to weather on 2/14/2022 and their policyholder was following too closely hit the back end, both policyholders admitted fault. Took vehicle in for estimates on 3/15/2022, their network adjuster/repair shop submitted wrong estimates initially, I asked for corrections, they submitted corrections. State Farm claimed for over a month that they weren't receiving updates, wrong department has claim(total loss) it is being transferred to another department(happened twice). Finally just had shop send me estimate and copy me on emails to state farm because as you would guess, today they claim they only received the one estimate which was incorrect per 5/5/2022. But once again it is with the wrong department and needed to be transferred so they need just a few more days.
Desired outcome: Pay claims in a timely manner, escalate claims when they have not been paid in a certain period of time, provide a specific contact for claims rather than going through different people each time and getting different information.
