re-using gloves
This place is plain awful... I entered the store to find a team of thugs trying to get people to play three card molly... One of the guys ask me to hold a hundred and I told him I was fine. I sat down to only realize there was beef between 1st and 2nd shift. They were going at it... Something about she was tired of coming in only to do work that was left from the 1st shift... So finally she was nice enough to finally take my order with an attitude... As I waited for my food I noticed the cook using the same gloves to empty trash, pull food from the refridgerator and then prepare it as if he was following policy. I was outraged! Then to top it off travis the unit manager pulls out a cart full of food that needed to be put in the cooler... It sat ther over 25 minutes while they laughed and talked as if there store was number 1.

Need new manager someone who will be able to hire and train new people. Need someone who will give the people who work there what they need from the stock room. Need someone who will come and cook the food good and fast. They try to get other shifts to work second shift and there is no business there. They need to pay second shift waitress medium wage until business builds up. Someone help before the good people who are there decides to leave.
I like Waffle House

Hey there
I work at the waffle house in Decatur Alabama where the manager's name is Mary Evens. I have to say what a joke letting a woman who has had an operation on her foot and allow her to go back to work knowing that she is in so much pain that she is making everyone hate going to work. Since she has taken over store 270 I have lost alot of money in tips because no one wants to come in. We never have anything stock in the store to use so we have to wait until we get real busy before she will let one of the waitress go to the conversary to get what we need. It hurts her to stand on her feet to long so the waitresses are cooking also and not getting paid for it. The other cooks on the other shifts and maybe I should include morning shift cooks also do not do prep work to make sure there is food to last through the night. I have seen raw sausage in the gravy. The chili is not made right half the time. Even when their is 2 cooks on the weekend most of the food still comes out wrong and we are losing money. I also have seen more food given away because of the mistakes that the cooks make. I love working at waffle house but this is to rediculous. Gosh I hate to look for a new job. We need faster cooks and some good first shift waitresses. The night shift waitresses need to be replace also. There are a couple great waitresses on first shift but could use a few more.
reverse discrimination
I've worked with this company for alot of years. I moved here 6 months ago and began working at the most unproffesional unit I've ever seen unit 325. Apparently at this unit if your white your expected to do all the work even theirs. Your expected to work any time your needed. But if your african american you can wear dirty uniforms, open shoes called crocs, and leave without ever doing your job. If customers complain it's laughed off because apparently they're above reproach. I've seen white people who asked about a job get told none were available but a black person is hired. Being white I'm treated like I'm beneath them. I've brought this up several times to my regional and area managers only to be told they don't want to hear it. So I've decided to hire a lawyer maybe then they'll listen.

Yes! Welcome to Georgia.
That is how it is everywhere in the South. Do like me move away from this element that is ruining everything.
well did they?
unfair no hire list
I also worked for a waffle house and was also treated bad by the management there. Jasper Alabama matter of fact. I was put on the no hire list for reasons that is not true. I was one of the best employee that waffle house had. I was never late and even showed up when it snowed. Rarely sick and I worked really hard beyond what others did there. I was not...

She has worked off and on for Waffle House in a number of different locations for about 14 years and NEVER has she EVER had so much trouble in one store. racial profiling behind the counter
Waffle House prides itself in being America's place to eat; offering sometimes good food, and pleasant service with a smile. Though in truth those smiles are often faker then many realize. Nowhere is this more apparent then the location at 219 So. Clayton St. in Lawrenceville, GA. Arrive any time after the traditional breakfast, and lunch rush, and a cloud...

you offend one way or the other when you say Happy Holidays rather than Merry Christmas. Last night I went into my local Waffle House restaurant and told the waiter Merry Christmas. He responded Happy Holidays. I asked why he said that rather than the traditional Merry Christmas greeting. He shared that he was told that was the Christmas response they were to give to their customers. Either way someone is offended with the Happy Hoidays or Merry Christmas response. From God's word it reads "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord". St. Luke 2:11 King James Version. Let us beaware that we can even offend Jesus Christ--after all it is His birthday.

very rude staff
My boyfriend and two friends of ours were in Galveston for the Lone Star Bike Rally. Our hotel was across the street from The Waffle House. Upon returning from the rally we parked the bikes and walked to the The Waffle House for breakfast. Because it was Halloween, we had on costumes. My boyfriend was wearing jeans that we had cut some holes in (not realizing the back pocket ended up with a hole in it) He put the keys to the bike in that pocket and needless to say they fell out. A waitress held up the keys asking if anyone lost their keys. Our friend saw this but didn't mention it until the next morning when we couldn't find our keys. We walked over to the The Waffle House to ask if they could look around for the keys. The people were so rude...they refused to look around or call any of the staff that had been working the night before. Later that night, my boyfriend called to see if one of the night people knew where they might be. Sure enough they were sitting right next to the register. Now we will have to make a 4 hour round trip to pick them up when it would have taken all of 4 seconds for the rude***** to look for them.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I don't understand them not looking around for them because that's dumb. It would have taken the staff all of two seconds. But I can understand why they didn't call the people who were working the night before. When I'm not at work, I don't want to be bothered with calls from work asking me questions.

After getting off work on July 4th, My husband and my daughter and I went to Waffle House for a late dinner. I placed an order to go for two all star plates. Well after getting the food and taking it to my son, he calls me and tells me that there wasn't any bacon, his girlfriend had one egg, no chili and 2 pieces of tomatoes was on his hashbrowns. I paid over 15.00 dollars for this food and to not get all that I was charged for is a shame. If the people there working spent more time paying attention to their job instead of listening to the Ipods and texting the their cell phones the service might be better. Get better people to work nights at these places and your business just might fair better then it does. I won't go there again, I assure you.

We are visiting Naples from out of town. We have been to this Waffle House on two or three occasions because it's walking distance from the hotel and open late. The late night employees there are the absolute rudest people we have ever encountered at a restaurant. Every single time we have been there the employees have extremely nasty attitudes. Second...every single visit they have screwed our orders up. They have either gave us the wrong order, burnt the food, and the last straw last night was the chicken sandwiches we brought back to the room were raw! We made a complaint with the manager and he acted as if he could care less. Needless to say...we will NEVER return again. We wasted money on raw food or burnt food or wrong orders on more than one visit. We do not reccommend this place to any one unless you like rude service or getting sick.
my husband and i went in and ordered there was one young lady in there very nice, took our order she went to get the cook but, he was coming out the door at the same time she was going to get him he came out with her with an attitude, like dont be pushing the door she said i didnt see you instead of letting it go he kept on hassing her it really made me mad so i told him forget my breakfast i went out the door then i went back in to see the manger because he was rude to her .i was there to eat not hear him with the attitude he had with her if he didnt want to be there he should have called in.when i went back in he said he was the manger i told him he was rude and old her apoloige he did apologized to her .the manger needed an attitude adjustment. dont be rude to your co workers .
My family and I ate at the Smyrna, De on April 15 at about 4 a.m. location this morning. I have always gotten good service at this and other locations, until tonight. While we ordered our food, the cook went to his car and spent time talking to a woman, when he returned he went straight to the grill without washing his hands. When our food arrived there were several mistakes made (wrong toast, missing onions on hash browns and we had to ask later for my chili). We asked the server to simply fry us up the onions and bring them out instead of remaking the whole order. We had to ask the cook for refills and asked for my chili after ate my meal. When we asked the server about the onions she LOUDLY announced, “They’re coming alright!” and continued to run her mouth to anyone and everyone in the restaurant about us. My sister in-law commented to the server “I’m sorry but we did order it that way it’s not our fault it was wrong.” Then the waitress said” look I do not have to serve you. I’m not bringing you your toast now” to which we replied, “well don’t expect a tip with that attitude” she said she did not care and walked away ignoring our request for her and the cook’s name. She came back with our receipt (her name scratched off) and ran her mouth to every customer in the place about us using very colorful language. We ask the cook, who was quiet through all of this, what her name was, his reply was “Dave” we said no her he said “Donny” and she laughed aloud. The scratched off name looked like dauphine or something close. At that point I said “if you’re not serving me I’m not paying” she replied “I don’t give a s**t it’s not my money”
I can’t tell you enough how mad and astonished that anyone with this type of attitude has a job working with the public. I am done eating at Waffle House at this point. I have never been treated with such disrespected at any place ever. I will be spreading the word of my experience to everyone I know.
Thank you

The waitress' are either to old to be a waitress or to rude.
The cooks are to slow. All around service was awful. Waffle House is not what it used to be. I have a family of 12 to 15 that used to go at least once to twice a week, now we got to find a different place to go. Thats sad that we as the public has to suffer such bad service.
My name is Evelyn Pele. My phone number is [protected], I would like someone to apologize to my family and I.
To supervisior or management:
I was in this waffle house this afternoon around 3:15. I had order a small salad. The waitress told me there wouldn't none made up. She didn't offer to make one up. The other strong complaint that I have is I notice when the cook was preparing food, she doesn't wear gloves. She was handling all the food that we order and wearing no gloves. This really turn my stomach. I have worked in a school lunchroom before and the workers wear gloves. When the waitress brought the food, I notice that she had let one of the sandwiches touch her apron which I thought was very unsanitary. I think that I need to run this by the health department and get there opinion on it.
Thank-you

We arrived at Unit 440 off Montague Ave. on July 14th at around 8:45pm and there were no customers but all the tables were dirty. We stood and waited or someone to come and clean them. We ordered our food and i told the waitress please cook my eggs very well. she brought them back almost not fried at all. she took them back to the cook and he complains about how i want it! my son ordered a chocolate milk, she brought him a coke. as we were eating, two waitresses went into the back and started yelling at each so loud it was unbearable! The waitress just hovered over our table and kept asking literally every 2 minutes if my husband wanted more tea after he stated no the first 2 times. I then made up my mind that I will never return to this location ever, ever again! This was ridiculous! No professionalism in this place at all!
The Friday after Thanksgiving of 2017, my husband and I left Dallas, enter this small town Alvardo, Tx. on our way to Killen. We decided to stop at this waffle house, but they refused to sever us we sit there for 20 mimutes and no one say anything. The manager at the time (Jare Whiten) they were rough. It were the Friday November 26, 2017, we had a wonderful thanksgiving with the family and we come across Racist this day. We know it still exist, but please put a cap on it. My Husband I look and got up left.
Ok, I called the WF after Xmas eve, when the 3rd shift walked out, rather than stay and work. The 2nd shift was going bonkers, after all they are the only place open. Then 2 hours later the 3rd shift is allowed back to work. Well I called to complain, about what they were saying, and to uphold the manager. What happened? They complaint department, gave me a higher like regional manager who I talked to and then told the employees in question what I said and even embellished it. Needless to say when I went back and had to face one of the employees it was not nice. IF they keep running a business like this, then they will go broke.
On March 12, 2017 8:30 AM Waffle House located at 9293 Hwy 48 Gulfport, Mississippi. My son got home on leave from Iraq, still in his uniform. When he got off the air plane he stated he needed something to eat and wanted to go to a waffle house. We sat at the counter for 45 minutes being ignored, a bus boy did give US a coffee and tea. I attempted to get the waitresses attention twice by saying 'mam', as she passed by me, within two feet of me, but was ignored. As we were leaving, without eating, we were charged for the coffee and tea, workers at the Waffle house acted like it was a big funny joke about not serving an active duty Army man. Beings back in Viet Nam doesn't it. Coming home to AMERICA and being treated like this. I am calling for a BOYCOTT of all waffle Houses in the WORLD.

hair in food
My husband and I were hungry around 3 am so we decided to go to The Waffle House. When we got in in we were treated very well. The only thing about them was that no gloves or hairnets were worn. I ordered eggs and as I was eating there was a red strand of hair weave in my plate, so I decided to get a salad it was not fresh and looked like it had been in the fridge for days. As the waitress brought us our glasses she grabbed them by the inside, we were very disgusted with this filthy restaurant and workers.. I called the next day and explained to the manager what happened she just said ok and... Please dont go to this filthy restaurant just like us you may not make it five miutes...

terrible experience
Southern Waffle House purchased the Nashville based franchise from Tree Top Group in 1999 by the Shaub family and have grown the business now to 113 stores. Those of us who grew up with Waffle House (from the 1950's) know that WH is a legend in their own time, and we know and appreciate what we have had over years. SE WH recently chose Chapter 11 bankruptcy to cure their problems and now it appears their are other, more malicious events including check kitting, embezzlement of company funds, numerous harassment charges by employees, poor hiring practices, unclean/unsafe food preparation, taking advantage of new employees, rampant stealing by employees and management, drug use by employees including sales in their bathrooms and this can go on and on. Numerous calls and written complaints to corporate management in Georgia brings nothing and the local store is informed and the complainer questioned by store management, in one case told to not come back to the store solely on the basis of a justified complaint.
This WH franchisee will hire anyone based upon their ability to breathe and to sometimes wash their hands. They hire druggies, common criminals, major criminals who are not screened for the protection of their customers sake, active and ex prostitutes, barmaids who have been run out of the liquor business. They go out to the truckstops and pickup 'pavement princesses' to act as waitresses, hire them THEN ignore the stealing, shortchanging customers, etc.
After nearly 50 years of patronizing WH, locally in Nashville and traveling the southeast, we will not grace the foyer of any of these hashhouses again. Hash used to mean a food substance now it appears as an illegal substance. Unforgivable, not worth your money, your self esteem or your time to support. These are trash houses serving food not fit for humans OR animals and they need to close... starting with SE Waffle based in Nashville and regionally with their 113 stores. Garbage merchants...

Very good description. Said it better than I did. Apparently you remember when it was quite the place.
I visited my daughter and grand kids over the Thanksgiving holidays and we went to Waffle house No 353. My wife and i ordered a patty melt and we dreceived two pieces of white toast with a slice of cheese on each and a hamburger patty with no grilled onions or pickles and it was open face. The server and cooks did not know what i was talking about when told that this was not the patty melt but just a cheese burger with two slices of cheese and then that took the plate back and came back with a couple of half grilled slices of onions. I though that the personnel was trained better than that and have never experience such at any of the waffle houses in the Metro Atlanta Area and we do go often to the local ones.
unfairness
The manager in the waffle house (alabaster al) does not treat employees equally. She has her favorites and it really shows. I was a first shift employee for 3 months and she hired back a girl who was working 3rd and gave her my first shift position. I talked to the manager about it and she told me that the girl never quit. (even though she was put on the no...

Cuisine
On July 25th 2007 between the hours of 6.30 and 7.25 PM. we were harassed by a Waffle House Manage named Connie.
First Connie demanded that we order immediately because there were other orders in from of us. We explained that we were waiting on another person and connive responded with a "Whatever" and turned around and walked off.
A very nice young man by the name Carl waited on us later providing excellent service. When our other party arrived her car bumped into the curb. Connie mad a big issue of this stating that a man by the name of Stafford Belk would be more than happy to sue her for damages if there was any. When the young lady went out to move her car, Connie confronted me with the threat that I would be held responsible for damages. I informed Connie the vehicle was not mine and I would not be held responsible for anything. Connie told me not to get sassy with her that Stafford Belk had sued and won a case against somebody else for $800.00 for driving across the grass and that she was going to call him and tell him that it was my fault.
Upon inspection there was no damage including even a black mark on the curb, things settled down for a while and Carl continued to service our table until Connie out of cruelty alone demanded he clean up his section and go home.
We cut our meal short, paid and went to a adjoining parking lot to wait to see if the police or Stafford Belk came since the threat had been made. While in the adjoining parking lot, Connie came out of the back door and glared at us while smoking a cigarette for at least 15 minutes.
We later went to the other Waffle House on Cherry Rd. where we had excellent friendly service and was informed by the waitress that many customers had came into the Cherry Rd. Waffle House with similar complaints and it would be best not to go back because Connie's husband also worked at the Anderson Rd. Waffle House and they had a reputation for starting problems with customers who had previous bad episodes with either, then having the customer banned from the premises.
The cherry Rd, Waffle House waitress also informed us that she had been banned from the Anderson Rd. Waffle House property by Connie and that Connie had been recently fired for spitting in a employees face but rehired as manager again within a few days.
In retrospect; It is tough enough to put up with a person having a bad day who is paid to wait on you but would rather threaten customers directly and through third parties to extort or sue you for $800.00 for bumping into a curb, and it's even tougher to see that person abuse their position by being cruel to their subordinates...
I would strongly suggest anyone not wanting to witness or be a party to the same treatment not go to the Anderson Rd. Waffle House.
