I have been a Cell C customer since its inception and feel I deserve better treatment than this..
I am a senior citizen with no income and no pension. I wanted to cancel my one contract which ended 30 July 2023. I phoned on 30 June to cancel for 30 July.
On 30 July I phoned Cell C again to make sure it was cancelled, and was told to phone the cancellation department as it had not been done. This I did and was told it had now been done!.
Unfortunately I just presumed it had now been cancelled and only checked my statements this morning. To my astonishment I see I was still being charged on this number that was supposedly cancelled (I have 2 other contracts I was checking on).
I phoned the cancellation dept and customer service, who told me that this contract only ends on 30 July 2025. In other words, instead of being cancelled, this contract was renewed without my knowledge. Now i am told i must go to the police to make an affidavit and open a case for fraud. Really... I don't know how this happened - not once but twice... Please help me cancel this, as i cannot pay a contract I dont want.
