customer service
I came into store . Was not even there for ten minutes when the cashier rudely and loudly yells anything in particular you are looking for ?! As she was checking people out and so many people around me . I was with my boyfriend looking through the clothes section ! We were so Embarrassed she treated us as if we were trying to steal but we were literally in the aisle across from her and she was able to see everything we were doing . For that matter she could have asked anyone else who was looking the same question, we simply said no ma'am just looking . Very offended and completely out of order for her to yell at someone like that stores are obviously for looking . We did our shopping and left quickly .
manager amy
Amy is a newer manager at a dollar general ride down the street that I frequently visit. I typically love this store for it's location close to my home, but this manager Amy is so so rude and always hot headed and angry. I went on three different occasions while she was there and it was miserable. I went with my 65 year old grandma and she was constantly rolling her eyes and saying things slowly and rudely to my grandmother like she was slow, she's 65, nowhere near slow. It went on for about ten minutes of battling the card reader and digital coupons until I finally said "you could be nicer right now". It wasn't our fault, it was the computer complications. She immediately screamed back I AM BEING NICE. That alone was such a hypocritical statement. I then said you're rolling your eyes and extremely impatient with my grandmother we are trying just like you. It's uncalled for. She didn't like that very much and screamed at us to get out of "her' store. I waited outside while my grandmother finished her transaction. We were both so shocked. Then I went back on another occasion and she wad screaming st the Coca cola truck driver for simply dropping off his order. He said it wasn't up to him whst to drop off they ordered it. She grabbed her phone and said "she doesn't have [censored] room for this in her back room she doesn't want that [censored] here". The truck driver finished his order and left. Another time she yelled at another older man for not using the card reader right. It is so demeaning and the worst case of customer service I've ever seen. I usually dont report people because I feel it's not my place, but she's making it miserable for customers just to shop there. It's right around the corner from my house and I'd rather drive an extra five miles out of my way then deal with her. She definitely needs more customer service training, or a new line of work. I fear for anyone she trains for she is not fit for customer service.
The worst thing about this is that my grandmother has accidents sometimes because of her old age. I was so angry at amy at this time that when she had an accident I slapped her and told her that I was ashamed to be her grandchild. Someone saw this in the parking lot and asked her if she was okay, and if they needed to call the police. I apologized later but she is still upset at me and is thinking of pressing charges because this is not the first time that I hit her.
cashier being very rude to my son.
My sixteen yearold son went into your store on 814 north first street Sunday evening around 7 or 8 and purchased drinks and candy . The cashier was a darker complected male with dark hair . My son laid his money on the counter but had not yet smoothed it out to hand to him . The cashier very loudly berate my son and told him to that he wasnt ""coming in HIS store and laying money down like that to pick it up and smooth every bill out or get out ! He did not even give my son the time to do so in the first place and he embarrassed him for no reason . He had no right to talk to him in that manner it was completely uncalled for . My son has severe social anxiety and this trip to the store was a big stepping stone for him and your cashier completely sent his anxiety into overdrive . I have worked in customer service and I know this is not protocol. The employees in this store seem to think that customer service is not warranted and they treat customers however they want . I expect something to be done about this as I am also going to contat the district manager and regional manager as I am tired of being treated in this manner at this store .
find your son a good therapist. the cashier sounds lazy and frustrated over nothing.
honey peanut butter
I purchased a jar of clover valley honey peanut butter from a local Dollar general a few days ago.e and my daughter unfortunately had eaten a samdwhich out of it already my husband go to take a fork as he is weird and does that. He proceeds to pull out a rats tail. Upon further investigation the tail was not the only thing I'm the jar. I have pictures of all of this I have the jar and its contents in a plastic bag. I do feel like me and my daughter are both disgusted . We vomitted for I don't know how long. This is so disgusting and I'm dissapointed. I haven't went to the media but I do feel as it someone needs to contact me and talk about some sort of resolution because stuff like this should not happen.
I have pictures and why would I come on here and lie about something so nasty. Also why would I even tell that I ate a sandwich from this. I tell you what you go get a jar with a mouse in it and eat it and not expect anything a apology or anything. I never said anything about a dollar. How about you point your finger back at yourself. It actually made me laugh that you would consider I huniliate myself for everyone to see to lie and for what you quote a dollar. God bless you and good night.
yeah let’s see it
Let's see your pictures
alright then let’s see the pictures. and there are PLENTY of reasons to lie about something like this. people do it everyday.
I’m sorry but this is just a straight up lie lol. stop trying to get attention and money.
manager
The Manager here is horrible at her job...she is not friendly to the customers or the staff. She doesn't seem to know what she's doing, and is often in her car on break, sometimes for 20 minutes at a time, leaving whoever is in the store on their own. She never has the work schedule done, and lately we never know if we even work the next day or not until closing time, or a text or phone call late in the evening the night before. It makes it impossible to have any kind of life outside of the store. It gives the employee the feeling that they are "on call", only because the manager lacks the skills (or doesn't care due to being ignorant) to make the schedule out. This leaves the employees wondering if they work the next day or not...every single day!
The customers can see the laziness of the person in charge, and feel the frustration from the employees due to this manager. Due to her inability to do her job, business has been lost at this Dollar General, and a good employee is going to be very difficult to convince to stick around under these conditions.
Someone hacked my account
GREAT SITE I CANT EVEN REPORT COMMENT OR REMOVE MY ACCOUNT
This is ridiculous, my accoutn was hacked - that last comment is crazy
Unfortunately, it seems that our poster is another incompetent employee that thinks because they managed to show up for their fourth shift it affords them an MBA and the divination of being able to manage a business unit designed to produce $2MM in sales. Let's start with the Manager being in her car on her break. Firstly, it's her break. She can be in her car. Don't be an obtuse idiot. Secondly, her scheduling is likely predicated on minimum wage workers being in the store, and offering minimum effort. It's no wonder the store likely appears as if a bomb went off in the seasonal aisle. She has to try and motivate you know it alls into getting that right along with preventing drool from prematurely staining your shirt. Also, without direct access to the P&L and commenting intelligently on the totality of the business, it's improper to say that you can gauge the realistic impact of customers being unsatisfied. The whiny retiree that might not buy their can of V8 at your location is not going to make a profound difference in the overall bottom line of the store. Grow up.
manager
My 13 year old daughter, her same age friend and I were in the store to pick up a few things. The wall in the store is yellow and my daughters friend was wearing yellow and asked my daughter to take her picture in-front of the plain yellow wall with no merch in that spot. 5 min later my daughter comes up to me crying because the manager Barbra decided to pull my kids over and yell at them for breaking the law and made them delete the photo. She kicked my child out of the store and threatened to call the police on them. Do you remember the story about the little boy who got kicked out of a store and end up dead. This lady did not even ask my child to speak to her parent. She had no right to make her delete a photo or scare her to think she was going to get arrested for taking a photo of her friend in front of a plain yellow wall. My child was very distraught and cried and cried. shes a good kid and this lady used her for her amusement.
employee aaron bost
Hello I am in mountain Home AR . A employee by the name. Aaron Bost has came up to my kids touching them grabbing them one day he took a small garden hoe and tripped my son cause his whole side to be black and blue this last time he took a box cutter asked my son if he wanted to taste his own blood I have made complaints to his manager. Well tonight my nieces husband walks in as I was walking out telling him that he was going to hurt me not knowing that was my nieces husband or that that person knew me nothing gets done and this sicko won't stop I have more photos I will attach when I get a call or email
the manager was rude
We came to the dollar general in Prichard, AL and was getting at least 30$ dollars worth of stuff and had 100$ dollar bill and the manager got a bad attitude when he seen we had 100$ bill. He for one didnt want to take our money and let us pay for our stuff and had a bad attitude as soon as we walked up. I told him we didnt mind waiting for the safe to open and we could get our change that way. Keep in mind this is the STORE MANAGER that was checking us out. He simply did not want to check us out. Told us it would be 20 minutes for the safe to open. I know for a fact it's anywhere from 5-12 minutes for the safe to open. Been in retail all my life. Then proceeded to snap at us and tell me to get my stuff off his counter he needed the space. I don't know if he was just having a bad day but his attitude towards me and my fiance was uncalled for. So we just left without any of the things we needed. All the stores that Doug is over have managers with bad attitudes. 👎
Wont be back to that store.
lack of managerial assistance
Visited the Ketchum OK store a few days ago. Young man on register. Several people in line, some with many items, some with one or two. I had one item. The young man may have been new on the job; was moving very slowly. After a couple of minutes, I requested him to please call the manager to the front to possibly open another register. He said that he would when he completed what he was doing. He then told me that he could not contact the manager because the manager was on break.
I returned the one item that I had in my hand to the shelf, and left.
I believe that the customer would best be served if the manager is accessible; especially, if many people are in line and it appears that the cashier is new.
Thank you for accepting this feedback
Wow. Managers get breaks, too, you know. Try being a little patient and understanding next time.
disrespectful
So I think dollar General employees is more worried about limited coupon and about making sure that the coupon matches the item and making sure that the coupon don't exceed the volume off the product meaning doesn't give any overage mean while they are forgetting about all the other stuff meaning people stealing and walking out the door with stuff and they don't even notice because they're too busy checking the coupon which they get paid for so sometime it makes me feel like its easier to steal then to coupon when I walk in to dollar General with coupon I feel like if aim sterling not couponing and they are so disrespectful when it comes to couponing like we take our time to cut and organize these coupon and and then we spent all this time organization and cutting and when we go to the store we have a hard time using them
It's not the cashiers fault, they are just trying to save their jobs. Corp office will contact the manager and the cashiers can be fired over coupons.
The employees are just doing their jobs. If your coupons are legit, you have no reason to be upset.
customer service techniques and product availability.
I visited the Dollar General store on FM 917 in Alvarado Texas today looking for a specific Dental product. The manager on duty showed me about 9 tubs a product that she had not opened and put out yet. I asked if she could look through it and find the product I needed and she told me she would it within the hour and give me a call I left my number. 2 hours has passed and I called the store and got told the managers on lunch and the lady answering the phone had customers backing up as she was speaking to me on the telephone. I did not receive a time that the tubs will be gone through and put away.
I know I was at Dollar General at Southpark today there was a woman named Jill working there she was very rude to me I don't know what her problem was she looks like she was tired she is very crabby and very rude to me she should be fired from her job
You asked her to dig through 9 totes of freight for 1 specific item? That's ridiculous. She obviously just told you what you wanted to hear so that you'd leave her alone lol
putting a store right across the street from my house.
My name is Robert Elter, This town that I live in never informed me that they were to put a store across the street from my house. Now I had put in a complaint when I first herd about it and that was from a friend. But I guess the town did not put my complaint in. They snuck this in without me knowing. I dont want this to efect my house when I go to sell. The people that voted yes dont have it across from there house.
the manager at store 15857
I'll start by saying half the customers don't like her. She's rude and don't know [censored] about managing her employees.! She lets hard working people walk right out the door. I was understood every employee had to work all hours. Not the case at this store. I worked there 9 moths. Never called in, never was late, I busted my tail end for her and someone else gets hired on, only there for a month, she gets all my hours but closing hours. The manager let her pretty much make her own schedule. 7 to 3 mon-fri only! I was her assistant.. Do u think I could have done that?! Hell no! And I hear she's going to be the asst... The girl did quit before I did, and I heard cindy called her begging her back and that is how she got her own hours.. I go up to talk to her and she blew me off so fast and was rude [censored] hell with me like she always was so I just walked away. One girl can get her job back but I cant! For doing the same thing! It's not right! I'm a very hard worker. I loved working for ya'll... I loved my job! But your manager at this store has to go! Ya'll are losing a lot of good wroking people because of her! I've seen a lot come and go in the time I worked there and they all quit because of the same reason... She not far with all her employees.. And that's not right... 9 months I worked my [censored] off for her and for her to do me like this is totally wrong and I wan't everyone to know how she runs her business... Very snotty person. Just ask her customers...
no product in store shelves are empty!
When ginger the old manager was employeed there. There was always product on the shelves and friendly enviroment! Now 2 months later I have been in this store at least 2 - 3 times a week and there is no product on the shelves they are empty and it sucks! Not even water! I will stop going to this store and drive 10 miles farther to bolivar at least there is product on their shelves! Just someone with some upper management should go check this store in pleasant hope out! It sucks!
Hello,
My name is loretta myricks. I went to your store located at 25th on grant in gary indiana at about
8:15 this morning. I was shopping for milk alone with a few other items. no milk was on the shelves, but thankfully the milk delivery was in progress when I entered. I finished shopping and let the employee know I was waiting for milk. after waiting for about 5 minutes I asked if they could just sell me a gallon from the crates that were just sitting waiting to be checked in. this brought attitude to the young man and the manager came out to join him. I suggested they inform the delivery man and include the sold gallon in there count as sold. instead of making this smart decision they both found it best to let me leave without purchasing anything... disappointed
When Ginger the old manager was there things may have seemed better on the surface but most of the behind the scenes duties were ignored and caused the store to fall to shambles hints why she is gone... And the store looks like crap but from what I have seen the people that are still there are trying very hard to pick up the pieces she left behind and I for one appreciate their efforts because I for one have worked for dg before and I would say they pay isn't worth the trouble they are dealing with not to mention all the sour attitudes they have to put up with from people who are judging a situation that they don't quite understand that's my opinion
policy and management
I shop at this store daily and Iam 59 years old. The manager Jackie at store #1522 in West Melbourne, Florida got cockey with me when I said to him my opinion on there policy with ids. I happen to forget my Id and bought beer and at 59 and I look old would not let me buy it. I understand the Florida law and I respect it. But, I can't think of one business ever in the whole state of Florida who makes you have Id if you look older then 30. There should be a stipulation if a customer looks 30 or older you don't need Id. That's a lot of years to make sure of no mistake. But even worse when I told the manager how I felt he got cockey with me and said I could ask you to leave like I was doing something bad because of my opinion. The lady before me was in her 40's, she also didn't have her I'd and couldn't get cigarettes. I don't usually complain but I really think this policy needs to be adjusted.
customer service
$30 dg gift card purchased for my son, who is 20. He went to a dg in cape coral, florida & was told no money on it so he left. I called gift card #, lady said wasn't activated when purchased & that she activated it on phone at that time & that it would work. My son went back to same store, they again told him it had no money on it. He said they were rude, acted like they did not know what they were doing & made no attempt to try to figure out what was wrong-just assumed he was lying. I then looked up phone # to that store & called it many times that night & the next day & even today but every time got a voicemail that they are helping other customers. Really? Every time I called? And by the end, i've called that # approximately 20 times. I told my son to try a different dg store in cape coral, he went yesterday & had no problems using it. I am very upset with the embarrassment he faced with his items being rejected twice and the lack of that staff in trying to figure out the issue. It is their job! I want that particular stores actual number so I can speak to the manager-I have never heard of a retail store with an answering service, never mind every time I called. Ridiculous! That particular store needs better employees & training. I also would like a reimbursement for my son to have for the trouble this caused him, especially living 3 states away from home with little money, believing what they told him because they were older, the trouble going back & forth, the calls to the gift card line & the anxiety I have experienced wondering how to fix this when I knew the $30 was on that card. My number is [protected] and I look forward to hearing from someone soon. Thank you
no products available, no matter day or, month you go, in they never have the item you need always out
this store is like 2 blocks from my house, so I was excited when it came, but even on opening of the store, it wasnt stocked, and it has got worse, you can go in there week after week, and they are out. Either manager is not doing job. or employes arent, or both, so we have stoped going there, if you want custormers, you need a stocked store. And when you ask about products, dont say its probably in the back, but cant get to it. If you need stockers, if the price is right, I can get it done. Was a manager for dollar treeback in 2005, kepted my store full, and I only had a certain amount of hours, it all comes down to managment, ty hope you will fill the store.
DG does not hire stockers. they overwork the cashiers and have them do it. and how long has it been since it opened? it can take a couple of weeks for the shelves to fill.

Today I arrived at dollar general in middleburg nc approximately 4:45 to 5 p.m to purchase at u.s.cellular pin card to activate a phone. I was disrespected ang called a [censored] by store manager ! I avoided having interaction with manager do to prior conflict at a previous store in warrenton nc. Current manager or store associate said that I'm the manager of this store I can ban u if I want get out ! This was after transaction was made by former employee and I hadn't receive my change from breaking a hundred dollar bill. I will be filing paperwork with a layer due to the character of this employee that dollar general as a franchise choose to represent your establishment. I will not tolerate disrespect for as I am a customer and also a mother with child not a [censored] as your manager refers to me as. I was wrongfully van from store by manager and I feel that I have been discriminated against.
im complaining on the manager
Its very sad that you all have a guy as a manager that does not know how to talk or treat people, he's always rude very disrespectful and treats everyone that comes in this store real horrible...I use to come to this Dollar General on a regular basis but once you all put him as manger at the Shreveport store #12560 I do not come like talking about it.Tonight I was on that side of town and needed some things before going home and stopped at that location..And as always first thing when you get in the store he is arguing with some ladies/customers...and for him to tell all the customers in the store whats going on was very unprofessional...For him being in a manger position for this long explains alot about your rules and what this store stands for...You all need to take care of this because It's alot going on in the world today as it is..and would hate for him to disrespect someone thats not having a good day or someone that doesn't looks at life as most people and something he says offend anyone..
