Store carts all over the place
Store has been closed for almost 3 weeks because the registers were not working today was the first day back open. You would have thought they would have put stuff up on the shelf’s but no. The store is full of carts store is dirty if you want to find something you have to open the boxes up and look for it yourself you should just go ahead and close the store. Maybe that way we could get a good store in our area. I don’t get paid to open boxes to look for what I am wanting
Fell on ice covered sidewalk
On 12/21/22 I slipped and fell on ice at store#17235, Augusta ME. I went in asked for manager and explained that I had just fell on ice outside. Manager said:" Im aware of it and have already made several reports/complaints about it". I went to check out and the lady in front of me said:" you should call the corporate office". The cashier agreed. The manager said:"Dont do that, that will get ME in trouble". I told the three I had seen someone slip but not fall before and the cashier said:"Im sure" The manager offered NO report or documentation of the incident so I left. I immediately called "corporate" to complain and spoke to:"Raz" who told me there were no supervisors or managers available and promised that a supervisor would call me within an hour. I went to hospital and had my knee and hip checked out as I was in severe pain... To date NO ONE from Dollar General has contacted me what so ever... I will continue to pursue this to the fullest extent... [protected]@yahoo.com [protected]
Property owners and store owners ARE liable for dangerous environments created by negligence. In this particular scenario the store has an obligation to keep the walkway safe and free of ice and snow for the customers. Obviously people DO research topics. And obviously people who have never walked on snow should not presume you have to shovel it once a day. Im sure it is more efficient to clear a walkway for customers than to handle such claims.
No you need not say more. "Negligence" is a derivative of the word "neglect". The store neglected to make the sidewalk safe for customers... Weather is not phenomena, it is well known science... If a bucket of water freezes that is science. Neglecting to remove the unsafe ice from the walkway is NEGLECT...
Ive got it alright. I freely and happily admit I am not a lawyer and certainly dont know the law or actually perceive it fully. Thats why I have lawyers... I dont want to prove you wrong, you do an excellent job of it. I cannot force anything pertaining to law. Nor can you require anything for confirmation of my contention... Who do you think you are? Further more, I couldnt be anything further from a "karen". You dont know me or much less anything about me. You have some how managed to make me feel a little better about walking on snow! Now thats phenomena. Thank You.
I admitted I am not a lawyer, I didnt admit I dont know the law as it pertains to this particular incident (with all the facts known to me and those who matter). And if Im right, so be it... And YOU cannot "require" any conformation of anything, for your benefit or anyone else... I wrote "contention" not contentment.! Perhaps you should reread my reply to your comment. You have me a little puzzled, you keep talking about "having a case", "forcing a case", "stopping people from thinking they have a case themselves" and "(my) case, having serious problems". Why do you presume that a "case" is even in existence? Like you guessing about walking on snow, I think you are someone who was once affiliated with Dollar General somehow or sometime and thats why you offer so much detrimental information and input about peoples negative experiences with them. But then again Im just guessing... When you become a board certified attorney you can feel free to require information of me. Until then you have no right to require ANYTHING of me. As far as a KAREN, Im sure we have totally different understandings of the word as I couldnt be anything further from a "KAREN"... Again you have made me feel much better about walking on snow. Thank YOU
Sir, your absolutely correct, I was confused of your terminology of :"require". (My bad)! However I could care less about changing your mind in this matter, nor am I obligated to do so... If and when I "require" anything of DG I will do so by letter of demand. Now your "pretty sure" a "case" doesnt exist and I am being hyperbolic. I assure you I am in NO WAY being hyperbolic... I never stated a "case" as you put it, existed and I certainly never stated a "case" does not. (your assumptions again) As far as docket numbers go, this matter hasnt got that far and I would NEVER offer YOU such information. There IS however a "complaint number" in existence. I never stated a "lawsuit" (or ANY proceedings) for that matter, I am not asking DG "go beyond their standards (and I dont think clearing walkways for customers is beyond their standards) nor am I trying to "scare them" by mentioning a lawsuit. I at no time did I EVER mentioned a lawsuit. YOU DID... Now that you have confirmed my suspicions of you being affiliated with the low-end retail store bailiwick and reading some of your 557+ comments on here I can understand your derogatory attitude towards customers with negative experiences. Now you try to drag politics into this issue all I can say to that is: FORGET IT... With that being said I will no longer continue to entertain your erroneous and tawdry comments any longer. With all being said I will leave you with some pertinent advice: If you ever visit a retail store in Maine, outfit yourself with a quality pair of snowshoes, your gonna need em... THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED
Sorry, "claim number" not "complaint number"
wow that is a lengthy read. while it is not required about 99% of stores i have visited DO have policies to make sure the walkway in front of the store is safe for customers to traverse. before anyone contends on this i did ask an attorney just out of curiosity and they said it is "expected that a company try their hardest to ensure customer safety inside and outside the store. while it is not required we all have grown up with seeing a safe store trip as including hazardous free walkways to get to and from the store. shoveling snow is not just a store's task, even the public shovels and cleans their sidewalks to not be liable if anyone wants to sue them."
though you might want to check with your local area attorneys or lawyers for if it is the same standards of safety. though it is also up to the store manager staff what they expect in safety.
"claim number" not "complaint number"
I paraphrased what they said but it is basically the same thing. we have grown up to expect to visit a store and be safe. They also stated it depends on local ordinance also for if it IS a law suitable problem. the crux of THIS issue is that their particular store is unsafe and what to do next. Not sue, not bring to court just what to do and if the corporate office will enlighten them on the policy they have for such a event.
I did a quick search on it again and found this
"It is almost universally true that property owners have a duty to exercise reasonable care when it comes to maintaining the safety of areas where the public (and especially customers) can reasonably be expected to be. That duty includes the periodic inspection of the property, and the removal/remediation of snow and ice within a reasonable time, to reduce the risk of falls and injuries. The failure to fulfill this legal duty can amount to negligence...
Reasonableness and the 'Natural Accumulation' Rule
When it comes to snow and ice removal, what is reasonable to expect of a landowner—and what a person using the sidewalk should reasonably expect to encounter—may depend on where the slip and fall accident occurred. In other words, what is reasonable in Minnesota is not the same as what is reasonable in north Alabama.
And in some states, there is what's known as a "natural accumulation" rule, which relieves a property owner of liability in connection with the natural accumulation of snow and ice, in most cases. As long as the property owner didn't interfere with or alter the accumulation, and as long as no abnormal danger exists, it may be difficult to hold the property owner liable in states that follow this rule."
This is what I found, and is confirmed by law practitioners near me. It all depends on the local laws. please stop telling us that we don't know what we are saying. I do my research BEFORE I post if I don't know the full answer. Maybe where you are they are different near you but near me they are liable.
I suggest people DO research the law as I did. Why was the sidewalk shoveled clear to the propane exchange for employees but nowhere else for patron customers? Im sure "frivolous lawsuits" arent the only reason companies clear the sidewalks for the customers. I sincerely hope this never happens to your grandparents so you dont have to be mad at them for shopping at Dollar General.
why were the photos i submitted NOT posted on:" Fell on ice covered sidewalk"
Milk
The milk sold in the Dollar General Stores in my experience is close to expiration or tastes like it had been warmed and chilled again. It cost at least.25 cents more than Walmart. The only reason I still buy it is for convenience considering the alternative is Walmart and is also another 30 miles away. But we always end up pouring it out half way through...
Read full review of Dollar GeneralEmployee lied on me about sexual harassment
Hello,
My name is Amiel Brown, and I am making a complaint of a Dollar General store that I have been lied on about an hour ago it is the Dollar General on Jefferson Ave in Elizabeth NJ. I went inside the store to get a few items and I was telling one of the employees excuse me and she went to her manager and told the Manager I rubbed against her, and I didn't. You can check the cameras and I will be sueing the store because of being lied on about sexual harassment. This is uncalled for and unnecessary to lie on me like this and I did not do anything like that so I will be taken action please email me at [protected]@gmail.com I will not ever be coming back to that store ever again plus their Customer Service is terrible.
Thank You
Amiel Brown
Desired outcome: My outcome to terminate the worker and again I will be Sueing the Dollar General on Jefferson Ave in Elizabeth NJ
Empty shelves, cutting employee hours
I have been into my local DG in Inwood, WV many times over the last 4 months. Been in there 3 times to try and get DG brand toothache medication. It has never been in there in the last 4 months. The shelves are almost empty in the medication areas mainly and others and there seems to be a failure somewhere.
I spoke with that and other DG stores and it seems items are being received by the stores but there are not enough employees scheduled to work to stock the shelves.
I spoke to the one employee in Inwood and according to them their hours have been cut. At noon on a Monday December 19th there were 2 employees working. One was the manager and the second was the cashier.
This is bad practice all around. Not only can you not sell what you don't have on the shelf (which may be in the stock room), You cannot stock the shelves by not scheduling people to stock them.
Desired outcome: I would like to go into the store and see that the items I am shopping for are being stocked.
Slip and fall
Was recently hurt at dollar general slip and fall here in lima ohio on november 20th. I have called corporate to no avail. I sat on hold with customer service waiting to be transferred to risk management for almost an hour... I really like shopping at dollar store. And I would hate to take other avenues for my situation at hand to be addressed, such as a lawyer. But you guys are leaving me no choice... I mean I spend a lot of money in your store. As a matter of fact I was the very first customer when you open the dollar general off of saint johns road here in lima ohio. And a lot of your workers past and present know me by name. Or the butterfinger/snickers customer... And to be frankly honest it kind of hurts my feelings that nobody has reached out, knowing the situation. This is my last attempt reaching out to your corporation. I am in constant, pain hurt my back and knees... I need to talk to someone asap. Or I have to do what I have to do. My email is: [protected]@gmail.com
My complaint has NOT BEEN RESOLVED. IM WAITING TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE
Service Hours
I am a shopper at the store at 380 W GALENA Blvd Unit 2, Aurora, IL. I have gone there on more than 4 occations and they have been closed during what should be operational hours. Today, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, I was going to make my way there and was told they were closed and didn't have a time they are going to open. I don't understand how this store is allowed to be frequently closed.
Desired outcome: Store should not be closed when online hours are listed as open
Customer Service
I was humiliated bullied, discriminated. Your employee was talking about me as soon as I walked in your store. I lost my job and have to watch every penny and never get sale price. I simply point out the sale and had your employee follow me out of your store yelling at me "Have a nice day" Happy Holidays" 😭 I didnt get all my refund and that was my dog food money😭😭 why do you let them get away with that 😭😭
Desired outcome: There is more to this store. Your employee humiliated me in front of 3 or 4 more customers.
Wrongfully terminating and treating employees and customers like crap
I was wrongfully terminated after filing an HR case against my dm and proving my l. p manager (who says he is never wrong) incorrect more than once, trying to get them to put in hand rails for my customers since two fell and busted their heads open one almost dying which they didn't care. Another almost sued bc of the way she was treated by the dm and Rd after I tried to fix the situation and they just basically told me to tell her whatever she wanted to hear to pacify her so she would stop calling. There has been so much crookedness or wrong doings that they were tired of me pointing out and trying to fix that they found a way to fire me. After me almost being electrocuted
Desired outcome: An apology from the ones responsible and my job back with different higher management or a higher management position
The manager & Co manager in Berne,Indiana were both let go after being there over 20 years. It's a small town and everyone knows them and knows how hard they both worked. Alot of people upset. The only thing wrong with this store is it is not large enough we have no Wal-Mart in are town. Also no fresh food! It would be better if someone was there after hours stocking shelves not before. I will not buy a gift card or phone card with cash. I would like to use my card. Also there are alot of Amish and older people that can't do digital coupons.
harrasment
after i was discharged from dollar general i am being harassed by my former boss. She wont stop. Now she has and another worker have attempted to file a injunction on me. the judge turned it down .they have slander my name and brought up my private personal records, I thought those were private? They are falsely accusing me of things that i was investigated on and cleared by humane resources. so im told., also MS Stevens has told me after that i will be arrested if i go on property which i do not have a trespass issued against me. i have asked her to please stop. But now she's going thru a 3rd party to continue .when she suspended me i had no write ups or did she ever speak with me prior about anything. She is causing alot of undue stress,i live in a very small town.i need this to stop.please consider helping me.

Desired outcome: i just need them to stop,im now wanting termination of there jobs..i would not want others to go through this.
No restrooms for paying customers.
Today December 13th I ho into the dollar general to grab some things and after checkout go to use the restroom I cant because both bathrooms are for employees? How do you not have a reatroom for paying customers? On top of that Customers with kids. Kind of sounds like laziness to me. Its not like you get 8 millian people come through your store just to use the bath room and it being in LaVernia Tx you dont have the homeless that use the bathroomeither. I Guess they expect people to go bathroom on the floor or on the side of the building. Who knows.
Desired outcome: Make a restroom at least 1 accessible to guests. Its not that hard, I would get it if you were getting an over abundance of people coming through just to use the restroom stop being stingy and Open at least 1.
Business Size Envelopes
I had purchased business sized envelopes from Dollar General for years.
My last purchase of business sized envelopes yielded envelopes with undersized envelope sealing flaps, envelope sealing flaps that did not seal when moistened, envelopes cut at the top edge opposite to the flap so as to make letter insertion difficult.
I went to Dollar Tree and purchased Mead envelopes for $1.25 for 40 envelopes and found them perfectly useable. No more Dollar General envelopes for me.
Desired outcome: Cease buying the most crappy products available.
False pricing
The prices on the shelves are not the price that ring up at the register. They are higher at the register. Usually a dollar or two more than the shelf stickers. This has been going on for months at most of the Dollar Generals I've shopped. Even stores like Kroger are cheaper than Dollar Generals. I will be making less visits until this deceptive practice has ended.
Desired outcome: That this illegal practice is investigated.
And how long do you think they would be in business if customers had to guess the prices?
Disrespectable employees to the manager.
When being in line to checkout the lady I suppose is a manager because since she been working there the store has done a 360 , but she asked an employee to cover her to use the restroom the the employee was rude and told her hell no, finally the one at register yelled for help noone was around or acted like she wasn't heard, so she locked the door to be able to take a break the other lady would unlock it register lady told her not to do it again her response was she would smack her in her [censored]ing face, so the register one tried calling someone noone would even try to help and when she finally reached someone they blamed it on her it's wrong and that girl held herself together and was still respectable and I don't see how
Store#6559- Store Manager Not addressing check that was voided But cleared bank account
The store manager failed to reach out about a check that was "voided" due to not allowed to pay for a gift card by check. The gift card was NOT kept by customer it was given back along with "voided" check and a received a "receipt" stated "VOIDED TRANSACTION SYSTEM ERROR. As the customer, I am requesting my money back, but the manager seems to refuse to reach out to address this situation. And apparently none of the night-assistant managers cannot do anything about it.
Desired outcome: Money Refunded
Clover valley milk
The milk tastes discounting the past few times I’ve bought it it tastes like amoxicillin or some kind of pill taste. It’s disgusting and did not used to tasted like this. Really makes me wonder what they are putting in it or what they are giving the cows to mass produce the milk because whatever it is is making it’s way into the Milk and should be disclosed on the jug.
Desired outcome: Telling me what I’m tasting in the milk
Not accepting Military ID
Had a purchase of around $80. Ordered a couple packs of cigarettes and when the cashier asked for ID I produced a miliary retiree ID. She looked at it, then said she was required to see a drivers license. Indiana law only requires an ID to purchase cigarettes when there is some doubt to age, then it only requires a state/government issued ID with photo and date of birth. I don't know if this is a company policy, or just the cashier's, but I find it very disrespectful of the years of service myself, and fellow veterans, spent in service to our country. Needless to say that if your company doesn't want the business of military veterans, then we no longer need to do business with you. I will no longer shop at Dollar General and will pass this on to fellow veterans to urge them to also stop their business with DF.
Desired outcome: Better training of cashiers, and a general apology to veterans
Prices & management
I live in Picayune Ms., I shop at 4 of your stores because they are close & I stop at the one I'm going by at the time. I shop the hwy 11 n. picayune, hwy 11 n carriere, hwy 11 n. mcneil & the hwy 43n piccayune store & every time I shop at any of the 4 stores, I can't buy 10 items & not be overcharged every time, it's rediculous, today put the icing on the cake when you buy pre-printed priced items & they overcharge you with the price on itI bought 16 items & 5 were wrong. Who ever the supervisor is for this area "needs to be fired" not talked to or written up, FIRED. The repsonsibility lies on him or her, along with store managers to lazy to do their job. Everyone in the retail business knows that you dont implement price changes till the "NEW TAGS ARE HUNG", it will kill business to change prices in computer & not on shelves, that is STUPID! somebody needs to be held accountable. I have never seen 4 stores that look as bad as these, RaceTrack quick stop gas stations look better. No bread on shelves, store hasn't been zoned & straightened in forever, they are a total wreck & no tags on displays or endcaps, guess you just firgure it out for yourself what the price is. POOR PRICING & MANAGEMENT
Desired outcome: FIX IT, GET A PRICE COORDINATER FOR STORES OR GET TAGS UP WITH RIGHT PRICES & KEEP UP WITH PRICE CHANGES. STRAIGHTEN STORE SHELVES, MERCHANDISE IS JUST CRAMMED IN AN EMPTY SPACE LIKE THEY CANT READ !
digital discount not easy for the elderly
When recently at a store I notice that an elderly person was not treated fairly. She was not helped with this new option. I know this is the new electronically method to get extra discount. Elderly are not able to access computer entry. Kroger helps the elderly by entering the digital discount...they keep the customer. This customer for dollar general ended up walking out without the merchandise. Your loss and so easy to help you missed out on sales.
She said she would not be back. Consider helping the elderly.
Thanks
Desired outcome: Make cashiers enter the digital coupons for the elderly and treat everyone equally to the young that are computer savvy. Thanks
Total by Verizon
I bought this phone on Nov 30 at the dollar store #01050 in Knoxville Tennessee It doesn't work I've tried several times to get it to working I called customer service to see if they could fix it but they couldn't. They told me to return it to the store I bought it from I tried that and they wouldn't take it back. I'm out of money for the phone and the minutes I bought too. I even tried to exchange it for another one
Desired outcome: Please refund I'd appreciate a response Thank you
