I went to a dollar General today in Williamstown Massachusetts. I go there atleast 3x a week and there are two men and two women that work there. The men are actually relatively pleasant. The woman on the other hand are very rude and "try to be" intimidating. I found some pennied out items, along with my new couponing hobby I'm in there all the time! My sister and I were there with my daughter. My sister works at a different dollar general and had just been hired. She was in. No way what so ever looking for pennied our items. One of the females came up to us, saying oh I heard about you. Speaking to my sister. Ask how I knew about the pennnys(everyone knows about them lol) then proceeded to ask how to get the apps and laddy da. When I didn't give her the time of day, she walked away. Got extremely rude. Made me move when I was looking for dog food so she could stock her shelf. Then when we left called my sisters district manager and lied and said she was out shopping for pennies. Mind you alls he has to do is check a receipt and look at the camera to know she's lying, but that's not the point. By far the rudest women I've ever encountered at a dollar general. Williamstown s a very highsclass town, that an employee of that statute really has no business working in if she can't even pretend to be professional. Don't harass your customers ladies and gents, it's a real good way to lose business. And word of my travels fast. Now my sisters way to sweet to report it so I figured I'd take it upon myself.
store manager
I am a former employee who was talked to, yelled at and treated poorly by the store manager. After I quit from being yelled at I continued as a frequent customer. I would shop and interact with employees with kindness and no problems. On Valentine's day I was shopping for my son around 2pm when the store manager Darryl approached me speaking loudly telling me he has had several complaints about me buying cigarettes with a gift card and that is not allowed he then said he had complaints of me reaching over the counter. You can watch cameras of my visits I have never reached over the counter and I have purchased cigarettes 2-3 times with a gift card and was never told by any employees that it wasn't allowed. This was embarrassing because other customers where listening to this and I not only shop there but my husband's entire family and friends love around there so having customers hear him saying that out loud was humiliating and I have never been told you can't purchase cigs with a gift card. He said go lisa I turned around said oh hi. He then said iv been having a lot of complaints on you I said how I haven't worked here in couple months he said I have several complaints about you buying cigs with gift cards I said i didn't know that wasn't allowed. He said it's in your cbl you took when you worked here. I said well no one ever saaaaid anything when i was making purchase other wise I would have paid in differnt way. It was like he didn't like that he didn't get an attitude or rise from me so he kept on n said i get alot complaints of you reaching over the counter I said i have never and you can check cameras he said well I only allowed all of it cause it was you but it needs to stop before it gets to distract manager Stanley and they take action. I walked off customers where stairing at me. This is the bufford dollar general on pageland highway in lancaster south carolina
management
My name is Jessica. I never complain or anything like that because I love staying positive. I live in commerce OKLAHOMA which is a very small town where everyone knows everyone. I was just in the dollar general here in commerce, and I ran inside with my 8 year old son to get hair gel for his hair because today is Dr. Seuss character day and I was walking up towards the line and stopped to put some of the gel in his hair. Mind you I hadn't paid for it yet but was going to. I did this right in front of a worker and she got upset with me about it. I told her I didn't know you weren't allowed to and I closed it. I then proceeded to walk up to check out and the same woman and a manager(also woman) started telling me that they heard I was ban from the store and asked me if I was a shoplifter. I told them they could ask the police if they wanted to and told them I had never shoplifted nor had I ever been in trouble for such a thing. I've never been in trouble at all. They said "well we heard that so will you dump your purse out? " I said "go for it" and my son was holding my small bag.. They told him to open it. Well I didn't think they should have told him anything so I got it from him and dumped it angrily onto the counter. They could have asked me to come into the office or something. Not right there at the counter where customers can see and hear everything and especially not in front of my son. I work in this small town and with what she accused me of, Its very embarrassing. She wasn't professional at all on this matter. I don't appreciate it. I spend lots and lots of money in that store and I won't be going back unless she's gone. I'll drive the extra mile of two to g OK to Walmart if she isn't taken care of. I've had other incidents with the same girl and this time I'm complaining. It's the younger day shift manager. You'll see her on the tapes. Ive never done anything wrong and I definitely didn't deserve to be humiliated and treated like that in front of customers and my own son.
information to get items refunded
February 24, 2018
Shopped at the Dollar General in Bolivia, NC on the date stated above last week. Noticed my items were not marked 50% off. Did not leave the store, let others customers ahead of me to take the time to check receipt. Found out items were not 50% off, they were just extra items that were put with the 50% items placed outside.
My question/complaint is that I paid cash. No card of any form. Cash. And I didn't leave the store. I had to supply my address and phone number for refund of items that were not marked. I still had the receipt, not even purchased within 10 minutes of getting refunded. I could see if card was being used, but cash purchases.
This was a bit much. Is this the normal practice of refunds when paying by cash and with a receipt.
Sincerely, B Wade
It’s for over $10 at my store. But yeah it’s normal. Cashiers and MODs and managers have no control over that.
digital coupons and system errors
Its always been like this that makes me think that this stores ad was fake. I purchased clorox deal of the week "instant saving $5 off if you spent $15 also the $15 off of $50 pre tax but none of this deal offer was deducted from my total also digital coupons are not deducting end up paying beyond what costumer like me was expecting to pay. Very disappointing.. I had to go back to the store just to point out those coupons that doesnt deduct got home and realized another coupon doesnt deduct this is ridiculous..!
digital coupons
I've been to my local dollar general Plently of times to use my digital coupons, because as a mom of 3 every dollar counts. This is about the 5th time they do not work. I will show the cashier my coupon on my phone that clearly states that it allows me to get an additional 2 dollars off the already on sale tide or downy. Instead of trying to fix it by any means they say sorry it's not showing up. That is the only reason I go to dollar general. I always do more shopping while I'm there but if I can't get the discount that it says I can then there is no point in returning. If I have a coupon from dollar general then they should go by that and not what their computer says. So I did not pay for what I wanted today and I may not be back to the store.
manager
My son was fired from a dollar General in Brooker, Fla by the manager that said he drank a soda without paying for it, but would not show him the tape she saw this on.But just a few weeks earlier she came in and asked another employee if he ever paid for the soda he had drank the day before, and he said no, so she allowed him to go pay for the soda.Don't get me wrong stealing is wrong, and my boys were raised to never take anything that is not yours.I will never believe my son would steal a $1.00 soda and put his job on the line, not to mention his reputation. We live in a very small town and everyone knows everyone. And everyone is human and some times people get busy and forget things and just maybe he got a soda, drank it, and just forgot to pay for it and if that was the case WHY wasn't he reminded about it, and given the chance to pay for it just like the other employee was.My other son worked at our one and only other store for almost 5 years, and my boys are very well liked by everyone here in our little town, there's not a time that I have went to town and people not brag on how polite, kind, honest, and hard working my boys are.No one is happy at all by my son getting fired. As a upset mother I went and asked this manager why my son wasn't given the same chance as the other employee, and all she would say was you need to speak to Human resource.I went to town this morning and the first thing i heard was how unfair it was for my son to be fired, and then the next thing was how I had went in and confronted the manager. How is it alright for this manager to be talking about mine and my son's business to other people? But that's ok because at 9:00 am I will be calling lawyers because this manager has no business discussing anything to anyone about my son or me with other people.I do believe it's called slander. You can ask any of the other managers that worked with my son that he was one of the hardest worker's in that store.Even the district mangers know of his work habits. And they will be the next one that is contacted.
harassment
My fiance just currently got fired and was harassed during the process leading to termination. She has been doing her best while they're extremely understaffed.going from totes to register. The manager has been seen yelling at her and disrespecting her "infront" of customers where even the customers have apologized for the managers behavior..she has not missed a day and has always came in when they needed the help. She has been harassed for doing something they think was her fault and even checked the tapes to see she didn't do what she was accused of doing..also I know the store policy here anyways for when closing is everyone leaves parking lot together..one evening she did as she was supposed to do and the guy she was working with drove through the dollar General yard and broke a growing tree..she was harassed by the manager that night via Facebook stating she may have to help pay for the tree since it was her fault he ran off the road because he didn't have enough time to "clear his windows" when he followed her through the stop sign..she just came home crying and stating she was harassed by the manager for only getting so much done an the couple hours she had worked and at that point she was fired..i went over to the store to asked the manager for the number and name to her boss because I couldn't find the number online..she then began to scream at me and became hostile in the parking lot over the question..please address this situation soon because we will no longer be going to dollar General here due to the hostility of the manager and how much disrespect we have been given.. Thank you for your time
unethical behaviour of a manager told
I worked for 30 yrs. in customer service for the government and he looked at me and said.So you worked for the goverment and you are trying to tell me something and stormed back into store. Do not understand what that comment really implied. He is not at all nice or willing to settle a problem. I will not shop at Dollar General anymore and will ask family and friends to not shop there.
I have a complaint against a manager
I was getting in line to check out, one line had about 10 people, the other had one. So I did what ANY customer soul do, I got in the short line. I was then reprimanded by the manager, and told to go to the end of the other line, and given a disgusted look. She would have a customer go to that check out one at a time out of the other line. I could have understood if someone would have given the opportunity to do so. Instead it made me feel so bad, I will never go back to the dollar general.
aggressive and threatening representative
On 2/27/18 my 5 year old needed gloves at 8am before school because it had snowed. Dollar General was the only store open so we went there. On way she tells me she lost her backing to her earring because now it's stabbing her in the neck (I guess the backing covered the end of the earring, keeping it from doing that). So when we went inside I asked the woman behind the counter where the gloves edge and was going to look for earring also. Plan was buy the earrings and take the backing so she wouldn't lose her earrings. We went down the isle and there were only 1 pair of little boy gloves and nothing else. Right next to them though was the earrings. So I grabbed a $3 pack and took off the backing to check if it would work. At that moment I noticed her backing was still on, moved down so it just needed to be readjusted. So I put the backing back on the earrings for sale so it wouldn't be missing and hung them back up. At that point I went back to the front to see if anywhere else in store edge. My daughter broke free at the toy aisle and went to go see them while I asked. Once again I asked about gloves and was more specific ... while she responded (mind you I'm at the front register where people are witnessing what's about to happen), a tall, blonde young kid (basically) came straight up to me with a stern rude look and said, "Il take your daughters earrings now!" I finished what I had been saying to the cashier and asked "what?" And smiled. He said it again and I thought he was kidding ... and I was very confused. He then states to me right there in the front of the store at the register that he saw me take the earrings and I need to give them back. I was stunned. I've never been in trouble. I'm a 43 yr old single mom to a 16 yr old autistic son and a 5 yr old toddler. I have my degree, I wasn't a mess in how I dressed and my daughter was clean and dressed up as always. I told him I didn't steal anything. He then treated me like I was 10 (which I could be his mom)and in a stern, condescending manner asked if I wanted him to call the police on me and have me arrested for stealing, raising his voice as he said it. I was horrified and shocked. I through my purse down on the register saying he could look through it then raised my arms and said "here" to insinuate he can check my pockets. I was getting angry because he then said "well I guess we'll see when I find your daughter and look. " and took off for the glove isle. I yelled at him that my daughter has had her ears pierced since she was one and that dollar general doesn't sell diamond earrings. I then rushed to see where my daughter was because I didn't want her alone w him. I found her still in the toy isle so I grabbed her and went looking for him since he had gone right past her. I found him in front of the earrings looking, almost searching for something out of place. I walked up to show him the diamond earrings and I explained what the situation was with with the backing. He then asked me which earrings I had grabbed as if to keep searching. So I once again let him know it was the silver hoops that are hooked up and I showed him the backings and what was done earlier. Everything was still in its place. I then said forget it because he was inspecting the $3 earrings. I was angry at this point. Humiliated, embarrassed, shocked, and beside myself. I then, once again went back for the only pair of gloves they had and saw the three pack was missing one. I commented on that l, then stated that I'm sure the person who stole it wasn't harassed like I was and that I would be speaking to someone about it. I bought the gloves - with one missing. Didn't even get a discount or an apology for completely doing this right in front of the register and people with a scene. Honestly, I'm still upset almost 4 hours later. I did absolutely nothing wrong. And even if it seemed that I pocketed something, he could of handled the situation a million times better and had some grace instead of just terrorizing me in an already small town. I will hear this go around for weeks now, with everyone's spin on it. I would like something done about this. And not just "well make sure he's spoken to" because it obviously showed in how he comes at people.
manager
She is rude, unfriendly. Refuses to assist customers. Makes customers wait in line while stocking. Spoke down to me on numerous occasions. Went in today for specific reason. I was rudely told, " I don't have time to find you a box of cheesenips. " indicated I would go to another store. Her response was " Do whatever you need to do. " She is ugly to her employees in front of customers. I will not continue to use this store even if convenient. I will find a customer friendly store. Sh needs to lose her job.
manager violating dollar general's ethics policy
The manager at the Windom store is violating the Ethics Policy by having a relationship with a soda vendor who is married. According to Dollar General policy this should be unacceptable. I believe her name is Jen. When he shows up to deliver the soda she blatantly flirts with him ignoring customers. I have even witnessed her making out with him before he leaves.

employee/customer service
A few months ago I went into my local dollar general (Bear Lake, MI) to buy a pregnancy test. I am 20 years old and married, but none of that should have mattered. The girl at the checkout took one look at me and said rather bluntly "Well, I hope YOU'RE not pregnant." I was shocked and taken aback. This girl was new to the store, and I'd never had any other employee there treat me rudely. What this girl didn't know? I had had two miscarriages and we were trying to get pregnant. This was a very touchy subject to me, and even buying another pregnancy test was something that was emotionally difficult for me. But this girl took one look at me, and just assumed and judged without even knowing the situation. It was extremely hurtful.
I replied that I was married and she said, "Ohhhh, okay. You look young."
That doesn't matter. She should not be allowed to treat customers like that or make them feel hurt.
It was very rude and unprofessional.
I tried to let it go, but ever since that incident, I try to shop at other stores. I don't want to see that girl again, and I'm embarrassed to even go in the store.
I shouldn't have to worry about going into my local dollar general because of someone who works there. I just want to let someone high up know what is going on.
Thank you.
unethical behavior of employee
On 2/22/2018 in the evening hours I went into the store to pick up some items and noticed there was a very long line and only one person at the register working, I continued to gather the items I needed and get in line to checkout when the lady working the register yelled twice for the other employee (Tracy, that is the name she said)for back up assistance. While standing in line "Tracy" made the remark that she had been called in on already that week, she (Tracy) was very loud about her situation in front of the costumers waiting to check out. While the other lady was checking me out I overheard the costumer beside me say she didn't have her ID to purchase cigarettes to Tracy, Tracy told her to "flash a card" so it looks like she checked her ID and as long as it looks like she is checking her ID then she could sell them to her. I feel as that is going against the law and every person should be ID for the purchase of tobacco. I was told by the cashier that Tracy was the new Assistant Manager for that store. Tracy was very unprofessional and rude to costumers. The Store Number is 15857
rude disrespectful from manager
at dg tonight and the manager was cashier. the store was a mess. there was no eye contact no greeting no thank you have a nice night nothing. very rude felt like I should of spent my money else where like I'm not wanted there. cashier really had nothing to say and in a little rush. cashier didn't even have a smile. I gave the up most respect and tried to talk but still no eye contact or nothing. I made eye contact as well as try to conversat and had a smile. I'm the customer and I had to say have a good day.
unprofessional management staff
I am filing a complaint on Jen Volkenant who is the manager at the store in Windom Minnesota. She is engaging in a sexual relationship with your Pepsi Vendor. I spoke with Autumn Hunter who is the assistant store manager in Windom and she informed me she was aware of the situation going on in the store but she did not report it. She also confirmed that in Dollar General Handbook it is stated that having a relationship with a vendor is unprofessional. Beings the title the Jen Volkenant and Autumn Hunter as managers I demand that something be done. If nothing gets done the reputation of that store will quickly diminish. Policy is policy and if your managers are unable to follow policy, how did they become mangers in the first place? I request you investigate this complaint and please reach out to me as I have proof this is occurring. Jen Volkenant and the Pepsi Vendor at the store in Windom are in a sexual relationship and I believe that should consult as a conflict of interest with the relationship your store has with Pepsi as its vendor.
Wrong names (parties) involved in complaint. This is misinformation.

Hiring process
I put in an application here awhile ago and was told to by the manager. I was given an interview and was told that he hadn't hired anyone yet. But I went there and saw two new white individuals working there. I haven't seen a black person working there in forever and it's highly unfair. He led me to believe I would be employed yet I wasn't. It was the dollar general in Mcbee Sc. The manager there is Keith.

This is a very nice store but has steadily gone downhill since they lost a really good manager. Saturday, they seemed to be having problems with their registers/card machines. I waited patiently until it was my turn then walked over to the register that has just completed what seemed to be a difficult transaction. The other register was still waiting for something to update. I was told I would have to go to the other register because she had to clock out for lunch. When I got to the other register, she was there complaining nonstop to the other clerk, who told her to just breathe. The customer was still in line, waiting for the register or card machine to update. I had two items and planned to pay cash. I left my things on the counter and walked out. There is always a long wait at this store and usually drama. I could go on and on, but you may have already heard it. One bizarre instance was they had no shopping carts one Saturday. How is that even possible?
the dollar general store located in peru, ny
I am disgusted with the appearance of the Dollar General located in Peru, NY. First of all, the grounds themselves are not attended to and are littered with trash and cigarette butts. Secondly, the interior of the store is a mess. There are items just throw onto shelves particularly in the clearance area. It's dark, dirty and dingy. I have taken a couple of photos to illustrate my complaint.
I have advocated for electric doors for the store but that has fallen on corporate deaf ears. There are numerous other Dollar Generals in our area with electric doors (incredibly important for physically disabled people). Why do I feel, and I'm not alone in what I say, that the DG in Peru is a "poor relation" in comparison to other area Dollar Generals which I find myself frequently rather than go into my Peru store which is chaotic and messy. I strongly feel a DG rep needs to visit this store and get the manager to be more accountant in keeping the store clean, neat, and inviting. In addition, the Peru store is in need of electric doors. How about Dollar General?!
I would invite a response from you. Thank you
