I was hired for a job on june 8th then fired before I even started
Hi my name is Lisa Dulac I went for a interview on June 8th was hired for a part time job at 1237 W. main st Monongahela Pa 15063.I completed the paperwork on line on the 9th. Terri Pelczar and I discussed on June 16th that I come in on Thursday June 22nd to do my CBL's she said she wouldn't be there and she was going to have another staff member set up the program for me. I came in at the time we discussed at 4pm and the girl that was working called her to see what she needed to do. When they spoke Terri told her she terminated me because she called me several times on Tuesday June 20th to come in to complete my CBL's and I never received one phone call. I asked her what number she called I checked my phone records when I got home. She never called. Can I get this termination off my public records because I still don't understand why or how all this happened. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my ordeal.

I went to Dollar General 00036 in Albany, Georgia on 07/19/2017 at 4:53. I wanted to return a pair of sandals and a shirt. I had my receipt. The manager on duty scanned my receipt and I saw that my shirt rung up for 3.75. I told her I paid 6.25 for the shirt. She told me she had to give me what it rung for. I informed her that I was not taking that amount and I have a receipt that clearly has what I paid for it. She told me I don't have anything to do with that. It is corporate. I informed her that I have brought back something before and another manager did an override for the price I paid. She says, who did that. She was not suppose to do that. This woman does not need to work with customers. She was very rude to me. I apologized to the customer behind me for this inconvenience to them because she did not care. I asked for the 1-800 number and she told me it was in the office and I can go online to get it. Where did you all get her from? Who does that? I have worked with the public for over 25 years and this is no way to address a customer. She did the refund again and I told her that she was giving me too much money back. I told her I would not take anything that does not belong to me. She got agitated with me. She rung it up again. I pulled out my debit card to put it back on the card. She stated I will just give you the money. She wanted to get rid of me, but I was not the one at fault. She was. I gave her my name twice and she still spelled it wrong and put the wrong last name. She did not give me her full attention because my name is Konya Anderson and not Kenya Walker. I will never go into #00036 again. There are other Dollar General stores that I can go to. This really needs to be address. I have never agreed with the customer is always right, but in this case what is the receipt for if I cannot get what I paid. The receipt has [protected]:53:[protected] at the bottom
In this case, I agree with you. It is easily overridden to what you paid for it. She was an idiot.
no customer service
I went to one of the local stores today since I live about 4 blocks from the store. I find it convenient for making small purchases like milk, eggs, etc... Today, however, was a whole different story. I have been in retail, restaurant, and property management for the last 23 years and if one of my employees treated a customer like this, they would be standing in the unemployment line.
I went in to purchase a couple of things and stood in line like I usually do. This seems to be a regular practice of only having one cashier on duty. I placed my merchandise on the belt and waited patiently. I noticed the employee was not the friendliest (he never is) and seemed to be in a hurry. When it was finally my time, he saw the $20 bill in my hand and said, "Oh I don't think I can check you out. I don't think I have enough fives in the drawer. Darius. Can you check him out? I don't think I have enough fives in my drawer." At this point I said "I'll just take my things over there." Mind you, I said this very quietly--not yelling or raising my voice--but sarcastically enough for him to know I was not happy. He made a comment to the fact that I went to another cashier to which I turned and politely said, "I was being sarcastic." He obviously didn't pick up on it the first time.
As Darius was checking me out, I simply asked what his manager's name was. He told me her name was Karen so I asked when she was usually there. At this point, the other cashier, (who asked me to move) Told the cashier to kick me out of the store for being rude. Last I checked, I had that right although I was NOT being rude. Do I not have the right to ask for a manager's name? I asked him why he was kicking me out to which he replied that i was "sarcastic." Well, obviously he would not have known that had I not pointed that out to him. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was gone for the day.
I left the store with merchandise in hand since Darius had already rang me up and sat in my car as I called corporate office to lodge a complaint. During that time, Darius came out of the store to "count the cars" in the lot. It was a poor attempt to see if I was still out there and if I was calling someone.
Unfortunately, this is the only employee that I have ever had trouble with. He always seems unapproachable while everyone else will smile and make small talk with me. He just complains about how hard his day is.
I would like to have a call back from the district manager but I am not holding my breath after reading the other complaints on here. As a multi-site manager myself, I would want to look into this and resolve the issue.
re: digital coupons
Visited my local DG in Trion, Ga today and was not pleased. All advertised merchandise in the weekly paper was not advertised on the floor. When I asked the store manager why there were no discount prices marked on the merchandise she claimed there was no sale on anything. Then ask about the advertisement in the paper and she told me that the sell was not until the 20th when it clearly advertises it to begin on the 16th and she threw a box down in the floor. I put this stuff that I had already gathered back on the self and then left the store I will not be visiting this store again. I do understand the digital coupons may be aggravating for the employees but if that's what you are offering your employees need to understand that it is not the consumer's fault.

This is the second time I'm making a complaint about the staff at the Dollar General in Marshfield Missouri. The staff is not willing to help you find anything your looking for and the worst one is the assistant manager she is very rude and disrespectful. I just needed help finding a certain laundry detergent and she acted like I was asking her to kill someone. She didn't want to seem to help anyone in the store or do anything but mess her phone. If she continues to do this I will take my business elsewhere.
I agree with you. These people in the stores want to get paid, but they do not want to help customers.
unprofessional behavior from store manager
I've been a regular customer at the Dollar General on 180 Church Street in Westernport, MD, since moving to the area several years ago. However, due to the consistently rude and unprofessional behavior from the store's manager, Peggy, I will now be taking my business elsewhere. I'm not usually one to file complaints, but when I called the store today (7/18/2017) and was treated with a very unprofessional and snide response, that was the last straw.
A family member of mine is a former employee of the store, and Peggy apparently can't separate her personal feelings from her conduct while serving customers. Shortly after this family member's employment, she became unaccommodating to myself and my brother while we were shopping. It's progressed to the point where she is just downright rude to us. I can understand someone having a bad day, but this goes beyond that.
If Peggy can't manage to treat all of her customers decently, regardless of how she might feel about someone they're related to, then perhaps she is not suited for her position.
manager changes schedule last minute
My daughter works at the dollar general on fuqua in Houston Texas. The manager never makes the schedules in time and always calls last minute to make changes to the schedule. I need corporate feed back on why the managers can do what they want when they want to.
I think this matter should be investigated. My daughter requested time off and it was approved by a key holder but then the manager decided that she was going to change the schedule.
dollar general located at 2916 w 5th north street summerville sc 29483- always charging you more then the price shown on shelf!
July 7, 2017 @ 17:21:[protected] / Stopped in to buy a 2 liter soda and a cigarette lighter. Had every lighter I looked at marked wrong that I had the cashier price check. Got 1 lighter marked $1. It wasn't $1 -$1.25/cashier and two management staff all looked at me is discuss when I pointed that out in front of everyone. Cashier made a nasty comment and I walked out!
discrimination at dollar general
At the Dos Palos store, I was call in for a interview.
Not only did I the experience but I got the interview package the manager use two days before my interview, so I knew all the answers.
I was thinking I had the job for sure because I live by the store, support a family, had alot of experience and knew the answer to the question I was going to be ask.
To my surprise I didn't get the job.
Why ?
Because I weigh 300 lbs the manager think I am lazy.
But fast forward two months later and they been threw alot of worker
I been to slot of interview and if a guy is interviewing me I get discriminated against and if a women interviewing me well at least I know I have a chance because of how they talk more and ask more about me to get to know me
employees

Check out her Facebook page latonyarene Voss where she does all her dirty work and it just not nice...
overall stock problems empty shelves
I visited the Dollar General store in Troy N.C. Every time I go in there to shop the store is a wreck you cant find anything you looking for the store is a wreck most of the time there is one person at the register shelves are empty, the one in Biscoe is in better shape but could use some help. How are you going to sell anything when it is sitting on the cart insteadof on the shelf? You need to put more help in there to get it straightened up and look more presentable
customer service.
I Went to the Dollar General Store in St.paul Neb on July 12, At 8:30 A.M. The cashier was rude i said hi she didn't respond. I commented on her calender day display how handy it was no respond. She never said one word to me. My impression was she didn't want to be there. I don't expect the cashier to bow down to me. A little Courteous would be nice. If it wouldn't be for us customers there would be no job and store just saying. Thank You Gary.

Dollar general store in Perry Ok needs better people running it. The store is constantly in a mess and I and others customer complain how slow they are and bad it looks. They smoke outside when there are a lot of customers in store. They don't have leadership in the store. Store manager is in back when they need help. Employees don't look happy. Something needs to be done.
manager at talladega store on east st n
This is a copy of the letter emailed to Marlene White District Manager, Alabama
On 7/16/2017 approximately 8:30 I purchased a few items from my local Dollar General in Ragland, Alabama. I frequent this store regularly so the staff and I have an on-going relationship. They are always friendly, polite, helpful and a pleasure to do business with. The same day at approximately 11:30 I entered the Dollar General on East St N, Talladega, AL to purchase forgotten items that morning. I get a Coke from the cooler, begin shopping and realize I have no cash for my purchase. I place the Coke back in the cooler and proceed to exit the store when I am aggressively accosted by the store manager, a thin elderly woman with long blonde hair. She demands “Where is the Coke you had?”. I politely tell her I had returned to cooler. She then demands to search my purse. Caught completely off guard, intimidated and having nothing to hide I open my purse so she can see. She demands I open all three compartments, which I do. She then tells me to pull up my shirt so she can check my pockets. Again, trying to comply I lift my shirt and show her that nothing is in my pockets. I again politely say Ma’am I put the Coke back in the cooler. She then states “I have your tag number do not ever come in this store again”. I am mortified and highly upset. I get in my car and while texting a friend about the situation I overhear the manager on the phone talking about me. She is standing directly in front of my car telling someone how I was now just sitting in my car. I politely say Ma’am I will wait on whoever you are calling, no problem. I wanted to clear my name and understandably highly upset. She states that is what she wants me to do. I was unclear whom was on the phone but assumed it was the police. I waited for ten minutes while she stood in front of my car glowering at me. She walked away for maybe a minute or two but told a gentleman employee I was a thief and he needed to stand in her place. These few minutes allowed me time to process the events and realize regardless of who she was talking to she had no right to detain me and how ridiculous this situation was. Since the police never arrived I proceeded to drive off. She began another phone conversation and walked behind my car as I exited the parking lot. I next stopped at my Dollar General in Ragland to find out what the company’s procedures were and the manager’s opinion on how the situation was handled. I am told there is a strict policy of never pursuing anyone outside of store, manager should not have searched my purse much less asked me to lift my shirt. Tamika, the Ragland manager said if shoplifting is suspected the manager is to call the police and review the store video surveillance. She gave me the district manager Marlene White’s name and phone number and told me to not only call her but to also call Talladega police and report. I was so upset when the incident occurred my good judgement momentarily left. I should have called the police myself and demanded tapes be reviewed immediately. However, I am 51 years old woman who has never been so aggressively pursued, spoken to in that manner or accused of stealing anything. In hindsight I realize even if I overlooked how this manager had treated me once she found nothing on my person she should have immediately said “Thank you ma’am for complying and have a good day”. This would have defused the entire event and I would have thought nothing about it. However, everything about this incident was uncalled for, rude and totally inappropriate not to mention poor customer’s relations. If not for my experiences in the Ragland store I would never shop Dollar General again and express my displeasure loudly with any audience I could get. Instead, I am now demanding a review of the surveillance tapes to prove my innocence, the manager either fired or demoted, the Talladega police called clearing my name and an apology from Dollar General upper management. No one should ever experience the intimidation, humiliation, false accusations and embarrassment that I did today in Talladega. I will expect a call from the district manager, Marlene White, once this situation is rectified.
Thank you for your prompt and through attention to this matter.
staff behavior
As local residents of Oceans Springs who live close to the 2426 Government St. store, my husband and I frequent it often sometimes several times a week for groceries, household items etc. We have seen multiple times, employees and managers go outside to the front of the building to take their breaks. Everyone deserves a break and that is not the issue. However, the issue is that they do so in the front of the store very close to the entrance. While they are on these breaks they smoke cigarettes and sit down either in the chairs for sale or we have even seen one employee withog dark hair open the ice chest that contains the bagged ice and sit on the ledge to get the cool from inside the freezer while smoking cigarettes. Today, the employee we saw walked outside and sat in the plastic adirondack style chairs stacked for sale out front by the entrance and lit her cigarette and made a call on her cell while patrons parked and walked by her to enter and exit the store. There was another employee inside working behind he counter. As I stated earlier, everyone deserves a break, but maybe that break should be taken where customers can't see the employee or have to smell their cigarettes. Pictures from today attached. I do not have pics of the ice chest incident but we have both seen it separately and on more than one occasion. I value my job and in no way want anyone terminated for this issue., just clean it up a little and if they don't have a place out back or on the side to break, please give them one. Sincerely, frequent customer, Jennifer K. Ocean Springs MS.
service
Most of the cashiers are rude. They are NOT friendly & makes me want to leave but here in fairfax SC, I don't have a choice. During the busiest time of day they have 1 cashier n maybe another will come up n help (open another register). It's extremely hard to shop due to being blocked from the shelves. The shelves are NEVERY EVER STOCKED. Cold items go bad because they sit our all day long
no air conditioning in two local stores when temps outside were high 90s.
I was in your store on Airline Blvd. in Portsmouth, VA Friday, July 14 and also visited the one on George Washington Highway last Saturday July 8. Neither store had any air conditioning. It was so hot when you walked in the door it felt like the heat was on. The poor ladies working were sweating. It was horrible. With temps in this area between 93 - 97 all week with heat factors between 105 - 112, how can you expect the employees, much less customers to withstand those temps? It is absurd to put your employees in such dangerous and unsafe circumstances to have to work in that heat and how do you expect customers to stand it? I had a large shopping list from your sales ad but I grabbed one item, paid and left. It was just too hot to stay in the store. I hope you are compensating your employees for having to endure that with unlimited drinks at least.
The health department surely won't let your stores stay open with no air if they know about this. I recall going to the Airline Blvd. store last summer and it was very hot in that store then too. Seems like it would be the landlord's responsibility but something needs to be done. I won't be going back during the hot summer months for sure. . Please look into this immediately.
customer service
I am a very frequent shopper who visits many of your locations and spend alot of money. TONIGHT the service I received was very unsatisfying .I was only allowed to use one legit coupon when I needed just two items. If your company accepts coupons, why can't I never use them at your stores. I love shopping at your stores but it's not good when a customer cannot receive your advertised savings. Why advertise sales and digital coupons if we can't use them. Talking bout others commit frauds. This is false advertisement. So tell me how can your company fix this problem? Ms. BRENT
I'm sooooo tired of couponers complaining. It's getting out of hand. They want you to bend over backwards and waste valuable time to kiss their backsides. Worst invention ever!
employee
Every time I come to visit this store, the employee named Jordan is always so rude. You walk up to the check out line, and he never says "how are you" or "did you find everything okay?" I work in customer service, and I just find this very rude. He always rolls his eyes, and it seems like we are a bother to him. He never smiles, nor says thanks and have a good day when leaving. He seems annoyed every time I am checked out by him. It's making me not want to ever come into this store anymore because it is uncalled for.
