too many seller fees, over charge fees
Alert! New fees on shipping charges (Ebay has gone mad) I was a seller on ebay, after making a few sales I found out I was not making money I was losing money the only people that are making the money is ebay, sellers do your math after all the fees and charges, what are you really making? Not to mention why do you thing it takes so long for you to get paid after you make a sale i'll tell you why they hold on to your money and make more money on intrest, when they get paid right away. Paypal is owned by ebay so why do we have to wait for our money and why do we have to pay to paypal a percentage everytime we make a sale.
Join me in boycotting ebay!

greed
I am fed up with Ebay and PayPal not supporting their sellers, and where would they be without us? In the last few years Ebay has changed their rules and now takes money from all angles...even a tax from the shipping that the seller charges the buyers to recieve their items! What business do they have to take part of the shipping...this is none of their business and should keep their greedy fingers out! The reason, they say, they do this is because sellers would charge a ridiculous amount of shipping to a buyer, but if the buyer is willing to pay it, it is none of ebay's business...surely the buyers are smart enough to make their own decisions on weather to buy the item or not! Ebay instructed me to charge more for the item to cover the shipping charge that they take...WHAT? So now everyone looses except Ebay.
Ebay also has a judging form that buyers fill out about sellers, and if they are not 100% happy about everything or are just having a bad day, the seller gets a bad rap. Ebay gives advice on how to get your grade up...Sell the item cheaper(how can we, when we have to cover the postage taxes they take), charge less for shipping, ( how can we...we have to charge more now, because ebay charges shipping taxes), offer paypal for payment, ( how can we, when paypal charges the buyer a certain % of the cost of the item so that they get their cut for the convenience of the buyer, because the buyer is not stupid enouth to pay it), and ship within a certain amount of days. If you do all of this, Ebay, Paypal and the buyer will be happy and you might get a good grade...If the buyer even bothers to give you feedback! (I only get feedback from about 50% of my buyers). By this time, you have lost your butt in the item, and you would be better off giving it to a good cause in your area. I have sold over 1022 items and have 100% feedback, but ebay gives me a below normal grade. and if I would continue to selll thru them, as of June, they will hold my payments from the buyers for 21 days until the buyer is totally satisfied! Buyers work so hard, taking pictures of the item, describing them accuratlely, packaging them well, and then going to the post office 4 times a week, so the buyer will recieve them in a timely manner. It use to be fun, but ebay has made it a full time job! I have even sold items that has come up in a negative monetary value for me, because of all of the charges...the buyer is getting a great deal, but the seller is being robbed! Before I knew that ebay was taking a tax off of the postage that I charge the buyer, I was even sending some of the postage back to the buyer, because I accidently charged them too much...Ha, What a joke. I am honest and the Ebay and Paypal is a scam. Oh Paypal...let's talk about that...I went thru hoops for a buyer in France to repackage his item, to cut down on his postage three times, I repackaged and ended up making a box small enough to make his postage where he thought it was cheap enough...He ended up saying he did not get it, and filed a greivance against me...even tho I had the reciept of mailing the item, and told my story, PayPal took his side, and actually went into my Paypal account and took out the amount of the item that was paid to me! I am not usually an angry person, and try to look to the good of everything, but there is no more good about ebay or paypal...I QUIT...I hope this note helps you also make a decision. I will sell on other sites. Thanks for reading and Good Luck!

I have the same issue. Today, after being with EBay for 12 years, they have put my money on hold for 21 days because 5 buyers rated my selling fees too high. Think about this: The buyer sees the shipping cost, agrees to pay it, pays for the shipping, posts positive feedback, and then rates me low. EBay then decides that this is merit for them to hold my money, with their fees removed, and making interest. The customer service rep, ( who barely spoke English, ) told me this was a punishment for the high shipping costs. I am a one man show and must pay the UPS rates from a local UPS store. The EBay rep actually told me to lower prices and lose money to improve my rating.
unfair to sellers
I sold an item on ebay in September of 2010. Nearly 3 months latter, Dec 4, 2010 customer complained of defect. I inform customer that item is still under factory warranty and I agreed to issue refund upon return of item or have factory repair item, his choice. Customer claims to have mailed item to address in Beverly Hills. I have never had an address in...
Read full review of eBayremoval of listings
Last week I received notification from Ebay that my listings had been removed. The reason given. ? A complaint from OFCOM in the UK. The apparant reason given by OFCOM was "encouraging illegal activity". ! I was only selling 'mobile phone signal boosters' of which there are hundreds on Ebay. Anyway, as OFCOM have no jurisdiction over another countries affairs, in this case Ireland, I replied to Ebay in disgust and pointed out the error and also wrote to OFCOM asking why they had interfered in the listings of a seller outside the UK. I received a very bland reply from Ebay in which they stated the only way my listings could be relisted was by OFCOM asking Ebay to do so. ! I wrote back to Ebay again pointing out their errors and asked for the listings to be re instated, but again they refused. I then searched the OFCOM web site and found an email address and wrote again expressing my disgust and asking them to revoke their complaint to Ebay. As of this moment I have not heard from OFCOM at all, and Ebay are totally disinterested in my problem.
This situation is tantamount to someone in say the USA, complaining to a regulatory authority in the US that they object to a listing from a German national, and the regulatory authority in the USA asking for Ebay to remove the German listing. ! OFCOM have no jurisdiction over a seller from Ireland or any other country, other than the UK. In any event how can a 'mobile phone signal booster' actually encourage people to engage in an "illegal activity". ? This situation is only the latest in a string of problems with Ebay and PayPal. The latest was in regard to 'feedback' which was nasty and unwarranted from a couple of buyers but although Ebay agreed with my complaint about the feedback they refused point blank to change anything. The way Ebay, amd PayPal deal with complaints, and fail to understand the problems and send back such casual replies is annoying and very frustrating. I think a move to a different buy and sell web site is long overdue.

I am very unhappy with the high fees and MORE importantly NO SELLER SUPPORT EBAY! The micro-managing on the part of Ebay staff is ridiculous and the seller no longer has any kind of voice but the expectations are constantly raised on the sellers. Have I been screwed by Ebay? Nope. No horrible experiences to relate. No hidden agenda. Just wishing the old Ebay (pre-2017) I knew would surface from the rubble.
I do NOT recommend selling to potential new sellers on Ebay. I cannot imagine starting as a seller in their horrible environment as I've been "almost" screwed by buyers by not realizing that Ebay did not have my best interests and had certain DEFAULT settings in my account set so that I could be screwed (and this is after having the same acct with them for over 10 years!) Run, do not walk away from Ebay.
eBay itself was great but it's ruined because of paypal. The staff and so called managers at paypal are so terrible. Paypal is what ruins eBay for so many.
...I used to use Pay-Pal as a Merchant. I sent over $300.00 worth of merchandise to a customer. My practice is to photograph items prior to shipping. Customer told Pay-Pal that it the items were incorrect. That was a blatant lie. Pay-Pal refunded customers money and allowed her to keep the items.
I cancelled my Pay-Pal account immediately. A week later the lady called my store to order more of these items! Unfair Pay-Pal.
I totally agree! Ebay used to be so fun to shop at. They allowed multiple forms of payment so almost no one was excluded. Now it's pretty much Paypal only. That wouldn't be so bad if Paypal wasn't so screwy. They can lock up your account on a whim and hijack your money. (Who needs identity thieves when you have Paypal, right?) Then they require tons of personal information to restore your account--including your SSN. I miss shopping on Ebay but probably will never use them again due to this. Well Ebay... Amazon is getting all my business that YOU would've been getting.
I agree, ebay and paypal do not have a CUSTOMER relations in any manner or form.
Its unblievable that a company will take action on behalf of an objector rather than its paying customers without any discussion whatsoever with that customer.

I notified the seller several times including the transaction ID from Paypal the seller stated simply they refuse to mark it paid and refund my money since ebay said i didnt even with the paypal payment. In ebay when a seller marks your transaction not paid there is no recourse for the buyer to validate and prove payment. The only options you get are pay or contact not validate. So i called ebay and i get nothign we can do wait till it is closed and the seller wins and then maybe we can help you after the fact. Ebay then after 7 days automatically files a non paym, ent claim against my account. When i click on the complaint filed against me the only options i have are to pay or contact the seller. When i contact the seller he says i am not giving your money back and i am not sending your item out and ebay is behind me so i dont have to honor this sell or refund. When i contact ebay you state there is nothing we can do. Your system Ebay, screwed up this transaction, you filed an automated claim against me. i validated to ebay and the seller i paid using paypal and provided the transaction code and proof of payment and i am told too bad by ebay there is nothing we can do. This is not legal and Matt is a peice of limp ### ###. Can i please speak to someone with some ability to correct your ###ing mistake? I need a representative of ebay to correct ebays ### up. I dont need some little skirt week knee ### who can not and will not assist me. This is a class action lawsuit and i can not imagine i am the only user affect by ebays unitended theft assistance. But you have allowed it to occur and continue to be parcipated against me with no recourse till after i am found guilty of non paymnet then maybe i can get some assistance from resolution center. Now when i go to report a user at the resolution center i go to ebay, customer support and customer support and then contact us i get we offer nothing. There is no way to correct your lying system which failed to mark my item paid. There is no way to correct the transaction and leave negative feedback for the seller who refused to refund my money or send item. I have no recourse and ebay is stealing my money and helping the thief get away with it. how many others are you doing this too which brings us to legal how do i get my lawyer ahold of your lawyer since no one at ebay wants to use common sense and correct your ### up? buyer protection abuse
I listed an Apple iPhone 4 on ebay, item sold as a typical auction style sale. After the winning bidder won, payment was made. Buyer then was very aggressive about shipping and handling procedure. Buyer insisted that I use USPS with delivery confirmation. So I followed all the steps given from ebay and then after I was rerouted to USPS for postage and payment. After approximately 10 days I was contacted by the buyer and he insisted that I didn’t send the item and then opened an ebay buyer protection case against me. I gave all the information that was provided to me by ebay and USPS. After much frustration and long hours of research, I found several others that this buyer has done the exact same SCAM to. We all have contacted ebay in hope to stop this unethical SCAMMING practices but ebay sides with this buyer every time because he found a loophole in eBay’s system. Ebay refuses to take responsibility for their mistake and allows foreign individuals in other countries to abuse the ebay buyer protection program. So, they receive the item, claim they didn’t get it and then get issued a refund. Ebay then takes the funds back from seller and if they cant recover, collections, harassing phone calls and of course, account suspension. To add insult to injury, this SCAMMER only had his account open for less than 3 months and had already SCAMMED 4 honest sellers. Ebay allows it to happen and returns the funds to them every time. Even after ALL the complaints!

It's not just the sellers who have problems with the protection plan.
I recently purchased an item that turned out to be defective. The resolution center found in favor of the seller; I was not given a refund and I was not able to appeal the center's decision. Why? Because I left positive feedback about the item. Even though at first glance the item seemed fine, I had not used it yet. Discovering the actual condition and defect of the item did not matter. Once I said that the condition was okay in my feedback, I lost all protection from this unscrupulous seller.
So it's not just the sellers who are getting screwed by the protection plan; it's the buyers as well.
harassment
GE Money bank claims that I owe them $8, 876.00 on some ebay mastercard, when I don't owe them anything. They refuse to send me any proof of any charges that were made to that card. When I told them that my identity was stolen, then refused to investigate, because the account was opened over a year ago, they told me that I was responsible for every penny of it. When I told them that my only income was social security, they claimed that they could take that from me to pay off this credit card debt thats not even mine. They have collection agencies and this Gorden and Weinburg harassing me at all hours of the day and night. I asked them to stop, they refuse. They ask me for my bank info over the phone. They torment me, harass me, call me names like retart and jerk, threaten to arrest me if I don't pay them in full, threaten to sue me, garnish my wages, repossess everything I own, ect. They even call at 5AM. Someone please stop them from this kind of harassment. put them out of business.
I can't afford an attorney. I'm low income. No one will help me with this. Andrea
misrepresented item
I purchased a wedding dress from princessformals09 on eBay. The dress is described as "WHITE" but when I received the dress it is IVORY with the tag attached to the dress stating 'IVORY." I opened a case with eBay with a claim that I did not receive an item as described. eBay favored the seller. I appealed their decision and they still favored the seller. Apparently, eBay does not feel the color of the dress is important but to a bride the color is paramount! To me as a bride looking for a wedding dress, the colors White and Ivory are as different as Black and White. I no longer trust eBay as Buyers are not protected from sellers that misrepresent their items.
Crybaby, thank you. I followed the procedures listed on eBay and it failed. I did not start doing research on the next steps until I had the door slammed in my face and that is how I found this website which has been very helpful and motivating. I should have mentioned in my initial post all the steps I took to resolve the issue but I only provided a summary of my last steps in order to find out what further steps I could take to resolve this issue. The more research I did the angrier I became over the stupdity of eBay's dispute resolution; it hurts both the seller and the buyer and if it continues, I don't think eBay will be the great success it is now in the near future.
I think you made a very wise choice by getting your businesses out of eBay. There are plenty of websites for sellers to sell their wares.
Thank you Mellen67. What I have found in my google searches is that eBay sellers most often fall victim to bad buyers. Most sellers would attempt to resolve a dispute and want to work with the buyer. I was unfortunate to get a bad seller. eBay Buyers Protection is supposed to be there to deal with issues when a buyer has a dispute with a seller and the seller does not attempt to resolve the problem. The issue is eBay Buyer Protection and the lack of intelligence behind their decision making process. I am gob-smacked by some of their inappropriate and unjust descisions in resolving disputes for both Seller and Buyer.
If ivory is white, white is white and cream is white to you, then this validates my decision to not purchase a wedding items from an eBay seller. BUYERS BEWARE of purchasing wedding items from eBay.
Crybaby, I did contact the seller first and received a hostile and threatening voicemail and that is when I opened an eBay dispute. Don't be too quick to judge. I have limited experience with eBay, however, with the exception of princessformals09 every seller I dealt with has been wonderful and I have no complaints. In fact, in my research on eBay complaints my heart goes out to many of these sellers.
Given this incident and my further research into eBay, I will never purchase another item from eBay as there is no protection for the seller or the buyer.
Success! Well, sort of:
eBay and PayPal have the same parent company so even though they are two separate companies they are siblings. Since eBay made the decision to favor the seller, PayPal cannot open a dispute on that transaction. I purchased the gown using my PayPal Connect account and that is why I felt that I could not dispute that transaction via PayPal. However, PayPal just informed me that my PayPal Connect account is through a third-party not related to eBay or PayPal and I was able to dispute the transaction. Awesome! I may be counting my chickens before they hatch as it can take up to 60 days to resolve this issue and there is no guarantee that I will be able to return the dress for a refund. Nonetheless, I am giddy with excitement that the door is not completely shut!
Again, thank you and I still welcome any suggestions.
Thank you celestestar! I have tried to dispute the purchase via PayPal but it would not allow me to because they consider eBay to have resolved the issue. I just tried again and the same issue. I gave up on PayPal because isn't it part of eBay? I will call PayPal and will post the outcome.
Thank you Mallen67! Unfortunately, I paid via PayPal so that door is shut. I am so sorry you had the same issue and feel your pain.
Thank you so much for your comments about my issue with eBay. I have tried on wedding dresses and white is the best color for me. Purchasing a wedding dress is a very important event and I have researched and felt confident that I could find the dress online and knew what kind of dress I was looking for.
However, the isssue is not whether or not ivory will look good on me but the issue is the item I purchased from eBay does not match the description of the item. It would be more beneficial if comments related to the issue of making a purchase on eBay based on the description of the item and what should I do if the item does not match the description. I have gone through eBay's dispute resolution and they have found in favor for the seller. I have also appealed their decision and again they found in favor of the seller. This whole process took less than two days. I am concerned that there isn't much thought on the part of eBay in their decision making process. Further, it is clear that the seller misrepresented the item as the color was decribed "White" and the dress is ivory with a tag that states the color is "Ivory". I welcome any advice on what further actioin I should take to resolve this issue.
The pictures she used were from Alfred Angelo which is fine but she also used pictures from a glitzandglamour.com listing of the same Alfred Angelo in a size 4 in white. The picture I posted to my complaint is a picture I took to show that the dress described as white is in fact ivory and the tag supports it. I now attach a picture from princessformals09 listing.
Ivory is not close to white.
I also have had bad experiences with ebay sellers misrepresenting their product. I buy and sell fashion jewelry and have purchased jewelry from some sellers that are totally not credible. I also used payPal and for the most part have been able to resolve issues as long as I save the description of the product purchased. There have been a couple of times that PayPal has resolved the issue with the seller only offering 50% of the purchase price. I no longer use ebay to buy my stock from I go directly to a wholesale jewelry company. I would suggest when purchasing something as important as a wedding dress Ebay is probably not the best source to go to. There are alot of discount shops or direct buyer companies out there check out your options and make ebay your last. Most of the time items come from overseas with outrageous shipping and extremely long delivery dates, you may not have time to see if you get what you pay for. Just my advice that's all.
I know that sellers have a lot of issues with eBay buyers but that little route runs both ways. I recently went through a problem as a buyer and believe me, you are out of luck. In the case of a wedding dress, ask any bride if she would be willing to substitute white for cream or ivory etc. You will get a resounding NO. That is the point of finding out which color is right for you. If a seller cannot tell the difference then they shouldn't be selling wedding items because those color definitions are important throughout that industry. A wedding gown is the most important gown a woman ever purchases. The buyer has a right to expect it to be listed correctly. However, I am not surprised that she got no resolution. I would like to know if she was able to leave Feedback. With eBay's 60 days to leave feedback rule, I couldn't even leave feedback to let other buyers know I'd been scammed. If you can't trust the descriptions, the feedback ratings or eBay's resolution process I guess it is best not to do business with them. I know I certainly learned an expensive lesson.
Most people actually look terrible in white wedding dresses and most dresses are actually ivory not white for that reason...
ripping off for phoney relics.
I returned relics of saints to this seller once and requested a refund. He then sent me an invoice for his "additional fees" and when I filed a complaint to eBay he refused to refund me once again, sent me some trash in package back with a tracking code he submitted to eBay and offended me many times on racial basis. eBay didn't want to solve any of my further complaints.

scam
An ebay user, intimate-indulgence sold me an EMPTY perfume bottle! The user lied to ebay to get them on his/her side, but I appealed and told my story. I just don't want this ### to go around scamming other people, or this company to continue doing fraudulent business!

Please do NOT buy from MoonStar7Spirits, (MS7S) she is a scam artist and liar. She ripped me off $49.99 dollars. I bought HAUNTED PSYCHOKINESIS RING MOVE MATTER WITH YOUR MIND! from her and she said it would work, and when it arrived, I read the instructions from her on an email, and it DIDN'T work! I kept trying, and have been for 1 week so far. I tried emailing her the first day it didn't work and she never replied. She has a return policy, but she won't answer my email. And according to others, she lives in a few different states.
She is a complete scam artist people! And don't waster your money on her. Don't be deceived by her eBay "Top-Seller" theme on her product page, and I don't know how she got that. And most importantly, how does she get all the "WONDERFUL" feedback?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If you bought it on Ebay, contact Ebay and file ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED. If you did not wait too long, you will get your money back. If you buy on Ebay, take time to read the rules that protect you from scam artist.
scam scheme on ebay by iloveaviva
Another one interesting fraud scheme on ebay. It is very likely that employees of the Chinese post office (or other people who have access to the post office computer network) are involved in this scam.
THE FRAUD SCHEME:
1. The seller opens an account on ebay.com and begins to sell some goods at low prices.
2. The seller obtains some "positive feedback" by properly selling and delivering some goods.
3. The seller obtains a fake tracking number that he or she can give to the customers. If the buyer tries to track this number on the site of the destination post office it tells that the parcel was accepted by the Chinese post office. This status never changes.
The important moment here is that this number is not available for tracking on the Chinese post office site.
4. The seller then tries to persuade the buyer not to apply for the refund. Seller tells buyer that the item had been sent already and gives that fake tracking number as the "proof". The aim of the seller is to keep the buyer from "opening a case" during 45 days from the purchase date in order not to allow the buyer to get the refund.
5. When 45 days have passed the seller terminates the communications and the buyer looses his (her) money.

On 01.14.2011 I bought a digital pH meter with two Buffer Solutions:

The item was payed immediately via PayPal service (paypal.com):

On February 14, 2011 I contacted the seller via email to ask where is my item. The seller told me that the item was sent on January 16th via registered airmail. The seller also gave
me the postal tracking number: RA076557995CN which is fake I think.
I live in Ecuador and it is still (March 25th, 2011) possible to track this number:

This page shows the following info (translated from Spanish) for the item RA076557995CN:

Also it is not possible to track this number on the Chinese post office site:

ebay final value fees - doubled!
eBAY IS charging double on what they call "final value fees". A seller is charged an "insertion fee" for being able to list an item as an auction (one fee) and as a buy it now item (another fee). Both fees are insertion fees and make sense. The problem comes when the item is sold. It can only sell ONE way or the other. If an item sells as an auction, the final value fee is a % based on the sell price. However, if the item is sold as a "buy it now" item, then there is a final value fee schedule based on the dollar value of the item sold. I have found that when some of my items sold this way - I was charged BOTH the buy it now final value fee AND the auction % fee - as if it sold as an auction too (which is a much higher fee). THIS IS DOUBLE CHARGING FOR THE FINAL VALUE FEES. When I complained, they DID issue me a credit for all of these items, but informed me that doing further business with them, I would continue to be billed in this manner. However, nowhere on any of their information in customer service or on their websites, does it state that as a seller: 'YOU WILL BE CHARGED BOTH AN AUCTION % FINAL VALUE FEE AND A BUY IT NOW FINAL VALUE FEE' no matter how the item sells. They don't say that because that is double charging for the same service. The insertion fee is paid under BOTH ways because as a seller, you want to give the buyer both options. However, in the final value fee - which is only based on the sold item - they can't charge both fees. It should be based on how it sold and as per their fee schedule. Yes, they try to confuse you. But this is really clear and I wish I knew where to go to get to the appropiate people to complain. I want to continue as a seller, but cannot do so, until they correct this problem. Out of my 16 items sold, which sold for just under $300 (not including shipping charges) they over charged me 8 times for a total of $5.26. I was issued a "one-time" credit because I MADE SENSE! But I was warned that it would not be done again. This is not right and they need to be notified and correct this. The amounts are small and maybe people don't notice - but they should. If you can help me or know where I can go, contact me at [protected]@msn.com. THANK YOU
I contact ebay today,
And i said that i dont use ebay as a delivery Service in any way..
So why are you charging me "Final value fee on postage" i pay (Rayal Mail) for delivery, Not you !
Ebay are not providing me with a postage service.. you are charging me for something that i have already paid Royal Mail for, half way around the world.. This fee is against the Law.
I carried on to explaine.. if i received an email from My 'carpet center'.. how would you like it if i charged you / ebay.. money for that email ?
Reply: "We have nothing to do with your Carpet Center.. Sir"
My Reply:
You have nothing to do with "Royal Mail Postage Costs either"
But you want money for me for using royal Mail..(which is NOT your right, or your company)
I bet (royal Mail) would like to know this.
I am not over charging shipping costs either.. you can check this.. infact i charge slightly under as i am NOT charging for PACKING, Jiffy Bags or Tape Bubbles wrap.
And i have an extra bill of £17.09p for shipping.
HER REPLAY CAUGHT ME OFF GARD !
"No, we cant be charging you for using you own choice shipping company..
That would be stupid"
She was kind and pleasent, and understood my problem,
And told me "THIS IS ONLY AFFECTING THE UK"
I instantly told her "Damn Right,
RIP-OFF BRITON - Only us people will put up with such a stupid thing."
But i don't think this is the case.
She then put me on hold for 8 minutes,
And came back with: "We have lowered the costs of ebay recently and to rectify this old surchage we lable this "shipping Charges" in the invoice.
We charge you for a final fee and then charge the you the extra shipping Charges.
My Reply: But you should not be charging me twice.. thats like charging me VAT twice..
I then went on to say: " If its NOT a Final Charge on Shipping then the WORDING on the invoice needs to change..
Her reply: "THAT A GOOD POINT"
Anyway she said that we have to write a letter EBAY UK / Not email Write to:
eBay (UK) LTD,
P.O. Box 9473.
Dublin 15.
Ireland.
I STRONGLY SUGEST EVERYONE WRITES TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS,
PS, everyone MUST do this.. to get this to work, dont leave it to someone else.. do your part.
Now eBay (as of April 2011) going to be charging final value fees based on ALL charges including any shipping and handling. While it has been an issue for some time how people are allowed to overcharge for shipping, eBay has done everything to curb the small seller to being able to afford to use their services. eBay has no desire for the small store and this is going to more than quintuple the final value fees on such items as listed int he format you commented on.
eBay has NO rights of charging final value fees on Shipping/Handling and Taxes. This is a third party and nothing to do with eBay services. They should have no rights to charge fees based on these amounts specially when many sellers are honest and trying to make products as affordable as possible to the buyer. They already scoop a 3% plus final value fee on the total amounts when the transaction is processed through PayPal. I have a very bad taste in my mouth and will be consulting lawyers here in Canada to pursue this matter on a national level.
Thank goodness there are other auctions sites that are attempting to provide a sound service with more acceptable final value fees such as Bonanzle and eBid. Just wish I could convince buyers to visit there as well.

I agree totally I sold a nice gold ring on e/bay and did not realise that final value fees now at 10% of sale price. Then they paid via p/pal another 3.5 % then the listing fee and insertion fee and photo fees. I have bought and sold an awful lot on e/bay in last 5 years. But you know what no more. I would rather keep the items. Just a note. Amazon are also getting greedy. Sell a book for £5.00 and they take £1.50 off you !. E/bay be warned you are killing the goose that laid the golden egg ie your customers. Shame on you.
ebay policies are fake / #
E -bay, paisa pay are making fool to Indian Customers.. they alwayz stop the payment of the seller.. and show your payment is on hold.. When we call them then their executives doesn't have answer. I had Seller account with them, they put my account on hold without any reason. I donot know what they are doing online...
bad business practices
I have been a member on Ebay for ten+ years. I've bought as well as sold, having only two issues in all those years. I sold a baby book that the purchaser changed their mind on. I gave them a return, however, upon receiving the book back, it was ruined. It looked like it had been sitting in the rain (possibly on their porch). I contacted Ebay and was told I had to return the money since their was no proof the book looked like that when the buyer received it (the buyer said in feedback that it was received in great condition). I refused and Ebay took the money anyway. I did not sell again for over a year. Last week I sold a couple of pairs of jeans that were non refundable (didn't want to deal with wrong size issues). She wanted a return and opened a case, stating they were not what she ordered. I called Ebay and they said I did not have to give her a return, their were photos and descriptions and I stated no returns. Ebay gave the buyer my phone number, who then left nasty messages on my answering machine. I called her back and told her I would give her a refund upon receiving the jeans back but would not pay for her return shipping. She said ok. I never received the jeans back and the case was escalated by the buyer, saying their were stains on the jeans (this was well over a week later). Ebay issued a refund and I never got the jeans back. I immediately closed my account which according to them, will take 180 days. They have also made it to where you can only leave positive feedback for buyers. If you sell on Ebay, you put your Paypal acct at risk. They will take the money oout, even if you do not agree. They will also give your contact information out without your consent as was done to me.

I've heard about many issues as a seller on Ebay from close friends and family. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.
Bait and switch / Grey market items
I bought a nikon camera from them, on Ebay . After I paid using PayPal they me to call and verified my order.
They tried to Sale me extra Warranty and battery. When I refused to take it they hang up the phone on me and I never received the pkg, till this week when I ordered a Nikon USA I received Grey market item.
When called customer service they refused to help me I charge back my card, please feel free to report if you have same issue like that .

i feel the same thing. they recently put one product on ebay nikon d5300 with two lens 18-55 & 55-200 . but nowhere they mentioned about warranty.
we are keep trying and calling them that is this product comes with warranty or not. but no one is responding.
they are selling this with extra warranty of their own. $ 120 which means camera cost gonna be like almost 700$ in that same price we can get it from nikon with nikon own warranty. i guess they should mention that this product does not include any warranty. u have to pay 120$ extra for warranty.
or give us few days warranty. but nothing mentioned ..people see price and think oh its cheap lets buy but on the ebay page there is no warranty mentioned so ebay gonna not support. they will say u can not get refund because the seller no where mentioned about warranty. so its your fault that u bought it even though there is no warranty mentioned -- thats what ebay told me when i called them to ask about this product. as seller is not responding.
I bought a Nikon D3300 camera kit which was suppose to include a 300mm lens. I got instead an 80mm lens. They were suppose to check with the shipper, heard nothing. I also sent them pictures of all the lenes that I recieved and they wanted pictures of all the boxes and at that time I did not have them. They are nothing but a rip off and I would not but from them. My credit card company is now involved in this.
I have dealt with this company several times and purchased all my camera equipment from them.
They shipped in a timely manner and all items were USA good as described. I spoke to Baila and she has been very helpful. I recommend you try contacting her at [protected] EXT 112 to resolve your issues.
major scam and does not protect sellers
I was an ebay seller for a year. I received alot ofpositive feedback, 1 neutral and 1 negative feedback. Ebay suspended my account all of sudden, because i broke their policy. Which one, I still do not know. I was tired of giving them all my profits anyway. I guess they checked my paypal account and found out that I used it to purchase items from China. Why should thisbe a problem, when the majority of ebay sellers are in china. Do they think Chineese sellers import goods from USA to resell? I guess ebay is run by an Asian.
bad seller
Yes, read it and laugh all you want. I hadn’t used EBay for about 2 years and wasn’t aware of how things were working and was in a hurry to get my cash.
Here goes the story. Right.
I’m saving up to build my own computer, so I decided to start selling a few things on eBay.
To start with, my PSP. I put it up on EBay for $350 Buy it Now on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, I woke up and it had sold. I was happy.
Someone in the US had bought it, and he emailed me his postage address and wanting to know the total price including postage. I emailed him that since it was meant to be posted to Australia only, I would go to the post office and find the costs to the US. So, on Wednesday I go to the Post Office and get the prices. $71.50 for Standard Air Mail, $89.50 for Express Courier and $40.85 for Sea Mail (you can’t send lithium batteries by air).
I emailed him that night (Thursday night) once I got home telling him of the options and the total prices.
I wake up on Friday morning and check my emails. He sent me another email telling me that he wanted the PSP shipped to his friend who is a missionary in Nigeria. I was fine with this, and he told me the prices of postage from the Aus Post website. I was fine with the prices.
Since I had not used PayPal or EBay for about 2 years, I was un-aware of how they worked now. I got an email, which I thought was from PayPal that morning, saying I had an Instant Payment from him and the money would be debited into my account once I had shipped the item and sent the so called ‘PayPal’ the shipment tracking number.
So on Friday, I go to the post office and send it off to the provided address in Nigeria by Sea Mail for around $45.
I get home, and send “PayPal” the shipment tracking number to receive my payment. So called “PayPal” said I would have my money in my account in 24 hours.
On Friday night, I get an email from EBay saying that his account had been hacked and that the listing had been removed. They said not to continue with the transaction.
Then a fake email from EBay came through saying it was OK to go through with the transaction.
I then studied the previous emails I got from so called “PayPal” and discovered they where phony email addresses. [protected]@accountant.com but the name was [protected]@paypal.com, so in my hurried state I thought it was all fine.
I e-mailed PayPal, EBay and advised them of the phony emails.
EBay gladly refunded the $3.69 Listing Fee. Oh joy.
PayPal said they would look into it.
Anyway, on Saturday morning I hurry to the post office to cancel the package.
I get there and asked if I could stop it. They say “Oh sorry, it has already been sent and there is no way we can stop it”. I was like are you serious?
I’ve written up a report and have sent it to the QLD Police, and will soon send it to the Australian Federal Police.
It just disappoints me how people can do this.
I presumed that it was how PayPal worked now (having to send the tracking number for the payment to come through) since I hadn’t used it for so long.
These Nigerians are losers, ###s and people with no lives. It disgusts me.
I’m really pissed off as now my parents now need to help pay for my computer.
Any suggestions on what to do?
Ebay is now the worst place to buy or sell. Too many stupid new rules.

false ebay and paisa pay proitection
I had purchased Epson home projector from ebay India with my id nani52k from seller 12c world and paid amount of Rs. 82450 on 1st of Jan 2011. Paisa Pay ID : [protected]. They informed that the product will reach me by 22nd Jan 2011 but I did not received in time. I got the product on 24th Jan. When I opened the product there was no lamp inside the projector. I had complained this to ebay and the seller gave me a message that he will take care and ebay will solve my problem. From then I was sending messages to the seller but no response. I requested the seller to send my original lamp but he did not respond. I had put a claim regarding this to ebay. Almost 20days passed and on 13 the Feb, the claim adjuster told me to send the product back. I had gone to Blue Dart and DTDC courier person to send it back to the seller. They asked the tin number of the seller to send the item. So I informed this to ebay that I want tin number but they have not given. After 3 days the ebay sent me mail stating the claim was closed as I did not return the product back. How can I send the product back without tin number of the seller? I asked them for my original lamp or repayment of the cost of my lamp. But ebay did not keep the commitment of paisa pay protection and cheated me. I want the company to provide my lamp or repay the cost of the lamp.

Ridiculous I sold 200.00 dollars in goods to a dealer, collectibles. I already sold them on discount to get rid of them and added a modest shipping fee of 11 dollars, which was actually 15 dollars. Then paid the extra cost of having it repackaged to look nice. all in all 21 dollars, so now im down to 180 proft, then I pay Ebays F U in the A S S fee of 20 sometihng dollars just to sell the thing, they say its coverage for shipping fees but thats BS its a profit gain for Ebay for every purchase you sell Ebay gets 9 percent of your sale in their pocket. Its robbery is what it is. They ALREADY make a profit on your seller fees more than enough to cover liability with the 2 and one dollar charges for bidding. This new thing with the 20 dollar charge is little more than a scam to rip us off. I will never sell with Ebay after this BS.
Ebay has the ability to assess the customer ratings for shipping fees for each seller. That's what the 5-star rating system is all about. They say this new policy is an effort to keep sellers from charging too much for shipping/handling, but what they're doing is penalizing their best sellers (me) who have 5-star shipping ratings and are doing it right. Why should ethical sellers be lumped in with the others for such fees. They could use a scale to charge more for those sellers who have the low feedback scores. Sometimes I think that the decision-makers at ebay think we're all a bunch of idiots. And then there's no way to let them know directly how this impacts our "business".
And I am sorry I can not answer why they hold on to your money. I have sold on ebay many times and pay pal has never held any money from my account.
So many sellers are way over charging for the shipping that it was only a matter of time before they did this. For a few years they tried other ways to get sellers to charge actual shipping and some changed but most were still charging double if not triple shipping just to avoid the fees for that money.
