Rude, lying associate
I ordered 3 turkey dinners and 100 piece chicken livers for my office on the night of 5/18/21. The gentleman assured me they could have it done by 10am 5/19/21. I got a call from 606-253-9485 at 6:48am. Another call from 606-437-2457 at 7:06am. Neither left a voicemail. I also got a private calls, but I can't guarantee it was from there. I was busy trying to get 3 kids ready for school while trying to get ready for work myself. I called to let them know I was running a few minutes late at 9:20am. Had to call numerous times to get someone to answer. When I finally got ahold of a lady, she told me they didn't make the order because I didn't verify it. She was very rude and I asked if it was her that called and she said she did several times. I told her I wish you'd left a voicemail so I could have called back sooner. She then continued being rude and said I should have answered the phone. I asked her for her name and another lady got on the phone. Leslie, bakery manager. She told me that her worker, Crystal, had told her that when she called it was a voicemail of a funeral home. Which is a lie, my voicemail is my phone number, no greeting. When I had said that I know that is a lie, Crystal kept raising her voice about me. Leslie told me I could come pick something from the hot bar. By this time, I'm in a panic, because I'm trying to feed my associates. I told her she should reevaluate her workers and got hung up on. This put me to driving all the way across town, had to pay more, and everyone had to eat after court instead of before our cases. This is ridiculous. I am a loyal Food City Customer and valued member of my community. I am not going to recommend deli again to friends and clients unless this is taken care of.
Desired outcome: Handled
Gas station
I paid for 50.00 worth of gas and my car would only hold 32.00 (approximately) when I told the cashier, she assured me that my card would only be charged the amount I pumped. That's not what happened. I was charged the full 50.00. I spoke with the manager this morning and they want me to file a dispute with the bank and contact the gas company. They make a mistake and I have to do all of the leg work! Expensive lesson!
Desired outcome: I wanted my 18.00 back
Food City In prestonsburg Ky
I am a frequent shopper and I come in there several times a day and Friday I was in there and I was walking by one of the registers when I heard one lady with regular clothes on yelling at a brown haired lady which is one of the cashiers over something This has bothered me for several days and it's not the first time I have heard this sandy blonde haired lady yell at other cashiers in front of employees and customers and I believe someone needs to speak with this employee on how to talk to the cashiers Especially in front of us customers at Prestonsburg Ky Food City I love to shop there Thank you for this matter Thanks Judy
Desired outcome: Hopefully someone teaches this young lady how to speak and show respect to the cashiers and baggers Thank you
Wrong prices
Whoever is stocking the frozen food needs to match the bar code with the label on the shelf. When there's a complete row of the same pizzas on close out, the pizza scans for regular price. I always check the bar code on the pkg and the shelf. I also make sure the description if the product is the same ie package and shelf label. Yesterday, a certain pizza had a red close out label on the shelf, I made sure all of the above matched. I just looked at my receipt, the $3.99 close out pizza scanned for $6.49. This error has happened numerous times with different products. It's not rocket science. *store: Prestonsburg, KY*
Store manager - Stephen Romines
On March 30, 2021 me and my son went shopping at your food city at 416 Eastern Plaza Way Newport TN. Everything was great until we went to check out then I heard the store manager yelling at one of the employee for being on break, now I personally know that is not the way a respectable Manager should be or act something needs to done immediately, this i...

On april 2 2021, I placed a go cart order through my local food city, which I have done a few times, this time I was so disgusted with my order, I place a order for 3 pounds of ground chuck, my total was 11.00 and some odd cents, I get home 3 separate packs totaling 18.00, place a order for dozen of eggs that was on sale, never got them, i'm pretty sure they wasn't out, due to easter being 2 days away, put special order for the 3/5.00 snack fruit cups from produce, never got also 4 cans of cream of mushroom soup on sale for.79 I got 4 in a package for 4.79, not to mention the hormel chopped ham (big block) wasn't cut right, i'm very disappointed, and probably never use your go cart ever again.. Thank you tina kidd
Gift cards
I bought some eBay gift cards and went to use them and eBay said they were not activated right. So went back to Food city and explained what eBay had told me so left the card with manager for 7 days and was informed that he could do nothing to help me, so food city said there are no issues and eBay said food city got paid, so both will not help me find a way to solve this problem
Desired outcome: new cards or money back

Cashier shorted our cash back. Damascus Food City
Me and my husband shop at FC almost every single day. As well as our Family... well on 2/14/21 a new cashier (I haven't met before) was checking us out. I have the receipt with the time and name of this transaction. Their cameras can PROVE that this is all TRUTH. Our total was $72.74, LEAVING CASH BACK AT $27.26. Well this cashier not only shorted us by $4 exactly, But when my husband noticed the mistake and let her know about it. She claimed she must have given him too much, to which my husband said "NO LISTEN TO ME. IF you were to audit your drawer and count it down, your till is $4 over." Unless you've done this to other customers? So I called the next evening and spoke to an assistant store manager. He claimed he would let the store manager know, and he would do what he can to make it right. Fast forward yet another day and NOBODY has called or even offered to give us that cash back. He told me the till WAS audited and my husband WAS correct, she DID infact short him. And her till came up exactly $4.00 over. The assistant manager was upset and appalled, when I told him nobody called for a front end manager, all the cashiers just kept telling each other the story, (1 that was on break but was on the floor) but nobody offered to help us. My husband just got irritated and walked out and asked me to call and speak to someone higher up. He went in the night after and was told that if the $ has already been taken for the night. There is no way to get it back to us?! SO THAT MEANS WHEN FOODCITY REGISTERS ARE OVER, FROM SHORT CHANGING CUSTOMERS, THEY POCKET THAT MONEY, BUT GIVE NO ITEM IN RETURN. THAT IS STEALING AND CLOSE TO EMBEZZLEMENT. AS MUCH AS WE SHOP, WE WILL NO LONGER PAY WITH CASH. AND ALSO, if she was $4 over and my husband told every cashier it would be over. How many other people did she short change that day? People who didn't catch the mistake? How much money could you embezzle from $2 here and $4 there? ALOT! The fact of the $ wasn't the issue. The issue was when we brought the mistake to her attention, SHE TREATED US VERY POORLY, rolling her eyes and walked off. Leaving us to speak to another cashier, , who was no help.. Never even tried to get us a front end manager. The other cashiers had to push her and show her HOW to call over the intercom for a manager, , because this girl also messed up my wic transaction.. She seemed like she was afraid to call the manager and acted like it was just too much of a hassle? She ALSO PAID THE $23.26 IN NOTHING BUT ONES. WE PAID WITH $100 (2x $50bills), AND WAS SUPPOSE TO GET BACK $27.26. Well she gave us $23.26 IN ALL ONES. WHICH WAS CRAZY. The assistant store manager for Damascus told me, YES the drawer WAS audited and IT WAS $4 over. So HOW ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITH MY FAMILY? BECAUSE WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO DISRESPECTFULLY BY A CASHIER, WHO HERSELF MADE THE MISTAKE. We literally just spent close to $80 CASH for our groceries. We spend hundreds up there every other day, I'm very disgusted how we were treated. We will no longer pay with cash, and also we will no longer allow them to bag for us. Considering how many items that have been "lost" after purchase, AND WEVE NEVER COMPLAINED, JUST GO AND REBUY THESE ITEMS. I HAVE HAD IT WITH DAMASCUS FOODCITY TAKING FROM THE LESS FORTUNATE. STEVE SMITH YOU NEED TO GET A HANDLE ON DAMASCUS. Because shorting us without making it right, IS NOT ONLY STEALING BUT ITS EMBEZZLEMENT, IN EVERY DEFINITION OF THAT WORD! Also, The asst. Store manager told me he had gotten several complaints about the same girl. (without going too much in detail)... WHY KEEP HER AS A CASHIER? She needs more training Or she needs a math class OR she just needs to go to stocking shelves or something and kept away from customers $.
Desired outcome: Obviously I want my $4 back &cashier put back into training as well as taken off a regular register and put her on a self checkout without having to handle cash OR put in stocking
Management
I worked at the gas n' go since November. I quit last night and thought I should explain my side of the story since the other managers wouldn't listen. I loved working at the gate station. Seeing how it was my first job since being diagnosed with ms. I just found out I can't hold in my emotions as good as I used to. Last night was my second night working nights. And I will admit I am not good at sitting and doing nothing. But I still tried my best
At closing and I did everything but counting the register by closing. When I got to the money I couldn't use the counter so i tried to count as fast and accurately as I could. The manager who got there kept saying "you need to have this done when I get here" and " I don't get paid to stay over".and I held my tounge as long as I could then he said "they should hire people who know what their doing" and "you shouldn't be working here if you don't know how to do this". He kept on making me feel like an idiot because "i didn't know what I was doing." And honestly I didn't want to believe people when they said they quit because of the managers now I know what they're talking about. Most, not all, but most managers are bullies.
Desired outcome: The managers need A class on being polite and nice with employees out Fired.
Bakery
I called to see if the food city bakery had any ready made small white sheet cakes a little after 6PM this evening. They told me yes so I had my husband go get it. When he got there it had not written on. The lady who wrote the greeting on the cake had a mask on but she had it COMPLETELY under her chin. NONE of the mask was covering her face. We have a mask mandate in our county. Everyone is supposed to wear a mask in public places. I am pretty sure that applies to the people who are handling/preparing the public's food. Harriman, Tennessee Food City store.
Desired outcome: All employees should wear masks at all times when they are working. ANYONE handling and especially preparing food should have a mask on that is COMPLETELY covering their nose and mouth!!
grocery store
In violation of corporate policy, employees NEVER wear masks or wear them improperly. Complaints to managers has gotten rude, smart aleck comments. Corporate does nothing about it, after 2 complaints over the same thing. COVID in our community is at least 10%, but never mind, your groceries will be contaminated by irresponsible and rude employees!
Desired outcome: WEAR A MASK!
Employee
As i was in prestonsburg foodcity this morning doing my christmas dinner shopping, i witnessed a young boy i think that works there (he had a name tag but didnt get to see the name) getting yelled at by an older woman in a black button up shirt with a chef looking hat on when i was looking at strawberrier to buy. I just wanted to speak my concerns on how she was toward this employee she was very disrespectful and unprofessional considering she done it in front of not only customers but in front of other employees. I can only imagine the embarrassment this boy had endured from her.
Gas station complaint
I visited my Food City in Pigeon Forge, TN today. I pulled to the gas pumps to fill my car up like I do every week. I wanted air my tires up before I got gas. I needed 2 quarters to have enough for the air machine so I went to the teller. I told him that I needed 2 quarters for air. He told me he wouldn't give me any quarters because he only had a few and they had to last 4 hours. I got into my car and left.
I have been a Food City customer for years. My family and I spend around $700 a month for groceries at your store. I thought this made me a good customer. But, I guess I was wrong since I couldn't get 2 quarters in change that I was going to spend at your store.
Next month I am going to take my $700 to Publix Grocery Store to spend. Maybe they will appreciate my business.
Employee
Very rude employee at Food City
Galaxy Va.
I love shopping at the newly renovated store. She was very rude when someone ask if she could get more help. The elder lady only ask a question and the employee just about bit her head off and ours too when she was ask not to be so rude then she left her counter and went to the back leaving a line of people standing there. This day and time everyone is so up tight with this COVID-19. If she needed a break maybe they should hire more help.
Human resources / employee rights
My wife was hired on 7 Nov 2020. She has an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Three weeks later, after several phone calls, she has not yet begun to work. The store that hired her claims they don't know how to input her employee information to issue her an employee badge. Thru all this time, we eventually learned that it was forwarded to corporate HQ for resolution. We called today and spoke with Natalie, who transferred us to Levi. Levi stated that the EAD could NOT be accepted as legal proof she is allowed to working in the US. A process called e-verify is used for all food city employees. E-verify is a voluntary process, not required by all employers. Nonetheless, levi stated that once they receive an answer from homeland security, they can proceed. After reviewing the e-verify website and i-9 online, it clearly states that employers cannot hold a person's employment pending the result of the e-verify process. Also, according to USCIS and Homeland Security, an EAD is sufficient proof of work authorization in the US, regardless to immigration status. I look forward to a speedy reply.
Bro, I had to get a lawyer and threaten to sue FoodCity over a $300 medical bill. I worked there, cut my finger, filled out all the paperwork and helped send the video to HR, was asked by a manager, "you have insurance right?", didn't answer that, went to the hospital, got stitches, sent them the bill, quit 3 months later. Got another bill, hospital threatened turning it over to collections, hospital couldn't get Food City to pay, FoodCity pretended they had no idea what I was talking about, few months later FoodCity lied and said they paid it, got harassing calls from hospital, hired a lawyer to send a letter to FoodCity, got a call a few weeks later from FoodCity HR confirming some information, Then they finally paid the bill.
All this over $300 which swelled to over $2,000 since it took a little over a year to pay it!
Now, I stumbled on this website looking for their HR and Payroll phone number. I work their again and they haven't paid me for overtime hours...what is wrong with this company?
i used to be a employee at bi lo and was wrongfully terminated.i won a lawsuit. i applied at food city ,got hired, and a month later was called to the office and was told that i was no longer being employed by them by a security hr person. i told the hr person that it was with bilo a totally different company that food city had purchased 5 yrs after i was employed the 1st time.and that i had won a lawsuit proving i was wrongly terminated. the store manager was apologizing to me mouthing im sorry behind the hr security persons back and told me real quick as i was leaving he was sorry. i later went home and had a stoke being so upset, this is why im responding 2 years later.
Customer service
The Food City on Euclid Ave has several extremely rude employees. First is John who is supposed to be some type of door greeter. He screamed at me & my husband because my husband picked up two masks, one for me & one for himself & I didn't realize it and picked one up myself. Not wanting to contaminate the other masks, I stuck the extra in my handbag. To that John yelled, "Fine go on then!" He then followed us around the store and when we went to check out, he stood beside the cashier. When we asked for the manager, he stood behind her in an intimidating manner. Then when we left the store he continued to follow us and called us [censored].
Spilled juice
I was walking through aisle 4 looking for the nacho chips and as I was walking I did not realize there was juice spilled on the floor and I slip and hurt my knee and now it is hurting I recently got in a car accident and going to physical therapy and now im having knee pain and as we went to go and pay the items we got I told the lady and all she said wa...

Hi, my name is Jada Abernathy. Oct.9, 2020 night I had called Food City in Athens, TN to verify that they cash checks and if they would cash my payroll check from my Job In Madisonville, TN because I had also let them know I had tried to go to ingles in Athens at one point and they couldn't because the check was out of Madisonville, TN and the lady said yes they cash checks and had asked what my job company's name I told her Cooper Services, and she quickly said yes just make sure I was there before 9:30 because that's when customer service closes and I said awesome. The only reason I needed to cash my check there was because I had got my check late so banks was closed and my kids needed milk so how convenient to be able to cash my check and grab a gallon a milk in one stop. Well anyways I got there the girl began to look into a book for something I guess that has to do with cashing the check couldnt find what she was looking for but she let me know was another book in the back she was going to check, she couldn't find whatever it was she was looking for once again but said her manager gave her the ok to go ahead and cash it, cool well then she cant figure out how to do something again and has to call someone up there which ended up being the lady from the phone call I had before I came and she guessed that's who I was I said yes and then I was all of a sudden bombarded by another worker or manager and a police officer that automatically accused my check of being a fraud and I was escorted out with the police and was completely humiliated, I work for Cooper Services Monday-Friday 8-4:30 and have since March, I called and told them the company and while was there they had my check tryna do this and that with it and not one time mentioned how they are having problems with this company's names on fraud checks or anything I feel like I was discriminated against and completely treated unfairly in the situation. The only reason I was paying a five dollar fee to cash my check there was to by my babies a gallon of milk and they didnt even have the decency to explain to me they was calling the police or that they was even having a problem with my check which is not in any shape or form a fraudulent check. I'm a 25 year old black single mother who was completely respectful and clueless to whatever was going and I did not deserve to be bombarded by the manager and a police because of others actions I have no clue or Idea about. I just really think this situation should be looked in completely and figure out a way to handle situations like that more appropriately they had no reason or right to call the police on me secretly and then tell me my check was a fraud after they told me they was going to cash it and acted normal the whole time they didnt even try to cash it or nothing they just suspected it to be and I have absolute no reason why, I'm sure if you guys check into it you will see the checks that was fraudulent probably doesnt have the same company I work for on it, because my job is legit and my check is legit I have all my pay stubs and it was just all handle unprofessionally and not fair and I will be taking this situation as far as I can. I was treated as if I was a liar and as if I was the person who has brought in fraudulent checks before or apart of it and never have I ever I would truly appreciate apology!
Thank you.
Employees wearing trump masks
I went to the Food City in Harlan, Kentucky today Aug 26, 2020. Had completed my choices and saw an employee wearing a Trump 2020 mask. What this employee does on their time is their business. But to boast a political mask is not right. I don't care what the party. This makes twice I have had over $100.00 in merchandise and left it sitting. I refuse to shop...
