refrigerator
I just got the run-a-round on my new GE side by side refrigerator. I was surprised that the temperature lights only come on when a button is pushed. I assumed there was a setting that would allow them to be on all the time, as I have seen with many other refrigerators. Also when the ice type is on cube, it sprays out a lot of small chips along with the cubes. You cannot hold a glass close enough to keep them from spraying all over the floor. I called GE the day after it was delivered and was told they would have someone come out. It took a week or so but a guy did come to the house, complaining about how far it was from his shop.I told him what the problems were, he borrowed my reading glasses so he could copy down the model number and told me he would have to talk to GE. I thought he was GE, or at least their knowledgeable representative. Along the way i had several conversations with Maria, my "customer advocate" at GE. Really? anyway the service guy eventually calls back, says the lights are only there to set the temperature and that I should buy one of those thermometers to stick inside the unit. Maybe two if I want to see the freezer temp too. He also tells me that the ice chip problem is probably caused by the supply line to the fridge allowing air to get in. I'm not making this up. I then have my final conversation with Maria who informs me that it looks like my problems are solved, she's glad that it's working properly and she's going to close the file on this. Then she thanks me and asks if there is anything else she can do for me. I explained that hadn't done anything yet, so it would be hard to do something additional. Obviously the goal of these folks is to stall the customer and wear you down so you give up and live with a crap product, and they did there job well, I give up. On the upside, I'll be moving soon and not taking this thing with me and my wife and I are building a new house which will not have any GE appliances.
washer
After three and a half years, the washer was making noises and water was leaking out the bottom and sides. I had a repairman take a look at it and told me I needed a new transmission which was $400. I ended up having to buy a new washer. It really isn't repairable for that price. The machine was washing and spinning at the same time. I will not be buying GE again!
Bought a GE washer/dryer a year and 1/2 ago. The washer started squeaking. We called a repair person today [protected]) and he said the transmission in the washing machine was leaking oil and repair cost would be $300.00. This is way too early for something like this. We need your help GE w/ this problem

Awful Customer Service; Unprofessional Staff!
Awful Customer Service; Unprofessional Staff!
Ge not only provides Awful Customer Service; they also have very unprofessional staff at the President's Office and Gary Mentoth is one of the unprofessional staff member who doesn't even know how to professionally talk to a customer but he is good at pissing customer off.
Why did I say what I have said above:
We have issues with a GE Cafe Cooktop and a GE Profile Refrigerator. The Cooktop is being investigated by U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, so, I am going to describe my experience with the Refrigerator. Within the last 4 months; GE technicians have visited at least 6 times, made 5 or 6 unsuccessful attempts to resolve an issue with Ice/Water dispenser.
When the Control Panel was replaced back in March 2016; it was not the exact same part but the technician installed and said it was the never model of the control panel. Immediately, we noticed 2 issues with that control panel.
1. The front plastic panel was peeling off from top left and top right.
2. The measuring system to dispense water was not working. e.g It was suppose to tell how much of water was dispensed.
For #1; the technician said it just needed to be pushed to stick on the glue; pressed both corners of the panel with his thumbs and said it just needed to be pushed to get it to stick to the glued part. TECHNICIAN BROUGHT THIS PART FROM HIS TRUCK.
A new control panel was ordered and replaced twice; both time we had exact same issues (#1, #2). This time the technician was Kenny; he opened up the box and installed the control panel. Kenny used his hands to glue the top left and top right corners of the defective area and installed but was not able to fix #2. Kenny said he will need to order the exact same part that came with the refrigerator. We waited about 3 weeks to hear from GE; we finally called GE and GE informed us that the service ticket was closed. I filed a complaint with BBB and a couple of days later received a phone call from a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL/UNETHICAL member of GE's President's office. I do not know who ordered a new EXACT SAME Control Panel (PEELING FROM UPPER LEFT AND RIGHT CORNER) but it arrived on June 2 and the technician came on June 6 to replace it. I called GE's BBB handling representative Gary Mentoth and mentioned that the exact same part has arrived which has not worked on multiple replacements. Gary started to give me crap and said they will need to install and try again but I refused to let him waste my time ( we wait about 4 hours each time a technician is scheduled). But, the technician arrived on June 6 any ways, looked at the part and said it wouldn't make sense to install the same NOT COMPATIBLE part and took it with him.
I called Gary again this morning to see if he was going to order a different part, but, I was shocked to hear his response. He accused me that I have been screwing up with a screw driver to peel the plastic off and he knows what my intentions are. I think he needs to be educated on GE's products and how they function, otherwise, he wouldn't be saying what he said to me.
Didn't surprise me
cafe - dishwasher
My dishwasher stopped working 3 weeks after I received it. I didnt realize it wasnt working. I thought I didnt push the start button, then the next day thought I pressed the wrong settings...a few days passed as I was away..checked again and the dishes werent cleaned. So I called Homed Depot who directed me to GE. I called 31 days after I received the dishwasher and they would not replace it- has to be within 3o days. So they sent a technician out. He ordered parts and another technician came out, said the parts were wrong and ordered more, then another technician came out, 3rd time- wrong parts and he ordered more. A month later I still dont have a working dishwasher- had to take off 3x to be home. I paid 1, 500.00 for the dishwasher - this is ridiculous.GE keeps sending more techs out and I dont have the time - I have spent countless hours on the phone.
washer/dryer
GE is refusing to fix or replace the washer/dryer. We have been trying to get the dryer fixed since December 2015 and the washer fixed since March 2016, we have had two service companies here they have submitted the parts list to GE and both times they have come up with some reason not to send the parts. the latest excuse was that they would have to talk to their Attorney before they could send parts to fix our washer/dryer, don't know why their Attorney needs involved in any type of repairs especially Warranty Work. Yesterday Gary Mantooth told us that he was going to dray this out until our warranty was over the end of July so GE didn't have to fix them and we would just be stuck with them. Why is GE such a disgusting company? If I had known this I would have never purchased GE
ge washer model # wpre6150k2wt
Had numerous issues with the washer since I purchased it. The stainless steel has a "Lifetime" warranty yet the basket separated from the hub (a known problem) as the material rotted through on the hub after less than 5 years. I called GE and they want to charge hundreds of dollars in diagnosis fees, labor fees etc. despite it being under warranty, its a scam.
ge washer
I purchased a ge washer on 12-2015. On 5-6-2016 it stopped draining and spinning during the regular cycle. The only way I could get it to drain and spin was to put the dial on drain and spin. This only works when I wash towels. It will not work on other items. Ge sent a tech to troubleshoot. The only thing he did was hook up a laptop to the washer. He claimed he updated the washer program and left without checking the washer operation. It did not work. Another tech came out a week later. (it takes a week before any tech can get back here because of their scheduling). He did not know what to do so he called a ge engineer. After troubleshooting over the phone with the tech, the engineer determined that the washer was ok. It is still broken. The tech did not check the operation. I am getting rid of this piece of @%&*+ and starting over with a better brand name.

I purchased this stove several years ago and have been problems with the knobs. The stainless knobs that originally came with the stove cracked in the back where they slide onto the stove. One night I thought the knob was off but because the knob was cracked it didn't turn off correctly and the stove was leaking gas into our home. Thank God the smell woke me up. I called the company and because the stainless knobs are so expensive I purchased a new set of black knobs. They never fit very well so I use 2 stainless and 3 black. Now the black knobs are not fitting correctly and the other night I woke up with a house full of gas again. I think this is ridiculous that the stove will eventually kill me. The stove was over $1, 000. which is a lot of money for senior citizens to pay for a stove. I thought this stove would be the last stove I would buy in my lifetime. Everything else is working fine except the knobs. Can you send me a set free of charge as I cannot afford to pay $32.00 per knob for 5 Knobs. My last stove was a black Kenmore and lasted 15 years and the knobs never broke but I wanted a stainless stove so I bought a GE which I though was the best. Can you please help me before I die from a gas leak? Thank You so much.

Case # is [protected]. Washer is model # GTWN425ODOWS -DZ145902G
Washer is 4 years old. Used by a 2 person household, no kids. Used very little.
Started to hear a banging noise about 3 weeks ago. Called GE service. Was told it was a transmission, the warranty was only for a year, it would cost $370 to fix. The washer was only $550 to purchase. Contacted GE customer service. Could not speak to a supervisor, was old she didn`t talk to customers! Carmen.
Spoke and emailed Teresa. This is the solution they came up with-For $370 plus the $100 I already spent, they would sell me a new washer. ( mine wasn`t made anymore, I wonder why?!) Not even at cost-Why would I purchase another GE if they didn`t stand behind their products?
2nd solution-they would sell me the part for $40, it was $174 and install at a discounted rate! Fantastic! $370 along with the $100 service call and they wouldn`t charge me another service call! Wait, what? So I`m being charged more than the GE tech quoted me but your giving me the part at $40 and a discounted price on service? So GE tried to royally screw me, Now they won`t answer my emails or phone( you get their voicemail) And Chris told my husband they were being very fair, that we were expecting something for nothing. Great customer service skills!
I want GE to fix their machine-apparently they purchase cheap parts that break easily. I already pd $100 and would like the part of $40 to be put in without an inflated price and profit, deplorable.
stacked washer and dryer
On [protected] I purchased a GE Stacked Washer and Dryer from Lowes and also purchased the extended warranty. 3 months later the dryer stopped working and I called the warranty company and they sent someone out a week later and fixed it. The end of February this year 2016, the washer started to leak. I called an independent person and they told me it was major and to double check my warranty. I called the warranty company and they sent out a person from ASH and he said it was to new, he couldn't repair it. I called back on 3-4 and you sent a person from Aguirre Appliance. He said he had to file a claim and order parts. I called Aguirre on 3-18 and they said they were waiting for the part. On 3-25, I called again no results. On 3-28 I called again and no results. On 3-29 I called the warranty company and they said that Aguirre would call in the next few hours. I have to go to the laundry and do wash. I have a toddler and have to do was daily. The warranty company said they could not reimburse me for the was. Prior to this I had a Whirlpool combination system for 0ver 25 years. I thought GE was a good company with quality products. I am so wrong. I am still without my washer.
ge glass top stove
I was injured by a GE glass top stove on July 3rd, 2015...The burner did not shut down when it was turned off and I was not aware until it was to late. The burner melted the over the stove microwave and caused toxic fumes and smoke to accumulate through out the two story rental home, none of the eight or more smoke detectors through-out the house went off. It was so smoky I could not see to retrieve my cell phone to call 911. I am a petite 5’2 110 pound lady and I had to move the stove from the wall to unplug it to get it to shut down. In doing so I fell back twice into the cabinets behind me and re-injured the fusion I had done to my lower back from a car accident in 2009 and broke my pelvis. I also sustained smoke damage to my lungs.
whdvh626fww front load washer broken basket spider wh45x10079
My GE washer has a broken spider on the wash basket. It has a 20 year warranty but I must pay the labor and related costs. The GE center wants to have a technician come out for $79.95 to tell me what is wrong and the cost to repair. I already know what is wrong with a part that is under warranty for 20 years and can replace it myself instead of a labor charge that is more than the washer is worth.
The internet is full of complaints about the spider breaking and the excessive cost to repair a warranty part.
I would be happy to repair it myself if GE would supply the parts

I have the same complaint about a GE front loader washing machine. The model is not the same but the replacement part WH45X10079.
is the same. I did not see any information about a 20 year warranty. I first replaced the bearings and had the same results in the spin cycle which was smoke coming from the basket area near the end of the cycle. I contacted GE appliance and was told that there is no recalls on this machine. They did not mention that the basket was guaranteed for 20 years. If anybody has documentation on this 20 year guarantee I would appreciate it if you would pass it on. They gave me a discount on the metal basket but still cost me over $400.00. After replacing the basket the machine worked with no problems. This process was extremely time consuming and would not have been feasible if I had not done the work myself. After removal it was obvious that the spider that supports the metal basket (steel) was cast aluminum which had disintegrated . This was bad design using two dissimilar metals. Calling GE Customer service I was offered $50.00 for my troubles and was told that they would do nothing else. Nice Company.
general electric has no extended warranties uses another company
I purchased A GE oven around October 2014.
I used the oven for baking.
Near the middle of January 2016 the baking oven broke.
I contacted GE and was told that GE no longer has extended
warranties and all extended warranties from GE are handled
by Assurant Solutions, a third party for the warranties,
which provide standard warranties of parts and labor.
Assurant Solutions claimed it sent me an e-mail in
2015. I contacted GE yesterday, and contacted
Assurant Solutions, I spoke to Assurant Solutions
and was promised an e-mail( which I never received)
Assurant Solutions assured me I would receive in
about two weeks information about my contract
with them and about Assurant Solutions in general.
I never received any e-mails or letter from GE
that Assurant Solutions would extend my
warranty. I paid nearly four hundred dollars
to maintain the warranty for three years.
Assurant Solutions from my experience
in my communications, difficult to
contact and in general not a company
I want to deal with for a three year
period. Consumer Affairs listed
315 complaints regarding
Assurant Solutions.
I am planning on purchasing
a new oven, I cannot tolerate
the aggravation with Assurant
Solutions. Even though my
decision is expensive,
I would rather spend my
money than deal with
Assurant Solutions.
I sincerely doubt I would
maintain my three year
contract with Assurant
Solutions!
I firmly recommend that
GE appliances are to
avoid and never purchase.

ge range model # jsp42dn3cc
The outer door glass shattered in the middle of the night with no apparent cause. This appliance is only 4 & 1/2 years old. This occurred on January 27th in the middle of the night. Glass was propelled outward and sideways for about 10 feet in each direction. The oven hadn't even been used the previous day.
GE service arranged for an appliance repair company to inspect the issue and the company representative said this all to common with GE ranges. That the original glass used was of very poor quality.
The service call and the replacement of the door glass is going to cost a total of $413.40.
I feel that GE is responsible for this product failure and at least should pay for the replacement glass and labor.
That having been said, I'm really not comfortable with just a replacement glass as I'm afraid this could happen again and someone could be injured.
I believe that GE should in, good conscience, replace this range with a new unit.
washing machine gtwn4250d2ws
This washing machine has an agitator, which has 2 separate pieces creating a seam halfway down the agitator. Strings from my clothes get caught in the agitator. Drawstrings on sleep pants, drawstrings on athletic shorts, sweatpants, hoodies, etc. I have tried tying everything before washing but sometimes they come untied and get caught. Machine always finishes the cycle but I am afraid at some point it may cause damage.
I emailed customer service and they told me to use garment bags. Most garment bags that I found are small - made for delicates. There is no way I could fit a men's large hoodie in it and even expect it to wash properly. In some loads I might have 10 items that I have tied.
Anyone else with this issue?

GE service repair has treated my family unfairly. We have Mongram refrid and freezer. We called for service and they came out and told us to defrost our freezer unit and they would come back. On the day of repair (12/29/15) after we defrosted our huge freezer they called at 9AM to tell us they would not service our house. They said that the service provider from 2011 said we had a hostile environment. When I asked for details they said there were not specifics, but that all the repair people in our area will not come to our house because of the note made in 2011. To tell you the truth we did have a problem with the one repair person but honestly he treated us unfairly as well. And now they are "playing" with us. As strange as this seems, they made a second appointment and made us have to wait close to two weeks as our freezer leaked on our floor, made us empty are freezer and then called us day of service to tell us they were not coming. No apology, no solutions. They treated us unfairly. I talked to a supervisor in North Dakota, employee # 80658 and was told that she was the "end of the road" and no supervisor would call me back. Please do not buy any GE products. The customer service department is cold and uncaring. Many of us consumers are left with appliances that do not work. And if you get placed on their internal list--do not service--you have no rights. I just want GE to know there is always two sides to every story and I just wanted someone to listen to mine. We were unfairly profiled, and I wanted someone to address our situation fairly. They basically told me to go pound sand and the "supervisor" did it in a way that deeply hurt my feelings. They made us feel like outcasts. Like we had done something so terrible in 2011 and we are not worthy of being services. I just have to say--that is not the case. And now I know what it feel like to be unfairly profiled by a system that treats you like you are less than others. This situation has been eye opening experience for me and my family. Please reconsider using GE brand. The organizational culture is not a good and the customer service department is the worst I have every dealt with.

dishwasher
We bought a brand new GE portable dishwasher 18 months ago. From the beginning we noticed it did not clean our dishes as well as our 20 year old model we had replaced. We thought it might be because of the soap we were using. Coincidentally our nephew had purchased the built in version of the same dishwasher and he found the same problem. At about 16 months the quick disconnect coupling device failed. (The little fingers that keep it attached to the faucet failed. ) Imagine our surprise when we found the part cost over $100.00, not including installation. We called GE and after some discussion we were provided the part for $20.00 plus shipping. But we still had to do the labor. We did, but it was not a simple job. Many of the issues were related to cross threaded screws. There is no excuse for the poor performance of this appliance. Last GE we will ever buy.
ge 22.7 cu ft french door refrigerator, stainless steel, model #gns23gshss
Bought all new GE kitchen appliances 8 months ago, in March 2015. After about 4 months, we started noticing water pooling in the bottom of the fridge. We initially thought we were being careless when getting water from the internal water dispenser, causing water to drip onto the bottom of the fridge, so we became very watchful and careful to avoid doing this. However, water continued to pool in the bottom of the fridge, under the deli drawer. I called GE to schedule a repair, with the appliance still being under warranty. Despite the fact that I had registered the appliance at the time of purchase, they were unable to assist me without both the model number and serial number. So, I went home, dug up the information and called back. On my second call, I was able to schedule a service call for later that week (Friday). Well, my husband took off of work and waited around the house all day, and no one showed up. When I called GE to see what the problem was, I was advised that the appointment had been cancelled because they did not have a service provider in my area. When I asked why I wasn't given the courtesy of a phone call to let me know they unilaterally cancelled my appointment, they did not have a response to that. After three weeks of them unsuccessfully "searching" for a service provider in my area, they offered to replace the appliance, which was fine with me. they advised that they would send a delivery company out to pick up my appliance and deliver a brand new appliance. Again, after several weeks of "searching" they were unable to locate a local delivery company to perform this task. So they finally offered to buy back the appliance, which was also fine with me. I specifically confirmed that they would issue me a check and I would get to keep the appliance and they responded "YES". Now, mind you, it has now been over 6 weeks since I initiated contact with GE and my problem is still not resolved. before they could issue a check to me, they needed the purchase receipt. I sent it to them. A week later, they needed something else. I complied. A week later, they were unable to read the fax so they asked me to resend. Again, I complied. A week later, they needed something else. We are now 9 WEEKS past my initial service call with no resolution. My case manager called today and advised that someone would be in contact with me "within the next week" to arrange to pick up my appliance and they would give me my check at that time. I'm like what? that is not what you told me three/four weeks ago. All in all, DO NOT BUY GE APPLIANCES. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT LIE TO ME FROM THE BEGINNING. What would I do if there was a serious problem with the appliance, such as not cooling? I would be without a fridge for over 3 months! Horrible, Horrible, Horrible customer service.
ge profile fridge
Mold humidity problem on this GE profile fridge. 2 service calls. Still not fixed. Will never buy GE fridge again. Paid 3000 dollars 5 years ago and it's rusting inside the doors. I called them. They said they will give me 20 percent off on repairs. I have already paid 400 on it with nothing fixed. Problem is there. Don't buy GE fridge. I googled and they...
