Disappointing Experience with Harry & David: Poor Customer Service and Mediocre Products
So, I wanted to get my friend a nice gift basket from Harry & David, and I found one that was only $25. But when I went to check out, they charged me an extra $10 for shipping. And then, to make matters worse, they charged me twice for the same order! I called their customer service center to ask what was going on, and they told me that this is normal and that they do it to confirm my billing address. But I used a debit card, not a credit card, and no other website has ever done this to me before. I asked if they could reverse the charge, but they said they couldn't do that. They also wouldn't conference call my bank to help me remove the hold on my funds. I was so frustrated!
To make matters worse, the gift box that I received didn't look anything like the one on their website. And the cookies weren't even that good! I wish I had just bought a holiday cookie basket from the Girl Scouts instead.
Overall, I was really disappointed with my experience with Harry & David. Their customer service was terrible, and their products weren't even that great. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Horrendous Experience with Online Retailer - Do Not Recommend!
I placed an order way back in November for my elderly parents to be delivered between 12/18 to 12/23. I ordered two items to go to the same address. But, when only one item was delivered, I sent an email on 12/17 asking about the status of the other item. I received two totally nonsensical emails in return, but finally got an email at 6 pm on 12/19 advising that the item I ordered was now out of stock and would not ship until the middle of January. I wouldn't have gotten that email if I hadn't kept sending emails because the prior responses were so unhelpful. The person who sent me the email apologized because he said someone should have called me to let me know that the item would not be delivered by 12/23 (date promised in order) to either make other arrangements. Basically, I was penalized for buying early and delaying shipment to arrive Christmas week.
I called customer service twice on 12/20, but neither person could speak English, and they weren't helpful. The 2nd representative refused to transfer me to the gentleman who had sent me the helpful email. I asked to speak to a manager, and after waiting on hold for several minutes, she came back on the line and said someone would call me back and told me to hang up. Well, needless to say, I NEVER received a call back. And now, literally within days of Christmas, no other vendors can get a present to my parents in time for the holiday. I had to email a cancellation request, and surprise surprise, no apologies from the company. I had to place an order through Amazon, but it will not arrive in time for Christmas.
Honestly, this business is so bad that 1 Star is too good for the completely horrendous experience. My recommendation- buy local where possible because this company totally does not care about the customers, and it is especially egregious given the exorbitant prices they charge.
Unknown charge of 115.14 made to my credit card

I placed an order of Western Honeybells on December 13, 2022 as a Christmas gift. I was told that it would be delivered by January 31, 2023. I never received an email or notice until February that the order would not be delivered until February. I contacted your people via chat on your website February 10, 2023 to see what could be done since the recipient would be going away in February and I was concerned it would be delivered while they were away. I was told there was no way they could guarantee the delivery timing, but if it got delivered while away, the order would be reordered. After other options that were discussed, I wasn't impressed with the options. I felt like I was talking in circles with the online agent and left the discussion with I would wait and see when the order was delivered and hope for the best. I didn't say good-bye. Today, February 17, 2023, I checked my account to see if the ordered delivered. To my shock, it was marked cancelled! I called customer service to find out what happened. I was told that the order was cancelled due to customer request! This was a lie! I did reorder the fruit as I was told the order wouldn't be delivered until March now. This would allow for my brother to return from his trip. I'm very disappointed and angry with how this whole order was handled! I would have kept the order cancelled if it hadn't been a gift. This is the first and last order you will get from me.
Desired outcome: Training people not to cancel people's orders out of spite. Clear communication when weather related occurrences delay shipment. Compensating customers for the time and inconvenience to send a gift.
6 LBS Cushman Florida HoneyBells.
I purchased 6 lbs of Honeybell Oranges for $46 which should have arrived 1-9. They showed up today and of the 15 oranges, 6 were ROTTEN, 4 were GREEN (clearly not ripe) and 5 punny oranges that had no resemblance to a Honeybell (which I have order many times in the past).
How a company like Harry & David’s could allow someone to pack & ship out such garbage is DISGRACEFUL.

I recently received a Xmas gift box from my niece in Wisconsin. I was present at home when it was delivered & promptly brought inside. All items are in good condition except the fruit. Two apples & 6 pears were frozen solid and black as coal. They had apparently been sitting somewhere in the freezing cold for some time. Can these items be replaced by Harry & David?

I ordered a gift basket for a very close friend for the holidays. Our friend is going to be having hip surgery in the near future and is not able to walk great distances. He is on crutches.
Today, our friend contacted us to say that the gift basket was dumped at the bottom of his path from his house near the mailbox. Dumped is the correct word because it was broken apart. There were ants crawling all over it, and the nuts were broken open and strewn all over the road. The fruit was also in the road and some of it was smashed. Our friend had to get down on his hands and knees to clean up the mess and throw out the damaged merchandise. As if this isn’t bad enough, when I contacted Harry and David, the initial customer service rep was extremely rude and condescending, and all she could repeat was her speech – “I’m so sorry that happened to you.“ She then re-ordered the merchandise as a replacement to be sent to our friend but it now will not get there until December 23 – well after I intended for it to be there for specific reasons. After pushing, another customer service representative said they would include a letter of apology to our recipient. My experience with customer service was ludicrous. They said they promised it will be delivered in good condition this time, but it should’ve been delivered in good condition last time. The only thing they offered for the “inconvenience” was to refund my delivery fee, which is a joke since today is national free delivery day at Harry and David anyway. More importantly, me getting $25 back for the delivery does absolutely nothing for my recipient and does not in any way address the embarrassment of having something delivered in that condition and then to have that poor man have to crawl around on the ground to clean up a mess. I find it offensive!
Desired outcome: They should expedite delivery. It should be an upgrade or they should refund the full order. I will NEVER order from them again

I provided two addresses for possible recipients but I am not sure the orders were in fact placed. I gave up on the other two. I am not sure if I was charged for anything. Should I file a fraud complaints with the company.

fruit baskets for holiday
I attempted to buy some fruit baskets 10/26/22 for thanksgiving - baskets not available till December 5th. Reduced my order to smaller baskets - order processed for delivery prior to Thanksgiving - great, right! NO. I was not able to use the BOGO50 because even though i placed the order prior to October 31st, since they are shipping after November 1st the sale does not apply. This will be

Yes, I tried to order a fruit gift basket that was advertised as buy one, get another one at 50%; while on the website trying to place an order I couldn't get the discount on the second one, so I called in and the representative processed the order supposedly at the discounted price, it was never shipped, I called my brother see if it was delivered and he said nothing had arrived.
I called customer service the rep. stated that I would need to speak to a supervisor, but that they were all busy. She said she could have one call me back, and to date, no one has called.
It seems that is their corporate policy, I am having a similar problem...Maybe because it is the holidays and they are too busy to take care of customers...Well in time the holidays will be over and they will have less customers to and less orders and charges to mix up.

Charge is $215.-- to Harry and David and have an Automatic Pay. I would like to know more about this charge. Bill was approximately $215 made on 04/24/-- and payment is $31.92 automatic payment. To my knowledge, this is an authorized credit card charge.

I received a surprise belated birthday gift from Harry & David at

on 5/27/22 the 6 pears were all rotten & either brown or turning brown. I have several numbers on the box. There was just a message Happy Belated Birthday so I don't know who sent it. i received it today, early afternoon.

Shipping issues FEDX
Bought assortment of chocolate basket from Harry and David for Mother’s Day. They advertise FEDX EXPRESS shipping. Left Oregon to Ohio to Ocala Florida which is 30 minutes from my parents house, but no FEDX reroutes our package to Orlando Florida 2 hours from my parents house, THEN sends the package back to Ocala Florida for delivery. This is why our package was delayed 24 hours, and this is EXPRESS shipping. See picture of chocolate after express shipping. Online ordering and "Chat" feature
I placed an order on 4-26-22 at 2:12 PM. It is now 3:37 PM and I just got off the phone with an agent (Nigel). He was the THIRD agent I dealt with. Firstly, your online promo codes have a glitch. Even if an item says it is a "Buy One Get One 50% off," apparently if you are buying other items that are on sale, the promo code for the BOGO50 item will not work. If the first agent had told me to place the orders separately, I would have complied, but it was never explained WHY the promo code would not work -- and I did ask. Secondly, the "Chat" feature is very BAD. Apparently, the agents are located in the Philippines and obviously there is a language disconnect, as well as the fact that the agent must be fielding several "chats" at one time because it was obvious that my agent was not there most of the time. It took way too long. On top of that, the second agent did not apply the BOGO50 code as he had indicated that he did, so it forced me to call a live agent who, hopefully, has resolved the problem.
Desired outcome: Fix the problems with the glitches on your online ordering website. Hire people who will do a better job.
Dishonest and waste of time

I wanted to share this to prevent them from wasting your time.
I placed an order on Jan 8, 2022, for a Valentine's Day wreath and received an email confirming I would receive my order by Jan 20, 2022.
On Jan 18, 2022, I received an email stating the wreath was no longer available and that I needed to call in order to choose a different item.
Note: on Jan 18, I checked their website and the wreath was still available for sale
Once they figured it out (10days later) why didn't they simply refund my money? instead of wasting my time and forcing me to call in order to "choose a different item"?
Since they left me no choice but to call, I called them on Jan 18th and was told that the email I received was incorrect and that the item was not sold out and would arrive by Feb 2nd.
I was confused by this and explained the email I had received, but the representative confirmed again that there were NO issues with inventory and that my order would arrive by Feb 2, 2022
On Jan 26, I received an email stating that they are "unable to process my order because they needed additional information" and that I needed to call or they would cancel my order.
I called and was told my order was sold out and I needed to choose a different item Why waste my time like this?
BTW, this item still shows that it is available on their website as of today Jan 26 The item is the Elegant Heart Wreath.

I purchased a light fruit of the month club (9 months). It started in April 2022. Here is what I would like you to know about your fruit and deliveries:
April - pineapple was good
May – strawberries were good
Jun - mango was okay
Jul – cherries arrived hot and tasted awful
Aug – peaches never made it to me, customer service said because of hot cherries and no peaches will add two more months on to my order and will send out the September plums right away
Sept – Wednesday evening (yesterday), peaches arrived hot and moldy!
I am a celebrations passport holder and have been dealing with this family of stores for about seven or so years and only challenges I had was with deliveries not getting there on time, however, they have always rectified the problems. This morning I am so disgusted and disappointed with Harry and David! First, why do you ship fruit NOT in a refrigerated box? Customer service gave me the FedEx tracking number for the plums and I checked that on Tuesday where it arrived in Georgia, whereas, I was expecting them yesterday, Wednesday, September 7. Instead, I received the hot moldy peaches. The plums are still sitting in the Georgia facility in a warm box no doubt.
I think I would like to cancel the rest of this club and refund me my money. I started in April and my family, and I only could enjoy three months of good fruit. The cherries were not good the peaches are moldy, and I am sure because of the heat the plums are not good. Please refund me $124.32. Here is how I arrived at that:

Don't know how to say this, but I just received a gift basket from my daughter and her husband for my 80th birthday, it came in a basket with four pears on the bottom, then on top were party mix, moose munch, lemon short bread cookies, peanut butter pretzels, red licorice, 4 separate cookies, bag of assorted jellybeans. Every item was stale, hard and tasteless with the exception of the licorice (didn't try) and the pears are not ripe yet (no problem there.? We have bought and received from Harry & Davids before and not a single problem. I don't want to tell my daughter and cause her embarrassment, however it would be acceptable for Harry & David to send a FRESH Replacement. Ordered from them many times/years...This order ([protected]) didn't give me a date selection for delivery, but charged $19.99, then showed over a week later (9 days) deliver date...One would assume for a small box of chocolates, that would be fedex 2nd day (or overnight). Need it for 2/1 (97th b'day gift), called and they charged ANOTHER 9.99...so almost 30 bucks for a small box, 4 days shipping.
I order ME live lobsters overnight, cheaper than this. Sadly, although they have always had good product, I won't be ordering anymore from them.

Bait and Switch
Just placed an order of items with big "BOGO 50%" banner on them. Many items had this banner. At checkout I entered the given promo code only to get the message "promo code has expired". I started a "chat" with an agent who kept me holding for more than 30 minutes. When they came back they said the code was expired. I went back into the sight to get screenshots of the promo banners and they had all miraculously changed to "up to 20% off" banners. I told the "agent" to cancel another order I had placed just prior to trying to order the BOGO items and they said the could not do that because the order had "already been processed" and I should "chat them back" after 24 hours to see what they could do. I'm not sure where they are but they chat like Indians I have worked with in the past. Very unethical company!

Overcharging
I just placed 3 orders over the phone.
The gal in Jamaica who took the order stated she gave me BOGO50, 50% off second item. Instead about 1/2 was taken off shipping and "additional item charges" of ~ $9 were added back in. The total should be ~ 135. + shipping. Instead it's 160.92
The second order, which was with a free shipping code, has an additional 2.99 added as additional item charge. The gal in Jamaica said it was tax. We don't have tax on food.
My final order, with a 15% savings, should have had $27 deducted from the bill. Instead, the coupon only deducted $18.00, yet added an "additional item charge" of $11.96.
Something is very wrong with these totals. If Harry and David looks up order # [protected], they can find all three of my orders today. I would have preferred to mail them directly, and cannot find an email address. The only phone number I find went to Jamaica.
