We made a purchase in Avon store on July 14, 2023 in the amount of 91.04 paid by check # 7694. when my wife was signing for the amount of 91.04 the computer shut down. The cashier called to someone in billing and told her that the check did not go through, she tried to put the check through again and it wouldn't accept. She told my wife to write another check out for 91.04 check # 7695 and she said she will have to go to another cash register to process the order.
She assured us that the other check # 7694 did not go through.
When I received my statement it showed both checks went through # 7694 for 91.04 and # 7695 for 91.04. I went into the Avon store and talked to the manager about the double charges. She informed me that only one tranaction went through.
I waited several weeks and contacted my bank "Key Bank" informed me that both checks did go through.
So I filed a dispute for the additional 91.04. they did get the 91.04 back to my account on August 03, 2023.
I was paying a bill at Macy's today 9-07,2023 with a check "Key Bank" for 50.00 and they told me the check was declinded.
I called the Certegy Check Verecation system and thay told me that there was a unpaid balance of 91.04.
I am not happy with JC Penney Company and will not be shopping at your stores in the future. My credit was affected due to this incident.
