Every time I visit this kmart store, it seems to be under staffed! I always have to stand in line for an extended period of time. This is an issue that keeps from going to this kmart store. Instead, I will drive the extra miles to get to wal-mart. The manager of this store should work very hard to improve it's customer service. There were also several customers in the line with me that were complaining about the same issue!

Because I jokingly talked about marijuana to another associate in receiving (and I didn't even initiate the conversation), I was told to take a drug test under "random suspicion." (Took the drug test, and, got no results back, even though HR, LouAnn said that she would call me back as soon as they came in.) I never received a call from either KMart or Occumed, a division of StLuke's Hospital that administered the drug test. When I tried to apply for unemployment, I was denied because it the statement claimed that it looked like I quit because I was angry, which I wasn't. From what I heard, Store Mgr. Cindy has had quite q reputation of being a bully in other stores she has worked in: I also think that there may be a clandestine affair between her and Lou Ann. My people coach in apparel, Annie, was constantly bullying me and embarrassing me in front of others because she is PuertoRican and I am Caucasian. I am having a hard time finding work because of them and their tarnishing my record. Thanks.-r.h.

How in the world a big company like this have false advertise ment about a $2, 500.00. What on God green earth is kmart thinking about. This is really a scam and someone need to address these complaints. Because I think that the complaint are real and from real people. So I will keep a copy of this email and the receipt also I will make copies of other people complaints concernin this mess.
give away with the receipt and a 19 digit code to enter to win the money this is a mess and I think personally this need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau. And if the company know that the reciept is not sufficent then the company need to stop fooling the customers about this give away. I went to Kmart in Fitchburg, MA on [protected] at 1:00 PM. and went to purchase three Playtex bras and a plunger. I then went to the register to check out my items. I saw a woman cashier waiting on a man and I got behind this man. The cashier was named Estelle Nolan at register #10. She very rudely told me she was CLOSED! I then looked around for an open register. I found one light on. There were 9 people in this line. (I counted them). I then went back to the original cashier and asked her if there would be any more cashiers coming on duty? She replied to me, " the're on lunch; they will be coming ". What ever happened to the customer comes first? This cashier could have been more courteous and said she will call for additional help. Well I cannot believe you can run a popular store like Kmart with one cashier on duty. How unprofessional is this! To let a customer place her items on the register and walk out the door will surely lose you business from her and maybe others. I will be sharing my experience with my family and friends.

In the June 8th Sunday paper (Florida Today), there was a Kmart ad section. Within this section was an ad to enter a sweepstake to win a trip to Daytona for a father and son and to meet Dale Earnhardt Jr. It appears it is sponsored by Wrangler Jeans. I have tried several times to get on the website listed in the ad with no success. I'm sure that both Dale Earnhardt Jr. as well as Wrangler would not have let Kmart use their names if it was a scam. What gives with Kmart!
Whats the deal kmart why is it you advertise this contest but there is not anything regarding this on any website is this just a publicity stunt I will look into this further by contacting kmarts main headquarters and complaining I've been searching websites for six days the contest entry dates advertised are june 1 to june 15 if I don't recieve an answer you will lose me as a customer and I will tell others about this scam and not to shop at kmart anymore but to spend their money at wal-mart.

I have been a customer at this kmart for years, every time me and my wife come to New York from philly we always stop at this kmart, unfortunately we will not be coming back to this particular store ever again. We were treated with no respect, and were told to go shop at target or the walmart that is 10minutes away. I was so amazed that this employee actually was speaking to us this was, she was rude, and very angry at what who knows, all i can say is that no customer should be treated in the way we were on friday by JESSICA from the ladys department of the Rosedale store on rockaway blvd.

So I applied to K-mart as an unloader/stockroom associate and my interview was scheduled for noon the following monday. I went in at 11:40 so I could make a good impression of course and they made me wait almost three hours before someone even approached me. I understand that they can do whatever they want being the 0ne hiring but why make me wait almost 3 hours AFTER the scheduled time? So the interview went fine and they said that they'd call me. I wait until that coming friday to call them and ask them about my interview. When I called I got someone who sounded like they had a mouth full of food or something. I just asked for my interviewers name and told them about my interview so they put me on hold. After almost an hour on hold I got a different manager saying that she had just left. Instead of getting pissed that they kept me on hold for an hour to ignore my call I ask if she would be in tomorrow and he said yeah. I called back the next day with almost the same wait time but I got the same person that answered the phone saying she wasn't there and to call back tomorrow. So I called back the next day.. Almost an hour and a half wait and a click. So they hung up on me. So I gave it one more day, I called a half hour after that specific manager arrived at work and asked specifically for her and NOT the other person with the same name. So I am waiting and I finally get another person on the phone with me to hear: "She's not here." So I asked if she was in tomorrow (once again) to be nice and not just hang up on them and he said yeah in a really mean tone. After that I said "Oh thank you very much." and before I even got to "Th-" they hung up on me.
All in all just terrible managers there. I needed work to help pay for my college. I had a handful of great references and in my opinion, with what I was studying, far over qualified for that position. Oh well. I mean I know that getting a job is hard nowadays but why ignore my application and calls but still advertise that they're hiring? I'm not a smart ### or an idiot at the interview, she was actually really nice and we talked extensively afterwards.

The part that gets me if you have a bad experience at one K-MART with a non- professional boss then they will put you in the system as non-hirable for other K-MART stores and thats not far. It's already hard enough out here to find a job in the first place. PLEASE!

The hiring procedure is a little complicated but I'll try to list it. First, they contact you AFTER you pass the online assessment. If you don't pass, you don't get called. Period. Next, you select your interview time. Now this is where it gets tricky. There are lots of people out there applying for jobs. Those time slots are an hour long each and each slot fills after 5 applicants. When the HR coach calls for the interviews he/she tells them to arrive at 11, 12, 1, etc. The problem is that most people don't show up for their interviews. I've had my HR coach call for whomever was waiting and told her no one. Meaning that out of the 5 interviews scheduled for say 11am, not ONE of them showed up! The reverse also happens on occasion and then the HR rep ends up being OVERbooked. Then all the interviews are mashed together to allow for the next group.
There's another aspect to this that many people fail to realize. Availability. If, when you applied, you listed very limited availability, or hours where there is already plenty of coverage, then you're out. Oh they will interview you, sit you down and talk with you, but they already know that you're not getting the job. Also, they look to see what you're doing in school. Chances are the HR rep looked at what you were studying and preempted the problems that will suddenly arise i.e. an exam, long paper, project, etc. HR coaches have the title because they know people! They know that when you are suddenly falling behind and need an extra night's study you're going to call out...and where does that leave them!?
Simmer down and think about it.

This store has some a very very rude and childish employee who I witnessed way too much of her temper tantrum while waiting to put in a layaway. Her name tag read Jessica "Claims Dept." I seriously hope she doesn't come out in public view ever because I for one have 2 children under the age of 7 and would much rather witness their frantic outraged tantrums in the toy aisle rather than be in this employees viewing range as she acts as if she is not normal. She was yelling about how stupid the customers were and also threw merchandise, bags, layaway boxes of electronics, etc. I can honestly say that I have shopped at Kmart for 20 yrs and in 10 minutes this employee showed me so much disrespect that I will not ever enter a Kmart or Sears again. My toddlers heard the curse word beginning with "F" so many times from her that I was outraged. If anyone ever reads this and cares about the image of this store then please please make sure this employee never comes out in the open store unattended and without the muzzle she should be wearing close your ears for the love of God close your ears!

I WAS ASKED TO VOLUNTEER AT THE BAKERSFIELD KMART TO ASSIST WITH INVENTORY PREP. I WAS IN THE BACK REQUESTING BOXES, AND WAS SPOKEN TO VERY RUDELY BY A YOUNG GIRL WORKING IN THE BACK WHERE THEY TURN IN STOLEN OR OPENED ITEMS. I SPOKE WITH OTHER ASSOCIATES FROM MY STORE AND THEY SAID THEY ALSO WERE BEING TALKED ABOUT, SHE HAD MADE STATEMENTS LIKE "THAT, WHY WERE WE THERE, DID THEY THINK WE CANT DO OUR JOB". I THOUGHT THIS WAS VERY RUDE FOR BEING AN ASSOCIATE OF KMART, IF SHE WAS HAVING A BAD DAY SHE HAS NO REASON TO TAKE IT OUT ON VISITORS JUST TRYING TO HELP OUT THE STORE. Manager Eddie Hernandez is a dictator, he is way too demamding and is spiteful when he doesn't get his way with you. He sits in the camera room watching employees so he could find something to write you up for, also hides behind shelves listining in on private conversations. He asks employees to do jobs their not really qualified for or not suppose to do. It seems the majority of the employees including other managers have an issue with him. Working there almost feels like a prison, and when he's not there things are quiet and run smoothly. Please look into this as things seem to be getting worse.

To Whom It May Concern: I have been shopping at both Sears & K-Mart for over 30 yrs. The Merrillville K-Mart Store is somewhere I frequently go, & find the store itself, neat, orderly & with above average products. However, while I realize that all of retail is having it's problems, this store has steadily slid down a steep slope, & I cannot understand how it can continue like it is, & remain in business. I know nothing about running a business, but I know a poorly run one when I see it!
Last evening, I was at the jewelry counter for over 10 min., in plain view of the "Courtesy" counter clerk who chose to completely ignore me. After standing there (don't get me wrong, she was very busy) for said minutes, some older woman with gray hair came up to me & said, "may I help you?" I said, "yes, I need to purchase some jewelry." She asked me to wait, & proceeded to pick up a house phone, make a call & then said, "someone will be right with you." I stood for another 6 min. with no one coming over, & the lady who had made the call had disappeared. In the mean time, I saw that the Courtesy Desk woman had at least 6 (probably more) people in line waiting for her. I finally walked away. I had made $127 in purchases already, & was very tempted to leave without spending even that much, but decided that the items I had were necessities, & the gold earrings for my grandaughters would have to wait. When I went to the register to leave (the only open register, mind you!) I complained about how ridiculous the store had become, & she told me, "well, if people would stop calling-off, we'd have enough employees."
With the economy as it is, I do not understand! I am an R.N. & I know that if we call- off too much, we are fired! What's the deal here? Why are these people allowed to screw up an entire industry? There are plenty of people who are in need of jobs. You better straighten out your H.R. Dept. before you start closing more of your store's doors!

iwent into kmart 10/03/09 around 5:00pm in as I walked in the door the greeter was vacuuming the entrance thats fine try to keep up the appearance but my husband and I was not greeted, my one year old stood and looked at the greeter with a smile because she loves people and the greeter stood their with a cold look on her face . I understand not everyone likes children so I grabbed my childs hand and went into the childrens section and begin to shop but it left me in an uncomfortable mood and I didnt feel like shopping which is what I inticipated doing and why I came. Well I got a box of diapers and stood in line and then I forgot to get wipes so I got out of line and went to get the wipes as I went to get the wipes the door greeter Mary decided to say to my husband and I whose child is this because at the time my daughter was sitting on the floor and had her feet on the shopping cart. We were aware of where she was because we were looking at her.I dont think Mary saying something to us was wrong but its the way she said it and in so many words through exchange of words she was calling my child wild and us unfit parents and she cursed my husband out in front of other customers . I explained to Mary that she as a door greeter can make or break the store and she was to greet everyone no matter who they were that is her job.The only reply she could make in her defense not everyone thought she was mean and that I did not know her. I mention to her that was my second time meeting her and that the first time I met her she shoved a flyer into my hands and said take this I did not get a hi or smile.My husband talk to the manager and explained the situation and they escorted Mary to another department until we left but it was to late she ruined the rest of my evening. Well we drove back by the store as we left the parking lot and she was back at the door as if nothing happened what happened to customer satisfaction or at least courtesy.

ok. my complaint is for you complainers.
first, my two favourite words: "false advertisement". I gotta tell you, hearing these words melt my heart. Mostly because the people that use them have no idea what they mean. For instance, if something is in a sales flyer, and that item is out of stock, it is NOT false advertisement. It's out of stock. Ask for a raincheck and move on.
Second, get over yourselves. If you can't read, don't complain about the receipt survey. It works for everyone else, you're not special. Also, don't think that you're right when you're wrong. You know that saying "the customer's always right"? Well that's not a true statement. From experience, most of the time the customer is dead wrong and I have no qualms about telling them so.
Seriously people. There are global crises happening right now: oil, economy, hunger, poverty, etc. It is a harsh future we're giving to our children and you're going to bicker about the survey that you can't read, or about the "poor service" that you got going to Kmart. Ok, so if you happen to get an associate on an "off" day I can understand why you might be upset. Talk to the manager on duty and resolve it. Bringing it to a site like this and airing it for the world doesn't solve the problem. Trust me.

i was at kmarts yesterday to get a layaway out .it took over 20 minute3s for someone to come to layaway then it was the floor manager and she said we, there was several other customers in line also she[elaine] said we all was liars that we had not been waiting in line .i thought that was very rude there should have been a person in layaway at all times .it is not right for a customer to wait for a long time because we are spending our money there we should be treated with respect. i am sorry but i will not shop at kmarts any more at all. i do not like walmarts but i will go there instead of kmarts. i do not have to be called a liar then spend my money there.

wrong mg on medicine
I have a thyroid problem & went to get my med at the pharmacy. Came home & started taking it. Well started to feel lousy, heart racing, loosing my hair, lost eyebrows & wanted to sleep alot no energy. I told Dr she took blood work & my #'s were off the chart in the 1, 000's took me off all meds. So I have been off meds for a month now still feel lousy w/no thyroid meds but she wanted to take more blood work in a month. I got a call from Kmart pharmacist he was all upset sd he made a mistake gave me 50mg instead of 5mg. He asked me to come down, I felt bad for him since he's a senior & was so upset, I tried to make him feel better. He gave me a $25. gift card. Now when I tell friends they say is that all your life & health is worth $25.? I don't want to sue but think someone from their corp office could have called & offered me more for my pain & suffering & setting me back w/my thyroid problems. Please don't tell me I should have ck'd the med, I have really bad brain fog too w/this. Do you think they are right?

Joy, I should first say that I am currently a pharmacist employed by Kmart, and I am terribly sorry that you had such a problem. Second, it does not surprise me at all to hear of your problem. I will also say that Kmart is THE WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR, from a pharmacists perspective. Their lack of tech support, in their quest for the all mighty dollar, puts THOUSANDS of lives at risk daily! I suggest that you contact Kmart/SEARS (otherwise known as SHC (Sears holding)) and file a complaint. Kmart has a "loosely adhered to" policy regarding the misfill problem that you experienced. The pharmacist was technically REQUIRED to report the problem wihin 72 hrs. NO EXCUSES! Do me a favor & get the facts correct because thyroid medication comes in MICROGRAM (mcg) doses and not MILLIGRAM (mg) doses. I have no doubvt that this happened to you. SHC's pharmacy practices make this kind of error ALL TOO COMMON! My advice to you would be to acquire legal representation and persue the matter to the fullest extent!
No. I dont think that was the right thing for K-mart to do. All they are doing is looking out for the company. I had a similar issue with Dairy Queen years ago. I purchased my son (7yrs old at the time) a blizzard and he found a piece of machinery in the ice cream. (like an attachment) I brought it back to the store and the manager was very apologetic and offered my son a free blizzard or my money back. But because he didnt bite down on it or swollowed it I felt that was ok. But you went through hair loss and other issues which could've taken your life due to taking too much of this medicine because of
K-mart's mistake. You should have taken them to court.

I patiently waited several minutes, i then asked again if she could page again- someone to pick up this very large box and bring it to the register...

I ordered a pair of shoes from kmart.com & when received they did not fit. K-Mart doesn't allow shoe returns to the store so they must be shipped back. I shipped them back using the shipping label & return form provided in the box with the shoes from K-Mart. In the meantime, I ordered another size from the website. The shoes were received, but these did not fit either so again I returned the shoes as I did above. After not receiving credit back for either pair of shoes I contacted K-Mart & was told they did not show either pair of shoes as received for return & were not responsible for lost or misdirected packages. I mailed these packages on two different dates, from two different post offices, using K-Mart's provided return labels plus showing my return address on the package; therefore, the odds of having both of these packages lost in the mail are about like the odds of winning the lottery. I have receipts from the USPS showing they were mailed. My only failure is that I did not request proof of delivery. I am now out a total of $102.41 for two pairs of shoes I don't have plus postage. I charged one pair on my credit card & the other on my debit card. The credit card company has credited me back for one pair of shoes while the transaction is under dispute, but my bank will not do so on my debit card. K-Mart offered no help in trying to resolve this issue. I was a frequent shopper at K-Mart in my city, Sears and Lands End. I was even purchasing my work shirts from Lands End. However, I will not purchase from any of these stores or other affiliates again.

The store is so HOT that I am totally soaking wet within 20 minutes of standing at the registers. Yet, no water is allowed to staff off heat stroke. Eventhough I drink two 12 ounce glasses of water before arriving on the job, I sweat so much I can't even urinate on my break. The management is graceous enough to allow small fans - of which I can barely even feel a breeze. It would appear that K-Mart is reviving the old fashioned sweat shop atmosphere. One day when I was about to pass out from the heat I removed my shoes for about 30 seconds while I wasn't waiting on customers and no one was around - in an attempt to cool down. I was noticed by the customer service manager and reprimanded. I think it is time for K-Mart to start using some common sense instead of political correctness. If you want to make a profit, you should not be doing it on the backs of your sweat ladden employees who are actually trying to do a good job for you. Even most of the customers complain that the store is too HOT! And the rest are just sick and tired of getting all the extra paper at check out when you print out coupons and other unnecessary notices. Take my advise - save a buck (and some trees) by NOT PRINTING these extra things at check out and turn up the air conditioning. Golly - 20 hour jobs are not worth suffering through these kind of conditions.

I was making a layaway payment at the front register a cashere named beth was checking out the gentelmen in front of me he was paying with credit and she pressed cash payment in the register, we waited and waited, she finally had someone come over and help her when the manager left she screwed up again and she had to write out a receipt for the gentelmen. I felt bad for him but what can I do. Then it was my turn I told her I wanted to make a layaway payment and I had a couple other things to purchase. I asked her to make the payment first that way I would know if i had enough money for the rest of my things i had to purchase. Well, My payment was for 63.56 the minimum due, I told her I will pay the minimum payment. She said ok and made the transaction then she turned and looked at me and said thank you. I asked her were is my change I gave you 100 dollar bill she replied "I thought you said all the 100" I said no i did not I told u i wanted to give the minimum. She had me waiting for a manager for about 35 min. When the manager finnaly got there she told me she was unable to reverse the transaction and there was nothing she could do. I walked out of that store pissed off without being able to buy the rest of my products thanks to Beth. I felt so mad that i was glad i walked out on time, I was ready to go off on her so bad. AND STILL THEY HAVE HER IN THE FRONT REGISTER CHECKING OUT - I SHOULD HAVE CALLED CORPORATE ON HER ###.

I am very upset. I have a layaway that I have been paying on every two weeks as per contract. Saturday I paid again and noticed that 12-14-11 the amount of 43.69 per JASMINE IS DUE. iF i DON'T PAY SHE SAID WILL BE PUT BACK AND 15 DOLLARS WILL BE CHARGED TO ME. i SHARED THAT IS NOT ACCURATE I HAVE BEEN PAYING FAITHFULLY AS AGREED. I submitted 4 prescriptions to the drug store in kmart 9154 and told the cashier that I would like to take advantage of their promotion in the sundayad where the customer would get up to 25 dollars per prescription transfers. She said sure and it would take approximately 30 minutes to transfer. Then the parmacist spoke up rudely and stated no it would be an hour. So I said no promblem I would shop around the store until it was ready. After an hour I went back to the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions when the pharmacist told me that he would not fill my sons prescription because may cause death in adolescence, my son had taken this prescription several times and it was prescribed by his pediatrician. I dont understand how a pharmacist can over ride the doctor's order and who is far more trained than he is? The second prescription was from dr. Jewell who has stopped practicing but gave me some refills before she stopped to do me until I got my records transfered to my new doctor who was taking over her patients. Who was he to not fill my needed prescription? The third prescription was vokanase for my pancreas. He said they did not carry that medication? And the last prescription he filled, it was for my cholestrol. By then I was extremely upset and told him I didn't want it, to retransfer it back to walmart! As you can see I am absolutely disgusted with kmart pharmacy and will pass on the complaint to whoever I can! That man had no right to judge any of the doctors orders! He doesnt know the background on our health and had no right to do what he did! All because I wanted to take advantage of the sale paper coupons!

I go to the Beckley, WV Kmart and get all my RX . When I have new RX and they have had the $100 for 4 new or transfer RX I have received $25 if my copay was more if may copay was 10 or 5 I understand that I can not get more than I pay. I find that the Pharmacist are very nice and will inform me if they feel that a drug might not be right for me because of all my problems. They will ask me to check back with my Dr. I am a Kidney patient and not all drugs are Kidney friendly. This is a really a comfort to me because I know they are watching out for my best interest. I never go any where else because I take so many RX . They also more than the Dr. about the RX most of the Pharmacist now have a Dr. of Pharmacy. They really know because I was given a RX that was not Kidney friendly so I had to call my Kidney Dr. the other Dr. wanted me to take more than I could take. Remember always be friendly to all the people who have to work with the public. You are not the only person they are waiting on at that time. Karen
I agree. I never have known Kmart to give $25 transfer cards before. Maybe $5.00 cards or $10.00. Pharmacy hopper are a pain in the neck. I have all my RX with Kmart and have had nothing but good remarks about it's staff. They carry the RX needed by it regular customers, if you had a good relationship with Walmart you should of stayed there. Do not think they would of paid you $50.00 to come back. Like the man said use your brain, you must of been sitting on yours.
That's what you get for being a pharmacy hopper. If they don't have it in stock, they don't have it in stock. Nothing you say or do at that point will make in magically appear. If there were drug interactions and the pharmacist needed to contact the doctor, he/she could not because like you said - he/she is no longer practicing. Use your brain

I worked back in 2000 for a few long weeks. At some point, they decided they had to lay-off a few new people they "over-hired". I later tried (And again thisyear) to get a job at searsholdings. And was told I was ineligible for rehire because I was terminated. I know theres a contract we all sign when working for an "at will" employer, but there is also normally a reason for termination. There isnt one! Every 888 or 800 number I call they say they have no idea why its on there. Wha tthe heck! Ive been dealing w/ these #s for mnths and they all point the finger @each other and say its the other persons decision to reverse the entry. This is not fair. I did nothing wrong, I was laid off... Not terminated. Wtf is wrong w/ kmart? Boycott kmart!

At-Will Employment is merely another agreement between Big Government, Corporations and States. I doubt the government will change anytime soon. The best thing we can attempt to do is become employed by contract with an employer. That is the only way to protect your interests. A Breach of Contract is a potential lawsuit for a company and it will become increasingly difficult to become a contracted employee. Fired/Terminated/Layed off. The company I previously worked for violated their own SOPs but they are untouchable because of being an "at-will" employer. My co-worker was dragged along for over 6 weeks and then terminated without reason. Policy only allowed for 4 weeks of administrative leave. Too bad us employees can't merely terminate corporate-state contracts.
