Kroger Kroger's VIP Card System is a Nightmare: My Frustrating Experience at Fry's Store in Sierra Vista, Arizona

I gotta say, I've been having some major issues with Kroger lately. I've been trying to use my VIP card for digital coupons at the Fry's store in Sierra Vista, Arizona for over two months now, and it's been a complete nightmare. I've wasted so much time trying to get this problem solved, but it seems like nobody at Kroger really cares.

I've gone to the customer service desk at the store, and I've filed several online complaints through my account, but nothing seems to be working. On October 27, 2022, I finally got a response from Abigail at Kroger, who apologized for the problems and said she added $15 to my account (Reference #***). But when I checked my account, the money wasn't there. I tried emailing her back, but she never responded. So I called the number she gave me (***377), and the person who answered said they had fixed the problem with my digital coupons. But when I went to the store, the coupons still weren't showing up at checkout.

To make matters worse, there's a wrong VIP card number in my online account that I can't edit. I've told Abigail and Malique (who responded to my new complaint, Reference #***) about this, but they both just told me to edit the number myself. But every time I try, I get an error message saying my last name and correct VIP account number don't match.

Honestly, this whole experience has been a total mess. It's clear that the Kroger system is dysfunctional, and I'm seriously considering switching to Safeway. It's a shame, because I used to really like shopping at Kroger, but this has just been too much.

Kroger Mixed Experience at Kroger: Freshness Issues and Food Poisoning Concerns

I have been shopping at Kroger for quite some time now, and I have to say that my experience has been a mixed bag. While there are times when I have found fresh and delicious food, there have also been instances where the food has been less than fresh. For instance, I once bought stale bread, eggs that made me sick, and spoiled milk that I had just purchased. I also found rotten sweet potatoes and a dead bee in strawberries. To make matters worse, I once came across moldy jello and egg rolls that gave me food poisoning.

One time, I saw white mold on beef jerky that I decided not to purchase and gave it to one of the workers there because it looked gross. I also remember years ago finding a piece of glass in my food that I purchased from the area where they sell lunch meat, cooked chicken, and ready-made food. I bit into it and felt something hard, and it turned out to be a chunk of glass from their containers. It's kind of laughable that their commercials say "fresher than fresh" when many times that's just not the case. In fact, sometimes the food I buy at Kroger either ends up returned or in my trash.

I returned the spoiled milk once, but most of the time, I don't feel like the hassle, and I just toss it in the trash. I actually got sick from their food not knowing it was bad, like their eggs once made me very sick, and their frozen egg rolls years later made me very sick. I get all my flu shots and vaccines, and I'm pretty sure Kroger eggs made us sick because only people that got sick were the ones who ate the boiled eggs. I remember that Easter I was laying on the bathroom floor, pooing and puking my guts out! I never been so sick in my life after eating Kroger eggs. My guest that ate the boiled eggs called and said they also became sick, and the ones that didn't eat boiled eggs were fine. That's why I'm pretty sure it was their eggs.

Also, I'm the type that doesn't keep anything past the expiration date. It's a gamble. Sometimes their food is okay, and sometimes it's not. I had a friend tell me she and her grandson got sick after eating Kroger potatoes. In 2021, I felt like I was going to die after eating their egg rolls, but fortunately, I was fine the next day. All in all, while Kroger has some good deals and a wide variety of products, I would caution shoppers to be careful and check the freshness of the food before purchasing.

Kroger Poor Customer Service and Return Policy at Kroger: My Experience with a Bad Crab

I recently went to my local Kroger on Nasa Rd. 1 and Bay Area Blvd to buy a dungeness crab. When I got in my car and arrived home, I noticed a very unpleasant odor. I immediately realized that it was coming from the crab I had purchased from Kroger. I opened the bag and the smell hit me like a ton of bricks! I was so disappointed because that was supposed to be my dinner, but I had to eat something else instead.

The next day, I decided to return the crab to the Kroger location that was closer to my home, which is El Camino Real and Bay Area Blvd. When I got there, I spoke to the manager, Thomas. He told me that I needed a receipt, but unfortunately, I didn't have it with me. I explained to him that Kroger's policy states that if an item is $10 or less and there is no receipt, it can be returned for cash. However, if it's over $10, it can only be returned for store credit. I even showed him the policy on my phone, but he still refused to accept the return and placed the item on a bench before walking away and telling me to show him a receipt.

I was frustrated and decided to drive back to the original store. When I got there, I spoke to Annette in customer service. She was very professional and didn't hesitate to give me a gift card worth $25. I shared with her what had happened and she knew the policy that I was referring to. She also stated that it didn't matter which store I returned the item to.

I went back to the other store and spoke to Thomas again. I showed him the policy once more, but he still didn't seem to understand it. He even made a comment about crackheads in the neighborhood returning items all the time. I asked him if he was profiling me, but he denied it. I showed him my credentials to put him at ease and let him know that I could afford a $25 crab. He then offered me a gift card, but I declined because I just wanted to be reimbursed for what I had spent.

This experience made me realize that I prefer shopping at HEB over Kroger. The atmosphere is just different and I feel more comfortable there. I used to shop at Walmart, but I switched to Target for the same reason. Overall, I hope that Kroger can improve their policies and customer service in the future.

Kroger Kroger's New Self-Service System Discriminates Against Technologically Illiterate and Elderly Customers

Kroger used to be my go-to grocery store, but recently they implemented a new self-service system that I am not a fan of. It not only takes away jobs from hardworking people, but it also discriminates against those who may not be technologically literate or have literacy issues. It's not fair that after a long day at work, I have to scan and bag all of my groceries myself.

The prices of items have also increased tremendously, and it seems like the only items available are Kroger brand. I miss the human interaction with the staff at the register who would greet me and make me feel appreciated for spending my hard-earned money.

As an elderly person with a handicap, I prefer to bag my non-refrigerated items separately from my refrigerated items. However, with the self-service system, all of my groceries pile up and squash against each other, causing my expensive and hard-to-find eggs to break and my bread to be squished. This causes me a lot of stress and exacerbates my physical and mental issues tremendously.

I believe that Kroger's new system is a representation of America going into the gutter. It's not fair that we are not given a choice and are forced to use this system. I will continue to voice my complaints at every opportunity I get because this is not the America that I know and love. Kroger may think that this system works for their greed, but it's not fair or right.

Kroger Kroger's Prices Have Increased Significantly Compared to Other Grocery Stores

I recently visited Kroger and was disappointed to find that their prices have increased significantly compared to other grocery stores in the area. I have been a loyal customer for years, but I refuse to support a store that is not conscious of the struggles that many Americans are facing. For example, I purchased a loaf of bread that I have been buying for years and was shocked to find that it was priced at $4.29, compared to the same brand at Food Lion for $3.29. Another item that I regularly purchase has increased by a whole dollar, now priced at $6.99.

I spent $60 on less than 10 items at Kroger, while at Food Lion I purchased double the amount of groceries for $120, but with my FL card, my balance was brought down to $87. It is clear that Food Lion is making an effort to keep their prices affordable for average Americans, while Kroger is not. As a result, I will continue to patron Food Lion.

To make matters worse, when I reviewed my receipt after paying at Kroger, I noticed that none of the items I had purchased as a BOGO were discounted. If I had not been careful, I would have purchased extra items thinking I was getting them at BOGO prices, but instead, I would have been charged full price. This is unacceptable, and I should not have to watch the cashiers to ensure that my items are being discounted correctly.

Additionally, the prices of coffee at Kroger were insane, with Food Lion offering much better pricing by almost $2.00 a box. It is clear that Kroger needs to make an effort to keep their prices consistent and affordable for their customers, especially those who are struggling financially.

As a mother of two teenage boys who eat me out of house and home, I cannot afford to shop at Kroger with their current prices. It is disappointing that a larger chain like Kroger is not making an effort to keep their prices affordable for their customers. I hope that they will take note of the struggles that many Americans are facing and make an effort to keep their prices consistent and affordable in the future.

Kroger Disappointing Experience with Kroger Boost and InstaCart: Stolen Order and Delayed Refund

I recently decided to give Kroger Boost a try since my Shipt subscription was expiring. I was told that with Boost, I would get the same prices as shopping in-store. My first order was for $190 and I was contacted about four times regarding substitutions. However, the communication wasn't direct from the shopper like it was with Shipt. Despite this, I didn't mind and was told that they were going to check out. Shortly after, I received a notification saying that my order was on the way. I live less than five minutes away from the store, but because I'm disabled, I rely on delivery.

I waited for my order, but after about 15 minutes, I checked the status and it said that it had been delivered. I checked to see if it had been left at the garage door, but there was nothing there. When I went back to Kroger.com, I saw that my order had been cancelled, but my bill was $211.00. I checked the item list and noticed that there were things that I had not ordered added to it.

I immediately contacted Kroger through their online chat. The representative contacted InstaCart, who told her that the shopper had a flat tire. I informed her that the shopper had added items that I didn't order, so we agreed that he had stolen my order. However, I was still charged $211.00 and was told that it would take 5 to 7 days to be refunded.

As a disabled person on a fixed income, I was left wondering what I was supposed to do for food now. Luckily, I was able to borrow some money and buy groceries. However, after 7 days, I still hadn't been credited back. It took three more phone calls to Kroger and filing a claim with my bank before I finally received my refund. It took 12 days in total for the money to be refunded back to my bank account.

Needless to say, I cancelled my Boost trial the same day I used it. I even have a screenshot saying that the representative cancelled it, just in case I'm charged. I explained to the financial department at Kroger that I signed up for grocery delivery with them, not InstaCart. Therefore, I feel that they should have immediately returned my money and then waited for reimbursement from InstaCart. I feel like they don't care about their customers and if I hadn't been able to borrow some money, I would have been without food for 12 days.

I know that this is happening a lot because after I told some people what happened, one person said that there are many times when they have missing items that they get charged for. Just tonight, a friend called to say that their groceries were stolen by InstaCart too. I'm left wondering why Kroger is still using InstaCart.

Overall, I was disappointed with my experience with Kroger Boost and InstaCart. I hope that they can improve their services and take better care of their customers in the future.

Kroger Insufficient cashier employees at checkout

Dear Sir/Madam:

The purpose of this email is to inform you of the lack of customer service provided by your store located at 3125 John R Rd., Troy, MI 48083. My observation reveals the customer clientele is predominantly Indian and Latino with few whites and blacks. Often there are long lines waiting for the checkout via cashier (not self-serve).

However yesterday, (4 days before Father's Day) the line consisted of 25 to 30 people waiting to be checked out with one (1) cashier in the entire store. Wait time was somewhere around 30 minutes. I was one of them. The manager said there were only two (2) people working as cashiers and one (1) was on break.

Chatting with some of the inline customers while waiting, it was learned that this happens often at the Troy store. Some believed it was because the clientele is mostly minorities.

Self-checkouts allow customers to work for Kroger "free-of-charge," and is not something I wish to do. It is also my understanding that if employees are paid adequately, hiring is not difficult to achieve.

At a time when your prices are not "low, low, low," most of us do not wish to "wait, wait, wait."

Thank you for listening to someone who has shopped at Kroger for many years.

Desired outcome: Kroger hires more cashiers to checkout its customers.

Just read your new policy how one can save money w/digital coupons. I reject such policy as requiring seniors and all people to have a cell phone! You must enjoy punishing seniors and everyone to require cell phone usage! Pray to God that your customers will see this socialist policy and void your store chain. I use to enjoy shopping your food store; but now I will add other chains to shop at.

Kroger Pharmacy

On Friday May 19th a prescription was called into Kroger pharmacy Clarksville. The prescription was called in at 1:00 p.m. per my doctor's office. It was for antibiotics prescribed for 3 days before my surgery on Monday May 22nd. I went to pick it up at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. I waited in line for 1 hour and 20 minutes, just to be told that it has not been filled. I informed The pharmacy staff that I had to have it due to my surgery being on Monday. The medication was to start on Friday evening through Monday morning. I was told to take a seat and waited another 45 minutes for them to fill the prescription. After being released from the hospital on Tuesday May 23rd the hospital phoned in more antibiotic medication to start that evening. They have had that prescription in their possession for 6 hours. I have tried to call ahead to see if it is ready just to have the phone ring for 10 to 20 minutes at a time with no answer. It has become almost impossible to receive medications from this pharmacy.

Kroger Manager...4440 East Main Street.. Mesa, Az

04/29/2023...11:33. PM

I went into the Fry's on Main, and Greenfield Rd In Mesa... AZ... I went down the liquor isle to purchase a bottle of whiskey... Upon walking down that particular isle there is a live camera filming you, as you walk up the isle... I get it people steal... I did not see the 750 ml bottle I usually buy... I was in that isle give, or take 45 sec.. To a min... Literally... I decided to go to a different location... Upon getting into my car, as my friend drove me... Some aggressive man was right behind me demanding I open my bag, which is my purse... I was startled, as he looked very.. Irate... He proceeded to scream at me that he is calling the cops.. This is after I opened my purse, and there was no merchandise from fry's in my purse... He was screaming I am never to go back to that store, and he was taking pictures of the back of my car... Threatening to call the police... I was shocked, humiliated, and some what scared

When I got home I called, and asked to speak to the manager on duty, and by golly it was the same man... Lol... Screaming into the phone don't come back, and then he hung up on me

Now I understand people have bad days, but to wrongly accuse a customer, or person of stealing is one thing, but when you show proof there was nothing in your bag... He should of apologized... I am retaining an attorney he should be fired... Being from new york... My response was [censored] you!... Lol...

Desired outcome: Have Manager get Fired, or go to a Psychiatrist ASAP.....He obviously was having a Melt downI understand Kroger hires disabled people if this is the case......No..Can..Do....After Covid the World changed forever!!!!.....

Kroger Little to no kroger brand items

Dear Kroger,

I am a retired teacher and my husband is a retired landlord. We live in Jackson, OH. I have been a loyal Kroger customer since 1986. However, I am seriously considering doing my grocery shopping at Save A Lot or Walmart now. Why? Because you have raised your prices so high. Also, there is little to no Kroger items left in the Jackson store. I have noticed this for over a year. And every week it gets worse. Examples: Today I went over to where the canned mushrooms are. NO Kroger mushrooms. The cheapest can is $3.99! So I didn't buy any. Cereal: I love Kroger brand cereal. Now there is only 3 or Kroger cereals left. Laundry detergent: I love Purex. The bottle that was on sale was all gone. I REFUSE to buy name brand items. I can't afford them. Carrots: I feed carrots to my neighbor's horses and mules. They were always $2.00 for a 2 pound bag. Now they are $2.50! Vitamins: I take cranberry tablets for urinary infection prevention. You raised the price to $14.99! Shampoo: I can't find ANY Kroger brand shampoo. Pasta: It was always $1.00 for Kroger Brand. Now it is $1.33! Bread: I can't find any Kroger brand bread. Colored pencils: No more Kroger brand. I could go on and on. How do you afford groceries? How do expect the general public to afford them? Shame on you.

Desired outcome: 1. Bring back all Kroger brand items.2. Lower your prices.

Kroger Injury due to negligence maintaining parking lot pavement

On January 19th 2023, roughly 6:00 p.m., while exiting the store on Sashabaw Rd in Clarkston MI, my mini shopping cart's front wheels caught the uneven pavement abutting the ramp and caused the shopping cart to ricochet back and forth (tipping, dumping items on lower rack of cart) and painfully hitting me in my shins. I did that day contact the store manager about this matter, but I am seeking compensation for this injury as I have an unsightly noticeable scar on my right shin that has not faded. This area was bumped up until just recently. The pavement has been patched since then. I am contacting you before consulting with my attorney. Thank you.

Desired outcome: Monetary compensation for my injury, pain and suffering.

Kroger Rain checks when items are not available

I just Went to the Fries location at 1:55 West Combs road, cashier Debbie. Phone number [protected]. Many items that I wanted to get there were on the current weekly list where unavailable. Strawberries, chicken, cottage cheese, Block cheese, buns, Bread and other vegetables and fruits. The list is too long to give to you of what was unavailable for me to purchase. I went to the customer service counter because the cashier no longer is in charge of rain checks. I wanted multiple rain checks for items that were on your weekly sale list and the manager there Only gave me one rain check. She said I was not eligible nor allowed to receive more than 1 rain check per customer complaint. They stopped this service over a year ago. This is absolutely absurd for this location because they are constantly out of stock on main items that they offer for the weekly sales list. As a fry, kroger Customer for majority of my adult life I will no longer shop this location and look elsewhere for groceries. This is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated

Desired outcome: I would like to see a new general manager in that location as well as a new meet manager to get the same great quality I have seen at other locations. This location has the worst quality meat I have ever seen.
