I opened a macys credit card with promises that I would get 15% off at the register and 10% off my bill (which I never saw). Ok whatever, I let it go. I've had credit cards for almost 5 years and NEVER had a late payment except for now with macys changing the due date on me and sending me the statement AFTER the fact and slaming me with late fees. I dont have time to call and complain so I just paid it - whatever.

I've only had this card for about 6 months and about 2 months ago they sent me a letter telling me that they were lowering my credit limit, why you ask? get ready... their sole reason was... I only made minumum payments. I know what you are thinking... what on earth?!?! are these people insane!?! the answer is YES! I've actually paid more than the minimum payment but not according to them. About a month after that, they sent me another letter telling me they CLOSED my account for the same reason. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY!? I dont appreciate the fact they are treating me like a delinquent customer and they are ruining my credit because I didnt pay them more than I did.

Moral of the story? STAY AWAY FROM MACYS AT ALL COSTS! Tell everyone you know to stay away from macy's. You will regret the day you ever signed up.. I know I sure do!

False Claims – Credit Dunning for not our account
MCCS - Macy's Credit and Customer Service
Macy's & Bloomingdales [credit accounts factored to Citicard] - They fail to take appropriate actions in verifying credit card application data so that you can have them call you claiming that you owe them - Macy's, Bloomingdale's - money on a card which may be in $1000s but it is not your card - just your phone number for an account that was opened in a totally different state from your number/home - They are terrible - absolute failure to verify data! CALL HERE TO COMPLAIN!

I have received numerous calls over the past months all calling to dun my wife on large outstanding amounts on either her Macy's or Bloomingdale's cards. Yet, the address of record for the cards MCCS is calling about is in Rhode Island and our telephone number clearly is not. In each case, since my wife has a Bloomingdale's or Macy's account, not the one in question, we have wasted nearly hours with Indian and Filipino call center employees attempting to explain that we are not who they want. Every time they have claimed they will remove our number from their data base but we keep getting calls.

I have his card for 3 years now, my credit limit is at 9000 for visa and has not changed... all late fees that i have acquired was brushed off by a simple phone call. All you have to do is call and say I never got the bill or I sent it. The customer service is great and never had a problem. Only major issue was a fraud charge for $2000.00 at Best Buy. Took 6 months to figure it was a fraud, overall they took care of it

I have always paid my bill on time, except for this month, when my tax refund did not arrive on the date provided by the IRS (which created a snowball, because I had appropriated my ever-decreasing funds with the original date in mind). Nevertheless, the very morning I received my refund, I paid the amount due to Macy's via www.mycheckfree.com.

My payment was submitted a grand total of eight days late. Now, in that eight day span, and even after, I received about 25 calls from Macy's/Bloomingdale's Credit Services, which I found to be bordering on harrassment. I suppose it wouldn't have been so annoying, had their staff not been calling from a call center that was obviously overseas (despite the Ohio area code), and had they not called at inappropriate hours, such as 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning.

Everyone who answered, in the multiple times I called back, had what I assume to be an Indian accent, and could not hear me well. I have nothing against foreign companies, but the fact of the matter is that I should not be discussing my personal credit information with someone on the other side of the globe, who can't even understand me, nor should I have to literally scream to be heard. This nameless, faceless SUPPOSED customer service is for the birds, and I have about had it with Macy's and every other similar organization.

Macy's never sent us a statement but merrily went along charging us 19.9% plus a whopping $38.00 monthly late fee which works out to exactly 2/3 the cost of a clothing item my wife purchased 3 months ago! $212.00 for a $60 purchase! I have complaints already filed with Texas and Ohio and they've pissed off the wrong consumer with their mob like mentality! jncinn@aol.com

Is there a class action law suit against Macy's? Almost everything on this site has happened to me too. I have gone triple rounds with Macy's creditors calling me. Also they charged me almost $100 in late fees for an account that was paid off and supposedly closed. I finally wrote to their corporate offices and have filed a complaint. I am seeking an attorney -- Is anyone already doing this already? Let me know-- I am totally in!

I've had these problems too- I signed up for one account and they multiply like bunnies! It has to be illegal to open an account in someone's name without express permission, but they've done it to me- multiple times. They say they're "upgrading, " but they change the account number. So when I'd try to pay a bill, they'd credit the wrong account and charge me late fees on the appropriate account. Then, I called to pay off the card and close it, and they told me I had no balance. I even asked them to look for other accounts in my name, knowing their game. They said I didn't owe them money, but less than 1 month later it showed up on my credit report as two months overdue. I paid it off, but they never lifted the "actively overdue" credit report. It took a lot of swearing, berating, and threatening legal action (almost 3 hours worth) to get to a competent person on the phone to fix it and close all accounts. A week or so later, I got a new credit card with a different account number in the mail. It was so ridiculous, I began to wonder if someone is pulling a prank on me.

Unfortunally, I also felled in the deceptive advertise of Macy's I bought a very expensive item in the jewelry department. my husband did not agree with such purchase, I went back to the store a week later and they denied the return saying that because I have made too many? returns on the same month this particular piece would not be taken back. I spoke to every supervisor, the store manager, (Felicia) and very unprofessional told me that I was going to be reported to CB, The item is still in its original box tags attached. Because I did not wanted to have my credit ruin I send some payments once my savings were wiped out I stared to get in real trouble. How could Macy's claim to be a reputable store is they ripped customers, harass me calling 24/7 demanding money. My account limit was only $500 but to get me into debt approved the stupid purchase. (my daughter graduation gift ) What is worse is that my income is SSA because of my emotional and physical health. Please if you have a thought about this I would appreciate your response. I do not have anything other that my SSA income. sales personnel is so relentless in making you to make a purchase. that day there were 3 girls practically brainwashing me to buy it. I need help. my credit is ruined. and Macy's is getting away ripping off another customer. I have been a loyal customer for the past 20 years never missing a payment in full when i was working, but now things are different because of my mental and emotional health.
please share your comment. From the bottom of my heart I will appreciated. Nina

Recently I received a bill with a late charge of $30. My check was mailed on time, but for some unanswered reason by Macy's customer service, it was received late. I said either cancel the late charge or cancel the card. Customer service said they'll cancel the card. I pay my bills every month, sometimes late like any other busy body...I'm not perfect, but I know that this one was paid on time. Macy's need customers. The internet is a great influence. I don't need Macy's. There are a glut of department stores selling the same Chinese-made garbage out there.

I am troubled by your comments Pittsburgh, PA regarding your mailed in payment. You state in your epistle that you allowed enough time (how do you define on time ) for us to process your payment... how much time did you allow for statement delivery. I inform customers that you should allow 7-10 business days.. Why is it Macy's fault... Do me a favor and take responsibility for your actions. . Regarding late fees everything is spelled out in the disclosure and it's on the back of the billing statement as well . Your comments regarding the merchandise are erroneous too.. and we have exclusive brands as well... Your statement does not seem credible.

Macy's is a greedy and unethical company. I have never paid a bill late. I pay every credit card in full every month and do not pay interest charges. In November, I was in a bad accident . Coincidentally, Macy's sent no bill that month, or I would have been alerted that there was a payment due. I acknowledge that whether billed or not, it is the consumer's responsibility to pay debt owed.
My complaint is the 1st day of a missed payment, Macy's reports negatively to the credit bureau without giving a hard working individual a chance to rectify what should have been considered extenuating circumstances. (in my case, being injured and hospitalized)
Like a writer above, I received the late notice AFTER the they had already sent negative reports to all three credit bureaus. Hmm..
My credit score from this single incident of ONE late payment (although paid in full on the 33rd day or 3 days after it was due) went from good to weak - dropping 86 points. ( I have a credit monitoring service and this was the Macy's was the only negative report on it!)
After a lengthy conversation, they told me that would turn in over to their resolution department and they I would get a report. (It's been three months - and no communication from them whatsoever.) I asked for a direct phone number to resolution and was told they didn't have one.,
I strongly suggest that you encourage your friends and family to boycott Macy's because of their unscrupulous practices (not mailing out bills, trying to collect extra fees, and having no mercy with credit reporting practices). The only way for this evil to persist is for good men and women to do nothing. Cancel your card's and do not step foot in their door of the monster called Macy's. There are plenty of other places to shop.

A Macys empolee approached me with the discount if I applied for the card, I said no I don't want the interest rates. She actually told me to apply that day at the register and I could close it the next day or next week. The employee lied and told me there were no interest rates, no fees for signing up, etc. I was very thorough in asking her these questions. A month later I get a bill saying congratulations on your new card, which I never received, and in same letter declining my application for an American Express card. The employee signed me up for an Amex card without my knowledge. a $50 pair of jeans is now up to a few hundred dollars in interest rates as I try to get to the bottom of the matter, wasting my time dealing with rude and aggressive phone reps, harassing calls, etc. I googled Macys credit card scam and it seems Macys employees are encouraged to do this to boost sales. Im up for a class action suit if there is one!

PS- also failed to mention that upon reading the fine print when signing up, its on a tiny little box where you sign your name, when questioned what I was reading because I could barely see it, the employee lied. I was depending on the employees honesty in informing me of the terms. A Macy's employee is a representative of that company, and as such should not give out false information. When I told a few friends about what happened, each had a similar Macy's credit card scam story. Macy's is in the business of retail, and also making money off of interest rates scam. Employees (from a story I read, after the fact) a pressured to do this, or they get scheduled lousy hours. Do the research, the information is out there.

I've had Macy's horrible credit card three times in the last 15 years and they screwed me over each time. The employees are miserable and the products are mostly cheap Asian junk. What few quality items they have can be found on Amazon for much less. The store's credit practices are abusive and probably illegal. It's a mystery why anyone would work for Macy's--you'd be better-paid and -treated working as a cashier at Costco or Starbuck's or even delivering pizzas. Be wise and close your Macy's account or better don't open one in the first place. Take it from someone who made the same dumb mistake three times.

Thank goodness I have only made small purchases with my Macy's card. Twice in the past year I NEVER received my e-mailed statement. The interest penalty is STAGERING. If and when I use this credit again I will watch it like a hawk. I don't know if it's uncaring employees or if they seek to rip us off.

Completely unethical practice - Macy's also lured me in to getting a credit card for the discount when I made a $100 purchase. Then I never received the card or any statements in the mail. I completely forgot about the card until 2 months later, when I got a notice that my credit score (previously 830) dropped to 703. Why? Because of 2 delinquent payments for my stupid Macy's purchase! They claim they didn't have the right address, but they did, because I actually returned the item (it was defective) and they replaced it by mail to my home!

Now my credit went from exceptional to good - and the customer service reps were incredibly rude and unhelpful. I will NEVER shop there again, nor will I allow anyone of my friends or family to do so.

I will never shop at Macy's again. They sell 3rd party merchandise and if you want to return an item purchased on line they make it impossible.

I just had a harrowing experience at Macy's in Santa Rosa at the Coddington Mall. They had trouble finding the order and told me they could do nothing about it. I had the order receipt. They should have called a manager to help with the situation.

Macy's has gone so far down hill that it is now a joke! I will shred my card and never step in a Macy's again!

Thank you,

Anne C
