Maytag maytag washer smell

I purchased a Maytag Bravos XL washing machine model # MVWB950YW from Manuel Joseph Appliance on 3/31/2012 for $999.00 plus tax and delivery. Early this year (2017) we had an unmistakable sewer order coming from the washing machine. The washer is left open when not in use and wiped down at least once a week AND per the directions every 30 days is cycled through the cleaning cycle with Affresh. After running a cleaning cycle with clear vinegar and another with baking soda/water mix, I went to the internet for help.

These are just a few internet connections on how to fix the smell. When I called Maytag about a possible recall, they told me to call a repair person. I don't think I should have to call a repair person once every 6 months or year because of a design flaw. The water sits in the bottom and doesn't drain completely.
Please help us out. I've contacted Manual Joseph and Maytag directly to deal with this problem.

Maytag maytag bravos xl washer

I bought this machine about 4 years ago and because I do not believe in filing unsubstantiated complaints I have waited until now and I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in this product and have tried all of the recommendations that exist! This machine is built to wash clothes without a reasonable amount of water and causes the following issues: washer imbalances on spin cycles causing this cycle to repeat itself numerous times and the machine to be jumping around uncontrollably; premature wearing out clothes and ruining numerous clothing items even when washing same types of fabrics only in the same wash and having cost us well over $800 in ruined items; low quantity of water and needing to use laudry bags makes this machine inefficient in washing clothes properly often causing me to wash items a second time. I am also very disappointed that I have trusted the Maytag name for this purchase and obviously because of these issues you have made many changes to this product! I do not have money to purchase a new one otherwise it would have done a long time ago! Intrust that you will have a reasonable solution for me and please do not refer to any efficiency suggestions as I have tried them all!

Bravo washers are a high efficiency "HE, " top-loading form of washing machine; as such, it uses substantially less water. It is more of a 'showering' action in place of a 'bathing' form of clothes cleaning. Many people really prefer this over the more traditional form of washers. Current forms of Maytag Bravo washers have a 'Power Wash' feature which helps clean by giving the user additional heat, water and motion.

Nothing in your complaint really suggests anything necessarily wrong with the unit, except for the amount of 'jumping around uncontrollably.' When you purchased the units four years ago, from whom were they purchased and did you elect to purchase additional warranty coverage?

i bought all new maytag 8years ago washer dryer dish washer stove microwave washer was repared 1 time then scraped the oven element burnt out replaced gasket came out of door dish washer never cleaned dishes well have to hand wash first even coffe cups the microwave dosent work just able to use the light and the fan now the dryer is messing up iam so disapointed in maytag products i had planed for these products to last 20years my family has bought less expensive products sill using them i never plan to buy a nother maytag .

Interesting complaint. Probably the longest single sentence, without any punctuation except for a single period at the end. That aside, I'm pretty heavily involved within the industry. It's unfortunate, but the days of having appliances commonly lasting 20 years has passed. It's more common to see a possible 10 years, but that's on average, so there's just as many that don't make it even that long.

I bought this product 10/9/2017, from Home depot
Product delivered 10/13/2017 in late afternoon. Our family left to go out of town directly after delivery. When we got back Sunday evening 10/15/17 I started up a load of wash. Water came from the machine and onto the floor. I went to home depot the next day at 8 am. to complain. They said I needed to call Maytag. The home depot manager, Jeanette, called Maytag and scheduled a service appointment for the next day, 10/17/2017. When the repair man arrived he checked things out and found nothing leaking. He did level the washer as it shook during agitation and spin cycle. I used the machine and watched the loads as he told me to do. Four days later I had water on the floor. I decided to start watching the machine more closely. Nothing happened again until the next week when again water on the floor. Both were the deep fill water and power wash or whites cycle. I had no problems with any of the other cycles. On Monday October 29, 2017 I called Maytag again to complain and told the gal that the problem with the water is hit or miss. It doesn't happen every time but this is a new machine and why is it doing this? The same repairman came out. He decided that the mother board?or control Panel needs to be replaced and he ordered it. Well, my husband and I feel that if it needs that, then why are we not just getting a new machine? I called Maytag and was told this was not their policy. They will only repair the machine. This machine was defective from day 1 and we feel that this should not be our problem to deal with. I have contacted Home depot and am waiting to hear from them at this time. We are very disappointed that no one seems to care how we feel. I haven't even made the first payment on this washer. I don't know if your customer service or repair department keeps records or not. Obviously I don't tape phone conversations. The repair man is Richard from Countryside appliance. [protected]. Jeanette is the manager at Home depot I talked to and her number is [protected] ext339. Maytag maytag dishwasher model mdb7749awm1

I bought a Maytag Dishwasher model mdb7749awm1 about 6 years ago. Since then, I changed the front panel twice. Last time I changed it was in July 2016. Now it is broken again. The part number I need to change is: W10811151 . So in the past 6 years, three of them already broken. Why this is happening? Is there a design flaw for this model? Every time I have to spend more than $120 for it. This really shouldn't happen

I'm extremely involved within the industry. This model is not one you'd normally consider problematic. You might want to check the retailer you purchased it through and see if there's additional warranty coverage that's been purchased with the unit.

Maytag refrigerator model mft2976aem01 serial k32807495

On October 17, 2017 my wife discovered a wet basement. At the end of September we had been in the basement and it was dry. The fridge stopped making ice and we called Maytag who sent Via(subcontractor) to our home.
They were at our home Oct. 4th and 11th. Each time they moved the fridge out from the wall. On the 17th after discovering the problem we suspected that the fridge was the problem. Via pulled the fridge from the wall again and found a pinhole in the cheap plastic tubing used for water to the ice maker. Coinicidence? We think not. Now we have warped floors, mold, walls to be removed, carpet ruined, etc. Lucky we have Chubb insurance. We suspect they may be getting in touch with you.
Via has told us that they are not responsible. Via has pictures and video

10/23/17 Service tech ordered all the following parts Gearcase, Speed Starter ASM, Belt, CAM / pulley kit, control board, water valve. F2E1, F5E3, F7E1 oil seal leaking out of gear case
10/27/2017 no show - service called in sick
10/30/2017 2 service people arrived, on time to install all parts above. Did not test or run the washer. I had left half way through the repairs (meeting I could not move, again) My husband took time off work to be there while they worked on the washer.
Tried to begin on the MANY loads of laundry now piled up and the machine would not fill, or agitate.
Called Whirlpool again, was on hold over a hour, again.
10/31 another day off work - service is scheduled 8AM

Hi Lynda. No question it's frustrating when these things don't work correctly. I've got a great deal of background within the industry and thought I might help.

First, this really is a decent model of washing machine. However it's important to understand even Maytag will not tell you this unit is traditional in the real sense of the word; it's what is now considered a crossover washer.

Most manufactures will require as many as three(3) tries at repairing a unit before they even remotely consider exchanging it. You'll find Home Depot will generally be of help if this takes place. Keep receipts for everything.

Maytag magic chef gas range

I have a Magic Chef gas range. Yesterday afternoon I phoned customer service just to ask what the error code "F-7" meant. It was not listed in the book that came with my oven. After waiting more than 20 minutes the woman I spoke with said she had to switch me to the Magic Chef number. Although she was polite I asked if she couldn't get me this information and she said she could not. She gave me a direct number and then forwarded my call. In all, I was on the phone for 1 hour and 15 minutes. I never did speak to anyone in the Magic Chef area. Obviously, customer service is non-existent!

My oven is model number 3468XVW. Full information should be included in the literature.

Good afternoon. This started when a dishwasher that we had for 12 years died, it was a Maytag. This happen on 2-6-2017 We had to go buy a dishwasher immediately, so we went to sears outlet on Woodruff Rd, and purchased one that we were able to bring home with us. It is a Kenmore Ultra Wash, Model # 66514429N511, Serial #F63602767. We had our contractor install it. The next day, I received a call from sears requesting that I purchase the extended warranty, which was offered to me for the price of $54.00, so I did because I just knew this was a good product, our family grew up on Kenmore products. Well the next day, after it was installed, I used it. First of all, it ran for 7 hours, which I thought was strange, and my dishes came out not very clean. Well at first, I thought I was doing something wrong so I pulled out the manual and read about the dishwasher to make sure I was going everything correctly. First of all, I found that I had to run my hot water until it was streaming to even start the dishwasher, which I did, I am very good at following directions. This went on for about a few weeks or so, but my dishes were not any cleaner, and they always came out wet. That is when I made my first call to Sears, and set up an appointment for them to come out and look at everything. By the time, someone actually got out here was around the middle of April. They checked everything and said I was using the wrong amount of detergent, and advised me to use Finish Powerball and a drying aid, so I went out a brought both, They told me to stop using the rinse aid. I used these two items for a while and the dishes still were no cleaner, and still wet, but this time I was starting to get spots. I was not happy but I tried this for a month or more, and it got worse, so I called Sears again. It took them about a few weeks to come out, this time, they said they replace the sensor. Ok, I started washing my dishes again and purchased a new set of flatware because I was getting rust spots on my silverware. Waited another month or so, called again and Sears came out a third time, this time they replaced some switch because it would only wash if I used the pot cycle, this was in July 2017. This time they replaced that switch. Nothing changed and now my dishes were spotting, wet and dirty. I started just washing my dishes by hand. My husband was upset because we had a party, and we used a large number of dishes, which meant we both had to wash. By the end of Sept, he got upset and said call them back, which I did and they came out a 4th time the middle of Oct 2017. I left the dishes I had washed that morning in the dishwasher, so the tech could see for himself what I was getting. At this point, he called his internal dept. and send them pictures of the problems. Well after a while, they came back and stated that the reason that the dishwasher was not working properly, was because our water was too soft. Let me tell you, I was very upset. We have a whole house water system because of a shin problem that my husband has, and when the tech told me that that is what they came up with and they were not going to do anything else about this because they had been out here 4 times already, and they could not understand why it was not working properly, so this is what they came up with. I want a full refund for the purchase price of the dishwasher, the extended warranty that I purchased, plus a refund on my silverware. I am so upset at this point, I am ready to get my lawyer involved. I have never heard anything like this in my life. I always pride myself on treating people the way I want to be treated, and by now I expected this dishwasher to be replaced and an apology for all of the problems I have had, but no, nothing, just my water is too soft. This is a joke, and I expect a positive reply within 30 days. My last dishwasher was a Maytag, and it was just old, never had these types of problems.

I'm pretty heavily involved with the industry and I think I can provide you with some insight.

To begin with, the industry has changed a great deal since you purchased the Maytag. Part of which is energy efficient requirements which have changed the way all dishwashers perform.

Second issue is that you need to understand that Kenmore has never manufactured anything. They are a Sears store brand which contracts other manufactures to produce appliances and place the Kenmore name on it. For years they contracted with Whirlpool for an abundance of the Kenmore products. This changed a few years ago and LG now produces the majority of their products.

Not directly important to your complaint, but interesting nonetheless is that Sears, unfortunately, is very close to going out of business. They've already ceased business in Canada and have, just this week, ended their decades old partnership with Whirlpool. This is different from changing their contracts to have LG build most of their Kenmore products; they will actually stop carrying any Whirlpool products. This includes Amana, Maytag, Kitchenaid and Jenn-Air. Because of Sears becoming rather financially unstable, Whirlpool started requiring them to change the terms of payment. Sears had a difficult time accepting it, so the 'partnership' has come to an end.

More directly to your complaint, you need to understand the fundamental difference between Maytag dishwashers and LG dishwashers. Dishwashers are engineered to work in what is referred to as either U.S. standard or European standard. Your Maytag was U.S. designed, the LG/Kenmore is now European. The difference is in the way the dishwasher heats the water and dries the contents. Heating the water from the tap is not a bad suggestion, but there is an in-line water heater that should also help. One of the major problems that hasn't been discussed and could likely be the source of all your problems is the way you load the dishes. DO NOT PRE-RINSE YOUR DISHES. Just slightly scrape the plate to remove any major pits or bones - leave everything else. This has to do with a change in the dish washing detergents. Phosphates were removed years ago which, in turn, requires enough grease within the tub. Without such, THE DETERGENTS WON'T ACTIVATE AND LEAVES YOU WITH TERRIBLE RESULTS. Because there is NO Cal-rod on the bottom of this dishwasher, drying is accomplished using something called condensation dry. It takes longer and with HARD WATER (not soft water) can become more of an issue. The Finish tablets should work fine.

So know, with all of that understood, give it another try. I'd like to hear the results.

For what's it worth, I'd hesitate contacting an attorney. A retainer will run you a great deal more than replacing the unit.

Maytag leon's furniture st. john's nl

Hi, My name is Charmaine Taylor. I bought a Maytag fridge in June 2017. I have been trying to order the chiller compartment but no luck. According to, this fridge was suppose to come with one and it didn't. I have been trying to contact the sale person, Greg Murphy at the Leons store in St. John's NL and left many messages and no reply. So I contacted the manger and he said he would order one and that was a month ago. I have been calling and leaving messages to see if the compartment is in and no body is returning my calls and still no chiller. I am very frustrated with this issue to the point of not shopping at Leons again! Please help me with this issue. Absolute poor customer service I have ever seen. We bought all our appliances there in June (5000.00) and I received better customer service at Cohens when I asked about a cleaner, let alone anything else.

Maytag appliance does not work and hd will not replace or repair

Ok, I have been polite and patient but it isn't working so it's just about time to ramp this up on social media and tv consumer affairs. I am getting NO action from Maytag or the store where we just spent thousands of dollars...all I get are false promises.
I have literally spent days on the phone with HD and Maytag, but still no action. Here's what happened. On Sept 26th, a new set of kitchen appliances were delivered from the Calgary Mackenzie store, but only 3 of the 4 made it. One was missing (oversold apparently) but that has since been remedied, albeit with a LOT of work and insistence. The next day after delivery, we found that the stove oven doesn't work and it's been that way since it arrived, NEW. 2 1/2 weeks later and neither a repair person nor a new stove have arrived, in spite of several calls to Maytag's 1-800 number and repeated promises from HD of a new stove being hotshotted to us. Two weeks later and nobody knows where the new stove is.
I paid thousands and one piece is defective out of the box; and HD does nothing but talk. Hello social media! HD, when you wonder why you get dismal ratings, remember that you took my money but delivered defective product that doesn't get remedied. I really wish I could shop at a reliable store but HD has run most of the smaller appliances stores out of business so there is almost no choice anymore. You are quickly losing a long-time customer because you don't give a damn.

A response from Maytag, after 3 weeks! Wow! Thanks for the response but it has finally been resolved. Since writing about the issue, many, many phone calls to Maytag and HD, a new stove was provided just last night (over 3 weeks since the complaint). Ironic and very sad that the lady I talked to at corporate Home Depot Consumer Relations department could not talk English sufficient that I could understand. At best, I understood about 30-40% of what she said. We both got frustrated, but the final straw was that she accused me of being from Africa, that she knew my family came from there and thus should be able to survive without cooking our food for weeks. Really!...that's inexcusable. We are actually of German-Irish descent but that is beside the point. A very VERY poor talent to have in HDs Consumer Relations group. She did more to ruin HD's reputation with us than anything I have ever experienced, when everyone else tried so hard to correct the issue.
Overall, I must commend the local HD store (Brittany, Vernadette, Yimani(sp), Bastion) for trying so hard to make things better, even offering to personally and immediately deliver a range off the store floor so we could cook our Thanksgiving turkey for family. The issue of taking so long to replace the range is because it is not held in stock by HD but rather all appliances come directly from the manufacturer. I am told that HD only has floor models for show and just rents space to the manufacturer by the square foot, a frontage and selling 'face' for the consumer. After a sale is made, all responsibility, delivery and provisions are by the manufacturer, with HD out of the picture at this point. It is Maytag that is so lethargic in response, whether it be repair or replacement. In the last call to Maytag's 1-800 line, I was promised a reply within about 2hours. I'm still waiting, over a week later. Home Depot, made things better, as it should be, with no thanks to Maytag.
All this is aside from the fact that the dishwasher bought at the initial transaction was not delivered because they were apparently all sold and gone, even though I had paid in full for it. It took another week to get a different DW than what we wanted, only by being uber insistent that we did not receive what we paid for. Again, Maytag dropped the ball. This has been the transaction from hell.

Maytag dishwasher model mdb7749sbw

We purchased our dishwasher on January 26, 2014. Yesterday the integrated handle and panel failed for a second time. When opening the dishwasher you have to lift up on the control panel, which subsequently separates from the door panel. Our first panel replacement was installed shortly after November 10, 2016.
The design of this dishwasher is poor and will continue to fail. We cannot keep funding an extended warranty program for a defective product. Maytag needs to provide us with a replacement dishwasher with a better design. One you can open the dishwasher without the control panel attached.

As someone that's actively involved within the industry, I wouldn't hesitate to say that the 7749 is a decently engineered dishwasher. If it is still under an extended warranty, just make sure the service provider fixes it correctly.

Maytag washer

Have a new Maytag washer. I like it except for one thing. The sensing cycle is aggravating and time-consuming. I use the "deep water" option all the time, so it would seem the sensing is unnecessary. That cycle is very long and makes adding bleach to a load problematic. It is hard to tell when the washer has finished filling, which is the best time to add bleach. I used the special receptacle for adding bleach one time only. Unfortunately, it bleached spots in my next load of clothes. So I won't be using that anymore. Adding bleaching during the long-running first cycle ends up eating the fabric.

Bought at home depot red deer alberta canada on march 24/17. The door leaked water all over my kitchen floor. I called extended service number, and they sent out a repair guy on sept 12/17 with parts already, even before he had done any troubleshooting? Parts were new sliding rails. New rails were 1/16" shorter than original which means maytag knew it was a design fault causing door to not close properly. I have photos of wood that has swelled and busted on my brand new kitchen. It is the piece to the right of the dishwasher in photo. As you guys obviously knew about the issue with this model and didn't do any changes to fix the problem before it was sold to me, then I would like you to pay for the kitchen installers to replace the one piece of damaged wood. I have photos attached. I can get an estimate for you for the repair if required. I trust you will take care of this issue asap. Thank you. Steven cubby

Maytag maytag refrigerator/freezer mod# mfi2067aes7 ser#k04590938

On 8/25/2017 the control panel of the unit did not show any display. Lights and temperature monitoring did not work. The unit interior temperature started to increase as evidenced by condensation in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments. The master control board had failed on the unit as identified by a service technician on 8/26/2017. This complaint involves three aspects - the service broker Fort Mill Appliance Repair 414 Tom Hall St, Fort Mill, SC 29715 phone [protected]; the service provider, Star Appliance & HVAC, PO Box 473301 Charlotte NC 28247 phone [protected]; and Maytag the parts provider. Note that the component failure was identified 8/26/17 - the repair was completed on 9/7/2017. In short $455 was spent on dry ice during the "emergency repair process" - an average of $35 per day for 13 days. The repair cost $491.30. Thus the total repair bill was 946.30 for a part that cost $339.17. We were lead to believe that the part was readily available and that the repair should take several days. Had this been the case we would not be writing. The high level of frustration came from the lack of response from the service broker and the service provider as calls and text messages sent went unanswered. When we did get a return call the issue was the part " is on back order". Now what I find tough to believe based on my 30+ years of experience in global manufacturing and logistics that a part was not available that could not be shipped in the entire Eastern US supply chain or US supply chain. What we are asking at this point is at a minimum a refund on the part of $339.17 or preferably a full refund of the repair of $491.30 based on what was spent on dry ice due to the expectation that the repair was a several day event.

Maytag service after sale

Greeting,
I am very proud to have MAYTAG dryer. MAYTAG dryer has a heating problem and I already informed your vendor in Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Shaker Group on September 10, 2017 and their technician came and he told me that it needs spare part to fix. However, nobody called me after that and their response is very bad and I have communicated them many times with complain to their management but no action until now. My MAYTAG dryer is still out of service.

Maytag customer service

I called when I needed a new washing machine lid due to an accident. I explained that my original lid was nearly impossible to use and why. I was told the lid was on back order and given a date range of when to expect it. After I was told it was $200+ dollars and I was left no choice but to purchase I did. I got the lid and no hardware to install. I called back in and was told I needed hinges for the lid and they weren't included. Another week passed and I got the hinges. The hinges both had the same number which I thought was weird when they said they were two different hinges. Then I discovered that yet again when I said I need hinges and whatever else assuming screws would be needed as well to order those. Got the hinges and NO screws. I am now done messing with Maytag. I have left several bad reviews online like this. I mean seriously, how hard is it to listen and get me the right parts. It has really been sad because I love my washing machine and dryer. It will certainly stop me from purchasing Maytag in the future.

It looks like Maytag is trying to help out. At least you can't say they tried to SCREW you. ;-)

Seriously, the mistake was not getting a "break out" parts chart. Many manufactures do this.

Maytag french door fridge ice maker only - no dispenser

Purchased at Hm Depot along with the extended warranty 5plus years ago . Last year noticed water leaking & running out the front. After researching we learned this is a common problem luckily warranty still in affect so itvwas reoaired . The bottom tray was filling with water, melting & leaking out Now ice maker does not work - discussed the orobkem with a repairman who said another common issue & it may be the back of the freeezer frosting up? Of course the warranty ran out 5 months ago! Disgusting! This is pretty sad when a major appliance does not last more than a few years. Ive had a Fridgedaire refrigerator for almost 15vyears and never had a problem

It has nothing to do with brand. Fridges, overall, don't use as big of compressors to be more energy conservative. It's why fridges use to last decades and you hope to get ten years out of them now.

Maytag purchase of four kitchen appliances

We purchased Maytag products in May 2017. Purchase included Side by Side Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Over the Stove Microwave, Electric Stove. Up until now, September 27, we have had the repairman multiple times for the following:
Dishwasher door would not latch properly, replaced seal, leaks continually from the door, latch on order.
Refrigerator began making noise within a month of purchase and an air inlet door was the culprit, replaced.
Microwave now consistently gives "open and reclose door" signal and will not cook until the door is manipulated several times.
Electric stove light burned out within days of purchase (understandable maybe)

I used to work for an appliance company that handled Maytag and installed and serviced the product so I thought I was purchasing quality material. Wow, has the product gone way down hill. If it weren't for the exceptional service we have received from Beiter's Appliances in Williamsport, PA, I would be asking to have all of the units returned. All four units were fingerprint proof stainless and when I bought all new I wasn't expecting to have the troubles I have had. I'm very very disappointed in the brand.

Maytag maytag front load 2000 series washer

Just a little over 6 years ago we purchased a Maytag washer and dryer set together with pedestals from Home Depot. Up to now we have had no complaints. I do work diligently at looking after it (wiping it down after each use, using less detergent, doing the clean cycle, etc.).

All of the sudden it started making a loud noise during the spin cycle. I requested a service call online through Maytag (using who they recommended) and had a service technician arrived the next day. It took him a few short minutes to tell us it would probably cost just as much to fix it as to buy a new one. He thought it was a bearing issue and to call Maytag the next day after he submitted his report. I did and was told by Maytag that all they would do was give us a discount on a new washer. They would not however do anything towards the matching pedestal which has to also be replaced. And, we would have to pay the taxes and shipping costs.

When we bought the pedestals we were told that the pedestals would most likely match another Maytag washer or dryer since they were a company that rarely changed them. Well this is not true as each one we've checked into is different and must be purchased with the specific washer or dryer.

We made a quick visit to Home Depot to check prices and they had the exact model there for very close to the same price that Maytag offered us a discount on . So much for the big discount they offered us.

The service repair guy was excellent and said that he thought that Maytag was one of the better companies for looking after their customers but apparently we were not one of the lucky ones.

It is frustrating to purchase a set of high quality (we thought) washer and dryers and also the matching pedestals and now are in the position of 6 years later being stuck with having to replace not only the washer but the pedestal as well. It's sad that we are such a throw away world now. I asked if they would work with us in trying to find a model that would fit our current pedestal and of course that was a no too.

At this point in time I'm thinking it best to step away from any and all Maytag appliances and look at purchasing from another company.
So much for customer loyalty!

On a lighter note, I guess that's why we don't see the commercials any more where the Maytag repair man is so bored because their appliances never break down.

Attention MayTag Social Media Relations that is in fact the phone number that I contacted on a couple of occasions and even asked to speak with a Supervisor to express our concerns. Unfortunately nothing has changed!
