terrible customer service
I stopped by the Meijer store in Bloomingdale, IL - store #198 today, as I have almost every Thursday for years. I wanted to purchase three plastic 6 inch flower pots. The pots didn't have a price tag or barcode on them, so I asked the worker in the garden center to price them. A gentleman wearing a light color oxford ( I believe a manager of some type) took the pots from the worker, looked at them, and said "I'll charge you $.69 each for them today only, just let them know at checkout". I thanked them and walked away. After doing more shopping, I was ready to check out.
At the checkout was Gloria who seemed friendly enough in the beginning. She began ringing up my items and as she got to the pots, I explained to her that what happened and about the price the "manager" told me to tell her. At that point she took the pots, closed her register (mind you there was a long line behind me) and took pots over to the customer service area. Gloria came back to the register, and keyed something and the next thing I know she began to ring up the next person. I asked her where were the pots and why she did not complete my sale. She told me someone is looking into the price.
The customer service person walked with the pots over to another register with a cashier already checking out a customer and talked on the phone for a while. Then someone named Brittany came up to me and basically said she did not believe my story. Mind you these were small plastic pots, not iPhones, TV's, or prime rib. So, Brittany and I went looking for the person who quoted the price to me. I really couldn't believe I had to go through all of this for pots.
We couldn't find the person so, I described him and the other worker I originally talked to. Brittany went into this speech about how people here would not make up prices because they could be fired. At this point I just wanted to leave ( over twenty minutes at this point) so, I told her since they can't give me the $.69 price I will just leave everything and leave and they can restock everything. Only after saying this did Brittany finally ring up the pots.
Sorry, this is so long over small plastic flower pots but, I want to give an idea of what I had to go through. If I had something more expensive that I was trying to purchase, I could understand, but really. It cost your workers more time and money to look for something that technically was not in your system (no SKU number, no price tag). I guess Meijer has that kind of money to burn.
I did not feel trusted or valued as a customer.
bottle return area
I was at the meijer today in commerce twsp michigan and as I went to return my bottles my feet stuck to the floor and ripped both of my shoes has i went to lift my feet off the floor, this is a remodeled store and my complaint also is that this would have not happened if the floors were clean . I am very upset and I spend a lot of money there and this makes me not want to return to that location to shop.
produce
To whom it may concern,
I am a routine customer at Meijer on 2013 Lantern Ridge in Richmond, KY. In fact, I have been a loyal customer there for several years spending an average of $550 a month on groceries alone.
Buying highly quality produce is important for my family and we easily spend $45 a week on produce alone. In fact, the sole reason we started shopping at Meijer was because of the produce quality, but in recent months we have noticed the quality of Meijer produce had been declining.
My most recent visit on Saturday, May 20 left me in disgust. The pineapples were extremely small and very green and the kiwis were wilted. The apple pears were all severely bruised and the grapes were also too unripe to consider buying. As I was selecting oranges several of them were bruised and oozing juice. I found myself picking through several moldy oranges and felt like I was digging through a dumpster. It was at that moment I decided that I work too hard to pick through such poor produce and left to do my shopping at your leading competitor.
Until the Meijer here in Richmond, KY brings their produce standard up to par I will continue to do my shopping at your competitor's store.
Sincerely,
Robert L.
produce department
did not have a product on the shelf for three weeks. the marzetti lemon vinegrette salad dressing. finally talked to the produce manager and he told me he would find out why it hadnt been on the shelf. he said i would get a phone call about it and he would give me a deal on it. Two weeks later after i had checked four times it was finally on the shelf. I bought it at full price. i just feel if they are going to call you when a product comes in they should follow thru.
household cooking
I've recently purchased two household items from you Meijer. Come to my surprise both of them are broken. I'm not having a very good track record with you guys. I know Wal Mart doesn't have the produce that you do but at least for household appliance aren't broken like yours have been. So let's see I spent time going up there waiting in the long lines to check out twice. Then I have to go back with limited time and do it all over again. To be honest I'm pretty sick of your store and doing that. Anyways I doubt you'll try to do anything besides say we're sorry so have a great day a very unhappy ex customer. Oh yeah I'm a born and raised Michigan guy and loved to support a Michigan store. Well did
poor customer service
Waited 50 minutes in bottle returns, only one machine working. Called and was told the other 8 machine's are broke. To make matters worse the one working kept getting full & the employee didn't empty the bin he just kept shaking the bottle's & of course the bin kept stopping! So I complain to the manager and was told he had called the co. This morning and they still haven't come. I told him as busy as the store gets I can't believe he was still waiting. Manager said he had no control when they come...need I say more!
pharmacy
I called in a RX on Thursday May 11th via phone refills. I went on Saturday May 13th to pick up my RX and the tech told me they had them ready but my insurance was not going though. I apologized and told her that I had a new insurance company and I would bring the cards to them on Sunday. Sunday, May 14th, I went back and gave the card to the window tech. After she entered my card she said I would have to wait 15 to 20 minutes. I could not understand how they where ready on Saturday but not on Sunday. This was unacceptable and I felt as if I were lied to. I drove off, called the pharmacy back and cancelled my RX and transfered them. The team leader was helpful in transfering the medication I needed to another pharmacy. I am a huge fan of Meijer and went out of my way to shop there. This is not the first instance when my RX was not complete when promised. My 5 months old grandson was in the car and 15 minutes is a lifetime in a sitting car. I am sorry to say that I will be shopping elsewhere when I have prescriptions needing to be filled.
shower rod
My brother had stopped by the night before I did on May 12, 2017. He wanted to get a shower rod due to us moving into a new house. He ended up choosing the Luminex aluminum curved rod. When ringing it up, it rung up $49.99. My brother informed the cashier that the tag on the shelf said $24.99. The cashier called for a sales associate to look it up, and sure enough the tag said $24.99. My brother told me about the great deal, and I decided to go back and purchase the same rod. The same chain of events happen. It rung up $49.99. We called for help, and the gentleman that helped us called for his boss. She (unfortunately I do not remember her name) came over, and we explained the situation to her. We told her about my brother coming the night before and what happened. She then got on the phone and called for her boss. He walked over and we explained the situation to him. He immediately answered with "well the girl should have fixed the tag yesterday. It just wasn't in the right spot. I can take $5 off, but that's all I'm doing". Now clearly I understand if something is in the wrong spot. But we were not told that it was in the wrong spot last night, but simply that it was the wrong price. I didn't plan on spending that much, so I gave the rod back and told the manager (Brian) that I would look elsewhere. Discouraged, I started walking out. My brother walked back to the aisle again, and showed Brian that the tag for this exact item did indeed say $24.99, and the double rod was supposed to be $49.99. Brian walked back up, checked me out, and said "have a good night". I appreciate that the price was taken down, but I was flabbergasted at the fact that Brian did not apologize for the mix up. I know everyone says "the customer is always right, " and I work retail. I understand that people try to play the system. This was not the case tonight. I felt embarrassed to be standing in front of 8 or 9 other customers and he made to look like I was being untruthful in what I was telling them. Once Brian found out that we were telling the truth, he acted like it was a bother that he even had to ring me up. I'm saddened at this lack of professionalism, and I don't know if I'd come back to meijer.
unethical behavior / branson 3-piece rocker patio set
Today, 05.07.2017, we visited Meijer on 11351 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229 around 11 AM to buy a patio rocker set. I believe the Meijer associate unethically told us that there were none available when, in fact, there were. She said they could not sell the display set. We went to the Customer Service & the associate there saw 3 in stock, but when he called the Home & Garden associate- she once again reported none were available. This item had just been put on sale for $50 off. Why was the 'sale sign' not removed from this item in this store if there are none available? Why were we not able to purchase this item when the Customer Service department saw that 3 were in stock?
bissell powerlifter super light vacuum
Product was packaged as a brand new vacuum on clearance. Was packaged as it should of been box in perfect condition. Also had security device on product. Paid cash 100 and change. Got it home and took out of box to find it filthy and used. Human hair stuck in brissels. Reservoir full of gather and dirt and I smelled like a litterbox. I understand that it was a clearance item but it was sold as a new item. No where ever have I bought something new and found out that someone in your company probably management made the call to do that. That is complete false advertising to the fullest. And I undertstand your return policy and dont. Feel like it fits this certian incident. Seeing how alot more was wasted tgan just my money. May of had flees or bed bugs living inside. And may have infected my home with whatever your company decided to sell me. Among the endless possibilities of what the vacuum may have been used on proir to being in my house. Scares me to death to think what may now be around my children with low immune system. Aslo elderly woman with fibromyalgia and the smallest illness will cuase hospitalization and possibly death. With all that aside. Im just very upset. With how your store conducted such dishonesty and thievery. Im very curious on how you guys plan to take care of this. Thank you for your time hopefully hear from your very soon. I will have my attorney contact corporate office if I do not hear back in a timely matter. This is being documented and filed as. Your first written attempt to contact your company.
poor management
I am an hourly employee at meijer, and I am completely blown away by the lack of care the management has. I have been working at meijer for about 5 months now. Management is a joke. We have employees that don't pull their weight and the ones that do work, have to take up the slack for the incompetent workers. We have a guy that is drunk every night and management just laughs it off and it's just a big joke. I can not for the life of me, comprehend how any company can let such nonsense go on and on and on and nothing is done. The employees who actually care about the work and want to put the product out and make the store look nice for the customers are being overworked and under appreciated. The employees that don't pull their weight are just allowed to continuously call in, or not complete their work because we, the ones who actually do the job correctly, get reprimanded when the work is not done or it's done incerrectly. I shouldn't have to do the job of 3 people. The new process that has been implemented is AWFUL, and the shelves are always empty. We have had customer complaints about this, and yet nothing is done. I have never worked for a company that gives raises based on hours accumulated, rather than on performance. I can not even begin to explain the rage and anger I have for my management team and the horrible hiring process. I am living paycheck to paycheck and do not have the luxury of quitting this horrible job, so I just endure it. I feel someone should know, even if nothing is done about this nonsense. I have always thought meijer was overpriced on everything, and now, working for this company, I don't understand why the prices are so high but the pay for hard working employees is beyond ridiculous. I hope I can endure the nonsense until I am able to find a better job, which at this point, I feel standing on the side of the road with a sign and begging for money would be better than this company any day. Thank you for your time and I really hope meijer can improve their standards. I highly doubt it, but I hope.
employees
I started going to the #Meijer gas station when they opened in Greenfield Wisconsin because it's closer to home. I actually go there quite often but have had incidences occur not knowing that it was an employee of the station. There was 3 occasions that I had walked past a strong "marijuana odor." The first 2 times, I thought it was a high school girl with bluish colored hair since she was outside both times when I walked past her and smelled it. The last time (a few days ago) I was in the store and there was a female employee inside and she couldn't keep up with the amount of customers. She went to get someone else from outside. Well, needless to say, the blue haired girl came in and went behind the counter, so now I knew she worked there. When she walked past me to go behind the counter, I could swear she smelled as if she was holding a lit marijuana pipe/cig as she walked by because the odor was so strong. So, I may have to adjust where I shop and might have to go back to Walmart or Woodmans since it seems #Meijer allows their employees to use illegal drugs while employed with them.
photo dept lenox #242
Arrived at 5:30pm entered a graduation invitation order. Walked around for 20 min came back and they forgot to "release" the order. Waited 20 more minutes, ran out of paper at 33/40 invites. They searched everywhere for paper and couldn't find it. We asked politely if they could just charge us for the 33 and we would get the rest when they figured it out. 2 people working back there couldn't figure out how to adjust the price, 1 cashier muttered F--- under her breathe and called a manager after 10 more minutes another "manager" came back with lunch in her hand and told them to call
Another manger! Now 6:52pm. 4 people and no one could help us, or apologize or offer a solution! Absolute horrible service. Would like a call back as we need these invites. [protected] Bill Smith order# 5554925.
deli
I have never waited 22 minutes, in line, on a Tuesday morning for sliced turkey breast...only 1 person working in that area...?poor choice for labor cost and schedule writers...walked away amidst all the uncomfortable beams, drywall and piles of leftover dust...thought I would try to get my blood oranges...none in site...there was a sign stating blood oranges and empty boxes...with no produce people around to ask any questions...My end all was going to get my Gurnsey whole milk...none...so disappointing ...
in times like these...with customer service so important, one would think to staff more for efficiency and care...to keep your customers.
We spend $600/month at Meijers and you have failed us...never again...going to Kroger.

Have tried on two occasions to fill my script and have been denied. I have been told it's not a legal script and treated as though I have written the script myself or stole it from somewhere because it's a controlled substance. The employees either don't know what they are doing, or are very rude and judgmental. Isn't it their line of work to be understanding and nonjudgmental? And how can a script be legal if I can drive down the street and get it filled at Rite Aid?
gordo's (brand) cheese dip...
Just disappointed that the Maysville Road Meijer in Fort Wayne, IN seems to have "stopped" carrying the Gordo's Cheese Dip. I realize this is a miner thing on the grand scale, but we try to do ALL our shopping at Meijer, and now have to go across the street to WalMart to obtain the item : ( All in all we are very satisfied with the products, service and pricing we find at Meijer stores.
I've tried two Meijer stores near me and neither seem to have Gordo's any longer. How very disappointing!
counterfeit money given to me and bad meat!
First off - I purchased a bulk size of ground beef and when I got home from the store I went to split it up to freeze it and they had surrounded old brown meat with fresh red! Never buy bulk ground beef from meijer in taylor!
I am on disability and only get out about once a month because it hurts to drive. So I took the meat back on 3/27/17 and the lady refunded me cash with no hassle ($14). I never carry cash - always use my debit card. So between rarely getting out and not used to having cash on me I hadn't spent it. After dropping my granddaughter off one night I remembered I had the cash and decided to get arby's. When I paid the lady she said immediately, "mam, I can't take this, it is fake." I had to think for a minute where I did a refund at and then remembered it was meijer and since I now keep receipts (Because of retail screw ups!) I still had the receipt. So, now I am inconvenienced that I have to make a special trip back up there. I finally got out 4/18/17 and took it and the receipt and at first a nice young gentleman was going to replace it. Then this crackhead looking woman butt her nose in and started acting like I was scamming! Over $10! I would like to have received more credit that if I was going to do this it would be for more than the gas it cost me to do it! She looked like a skank so my guess is she didn't trust me because she knows scams very well. She kept interfering to block the young man for correcting it until I finally told her I wasn't in the mood for her attitude - that I was the customer and had been inconvenienced over their failure! She continued to want to get the last word, antagonize me and fight with me! Over $10! And I had the proof that I received a refund. She should be fired with that attitude! Finally 2 guys came out insinuating they were management but almost as if they didn't want to claim they were because maybe they weren't. They immediately started acting like I was a criminal! That they would have to go back and view the tapes and call me! So at this point they had no respect how much I had been put out already. I suggested to them that they make a copy of the proof I had that I had gotten a refund from them and take my driver's license and then investigate it and if they find I am the one pulling a scam send the cops after me! It was $10! They wanted to cost me more than that in gas! They were complete rude #! Somonte and joe (Or joey or joel). Get this! That crackhead was in the back ground staring at me giving me dirty looks as if she was the judge and jury on this and convinced I was pulling a scam! I finally said something to her - "listen, you can stop standing back there trying to antagonize me because you are no longer involved in it!" these two "playing manager" did nothing to correct her behavior towards a customer! But had the nerve to tell me to "talk to them!" the whole experience was just lowlife behavior and the crappiest - worst customer service ever! Ghetto! No one should ever be treated that way as a customer! If I was going to pull a scam it wouldn't be with a $10 bill! Cost that much to bring the damn thing to them! They refused to take care of the customer! I asked for that lady's name and told them I was calling corporate. I know why people have to wear name badges! This somonte said he couldn't give me her name he had to protect her! Really? Then why are they wearing name badges! Just rude #! All they wanted to do was treat me like crap! Like I was the one pushing counterfeit after their store handed it out! I had show this to 3 other people in retail that take cash and they could tell it was counterfeit as soon as they touched it but their employees can't! I had never had this happen so I wasn't prepared to check money coming from a retail environment! I just wadded it up and put it in my purse where it sat since the 27th. The refused to take my driver's license and a copy of the refund transaction, give me my $10 that they cost me covering up bad meat and investigate it! Being complete rude # they wanted to put me out more! Tell me they have to investigate it and call me! Done doing business with meijer! Their employee screws up - someone that is supposed to be trained about counterfeit money and the customer is put out! You should never ever have to expect to receive fake money from a store! Don't they train their cashiers? My granddaughter works in retail and they are trained and have to check all $10's and up! If they take counterfeit they get fired! It gets taken from their paycheck! No tolerance! It's not like I had no proof of getting money from them! It's not like it was a $50 or $100! I could see it then! Treat a customer like crap over their $10 mistake! Or what? Did that cashier do it? Two other cashiers at that store new immediately that it was fake! So why didn't the one that gave it to me! They didn't take any information to investigate it! Nothing! They were fine ripping me off with their mistake!
I told them I was calling corporate and going to the police which I did! Corporate put the one # on the phone who now was saying he could only give me a gift card! So after calling corporate and having to drive to the police station - now costing me $10 and all that frustration - the # says he will give me a gift card! That was all they could do! Nice! I get a $10 cash refund that they screw up on and pass off counterfeit and I have to take a gift card! Having to spend $10 now back in a store I will never go to again!
So when I went back to get it, the crackhead looking woman and both of these "pretend managers" didn't come anywhere near me. The turned the "criminal" over to a cashier (Jeannette!) who they can all learn customer service from! She could tell it was fake! Another cashier came up and could tell it was fake! But their employee at the service desk gave it to a customer! So if I was a criminal and they had to protect that ghetto looking crackhead from me - why did they have a cashier take care of me? Bs! All they wanted to do was piss a customer off that they had done wrong! And they let these people deal with customers! I guarantee you the reason that crack head looking woman was treating me like a criminal is because she knows the trick! I am sure by looking at her that she is into all kinds of "questionable" behavior! But don't treat me like you act! I am not a thief and have never seen nor touched counterfeit ever! Funny she was so "untrusting!" then these "pretend managers" allowing her to antagonize me as they were talking to me - trying to piss me off more! That is why they didn't care about her behavior. They watched her keep talking back to me - having to get the last word and argue with a customer that their store screwed up with!
Watch meijers! If they hand you fake money they will not want to correct it! Their employees are allowed to get away with treating customers like ghetto trash!
I prefer kroger anyway! I never trusted meijer meat! I only go there because they are close and it hurts to drive. But that is fine! Back to kroger! I have never gotten rank meat from kroger! They literally covered brown ground beef with good pink meat! Don't but their bulk ground beef!
I never cared for meijer! Now I am done! That somonte, joe and that crackhead are the last straw!
If I was going to try to make money pushing off counterfeit I can guarantee you I won't be trying to do it on $10 bills! They cost me more than that in gas and time!
Update to above. Apparently the bad meat, the counterfeit money and the horrible way their management and customer service acted in their store is not a concern to them. My trust in Meijer is out the window. Using their store has inconvenienced me, cost me money and caused me negativity and to be treated like a criminal over hiding bad meat inside good meat and giving fake money to a customer. I filed a complaint with corporate and no one has contacted me concerned about this. Even upper management does not care about bad meat hidden in good meat, counterfeit money being passed from their store to a customer and their customer service people and management treating that customer like crap after all of that. I have risked losing money two times now from shopping there. I have been inconvenienced and had to make 2 additional trips back to the store for trusting them. And after THEY passed fake money to a customer I was the one treated like a criminal. It is a risk to shop at Meijer and management does not care about customers. So if it costs you to shop there, do not expect management to care about your business. If they give you counterfeit money be prepared to be out the money.
customer service
On april 10, 2017 my daughter and I went to cash out of an express lane at the meijer in east jackson, michigan. My 16 year old daughter proudly went to pay cashier with her tip money from her very first job at an ice cream parlor. My daughter had a lot of one dollar bills from the tips. The cashier actually said to her... Where did you get the one dollar bills from and should I even ask! At that time other customers commented on where the money came from... I was horrified. The cashier implied my daughter was a stripper prostitute publicly to other customers. I called and spoke to a manager who wouldn't give me his full name out of fear of a lawsuit. I believe the is verbal sexual harassment of a minor by a meijer employee. I demand she be fired. I will contact attorney and corporate headquarters. If they do not fire this criminal I am going with my attorney to lansing mi to the media to inform everyone that meijer employees people who verbally sexually harass female minors. Be prepared meijer. The lawsuit is on you to do the right thing and fire this individual. My daughter was so proud to pay for her bill at meijer just to be emotionally and psychologically scarred by one of your cashiers.
gas grill char broil
I went in yesterday and saw a Char Broil Grill, 3 burners, for sale with a tag on it marked $150.00. Today I came back to buy the grill. It now had no price tag on it. When I went to buy it, I was told it was now $249.00. I told the area manager that I should get the price that I saw on the item. She called a store manager, Josh, who said too bad. It was marked wrong. I told him I buy about $150.00 to $200.00 in groceries there every week. He said sorry, but he would not honor the price it was marked at. I told him he just lost a customer and that he should get his act together. Poor customer service. They did not seem to care. I went to Kroger then and bought their 4 burner Char Broil grill for $199.00. I will be shopping at Kroger in the future.

produce/food complaint
I am a mother of 3 teenagers and purchase at least $400 of food each week from Meijer. I am a big advocate of organics for my family and this is one reason that I shop at your Cascade location. I have always bragged how great your produce and organics selection is compared to D & W and Forest Hill Foods. Your greeters are very friendly and I like the concept of being able to purchase other needs I may have from electronics to toiletries etc. However, lately, I have been very disappointed in out of stocks. The last 5 times I have come to get my shopping done, I have to go to two grocery stores because you are out of so many items. I took pictures to show the store director but he was not in. I planned my week of food and wanted to prepare 3 days of food this evening and could not because you were out of so many items with empty shelves. You were out of organic romaine, cilantro, bags of lemons, avocados. I purchased a package of thyme and when I got home and opened it, it was spoiled. When I went to put my poblanos away, two had rot spots that were mush. The organic cucumbers only had a few in stock and were not good quality. I understand you will be out of things from time to time but it has been on a more consistent basis that I have experienced this lately. I want to continue to do my shopping with you but cannot be having to go to two grocery stores every time I shop. Thought you might want to know.
