deli workers slow, and self-checkout machines not working
Store #107, 6/23. Gave up waiting at deli counter--and this was not the first time-- because it was so slow. Need to get a hustler in there. At to self-checkout line, scanning machine slow, wouldn't take coupons, then it quit working altogether. I had to re-load cart, move to another lane, re-unload cart/re-scan. Fortunately, employee Zahida was very helpful and kind.

check out lanes
After shopping for an hour on a Friday evening, I got in line at check out. The people ahead of me had a problem with the mperks. Cashier tried getting help for ten minutes and then a manager come over and told him to reset something and walked away. He still had problems and said what should I do. I went got the manager again. After messing around with register again for another ten or so minutes, manager told me to go to another lane. So I packed my cart up again and got in anothe line again. Nobody helped or did anything but walk away. One girl named Lexi stayed open to ring up my food before my milk went bad ( that is why I stopped buying ice cream). The manager was rude and un helpful. I WILL NEVER EVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. I will even change my scripts that they mess up every month to another pharmacy.

shoe department employees
Looking for a specific shoe today in Big Rapids. There were two employees in the department. Both were talking on their cell phones and neither acknowledges me. I went to the sporting goods desk and the gentleman there paged up front and they sent someone to help. Other two were still onphonea when I left. I would like to work at Meijer so I can get paid to talk to friends on cell phone.
back entrance to meijer w saginaw ave. lansing mi
You have just made my shopping at Meijer a hated part of my week. By making all of the lanes in the back of the store short lanes, people who shop for a whole week of groceries CAN'T check out in the back of the store. There is no room for checking out. Now I have to go to the front, check out and walk all the way to the back with my groceries to the parking lot. Yes I park in the back because there is no room in the front lot. Maybe shopping will be easier and more convienent for me the customer at Kroger.
badly stocked shelves and horrible employees
Went to get a few items today and nothing is socked on the shelves. No cheeses. No yogurt. No ice cream. Completely unacceptable. Close the doors. Also the worst deli ever! They get the orders wrong, half of them sit around or chit chat while there's lines, ask for thin turkey and get thick sliced honey turkey... Hate this location. Just close it. Lines are always always backed up into clothes and only 1 or 2 lines open.
very poor restocking, not enough cashiers
I have been a loyal Meijer customer for 10+ years and buy nearly all of my groceries, household, and health and beauty products there. This location, store 163, is consistently out of stock on many items I purchase regularly, and I have been shopping at this location for the last 2 years.
It is the absolute worst location I have come across, not only because every single visit I leave without something I needed because it was out of stock, but also because the lines are always ridiculously long. Maybe this location could do with some more cashiers, and also needs to seriously reassess their ordering.
My husband and I spend thousands of dollars a year at Meijer, but I am going to start giving Kroger and other local stores a try. Today's shopping trip, which was highly unsuccessful as they were out of stock on 7-8 items I had planned to purchase, was the very last straw.
bullying in the grand ledge, michigan meijer deli forced me to quit my job
My employee # WAS 2229466. My name is Cathy Burghdoff. I hired in with Meijer July 27, 2017. I am 60 years old and a retired nurse. I had to go back to work after 10 years due to a pending divorce after 24 years. I thought Meijer produce dept. would be the best fit for me because I'm a long time gardener and foody.
One employee who's been with Meijer 11 years and does the ordering and stocking for the deli bullies everybody. I was told that I was the 1st person in a long time to stand up to her. But after more than a half year in the deli she finally wore me down with her meanness. The first week I was in the deli I walked out because she kept insulting me verbally. The union got my job back for me. I began opening the deli several months ago, and since she starts her day earlier, I became her favorite target.
Others have walked off the job due to her bullying. She makes other employees cry because of her meanness. Formal complaints have been submitted to the store managers, but they don't do anything about her behavior.
I have to work into the foreseeable future and I really loved my job at Meijer. However, it became impossible to dread going to work because of one person who bullies everyone. I don't know what I'm hoping to accomplish with this letter, but I just want someone higher up to know how hard she makes working there for a lot of people. Thank you for hearing me out.
Dear Cathy,
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm a 60-year-old woman too and I hear you and I validate you.
I was a cashier at Meijer and started in 2017. I also was bullied. I left after a year and a half. It is frustrating and demeaning to be bullied.
Hope you healed and recovered from this experience. Take good care of yourself and continue on a healing journey. Sincerely, Sharon
cashier
I was in line for over 45 minutes, 3 registers open then a 4th opened once I got into a line. Cashier was extremely slow with everyone. I heard him under his breath say that "these people need to go home and stay there". Then once it was finally clear enough to start putting my items on the conveyor belt, I went to look for the plastic divider. The cashier had it and would not give it to me. I put my items up anyways, and he finally put the divider down and mumbled again that this is the kind of thing that makes him go slower. This was at the Meijers in Sandusky, OH. His name was Wayne B and was working register 23 at 6:40 p.m. Then to find out, my fiance was in there earlier and the Food Stamp thing was not working at all at this establishment and they Supervisor was curt with him because he was not able to do anything to fix the problem. Not an "I apologize or anything". The food stamp thing was working fine at Walmart, because he had to go there to get his groceries. We should not have to deal with this kind of treatment, nor should we have to wait on ourselves at the self check out. We do not want to go to work and then have to work more because of this new "check yourself out" idea. Hire more good cashiers.
cashier behavior
Attended store #210 in Grand Ledge, Michigan on Sunday 6/17/18 at noon. The cashier's name was Kimberly, according to my receipt, but her name tag says "Kim B." Kim was clearly having a rough day. As she was ringing up my items on the belt, the person behind me began placing his items on the belt as well. I had placed a divider between our items, but for some reason this really seemed to set Kim off. Every item he would place on the belt Kim would respond with one of two things: 1- "This is [censored]" or 2- "Jesus Christ!"
The only thing that made any sense to me is that Kim was upset that the other person was putting their things on the belt before my stuff was finished. Maybe she felt rushed. Our checkout lanes have the automated computer that tells the next person in line where to go. I had noticed that Kim was waiting until her lane was completely empty before she would indicate that she was ready for the next person. This gentleman may have begun putting his things on the belt prior to being told that she was ready. However, that is very common at this store since the line gets very long and people want to be able to get their things on the belt quickly. But as soon as he started unloading, that's when Kim lost it. I had my young son with me and I had asked him to go sit down on the bench near the penny horse because we don't talk like that around my son. I was just appalled at the language she was using and how clearly upset she was. I sure hope her day got better...
wic purchase
I had brought in a coupon for a WIC purchase for 4 items. 2 of the items were not being recognized as a WIC authorized item. After for the first few minutes my cashier who was unsure of what to do called for help from supervisor Donna who came across as very bitter and spent and upwards of 10 minutes trying to make my transaction as painful as professionally possible with comments such as "I don't know which one is the correct quart sized milk", "they don't require us to train on WIC", "I've seen other people find the correct one", etc. When I asked about substituting pint sized milks to build up to the quart and any other question I asked was met with a curt "no". It was overall a very frusterating experience for my family and I. Not only were there no indications of Meijer's preferences on any of the shelves, the checkout computer didn't seem to help and despite my working off of the state issued sheet that stated I had picked out the correct items, Donna was especially offputting. In total, more than 15 minutes had past while I was there with my whole family to include a 2-year-old. Humiliating. Next time I'm better off running my WIC purchases at Jewel. Again, this was this past Sunday, June 10th at 2pm.
customer service at check out lane
Store 251, lane 19, cashier BAILEY, 13:36:57 per receipt.
I was checking out with 2 pieces of clothing, when the cashier picked up my clothing I told her I did not want the hangers. She said ok, but next time I can take the hangers off myself in a snarky way. I said I, m sorry, Im the customer and I have never ever had an ISSUE with cashiers removing the hangers., they usually ask if you want them. Bailey said again, next time you can remove them yourself in a rude manner! I was taken back, dumbfounded and honestly embarrassed the way I was treated over hangers! 2 ! I paid for my purchase and she said in a fake polite way have a great day! She started checking out the next person, I happened to glance at the bagging carousel and realized the shirt I purchased was not bagged, sitting in the bagging area on the hanger! Now that was a clear and intentional rude act on BAILEYS part, I got the shirt, removed the hanger and handed the hanger to BAILEY and I got a sarcastic looking grin! First of all I go thru the cashier lines to support jobs instead of self serve. Second it was 2 items. Third, most cashiers ask if you want your hangers because stores recycle! Bailey said she didnt have a box for hangers and they throw them away., so next time I can remove myself! If I remove the damn hanger I am going to give it to the cashier anyway! This was just a pure, lazy and disrespectful gesture on her part! The more I thought about it I decided to call the store manager when I got home to complain. I spoke with Walter, I am 100% sure nothing will be done at all! He did not ask my name. I asked if he wanted my name he said no, we don't take names. I spend thousands of dollars at this store and I know there are cameras, and I know there will be no resolution to make me feel better or rectify this behavior!
customer service
I shopped at store #301 on 6/9/18. When I went to check out, all that was available was the fast lane(#104). I had 20 items which isn't a lot, but my knee is injured and I had to twist many times to scan and pack those items. Of course, I was stopped by the need of an attendent several times. As I was 3/4 thru my order, all of a sudden 2 regular lanes opened up, which everyone of course flocked to. This was so upsetting.
produce management
I have witnessed a few things that should be brought to the corporate offices attention! First thing was I witnessed Lindsay the manager tell an employee they were to punch out for break to use the restroom which I thought may be a policy, a few moments later I watched a young man come up to her with a coffee and the two of them proceeded to head outside together I was just finishing my shopping and went to my vehicle and I look over two cars away and those two are out there kissing. I don't know if she doesn't have to punch out for a break or not but she was extremely rude to her employee about using the bathroom then does this. I shop at Meijer because I thought you guys were better than Walmart maybe I was wrong. The produce department is the best around and all your workers are extremely friendly. I'm blown away that you allow your manager to be like that towards your workers! I have been back shopping since then and both times your manager was standing there with this young man and coffee holding a conversation and I couldn't find any organic bananas I looked around and saw 3 employees who were working very hard so I figured I'd ask her about the organic bananas. She was very rude to me and made me feel like I was bothering her or something. Another customer made a comment to me about how poorly I was treated I'm still in disbelief. I'm not one to normally complain but how I was treated really struck a nerve with me! I have a few small businesses around town and I buy my employees food from your stores a couple times a week! Your other two stores I shop at weekly are great and the managers are much more inviting and friendly they make me feel like I'm family. I can't help but wonder how poorly the shaver rd produce team is treated behind the doors.
meijer cottage cheese
Why did you guys change your cottage cheese? When you went from Orange container to the blue, it is the worst tasting!!! I will no longer be buying your cottage cheese!! I am very dissaponnted. I always shop at meijer but with more and more different options I could go somewhere else. I eat lots of it and always went there because you had some of the best. Not no more!

On 5/25/18 I was at Store #123 in Southgate, MI. Elizabeth rang up my groceries. I specifically asked her three times not to put thru the whole bill of $202.78 on my debit card just $150.00 and the balance I would pay with another credit card. She put thru the whole bill and said oops. She called a manager over named Michelle. I explained I needed the $50 to be put back on my debit card and I would pay the $50 with another credit card. I explained my bills would bounce. The manager said it wouldn't matter and I could bring my bank statement in if anything bounced. I got very upset and told her how will that help me now. I didn't have money for this. I have been a very loyal customer and shop at Meijer every week and have all my prescriptions thru Meijer and us MPerks. The manager didn't try to solve the situation at all. I will never shop with Meijer again. I was treated so bad I can't believe it. I wasn't offered anything for my inconvienence.
tropical fish department meijer store on haggerty road in commerce twp, mi
My wife and I shop at that store very often and buy most of our groceries there and many other items as well, to the tune of more than $300 a month. While there today I lost my temper (no shouting) with one of the managers because of what I saw in their tropical fish tank display of about 20 tanks. In each of the tanks there was at least two dead fish, several of which were sucked up in the filter intake. There were others on the floor of several of the tanks and probably a couple of dozen fish emaciated or in extreme distress. It was clear that many were undernourished. I pointed this out to this manager who was flippant at best, unconcerned at worse. She said the tanks are cleaned each morning. to which I asked her, "so what you are telling me is that all the fish died today?" If that is so, you really have a problem. She did order an employee to remove the dead fish but when I mentioned the fish needed at least an additional feeding a day she threw at me "we have this procedure we follow". I told her they need to change the procedure or my next action will be to call the ASPCA. I have collected Tropicals for almost 60 years and what I saw was beyond appalling! It was animal cruelty at it's worse and her attitude was particularly uncaring. My name is Ken Bertin. My email is [protected]@aol.com. My phone is [protected].
poor service, price increases, poor store conditions
We have shopped at Meijer's for at least 15 years on Hilliard-Rome Road. It has gone steadily down hill, even after the new remodeling. It was difficult to even find this complaint page...I followed the feedback site on my receipt and that led me no where. We, as a family are fed up. Customer service has been awful! Greeters that just look at you and don't say hello, pharmacy tech that made my daughter cry, and unkind clerk. I have avoided their names here, to remain professional myself. Items are frequently old, or poor produce, the floors needing cleaned (no matter the time of day), too few check out lanes, and the list goes on and on. Higher prices as well. I told this to one of the managers who checked me out one day and I stated that I was switching to Kroger. She merely stated that Kroger was more expensive. I used to think that as well, but have recently compared, and that is not the case, and their produce is much fresher and well presented. As a family, we are very upset over the years and will be switching.
the store director and the workers
I was in the store shopping the other day when I heard the store director John Jacobson making fun of another worker. He was speaking with another worker there as he was making fun of this co worker about how he is dressed. A store director of all people should have more respect for his workers and should be thankful he has help there instead of making fun of someone because they cannot afford certain things. You never know what that person situation is. I'm very displeased with Meijer, this makes me not want to shop there ever again. This needs to be addressed. I'm sure he talks about his customers the same way. I am shocked and saddened for this employee who is just trying to work to make a living like the rest of us.
unethical behavior
As me and my fiance were walking down by the lanes to checkout an employee asked if we needed to check out.. The problem isn't asking us if we needed help it was the way she asked. It was very rude. Then I had put my cat litter on the lane as I didn't think it was a big deal, and she rudely said next time do not put this on the lane. But it was the way she said it. She doesn't need to be working in customer service if she doesn't know how to speak nicely.
I am requesting a refund on my whole order. I spend so much money there. My order was 127. I can take myself to target and buy the same product. But I love meijer. I can print out my receipt. You can call me at [protected]. I am willing to talk about my complaint. The employees name was daesha.
