For all those who file complaints against sonic drive-in locations-
1. All sonic locations are not owned by the corporation.
In fact, few locations actually are. Most are franchised locations which are independent of the company with the exception of branding, recipes, and marketing. That being said, each drive-in is going to differ based upon the ownership and the general manger in place.
2. All locations are not the same.
There are quite a few locations which are run exclusively "by the book" if you will. These particular locations have excellent service and great food. One thing that definitely helps with customer service is to know exactly what you want before you even consider pressing that pretty red button.
3. You can complain against any one location by calling a simple and easy-to-remember phone number.
The call is free and your next order will most likely be free (To an extent) as well. That number is simple:
1-800-ok-sonic
This is the number for the customer service hotline which is offered through the coca-cola corporation. These are the same people that will take your complaints from wendy's, mcdonald's, or any other location serving coca-cola products.
A few little-known facts about the chain:
-sonic does not offer, nor do they endorse, warming lamps of any kind. Fries and tater-tots are to by kept for no longer than 5 minutes under a thermal glass lamp that looks exactly like a thermal glass cook top or stove. It is very hot and keeps those tots extra crispy for your enjoyment.
-our burgers and all other items are kept for no longer than 30 minutes. Don't get upset! If you like wendy's then you should know that they have been using this technology for years before us. It is called "infrared heating equipment". This equipment functions like some modern-day microwaves. There is a sensor located in this state of the art machine that measures the moisture inside a particular pan. When the product is no longer up to standard, it is discarded.
-most locations follow the "if you wouldn't eat it, don't send it out" policy. We do not ever serve anything off of the floor. All of our items are preserved at safe temperatures which prohibit the growth of bacteria and food-born illnesses.
-all locations must follow a strict sonic-safe policy that is endorsed and enforced by an independent organization known as "nsf" (National safety foundation). Each location in every state undergoes two rigorous audits each year where an inspector investigates all parts of the store and normal daily operations. The inspections are random and the store does not know when the inspector will arrive.
Most locations strive for great customer service and realize that the guests are who pay the employee wages. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly or that the location just isn't up to par, please call 1-800-ok-sonic and report the establishment directly to the big dogs. I assure you that every complaint is heard by numerous persons. The complaint process will go like this:
1. Call and speak to the representative.
2. Possibly receive coupons.
3. Rep. Files a categorized complaint which is sent first to the corporate office, second to the store owner, and last to the store manager.
4. Depending on the severity of the complaint, the owner will inspect the location. If the situation is bad enough, sonic corporate sends out either a regional representative or regional vice-president to handle the situation. If the location is too bad out of shape, sonic does what is called a full operational assessment where they come in with a full team of certified trainers. Each and every employee and manager is observed for one full week. During a second week, they are all retrained. A follow-up assessment decides whether to revoke the locations operating agreement with sonic or leave the location open.
Hope that all helps.
-a friendly sonic supervisor
Thanks to thevillian. I can remember the days that Sonic was booming. Unfortunately, many of our lesser locations have turned the general aura south very quickly for the good ones. I operate the store with the highest sales volume in the state of Mississippi at over $2.5M per year. I never have issues like this from my staff, management, or customers. I wish I knew what happened to those days where Sonic employees strived for achievement and customer service was #1. We still hold those values here in my neck of the woods. Apparently, some of these store operators should be coming to see us so they'll know how a location should be properly run!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Omg ijust had the worst experience at tone of oblate in sanantonio texas they refuse t let me speak to Manger and would not give me a supervisor number then th employees tree my drink at mee couldn't pik up the money ihaye her and was screaming at me never in my life have I been so disrespected they won't let the employee go no wonder they have such bad service
Does any one no how to get a hold of a supervisor
Springhill La Sonic has the worst service! My 4 yr old daughter could take better can they can! It's terrible! Then after you repeat ur order 5 times it's wrong! Poor poor service
I am 16 years old and I work at Sonic Drive In, in Church Point, La. I feel I was written up for nothing, I usually go on break at seven, but because it was raining at 4 when i i went to work. I caught a ride. At six a person with a car was leaving and 2 other people were coming on, I asked my supervisor (Aaron) if i could go on break at 6 so i could go get my my bike for when I get off. He told me no, so Went and got started changing the grease, he came to me and asked asked me " how was I gonna go get my bike". When I didn't answer him. He said " answer me boy" when I didn't answer him, he said if i didn't answer he was not gonna let me go.I guess he thought it funny and he threw a cheese stick in my face. At 7 seven he told me to go on break and made me sign a write up saying "I had a poor attitude and it will not be tolerated especially toward management because was I ignoring his questions.I just don't want to lose my job over this.
I frequent sonic a lot! However, I rarely go to sonic in coffeyville, ks. They provide horrible service. My pet peeve is when I'm given a total before my order is repeated. Why does thus bother me so much. When an order, even a simple one, is not accurate I'm given attitude. When I ask them to repeat the order I'm given attitude. One day they were so rude i asked to speak to the manager. The voice replied he was the manager. You may not get paid what you feel you deserve, but that doesn't mean you can't be good at it. After all, you took the job! I have had HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experiences here! I will go as far as taking out an ad in the paper. Your customers deserve better, and here's a reality...it's how you earn your tips!
Sonic Rt 9 (South Rd) Poughkeepsie NY. Sept. 15, 2014.
Crispy chicken pub sandwich... Tasteless all the way around.
Onion rings... oniions almost raw, greasy and coated with cardbord flavored batter far too thick.
Lime-ade... if you like the taste of genuine diet soda you'll love this.
all this for only $10 what a bargain!
new fries they serve at the UNIONCITY TN SONIC sucks, we work in front of sonic with more than 200 work force and a lot of workers quit doing to sonic just because the fries have changed go back to the old fries, i know your not saving that much money
i recently heard a story of managers clocking people out early and taking advantage of hourly workers illegally and falsifying charges on employees to cover food cost when the pay low wages taking in alot of money pointing to illegal activity and greed, doesnt seem like a good place to work at Odessa Texas Sonic...the training is as well poor and nobody cleans properly...located at North country code west ...illegal profitering over federal guidlines...totally taking advantage of employees...I sugest corporate to check this one out before it becomes an issue against a federal statute...which it may have already compromised
Regardless of whether these locations are "franchise" locations or not Sonic CORPORATION seems to be the start of the problem. Consumers don't care who owns the store, what they see is the sign in the front of the location. So the attitude that there are franchise locations and they can do what they want doesn't fly with me. It's SONIC's image! Try running an errand to go get product from another location, boss will clock you out and tell you to your face it's because if you get in a wreck they don't want any proof that you were on the clock - and they don't tell you aren't going to be paid for going, but they do give you $2 for gas considering it's only about 18 miles one direction all I can say is my manager must have thought I was taking a moped... The things they do to handicapped workers is beyond belief and worse than anyone would even believe if I posted. On another note... your comments would hold more validity if you would take the time to spell and read what you type. up above guidlines really, sugest this is sad and why someone is having to work at Sonic. Get an Education, pay attention to your spelling teacher.
I don’t care if this is a corporate owned or franchise location. I don’t eat the food due to past issues with the chain. However, I do drive through to pick-up a drink or a shake every so often. This morning, I stopped for drinks and felt obligated to take a few pics. It is obvious that this owner doesn’t “GIVE A CRAP” about what anyone thinks of “America’s Drive-in”. Wow! Really? This is the best you can do Sonic? I’m supposed to trust that food prepared by you, is safe to eat? NO! Not today. Judge for yourself. Location: 9014 E 350 Highway Raytown, Missouri [protected]
I would actually like to add a complaint... Sonic has always bragged about having millions of drinks but when you order a Mountain Dew the person taking your order says, "Sorry, sonic only carries Mellow Yellow." If Sonic has millions of drinks you would think Mountain Dew would be one of them. Just saying...
I will not eat at Sonic anytime soon. I worked for Sonic years ago and had to deal with a verbally abusive boss which was a horrible experience. I recently went to Sonic in College Station, TX which is next to WalMart and had the worst customer service experience ever. After my husband places his order the manager pressed the button to repeat our order, but she hit the button to soon and we heard her say that my husband sounded GAY! I couldn't believe what I heard. She then lied and said she was referring to someone else but after questioning her, she admitted that she made a mistake by thinking my husband was a gay that she knew. I don't have anything against gay people considering the fact that I have friends who are but I do have an issue with disrespect and bad customer service. The worst part was she said she was a manager. Sonic should learn how to treat their employees as well as teach their employees to respect their customers.
This so unprofessional how a general manager would fired a person who just started working and it's they first job . That's so wrong just because they had a compliant that don't mean fired them that's they first Time working . The manager is very disrespectful and rude .
SHE SHOULD BE FIRED HERSELF .
A friend of mine is deaf and wantsto go to the nearest sonic but is too embarrassed to go. What do you have for deaf people assistance?
Sonic in Lone Oak Ky. absolutely terrible. All shakes are vanilla, regardless of what flavor you order.!
This is regarding the Sonic in Wellington Kansas. I worked at this Sonic for 7 years. From the age of 15 years old. My husband also worked here for several years before we both move on to better paying jobs. When we worked here it was managed by a wonderful man who died a few years back. His pride and commitment to his store was like no other. His expectations for his store and of his employees was like no other. My husband and I used to run the store occasionally on Sunday afternoons with the two of us and 1 carhop better than they can run it now with a whole crew! It is sickening to go there and experience the poor service, poor quality in their food and the lack of effort to get the orders correct! The wait time is beyond what would have been acceptable when we worked there! Its a complete disaster now days and the entire community would agree. I wish I could go in there and start firing, hiring and show them how to run a good successful Sonic. They are not doing this at all! Seriously makes me sick! I hope someone does something about this because its pathetic!
Don't have no sugar free on the menu at all not a place for people who have to watch there suger intake
I always go to the Sonic in Bay city Texas (2601 Avenue F, Bay City, TX 77414 ) to get my Super sonic. That day I saw the Maneger (Drew Smith) Smoking "Weed" i know he was smoking that because i pass by in my car fast in the back of the store and i smell that. It is weird that in The Sonic they dont do drug test. The service that day after i saw the maneger it was terrible. A guy name Jonathan he give me actittude when i ask him for Ketchup and some salt. This employers from sonic need to have a smile in their faces. The maneger always look in a Bad mood on monday's
Very disappointed. Took the kids for a Friday night treat. Waited aprox. 35-40 mins for our food. All the cars around us got there's. Had to press call button to ask where's our food at. When we got our food it was cold and stiff, like it's been sitting. I got the impression that our order was made and forgotten. :( :( We went to the one on 6th Ave. in Tacoma, WA.
Went to Sonic in Lexington on 7/31/15 after work, it was around 10:30pm. The first problem I noticed was that they were allowing a gang of noisy, erratically behaving teenagers to run all over the premises, yelling and treating the area like their own personal playground, getting far too close to other vehicles in the process. It was pure chaos and to make matters worse, most of the carhops and even the worthless slug I later found out was the manager on duty were facilitating and encouraging this behavior.
I ordered a simple large milkshake, paid with my debit card, and proceeded to wait. And wait. And wait. In the meantime, cars that pulled up far later than me were receiving their orders, most of them milkshakes from what I could see. I waited a half hour before summoning a carhop to my vehicle where I told her how long I had been waiting. Showing no concern for how this could have happened, she just asked what flavor I wanted to which I replied to forget the flavor, I just wanted my money credited back to my account and a phone number so that I could contact corporate to report the horrible service.
She went and got her manager on duty and I repeated the same sentiments to him. In the end, I got my money back with forty minutes total wasted and my calm severely damaged by the unruly teenagers who couldn't sit still or keep their mouths shut. This particular Sonic used to be a semi-regular stop for me on the way home from work but not anymore. My tolerance for incompetence has grown too thin.
So sonic in Windsor just fired me for going to the hospital with my pregnant wife because she was having complications with the baby and I needed to be there...Billie Richards is the worst person on the planet they made me work for 2 months without a day off and now they fire me for being there for my unborn child what kind of business does that she's gonna get a real slap in the face though she's got a lot of reality coming to her I was wrongfully fired for no reason...gonna use my sonic money for a good attorney... I have over a dozen ppl willing to sign a petition to shut the store down

They always mess up my order. Even when it's simple like 2 things. Strange girls working there and nobody that I've seen working there looks dirty. I've complained before. Did no good. Guy just said sorry and walked off. Then the guy that works outside there is creepy

Me and my family just left a sonic drive thru in Athens Al very dissapointed and digruntalled. To start things off wesat in the drive thru for 23 mins to find out we was waiting on a lil hot dog after sitting and watching my sons chicken strip dinner sitting there for 17 mins we finally got our food and we never got straws for our drinks nor did we get a apology for having to wait so long
And the manager was no better than the employees and food was cold a few Fry's with chicken strip dinner and one onion ring we will never be back to sonic again and we will deffinatly do our part to spread the service we had there around and not one time a offer for money back or a coupon or anything.🏧😡😡😡😡😡😡
This message goes to the Perryton Texas Sonic Drive in. My husband went for lunch at 2pm today 9/17/15 tried to pay half cash and rest on our card, told him they were unable to run it because Sonic doesn't take money like this, the computer wouldn't take our money either way, Took food back and threw it away. So we went to McDonald's were they did take my money! I called Sonic to ask why they couldn't accept our money, she told me they could have split the check, so why didn't they do it while he was there, she then said we just threw the food away and we could go back and try it again. Ps train your employees in the obvious take cash subtotal and remain balance with card. My husband was told that the system doesn't work that way.
The absolute only time we ever go to Sonic is to get the real fruit slushies when one of my kids has a sore throat. Last night I was once again reminded of how much I despise going to this establishment. It took at least 5 minutes for someone to take my order once I pressed the red button. I ordered 4 slushies, it took at least 20 minutes to get them, once we got them they were semi melted which to me meant they were sitting there for awhile. Why must it ALWAYS take this long to be served something so simple?
Sonic, Lemon Street at Orangethorpe in Fullerton/Anaheim California.
I received a text sayng it was national wing nice and was excited to go to my local sonic here in fort lupton Colorado where i was informed they where out of boneless wings i was very upset considering it was only 530pm and the sale started at 5pm i rarely go to my local sonic cause they are always messing up my order and making me wait 20 minutes for food after this experience i will not go there again
sonic drive in junction city Kansas had roaches in there kitchen all in food, don't go there it's nasty and I know because I used to work there had to leave cause had to many roaches
At the Sonic in Hebron, Kentucky, I waited 11 minutes last night for two 6-pieces of boneless wings. After 10 minutes, I got out of my car in the drive-thru and went inside to ask them what the problem was. Apparently it takes them over 10 minutes to make fresh boneless wings. The woman at the drive-thru window completely ignored me, while I was trying to get her attention after 5 minutes of waiting at the window. Instead, her and this other gentleman were goofing-off in the kitchen. Who has 15 minutes to wait in a drive-thru? And worse, I was the ONLY car in the drive-thru at 6:45 PM.
I hate your TV commercials . Those two ---holes that do them for your company are the most sickening so call actors I have ever watched . Trust me I am 65 years old and have seen plenty . They are so bad not one of our friends would never buy your product because of them, We all agree watching a commercial like yours .
Sorry > not for me, but for you doing these sick TV commercials . I better stop before I go to far . Please trust me on this . If I do not hear from you I will continue to share my thoughts with different avenues .
i went to sonic last night...i get to the window and i said i have 2 orders..he ask if there was a car behind me..i said no..he said it will be a minute for the 2nd order...i said ok...i waited 8 minutes for him to take the order..3 cars in the drive thru...1 left with just drinks ..i get to the window and pay 5.90 for the 1 st order..come to find out it was for a burger...thats not what i ordered...my second order he said it was a 40 cent charge for cheese and that the cheese doesnt come on the burger 1/2 off, i told him thats false advertisement...i ask them for corporate number and there names...the young guy said hed come thru the window...i took that as a threat...he said i can refuse to serve you...i said fine..i want my refund...and corporates number and there names...he said if i didnt leave the drive thru..they were calling the cops..i said go ahead because you made the threat ...i sat there until the cops came...they ended up arresting my son for disorderily conduct...for what ...my son never said anything until that guy made that threat...of course you cant thrust police..they never ask what happened...they were on such a hard on for my son because he didnt have an i, d...i will never ever spend a penny at a sonic...this got so out of control and not on my part...and false advertisements to say the least...all sonic has to do is check the video and the timeline for all the time i wasted there...im sure they arent going to do anything about it...but i will get them aall over facebook...twitter, instragram...its all social media days...hope they keep losing business...more and more people are compaining and im sure i wasnt the 1st yesterday...
Sonic in Pensacola, Fl on Pensacola Blvd...is the slowest SONIC you could ever visit...I have waited there at least 30 mins the last two times I went there in the DRIVE THRU (I am not going back here)...After waiting this long they still serve you cold food. Only 2 employees working while 3 others were sitting on the tables just hanging out doing nothing! Terrible Management of this place; they will end up closing down like the other Sonic on Pensacola Blvd did if they dont make changes FAST!
I went to Sonic in Carrollton, Missouri and ordered 2 drinks it took over 30 Min to get them the service is extremely slow. I decided I will never go back again. If I had not paid for the drinks I would of just left.
Lol...sonic is probably not a good name for them anymore..when you think of sonic you think fast..like the super sonic..lol!
The worst Sonic ever at 4500 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC. I ordered a standard cheeseburger combo after waiting to place my order for an unacceptable amount of time. I couldn't get tots because they had run out the day before. Next, I waited and waited and waited for my food. I was within 2 seconds of blowing my horn as well as my top. When the carhop finally arrived she didn't ask if I needed any condiments but I did get the obligatory candy mint on top of my drink. The burger was ok but the fries were stale and tasted like crap. Next, the carhop came by while I was eating and asked me if I had paid. Well, I did pay using their credit card reader at the drive-up. She finally believed me then went her way. Then, as I was about to back up and leave someone pulled up directly behind me blocking my car so that I couldn't get out. Why, I had absolutely no idea. There was no possible reason except that it may be standard treatment for customers at this Sonic. Then, I had to blow my horn to alert the person to move her car. As I was leaving and wanting to dispose of my trash, the trash can was way out of arm's reach necessitating my getting out of the car and dumping it in the bin. I finally got away from the place vowing never to return again.
Sonic drive-in murphy texas has the 2 can eat for $9.99 2 foot long or 2 hamburger or 1 of each and the woman that took my order got it all messed up trying to tell me that i couldn't order it like that that i had to order either the 2 hot dogs or the 2 hamburgers but i couldn't mix or match then i told her i just did it the other day and she flat told me i was not telling the truth so as she proceeded to do the order my bill was $18.82 and i said no way i ended up spending 30 minutes trying to get her to get the order right even after she came to the car talking face to face but still didn't get it right so i get out of my car and went to the door and spoke to another young lady and finally got it right after about 45 minutes of trying to make 1 order so if you are going to hire people at least make sure they know the menu before work cause that can cause an issue with me at least cause i am a 4 day a week customer and that makes me not wanna go back to sonic and i feel that i should have gotten something for all the hassle for the mix up of the order but i didn't even get a sorry from the manager so it makes me look at that sonic differently now
Very frustrated with the Sonic on Eastgate Blvd, Lebanon, TN. We order Jr. Deluxe cheeseburgers all of which were burnt and could have been used as hockey pucks. We drive from Mt. Juliet because this Sonic is usually awesome. 😞
We can't stand your commercials with the two [censored] men in the car. The new menu board at the car hops makes parking feel to narrow. And to top that off no more java chillers. Enough is enough, We're done with eating at sonic.
We went to sonic in york as ..the people are so slow it isn't funny we ordered 2 banana splts in a cup we ask 3 time they came back with the boat .so they took it back and got it right finally after waiting 35 minutes and not one sole there other than us to be waited on and got home the cup didn't have any banana and only half full we will not go there again they act like they don't want your business well they don't have to worry we won't be back I will go to dairy queen a little far up. The road but very friendly and at least they get the order right the first time and don't leave you waiting for ever to get your food ...he'll just to drive thru to get a drink that one we went took them 45 minute for 2 drinks
went to sonic @7pm tonight ordered 2 6in hotdogs &bacon toaster sandwich got the order & went home, the hot dogs were ok but the toaster sandwich had no meat at all on it
i was so mad i will never buy any thing from this place again, sent my daughter back to sonic to have it taken off my credit card. NO MORE SONIC FOR ME...
The Sonic is in moore On 12 th street I dont Trust Anybody like this to mess with your food so irresponsible like this. ben
They Sonic located on Central Ave. in Belton, Texas really needs to retrain their employees or at least their cooks. I ordered a #1 cheeseburger with only ketchup, mayo and light mustard. I got a #1 cheeseburger with heavy mustard tomato and lettuce. I also ordered a #1 cheeseburger with mustard no onions and no pickles. I got a #1 cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, lettuce, pickle, onions and tomatoes. When I called the shift manager's response was bring them back and we'll replace them. Well, it is not that easy. I also have a boss that allows for 30 minute breaks, my co-worker and I had to deal with it and eat the burgers we got. People in fast food wonder why they can't get $15.00 an hour. This is why!
