claims department refuses to reopen claim from defective/faulty item replaced
December of 2015 My Nissan Murano car needed a transfer case replacement after a accident. To cut the story short, the claims department of State farm approved the claim. very unfamiliar with the process they said we can choose any shop to bring the car. We choose the Nissan Dealer because we want a genuine part to be replaced in. Estimates were done and the car was repaired. They offered some modifications such as a switch that will over ride AWD when engaged unneededly but state farm declined as well as we did. We felt that as long as we drive the car properly and does not use the AWD unnecessarily then the switch is unneeded and will not cause the transfer case to bad, the mechanic conformed. April 2016, 4 months after, my car malfunctioned and broke down suddenly driving home and I had a bad feeling it is the same part since the sound I hear during the breakdown was the same. Facts: After the repair I never engaged my AWD anymore and just drove ~ 3000 miles after repair. I called the dealer and said I am going to tow the car back, the part should have a warranty and that time they said it have. After 2 weeks, phone calls done back and forth from the insurance and dealer, I got different answers on who should be responsible for the costs of replacement. The dealer stated that state farm decided and dictated where to buy the part for replacement, which was LKQ company which when we looked it up in the internet take parts from high mileage cars and refurbished or sells them used parts with high mileage on them, then when I called my Insurance agent she said state farm never dictates where to buy the parts " they just pay the settled payment and bring the car to its working form prior to the accident".The dealer have been insisting that state farm have dictated where they should buy the part, it was used/defective and it was not a nissan original part. In our estimate papers, it stated "NEW", but unknowingly a refurbished part was placed in my car during the repair. The part was being covered by the warranty but not the labor, the dealer recommended to have my insurance involved since they were the one who ordered a defective part from the start. I called multiple times, one time they tired to call me and my husband initially but did not leave a VM, called back the same day ( May 21, 2016) the girl I've talked to, didn't knew what was going on so she said " I will have to review the papers again and I will call you back", never heard from here probably because it was 30 mins to there closing time. May 22, 2016 I called our Insurance agent trying to explain again that I feel the claim should be re opened because looking at the situation the part was defective from the start disregarding the " switch" modification, this is another case. I also explained that state farm is 100 % denying the claim of my dealer that state farm totally was in charge in where to buy the parts. Our agent recommended to go back to the dealer, have a phone conference with us present, the dealer shop and the claims department. May 26, 2016 we went to the Nissan dealer in Downers Grove, IL, called our agent and she connected us to the claims department. The The service manager, the service specialist who was in charged of our vehicle from the beginning, me and my husband was present in the conference call. The manager explained in detail to the claims department about all the facts in the documents regarding the past repair, he can't really say that if the switch modification was put in then the transfer case should not have broken but the main issue remains that if in the start a genuine nissan part which was declined was installed the 1st time we are secured about the standard and will have a labor warranty. He stated the my transfer case item was badly broken after 4 months because it was not the recommended part installed. We strongly provided the claims department that the fault should not lie on the consumer but either to the insurance ( who dictated what item and where to buy) or the company where the item was purchased. The other end agreed but ( as usual) he can't make the decision and will have get his manager involved and in 1 hour we will be notified what will be the outcome. Mind you I had 2 days off ( with no pay) to have this call( May 25 where my agent had a day off so we cant have the call and may 26) and then tell us, "I have to review the case with my manager". At the end, state farm did not approve because in there statement to us they allegedly claim that because " we declined " the switch modification the item should not have been broken. They did not acknowledged that the refurbished item that state farm bought to replace mine was defective from the start. they won't even go to that subject. The switch is another issue here and they found a loop hole where they can BLAME THE CUSTOMER TO AVOID PAYING WHAT THEY HAVE CAUSED FROM THE START. In the end, my husband called this At the end, state farm did not approve because in there statement to us they allegedly claim that because " we declined " the switch modification the item should not have been broken. In the end, my husband called this State farm manager VALERIE MAJKOVICZ to just give her our thoughts despite we know her decision will be never be reversed. She demonstrated lack of empathy and obviously her work is to make sure state farm does not loose money at all cause despite having the truth in consumer side. We know we can never win against this big insurance companies, but agents themselves should advocate for the truth and stand by their promise about " CUSTOMER SATISFACTION". ( State farm sent us a copy of a Non original equipment and recycled parts promise letter that states **** we'll sell the parts repaired or REPLACED to your satisfaction -at no cost to you***).
auto insurance
State Farm Agent Amanda Blackburn in Leo, Indiana was instructed to lower my collision deducible. Instead, she lowered my comprehensive deductible. When a claim on my vehicle arose later, State Farm refused to honor the lower deductible even though there is a clear digital trail showing the changes I requested. They are dishonest and incompetent. Don't ever use State Farm for anything. I have switched insurance companies and have filed complaints with the BBB, U.S. and state attorney generals' offices and am leaving reviews everywhere possible. The only way to make unscrupulous companies like State Farm change is to stop using their services and make their flagrant dishonesty known far and wide.
roadside assistance
Fri 4/1 called road side assist. Waited over 5 hours for a tow truck to arrive. Paid $165 towing bill which I could submit for reimbursement. As of 4/7, I have been passed around like a hot potato. Apparently, there is no reimbursement recourse when I "chose" to go further than the nearest service station. Unfortunately, service stations are not Walmart, open 24/7. They had the nerve to tell me I could have taken my car to the nearest, closed mind you, service station and put my car keys in a drop box. Despicable. Spoke to Donna Moyers at corporate today. Maybe she can shine a spec of light in my veritable black hole.

deanne-employee for this office
I am a lender for a local bank in The Lake Charles, LA area and I spoke with Deanne at Jim Mitchell's office for a State Farm last week. When she answered the phone I told her my name, she said "uh huh" I said you don't seem too happy to hear from me, she said, "what is it now?" I told her the customer I was calling about, a mutual customer we had been working with to get flood insurance. I informed her we would need the customer to purchase an additional 5k in flood coverage to cover our loan amount plus loan fees. She had a fit and went on a rant saying the customer was unhappy with our bank and she could see why. She said there was too much back and forth with the amount of coverage needed. I told her this is the 2nd time her and I spoke and I don't think it was a terrible. She said she wasn't going to argue over what we thought was bad or not. She said the customer was unhappy and would talk to the the manager at the bank. I told her what I needed and she ended the conversation with hanging up on me without saying goodbye. I can not believe the horrific customer service I received from that phone call. I have received better service at Walmart, and that is no exaggeration. I am appolled at her behavior and will never ever recommend her service to anyone. I am a State Farm customer myself (with a different agent thankfully) and I know the employees at the a State Farm I deal with would never behave that way. Regardless of how our mutual customer felt, that part is my responsibility, not hers. I don't need her telling me what's right and what's wrong. She handled it totally unprofessionally and extremely rude. I spoke to my customer 10 minutes later and she was not upset about the additional coverage. I offered to go down to the office and take care of it myself so she wouldn't have to take off from work. She said it was only a $5 difference and she had already paid for it over the phone. I fully expect Deanne's behavior to be reprimanded immediately. I would never allow any employee to treat anyone in that manner. That is a horrible way to solicit business.
insurance claim on a 5th wheel.
Our 5th wheel was caught in a flash flood. We filed a claim with State Farm. The comp they used was not for the same RV, they also did not add that it was a high profile RV with over $4, 000 in options. State Farm used Auto Source located in an other state who said they couldn't find any RV in our area to compare it to. That's funny because we found several. We sent them comps of RV but would not use them. The money they are offering us would not let us buy a comparable RV. They are trying to low ball us.
home insurance
This past September I had hail damage to my home and I filed a claim. State Farm's handling of the incident has me wishing that I had never filed the claim. So far I have received 4 different checks. 3 of the checks were made out to me, my wife and the mortgage company. We had to endorse the checks and send them to the mortgage company who will eventually send to me a mortgage company check. The mortgage company required that our signatures be guaranteed by a bank. Okay, I understand that the guaranteed signatures was not State Farm's doing but 3 checks made out to the mortgage company sent at different intervals. My wife had to take 2 days vacation in order to achieve this. I bought the insurance, I paid the insurance bill each and every month (50 years) but have very little control over the claim at all. I would imagine that all insurance companies will handle things pretty much the same but I need to let off some steam. Here it is almost 5 months later and I'm still dealing with this matter.
agent with a cavalier behavior
State farm Insurance Complaint Board To whom it may concern My name is Lanny E. Jackson I am launching a complaint against Tamika McLauren one of State Farms agent; who has displayed a unprofessionalism attitude at its worst; I am a Co-signer of a 2012 Honda Civic alone with a Torrie Homan. Our car was hit by your client driving a Grand Caravan alone with another car here in Birmingham, AL.; when your client ran a stop sign hitting both cars. State Farm agent, a Tamika McLauren handling the claim filed; claim number 01795M548 involving a State Farm client; who ran a stop sign causing the crash. The agent involved have shown a disregard in the relationship of other non-State Farm insurers and their insurance company with the insisting to those at no fault filed all damage claims through their own insurance. Ms. Tamaika seems to insist and hell bent on Torrie file damage claims against her on insurance company; All State our insurance company. It also seems your client was sold under insured with a $25, 000 property damage claim insurance policy; which is not our business, our car is total out and we still with a car note to pay. I am noting understanding; why we have to jump through hoop for an accident we did not cause, or, wait for the third car hit, which is a Pepsi Cola Company commercial vehicle to file a claim, which may or may not be filed, it’s was not our fault and we should not have to wait on someone else in solving this matter. Ms. Tamika, have displayed a very disrespectful and unprofessional attitudes in representing State Farm toward my daughter-in-law to be. Your agent nasty attitudes and has shown no compassion toward people feeling; who just lost the only means of transportation at no fault; who must go back and forth to work and daycare. In away almost refusing a rental car in very nasty tone and insisting Torrie file the claim on her insurance to pay for the rental and all car repairs. Your agent, Ms. McLauren, the next day after the accident; Ms. McLauren informed Ms. Holman, State Farm will no longer pay for the wreaker hauling and storage fee and demanded that Torrie remove the car from the wreaker yard; even before State Farm adjusters had gone out and made any assessments; after the fault of the accident had been establish with your client running the stop sign; striking our car and the Pepsi Cola Company car. Her cavalier behavior has been unconscionable. And I seek some kind of action on this matter. Lanny E. Jackson 1011 41st street (Ensley) Birmingham, AL [protected]
I returned a call to Tameka where she left no claim number. She was exceptionally rude, cut me off, and refused to speak to me without first obtaining a claim number. I have State Farm as my insurer and, if I deal with her again and she behaves this way, I will move to another insurance company. her behavior and attitude is unacceptable.

On December 8, 2015, I had just installed my DC license plates on my brand new 2015 GMC Sierra Denali pickup, parked in front of my home, and was finishing placement of the inspection sticker when I noticed someone trying to pull out from behind my truck. I went to the rear of the truck to guide her but, before I could do that, she hit the rear bumper. I was standing right there and saw and heard the impact. Her right fender, already smashed in (from some previous accident) had left a small scratch and some of her black paint on my truck’s left rear bumper. I asked for her insurance, which she gave to me. It listed “Miranda Grigorio”, which was apparently her husband’s name. She denied having hit my truck and said the scratch and the black paint was just dirt. (The scratch and paint are still there.) I reported the incident to State Farm, her insurance company. A week or so later someone came and took a picture of the damage. The State Farm claim number is 20-778F-426 Today (December 28) I received a letter from State Farm saying “we do not believe our insured was legally liable for your damages.” It further states: “Our insured’s statement that they (sic) did not strike your vehicle is supported by the pictures we took of each vehicle.” I called State Farm earlier today. I was told that they stood by the letter (cited above) since I did not call the police on the spot. ( I noted that it was not clear what difference that would have made since the lady denied that she had hit my car.) I asked to speak to a supervisor and noted that I would make known State Farm’s outrageous position known online as widely as I could. Amazing that a person and her insurance company can avoid responsibility simply by denying that something had happened.
auto policy transfer
I relocated to Lubbock, Texas in the May of 2015, to begin graduate school. Once my financial aid dispersed, I was financially able to transfer my auto insurance policy from Florida (the rates in TX are higher). Once the Texas policy was written however, it did not cancel my policy in Florida as it should, in order to link the two together. Instead no vehicle insurance in Florida was being reported, thus causing my drivers license to be suspended. Which was brought to my attention by a potential employer on a background screening. Now, State Farm has admitted their errors and "submitted, " the necessary paperwork to their underwriters, though the issue has yet to be resolved a week later.
refusing to pay for damages
On the afternoon of Oct 7, 2015, a State Farm policy holder entered into his parked vehicle, started his engine, and proceeded to pull out without looking. He hit my daughter's vehicle causing $1, 180.00 in damage. At the accident scene, State Farm's policy holder told the police officer that when he put his car in drive, he looked in his rear view mirror, did NOT look to his left but proceeded to pull out from his parked position from the side of the road. This resulted in his vehicle hitting my daughter's vehicle which also had a 5 year old child riding in the back seat at the time. The police report states that State Farm's client hit my daughter's vehicle when he pulled out from his parked position. However, on November 25, 2015, State Farm's Claim Team Member, Milton Mack, made a decision that fault should be shared. He said the decision was based on their recorded conversation with my daughter. I corrected him by stating that my daughter had NOT spoken with anyone from State Farm and should NOT have to speak with anyone from State Farm as they had the official accident police report. When he said the decision was final, I asked for his manager but our conversation was disconnected as the line went dead. Their motto states, not only do we do what is legal, but we also do what is right. I say their motto is, they do what is right for their client and what helps their bottom line. The desired resolution would be for State Farm to pay the total vehicle repair damage of $1, 180. The accident was caused by their policy holder and admitted by their policy holder to the police officer at the scene of the accident.
coverage
I have been a customer of State Farm for 20+ years. I have to say that my agent has been great, and no complaints about him and his office. My husband and I own five cars (we have 3 teenagers), a boat and also home owners insurance and a life insurance policy. In the last few years, we have needed to utilize our insurance due to a few accidents (mostly not our fault). We just received word a few weeks ago, that State Farm is dropping us as customers. I am in disbelief. I have always had the highest regard for State Farm, but not anymore. Isn't that what insurance is for? I pay a large chunk of money for insurance, and am very disappointed in State Farm right now.
renters insurance
A bag loss/theft claim under Renters Insurance has not been resolved for months and the investigator has made an inappropriate request. My daughter filed a claim for a bag loss/theft at the airport in August 27, 2015. The claim was immediately assigned to an investigator who has a history of not returning phone calls or email messages. After waiting 2 weeks to hear from him (as he promised) on the final status; I sent him another email and asked for the status. He replied and requested me to send my daughter to his office so he could take her recorded statement. I never trusted this sleepy/unreliable investigator so I refused to send my daughter over to his office for security reasons. I filed a complaint against this investigator's handling of the claim with State Farm's corporate office and I was told someone would get back to me with 48 hours. It has been over a week and no one contacted me yet.
my state farm agent lied
I switched from my former company because the State Farm Agent lied to me. Had he told me the truth I would have stayed with my old company. But he assured me that THEIR practice will not be raising their rates every year. Well they do. So I called the agent and told him he is a lying SOB. The I called State Farm put in a complaint against him and asked to...

claim handling and poor representation
I was in a car accident on August 8th, 2015. The incident occurred due to a commercial truck being parked in a residential area blocking over half of the road way forcing drivers to drive up and down the wrong side of the road to enter and exit the cul de sac as well as making it impossible to see anyone coming in or out of the cul de sac. Myself and another driver hit driver side fender (him) to driver side bumper (me) after trying to enter/exit the cul de sac that morning. No one was injured, very minor damage was done to both vehicles. A police officer was called to the seen and stated that he himself could attest to the lack of visibility when entering and exiting the area and proceeded to tell the owner of the commercial truck to move his vehicle and to not return it to that spot or face prosecution. Since then I had filed a claim as well as the other party. I tried numerous times to contact my assigned claims rep, Giselle Leguizamon, who waited until the 28th of August to finally return my call. I learned over these passing weeks that the other party had filed a claim against me stating that he felt it was my fault, that I hit him and was recklessly driving; he also filed a bodily injury claim. I got the police report for Temple Police Department which stated that we were both trying to enter and exit the cul de sac at the same time and collided due to the fact that there was no visibility because of the commercial truck in the way. He did not give fault to either party in the police report nor wrote either of us a ticket. The claims rep told me that she felt it was my fault because I shouldn't have tried to go around the truck while exiting the cul de sac. She said that I unlawfully drove around the truck and that my actions led to the wreck. She then explained to me her reasoning for this: she stated that I should have stopped, called the police and had them remove the truck from the residential street. This truck is parked outside of the owners home, which is to the right of my home. The street that I live on is, at bare minimum, a two lane residential street in a one street subdivision. On this one street subdivision over half of the occupants have one if not multiple cars parked in the street because the driveways are very short and narrow; this is an older subdivision. I then asked the claim rep if for now on what I am suppose to do is stop every couple of feet and call the police to have a vehicle removed from the street so I don't have to drive around it and put myself in the opposite lane. She said, legally, that is what I should do and that is why SHE chose to blame me for the incident. I then contacted Temple Police department and asked their advice and to state that one statement on the police report was not correct and I needed a revised statement. That statement being that I had backed out of a drive way and drove towards the entrance to the cul de sac. They told me they would begin working on a revised statement. I then called the claims rep back to let her know of this to be told that it was too late because she had already decided to fault me for the accident, filed the liability, and she could not take it back now. I also tried to offer pictures that had been taken to be told that she didn't need them. What insurance company doesn't want photographic proof from both parties of an accident? She then informed me that what she could do for me is accept the revised report so she could try to overturn the surcharge that I was going to be charged for HER citing me for the accident and that mabey that might keep my premiums from going up. Through this whole process, not one time has my rep called me and asked me for anything concerning this wreck nor has she tried to start the process of fixing my truck. The only thing anyone seemed to care about was the other party, who was also represented by State Farm. I was not properly represented by the insurance company that I have been with for over a decade nor was anyone concerned with getting an actual statement from me. The claims rep only considered the other parties statement, who later after learning the police report stated there were no injuries, retracted his bodily injury claim, and never once actually tried to get a actual fact based statement from me. In the end I was told it was my fault, I was only informed that they were putting all this on me and not once to this company even try to investigate this incident. I never once got an appointment with a field adjuster, never once had anyone even ask me what happened. I will be filing a claim with Ga Insurance Commissioner and taking my business elsewhere.
