Personal was incredibly rude about completing simple customer service transaction. They refused to give the happy hour deal even though meal was purchased at the adequate time. When my party asked to split the bill as we normally do employee said she wasn't able too. Employee then called manager. Manager complained and mumbled underage breath. After refusal to split the bill I said u would pay in full the manger said they wouldn't be able to apply the happy hour deal. The service and attitude of personal was overall of poor quality and exemplified pure disrespect. The managers last comment was, this is why we don't split the bill and apply happy hour, it's infantile"
gift card fraud
In November 2014 I received a $25 gift card to Steak 'n Shake for my birthday. On 5/02/2018 I discovered that Steak 'n Shake had depleted (stolen) the entire amount due to inactivity. The card was never used. It is against the law (KRS367.890) in the State of Kentucky to charge dormancy fees. Any person who violates this law is liable to the holder for any amount that the redemption value of the gift card was reduced, and court costs incurred, and reasonable attorney's fees.
milkshakes
Hi,
My cousin and I both went through the drive-through the other day to get milkshakes! We so looked forward to your shakes because they were always so creamy and smooth. Well, the other day when we got milkshakes, we both were terribly disappointed because both of the shakes...I had the birthday cake shake, she got the plain chocolate milkshake, were so, so grainy and it ruined the afternoon with these grainy milkshakes! It wasn't just one or the other's flavor...BOTH of them were bad. I don't know if their machine is broken or not, but please bring the creamy milkshakes back! We went to the location in Melbourne, FL on 102.

We got chocolate chip pancakes (which were quite good), biscuits and gravy (bland and full of flour), and the frisco melt (which tasted very very bad). By the time we left, we were feeling a bit bad to the stomachs and within an hour later we were nauseous. We did not get physically sick, although we did get otherwise sick in a different manner a few hours later. We are not going there again! The waitress was great, though.

Went to steak and shake on prospect Avenue and I ordered a single steak Burger meal through the drive-through when I pulled up I heard laughing over the intercom so I decided to say can I have a single Steak Burger meal for 399 no 1 heard me so finally she asks what I would like so I said Single steak Burger meal with everything on it and she said the double steak Burger meal with everything on it so I Was frustrated after i had to keep repeating myself and said h*** no the single Steak Burger meal for 399 then the employee decide to laugh tgen say maam please dont talk to me like again.So i decided to go in.
While i waitedi saw all employee standing there laughing then pointed me out. A manager came and ask how can he help me i was irritated already so since my voice was high do to employees standing behind laughing i was told i had to leave. Employees should be always act as if it is a job not a playground. And always treat customers right.
I will never go back to this steak and shake again until they get some older or mature employees. Also manager was not understanding was very judgemental instead bad business.

On April 28, 2018, Saturday my son and I went to have diner at the Moline, Ilinois Steak 'n Shake. We arrived shortly before 4pm and it took an hour before we finally got our food. Let me tell you that our order was not extensive and would require any extra time to cook/prepare. It appeared that there was only one person on the grill. It is unacceptable to make customers wait an hour for their food. Also, to not let them know what is going on with our food as we sit and wait. My time is valuable and this is not acceptable.
My order number was [protected] and was $14.02. I hope you seriously look into this matter as I am very upset . I had to change my plans for the Pit Pass at Monster Trucks which I had spent $20 for because I was waiting on our supper.

I was in the Clarksville Indiana Steak N Shake on April 28th. I am complaining about the service there. I walked in about 8: pm and there were about ten tables occupied and about seven waiters and waitress in the restaurant. I stood there for ten minutes before they would seat me and my guest, all the waiters and waitress looked at me and my guest but did not come and sit us. Someone came in after us and sit at the counter and they waited on him immediately. I was not happy about the service, the Steak N Shake in Clarksville Indiana needs to train there people a little better then they are. I do not want anything from the restaurant just get the service in better shape.

We really like the food and the service is friendly but the place has been pretty dirty the last two times we have dined in. We had to clean pur own table both times, one of the times it was rather busy but one of the times it was not at all.
When I went to pay this last time, I couldn't put my purse down to get out my card because there was stickiness from shakes on both areas.
Last, the place could really use a remodel. Or at least a minor rehab. The stale smell kind of hits you when you walk in.
harassment at my job
I have been Harrased by 2 co-workers at my job. I have told the managers and they told me they will talk to the 2 female employees but I have not heard anything from them. I feel scared to go to work after they told me they would beat me up.
I want someone to talk to the managers and end this situation as I have done nothing to these 2 females.

I just left steak n shake in Wentzville, got home to eat my food and the hamburger is grossly overcooked! By the time I took the hard crisp edges off it leaves nothing, I work hard for my money!
I eat at this place all the time normally it's good, not today.

We visited the Steak and Shake in Algonquin IL. Sat at the drive through speaker waiting to give my order for 20 minutes. The drive thru person finally took my order and was rude about it. As I pulled up to the pick-up window again rude service and the people working were all goofing around and not getting orders ready. I said to the lady we have been in his drive thru for 40 minutes. She replies "yea, sorry we a bit backed up tonight." Rude, i will be going to alternate restaurants versus a Steak and Shake. The purpose of a drive thru is convience and this was a total inconvenience.

Which is why I am trying to contact your office. The food was great. The store is in need of a manager to take control. The floor was greasy and slippery everywhere. The dividers between booths were disgustingly filthy. Looked like they haven't been cleaned in a year not something you want to sit by or touch while eating your delicious food. We told the manager when we paid how terrible the service was, he said sorry. However never asked the problem or what went wrong, obviously cared less. Cannot improve and become successful if no one cares to find out the problem. Cannot figure a solution or prevent it from happening to others if manager couldn't even ask us. Seating us took about 7-10 minutes, not even alot of people there. Servers kept passing us not making eye contact or saying someone will be with us soon, just felt ignored. We gave it a chance though. Our server Nicole visited us once! Our food arrived with the bill! Husband had to get up to get silverware, then later to get refills. When she did come and check on us she asked if everything was okay. My husband brought to her attention the fact he had to basically serve himself. She said sorry in a manner of sarcasm and walked off never cleared our old plates or trash out of the way. This was a big deal since my children were still eating but my husband and I were finished. They also had their hearts set on milkshakes to go. However the bill was brought with our food arrival, no one ever asked or tried to make the store anymore money. The kids did get milkshakes, but we went through the drive thru, as crazy as it sounds. My husband could hardly handle being in there. I have gone out of my way to write this in hopes you will save Troy Ohio's Steak n Shake from themselves. It is dirty, service/management terrible, they are missing out on extra money simply by just not asking. When the food arrives by bringing the bill immediately, they are losing out on possible extra sales already at the very beginning of the dining experience. Please help them I don't want to see it go out of business.

I was at your Steak n Shake this past Friday, April 20, 2018 in the drive through at 10:45 pm. We were behind two (2) other vehicles and there were others lined up behind our car. We waited in line for approximately 10 minutes because a young teenager was horsing around while ordering and when he finally pulled off and the person in front of us ordered we pulled up to finally get to order only to be told they were closed. First of all it wasn't 11:00 pm and Steak n Shake is advertised as being open 24 hours. We only wanted a drink and that's what we told them they still refused. We left only to pull around and young teen at window was busy talking with the teenagers that were two cars ahead of us. We leave and drive back by only to see the drive through lined back up. I'm furious as we frequent Steak ‘n Shake but if this is the type of service we can expect to receive going forward we will not step foot in your establishment again. Word of advice I would give your employees some education on customer service especially the employee who turned us away because they were to busy socializing with their friends rather than doing the job they were hired to do.

My boyfriend and I visited the Steak n Shake (No.282 on receipt).
When we arrived, it took 5 minutes for a worker to even acknowledge us even though there were several around. Once we were seated, we asked the waitress if we can mix flavors for a shake. She was unsure so left to ask. 10 minutes later, another man came up to our table asking if we've been helped. We asked to see our waitress. She came back and we asked about the shake and she didn't even go to ask the man during those 10 minutes. We then ordered our food. A different waitress had to bring our food out because our waitress was outside smoking and on her phone. My meal was not how I asked but that was the least of our problems.
We then asked to pay with card and the waitress never came back. We went to the front to ask someone else.
We had a very poor experience, even though we love Steak ‘n Shake, we are unsure if we will be returning to any.

We frequent your restaurant at least once every 2 weeks.. We have never been in and out under an hour no matter what time and we always order as soon as the server comes.. The whole staff has filthy uniforms, cook looks disgusting, while the store does not look any better.. Last time we went was the worst ever, 2 tables walked out because the servers didn't even go back to serve them after they were seated.. We do not like to complain, we have put up with a lot but I have to say something after this last time..
When we first walked In, this server was leaving and laughing and being very loud saying that nobody was going to fire her, "it's not like the managers would cover my shift " cussing and being very loud.. My husband and myself have ran restaurants for over 10yrs and if she is ever there I will not go back.. The other two servers were leaving every table dirty on purpose, moving very slow and talking about people leaving was good because they were ready to close at 10pm.. The girl dropped our food of with receipt and never came back to check on us, my fries were covered in a mound of Cajun seasoning and she gave me the wrong shake.. We always expect something to be wrong when we go but this was horrible all the way around.. I could go on and on.. I just hope somebody steps in or I can see this location being shut down very soon..
drive thru service
Where do I begin... from sitting in the Drive thru for 45 minutes. Then getting to the window for them to ask me my order becUse people left and they didn't know what I had ordered. They gave me the wrong stuff when I got home. So now I paid for 30$ worth of food I won't even eat. Horrible horrible service. Us 31 and stop 11 in Indiana. I am so disappointed and am very upset that no one bothered to apologize or help me fix this issue. This needs to be fixed. Now. I would like a refund on what I ordered. And before you ask no I don't have a receipt they didn't give me one.

I visited steak and shake in fort Myers Florida aroud 4am on 4/22/18, I pull up to where the menu is and they take your order in the drive through. I pull up to the speaker and wait for 3 minutes with no response so I backed my car out, and pulled back in thinking Maybe the sensor didn't recognize my car or something. So after I pull back up the woman (after waiting in silence again, ) responds with "ill be with you in a minute." Which is fine, I've been to steak and shake a bunch of times and it is a little slow compared to other fast food places. So when she was finally ready to take my order (which took 10 minutes of me sitting there in silence waiting for her to be "ready, " even though not one car was in front of me in the drive through.) I told her I wanted to to the 2 for $3 deal but I wanted to substitute the ketchup and mustard for mayonnaise because I have a food allergy. She responded with "no, you can't add nothing that's why it's $3." I wasn't asking to add bacon I was asking to substitute one condiment for another due to my food allergy. I responded with "are you being serious?" After that she refused to serve me and said I have a nasty attitude and she wasn't dealing with it. But I literally did nothing wrong. I was just questioning if she was being Serious because I've been there many times and have not had any issues and they've always been accommodating in my past visits. I do understand that is it 4am but that doesn't give your employees the right to treat paying customers like garbage. I was so disrespected and it is not acceptable to hire staff that behave that way. I got refused service because I have a food allergy and got accused of having an attitude problem, when in fact the attitude was the other way around. I will not be back to this establishment until there is a resolution.

Have been to this Steak n Shake multiple times over last year (2018) and was appalled at the way manager treated employees. She has harrasses and yelled at employees on two different occasions in customers full view. One employee even left irrate at her verbal attack of him and she blocked his grill and berated him for not cooking. Tonight she was confronting an employee who was 39 weeks pregnant and berating other employees for helping her again in front of customers. This is very appalling to view as a customer. Will not return to this location again.
noise level/ childish behavior
I'm currently at the SNS in Cape Girardeau, MO. There's a group of about 25 people talking so loud that out waitress had to lean in and have us repeat our order. Management would not step in even when asked. Not coming back to this one anytime soon. The noise level on the video was the quietest they have been in 15 minutes. Also, the floor is absolutely disgusting. I understand that you can't sweep between every customer, but it is disgusting.
