I booked an suv Mon 4/3/17 for Fri 4/7/17 pickup 9:30am. It is 4/7 & 1:30pm & I still have no vehicle. Have been told 3 times a car would be at 10:30am, then 11am & 12pm. I just called at 1:30pm & they are waiting on cars from the airport? I was ask if I would take a full size & agreed, only to be told the same answer, waiting for that too! I have never dealt with such unorganized rental service as I've had today.

I rented a vehicle from hertz at the Amsterdam airport. After a ten day stay I returned the vehicle to the same place. I handed in the keys to a friendly young man, asked do you need a walk around, no, have a nice day. Two months later I get an invoice along with a black and white picture asking me to pay 225 euros for damages. I couldn't see any damages at all in the picture.
So I ask for an explanation. Nothing, just another invoice. I was hounded for a year and then sent to collections despite several attempts to contact hertz. Very bad customer relations. I'll go out of my way not to rent from them again

Cancelled my reservation after I left home on an international flight. I was not notified until april 6. I am reading my email as I'm writing this. I am stranded alone and stressed. I am stuck in a small hotel room. I will give hertz until the end of today to try and fix this. I have contacted my lawyer already so if its not resolved everyone will hear about this. It is immoral. Hertz is a very large company worldwide... I'm very disappointed... :-(

We were in a accident over the weekend in Indiana. My Husband has a VALID temporary Drivers liscence as we await his license in the mail with updated address. WE successfully rented a car in indiana this weekend with my husbands Valid temporary license. we are now scheduled to go back and pick up our car and our insurance approved us to use hertz to rent our car one way to go back to Indiana. We went to the Hertz on 28th st in Grand Rapids Michigan and the Branch Manager Chris Ellis was absolutely uncompassionate and very rude. we expressed our desire to rent a car one way. He told us NO we could not do that. i called the 800 number to verify and they said yes corporate. Mrs. Ellis tells us that wed have to figure our which branch in Benton Harbor is corporate because he wasn't going to do it.
Fine, he then states that all of the forms of photo Id we gave ( which we just used in Indiana) were not sufficient that he need us to go get passport for picture. We go all the way home to get it and come back . The passport expired March 21st we showed with several other picture ids along with our claim info from our insurance and he denies us with zero regard. ITS and insurance claim rental, we just rented two days ago in another state. He didn't care we asked for his crd he smirked and said good luck with our complaint.

In 2009, August, I rent a car in Switzerland and gave it back at the Schipol airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
At Schipol Herz branch I had to pay 1500 frank(not sure exactly),
and it was clearly written on the paper that
the currency was Swiss frank and not Euro.
So I said to the lady I will pay 1500 frank showing the paper.
But the lady insisted me that I had to pay 1500 euro.
I showed her several times the paper and said that it was not euro but frank.
But she insisted that I had to pay 1500 euro.
At that moment I luckily had internet reservation paper so I gave it to her.
And she disappeared to the office discussed with someone there
and came back and said to me 'yes, it is frank.'
And I paid it with euro.
I expected from her a kind of apology, but she didn't say anything.
She insulted me so seriously insisting that I was wrong and I had to pay 1500 euro (much more than 1500 frank), as if I am a cheating barbarian,
but when it turned out to be that I was right, she didn't express any apology.
So from that time on I never use Herz, and in the future neither.
I wrote it at that time also, but I didn't receive any answer from Herz.
Today I occasionally visited here and write it again.

Hello,
I recently made a reservation for a car in West Covina branch on Garvey.
I had already reserved a Mid Size vehicle for 1 week- with a $25 coupon promotion I received through email from you guys.
When I arrived at your location there was only 1 rep. at 2:50pm.
He rudely told me that there were no more Midsize vehicles because I was late!
He told me I had to get a full size car.
I've delt with this rep. before and I do not want to ever use Hertz at this location for any type of service. I am a manager for my company and I would never stand for this from my employees. Your employee needs to work on demonstrating proper people skills.
I am a friendly person who gets along with everyone. It takes a lot for me to take the time to write this email to complain about someone. But the way I was treated, I felt it was necessary. This is the second time this employee has been rude to me. The first time I just figured maybe he was having a bad day. Also I wasn't the only person he was being rude to. I needed this vehicle for this week and now I will be forced to rent a car from somewhere else.

I reserved a car on 3/30/17, talked to representative at pick up location after reserving car online. On 3/31/17 my Son left work 4 hrs. early to take me to pick up car; once there was informed since it was not a corporate rental that was a problem and when he checked again I did have a corporate setup, also the use of my debit card was problem. Non of these issues were mentioned prior to pickup and you people do a credit check how stupid is that?
I've rented from Hertz, Avis, etc. for over 35 yrs. while I was working with Exxon, Conoco and Aramco and not one time did I ever have the problems I had today. I'm retired and I only pay with cash and have been doing so for the pass 10 yrs since I invested very well and do not have to rely on credit cards like most people, yet Hertz would not take my debit card which had thousand of dollars available. Also, my son had leased from Hertz twice in the last 6 weeks and used his credit union debit card with no problems. What bothers me is money was not an issue but Hertz, is telling me I have to be like most Americans and have a credit card. Well shame on Hertz. I went to Enterprise and had no problem leasing with my debit card.
In closing, I/we had stopped using Hertz about 10 ago and now I know why. My son who is 23 just received a $3, 000 credit limit on a credit card and he stated he will never use Hertz because of the issue we had today. He wanted to lease the car for me, I told him no, lets go elsewhere and we did with no problems. I have money and that's what companies want but, you value those with credit cards which means nothing only a credit limit.
Remember, Cash is KING.
I'm so thankful, I can sleep at night and the only bills I have are utilities. No car note or house note only a debit card and cash.

On Monday 3/27/2017 My husband and I had to get our car serviced since our Dodge Dart was having transmission problems. Browning dodge set up for us to pick up a car at hertz in Ontario off of jurupa Rd. We were greated by a gentlemen named Curt. I told him we were there to pick up a car gave him our last name and gave him our drivers license and bank card. Right away he said he had a Nissan Versa. I told him we couldn't take that vehicle cuz our insurance would only pay if we were in a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep.. He said all he had was a truck, I told him we did want a truck, he told us we had to take the truck and that we needed to get insurance for this truck for $31 a day, and that if we did turn the truck back to there facility we lose our deposit..I kept asking him if he could find me a smaller vehicle then a truck with the other hertz facility's in the surrounding area.He said no that there was nothing for us besides the truck. I told the man that I didn't have a problem with waiting another day so they could find me a smaller vehicle.Curt said that there wouldn't be a vehicle the next day, he was very rude and demanding that we take this truck. Curt asked my husband to sing the contract my husband said no find us a car and I will sign. Curt was very precestent so my husband checked our bank and found out our deposit had already been withdrawn from our account even though we had not agreed on any vehicle.very unprofe. We asked Curt to cancel all transaction, by now it's after 5pm I told Curt that I would call him back the next day to see if someone turned in a car..
We left hertz, I called Browning Dodge and explained to them what we had experienced. The dodge service department was so understanding and offered to take care of this matter themselves that they would call us back when they found us a vehicle..
Browning called us back in 10 minutes with a vehicle at the hertz from corona. They made arrangements for us to pick up a vehicle in the morning onTuesday. Which we did the customer service at this facility was awesome compared to hertz in Ontario. We were out of the in a hour.
unauthorized credit card charges
We gave our car in service and were using rental car from HERTZ in July 2016. Once our car was fixed, we were told by Hertz to leave the car in Adams Collision parking lot and someone will pick it up from there, soon after this information was provided, I had called Hertz and I was advised to drop the car at their center.
The next morning, I was very frustrated and I took the car to the Elgin Hertz Location, completed all the paperwork and handed over their rental car to them. Needless to say, the manager of that facility was very uncooperative and rude (no such thing as great customer service with them).
Now we keep getting bills from Hertz to pay $350.00 for the tow charges on a car that never got towed. We are not being provided information or documents to prove which car they towed. Their customer service department is not able to assist.
They have sent the bill to collections and now there is a notice that came in the mail today stating they are rescinding our privileges to rent from HERTZ. I am very disappointed with the way this matter was handled.
Although everything got done the way I was directed to, HERTZ is not able to show the proof of what they towed and continue to ask me to pay the tow charges.
I am very close to filing a law suit for harassment and unethical behavior, but I am going to first try and resolve it by submitting a complaint and a letter to CEO.

On Saturday, March 25th, I arrived in Norfolk VA. at approximately 11:45am. I had a reservation, Confirmation # H2271359099. There were two ladies working the counter. The younger of the two was on the phone with a customer. The older lady seemed preoccupied, causing me to wait an extremely long time. At the time, I was the only one in line. Another lady came up in the Gold line. When the older lady decided to wait on someone, she chose to wait on the lady in the gold line, but that lady told her to wait on me, since I had been there for quite some time. I gave her my license. She told me I had to have a business card from the company that reserved the card, since it was a direct bill. I don't have a business card from that company, since I'm not a full time employee. I am a sports broadcaster and was enroute to announce a sporting event. I have done this many times, for ESPN and numerous other entities and this was the first time I was told that I couldn't rent the car because the wrong person could be picking up the car. I was the one the car was rerserved for and the name on my license matched the reservation. When I questioned It she said it didn't matter and if I continued to question it, she said I could sit down and wait to talk to a manager or if I continued to question here, she would call the police. I did not curse her or anything, I just asked about the policy. She then said I needed an e-mail to show that I should have the car. I did have all the info that was sent to me, including flight info along with hotel info and car rental info in my phone. At this point she said she didn't want to wait on me any more and told the younger lady to take care of me. I feel she was having a bad day, and I told her so. As a company that puts emphasis on customer service, I feel she needs to be retrained. In addition to being a sports broadcaster, who travels constantly doing events months out of the year, plus being a tour bus travel owner, I know people can be trying at times. But all it takes is a little smile and patience in dealing with the public. I'm writing this so that this lady can be talked to about her attitude. The other lady, the younger one, who did help me, was pleasant, smiled and took time to explain everything. To me she gets high marks in customer service, but the older one needs to go back to training or get another job.

booked car for 3/18/2017 through 3/21/2017. res. # h2261983991 prepaid 73.48 needed to pay 36.93 manager would not rent to me said my card mas not same. So my daughter shows up a day early, but called several times from Jacksonville before boarding her plane to Austin, Texas to arrange pick up of her rental a day early...as shevarrives at 10 pm. To Austin airport location of Hertz she is made aware that the hotwire reservation could not be changed, where she was supposed to pick car up tomorrow in Dallas for a week rental. After the clerk was able to get hotwire to cancel the reservation and then try to help my daughter the $ was tied up on the card. She tried to split payment for new rental on two cards but could not do that, nor could she pay cash. My daughter was traveling to work the PGA TOURNAMENT IN DALLAS THIS ere WEEKEND and supposed to be on the course at 7 am today Wed March 22, 2017. After several hours and her sitting at the desk crying her eyes out at midnight a fellow passenger paid for her rental and she gave him her only cash she had since bot only did the hertz clerk cancel her hotwire agreement but the monies are now on hold for 3 to 5 days which leaves her with no monies the entire trip. My daughter is a stroke suvivor and is lucky to be here. She has struggled and managed to overcome so many obstacles in her life, but things that upset her to this length and her deficiets became more obvious as she tires. I am so aggravated at the policies and the fact that managing a body shop for 5 years, i KNOW THAT THINGS CAN BE CHANGED and or waived by the employee, but yet NONE OF THESE THINGS WERE DONE AND DEPENDED ON A TOTAL STRANGER TO take my daughters cash and help her. Not only will social media know that the policys can be waived but the difficulties in changing or adding ONE LOUSY DAY TO SOMETHING!

I told the hertz people that I had to put air in the tire passenger back side and then the next day the low tire pressure light came on saying add air to the left driver front tire . The tire was flat when I got off work I called road side assistant, guy came put air in tire, air would not stay. The road side assistant guy and I took the rental car to another hertz location and was getting another rental car .The lady whose name was Tina she was at the Dayton International Airport hertz which is located in vandialia Ohio, she was just nasty like I delivery put the nail in the tire, she tried to say that rental car was due be back two days ago I told her no one called me and said anything she tried to say it they called 8 times I said no one called me.Rude service not nice

I booked a reservation online. And I received a confirmation number. When I got to the location they told me they didn't know why the hertz system let me reserve online because they were sold out of cars. I told them I have a reservation number still they said they could don't anything and left me without a car. I called the 1800 number of hertz they aplogoized and said they were him a look for a vehicle in a surrounding location. And they were sold out as well. I normally rent thru avis and a friend recommended me to use hertz. First time making a reservation with hertz and it was a awefull experience I was left with out my vehicle which was a weekly rental. I missed my mandatory company meeting do to not being a vehicle for transportation and got a write up from my job with a final warning. My hotel charged my card because it was less than 24 hour cancellation. So I lost allot of money and almost got fired this is a huge issue with me and I would expect some kinds of a response back. Hertz Location Manager Michael(would not give me his last name)at the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport would not take my wifes Debit/credit card without filing for a credit check first requiring a hard hit against out credit score. Outrageous! I read him the exact verbage on the Hertz Las Vegas McCarran International website that stated it was perfectly ok with proof of a returning flight coinciding with our reservation and 2 forms of ID, which she had showed him. Michael still declined to honor their reservation for her and my 13 year old daughter a car for a soccer tournament over the weekend. when the website says one thing and the unsympathetic egotistic manager says another, then the system is broken. Now you've lost our business forever and we have to fight the credit check to get the hit taken off. I write with great disappointment not only regarding the product you have rented me, but the costumer service I have been provided with. I rented a VW beetle at the Hertz on Baum in Pittsburgh, PA for a three month rental which I was excited about. While the details below are lengthy, I hope you take the time to understand my frustration.

Almost immediately I began to notice that the car remote was incredibly sensitive and would often take multiple attempts before unlocking - fair enough, things happen.
Day 1: On Monday 3/15, I woke up (in a snow storm) to find that my car wouldn't unlock - frustrated, I called your customer service (on my way to work since I was now late), who would not allow me to set up an appointment to have the car jumped/ taken a look at (It's 2017, this should be an option by now). Hey - not the customer service reps fault as she has no control over your system capabilities. What frustrated me the most out of this interaction we had - zero empathy, zero solution, and when I mentioned that i'd like to be reimbursed for my 2 Ubers that day, I was met with a pessimistic and very rude attitude. Customer service is everything in this day and age.
Day 2: Trying to be scrappy I looked on youtube to see if there was a way to unlock a VW beetle without a visible keyhole (another recommendation that wasn't provided by your customer service rep). I got in the car and surprisingly it wouldn't start - what do you know, that's 2 more Ubers to total 4 unnecessary rides. I called customer service again and they sent a lovely tow truck driver from AAA (he had amazing customer service). It was confirmed, my car battery was not reparable, and I would need a new one. Lucky for me, the AAA driver had one that I could purchase from him and I could be on my marry way. WRONG - I called customer service who told we that I would not be reimbursed for the perfectly good battery that could be installed right then and there. The solution was that I would need to go all the way to the airport in rush hour traffic to pickup another car. With evening plans (and lets be honest - who the hell wants to sit in traffic when my car that I rented should be operating perfectly fine anyway).I refused and get to do this ring around the rosie tomorrow morning.
Ways in which this has been a huge inconvenience:
Customer service reps have zero empathy and have lack of solutions - Train them!
The fact that I cant set an appointment for future tasks - Evolve!
I can not be guaranteed the same type of car, and those "comparable" are not comparable at all - Then give me a better car!
I was asked to drive over 30 miles to get a new car (HUGE inconvenience). - This shouldn't even be an option
4 unnecessary Ubers which I expect to be reimbursed for - Pay the customer back. No questions asked
I couldn't take care of this issue myself by simply being reimbursed for a battery. - If a solution presents itself, take it!
Needless to say, I am not excited to have to do this process all over again tomorrow with hopes for a better solution.

We booked a midsize car rental to be available at tampa intl airport on fri feb 24th, 2017 @ 11:00pm to be returned on sat, feb 25, 2017 @06:00pm - also car insurance was purchased in conjunction for a total of $57.84
($39.84 for car rental + $18 insurance)
We arrived at hertz’s counter at 10:20 and stood in long line for about half hour, just to be denied the car rental we were asured to be available - no need to confirm is stated.
First, the rather rude clerks requested a $200 deposit! we were led to believe that all payments were made through hotwire and no deposit was required! however, even when we were ready to make the deposit using either of our credit/bank cards the clerks refused to accept them, and one of the main reasons is that we were not flying out of same airport! well, we were going on a sea cruise out of tampa and just needed the car for a day to visit a 90 year old aunt…. we were going to return the car to the airport! why do they care if we fly out of tampa or not? make no sense!
There was no reasoning with these rude clerks – and in addition, we could not use the car insurance that was issued through hotwire - alliantz – at $18, as stated above.
So here we were, paid for assured services – but no services were rendered!
We ended up with a great service from enterprise and they even upgraded our car to compensate for hertz’s abuse!
They did not even ask for a deposit and were extremely helpful and polite!
We demand a refund for the amount of $57.84 - for services not rendered!

I had a reservation for a Uber Car to be picked up last Friday which I reserved 48 hours before, i called the location on Archer ave in Chicago and they told me they didn't have a car yet and would call me, I never received any calls and it's already Tuesday, I called yesterday and got lectured for something I did not do to a previous car that I rented and was told that No Uber Cars were in and would get contacted, I never got contacted again and called 3 different times today and no one answers the phone. When can I get my car that I reserved?

I went to the Big Bear City location and was harassed. What "customer service"! The owner cussed, yelled, and slammed the door in my face. When we sat down, she said she had to get the milage of the car that had been just taken back and I asked her if the cars are washed between each guest. She became very rude and hostile, saying she only washes them during the summer and I asked if we could see it before renting it. She wasn't happy but said fine then lead me outside, where she unlocked the car then went back inside. While walking us outside, she said it doesn't matter to her since she might not even have the business tomorrow. I asked her where do I drop off the car then? She says "you'll find out. Maybe here. Who knows." Super aggressively. We were looking at the inside of the car when another guy came out and took it. She had rented it to someone else! We were literally looking at it for five minutes (coffee stains everywhere, what appeared to be throw up stains on the seat and dirt was everywhere.) I went back in to tell her we were still looking at the car and she said I never came back into the office. I said I was barely out there for five minutes and she never came back out. She started cussing me out and trying to push me out of the door while proceeding to shut it on me. I held it open and was bewildered by her attitude! She told me to "F" off and screamed at me that she wouldn't rent to me. I told her I was trying to visit a family member who was dying and she said oh well practically. Then with a last scream of her not renting to me, she told me to get the f out.
