car rental extra charge cancun rental record# f1883270
Hi,
I rented a car throw retalcars.com on 14 April ref: [protected]
the price quoted to me was 1348.68 mxn
the minute I walked to Hertz office I had the impression that Hertz is trying to get more and more money out of my pocket.
1. Insurance - they asked for 55 dollars per day after arguments they offer 25 dollars per day (cdw2 collision damage/ deducible 20% / day 538.76 x 2 = 1077.52), the representative told me I have to take this insurance.
2. The explanation of the different types of insurance was not presented to me in writing.
3. After the representative forced me to take the insurance I saw the Hertz special exchange rate to dollar 21.5503 (the actual rate was 18.55). Hertz did not accept to charge me in American dollar. Additional 1077.52 mxn
4. Then when I saw the contract there where additional service charges /taxes additional 678.91mxn as I wanted to cancel the rent Mrs Kelly wrote on the contract that I will not pay these ridicules extra charges.
5. When I returned the car I had collision damage that was estimated by Hertz employee at 1800 mxn.
I disagree as I had purchase the cdw2 collision damage.
The answer was this insurance of 1077.52 mxn cover only if car Is stolen.
Finally I was charged in my credit card with 4, 175.48 mxn
In total I paid for the 2 days rental 1348.68+1077.52+4175.48 = 6601.68 mxn
I EXPECT AN EXPLANATION AND CREDITE OF THESE OVERCHARGES

excess
We hired a bakkie from the above company on the 14 April and on the way to returning it on the 16 April had a minor accident. I contacted my insurance who is Dial direct and they said should hertz call me I should give them the Dial Direct Legal department contact no. After a week of the incident nobody from Hertz contacted me I decided to give them a call this morning and asked for the Manager at the East London Airport department and said when I returned the vehicle I was told that she would contact me the Tuesday 18 April and to date have not heard from her. I am now shocked that they are taking R6500 from my credit card for excess whereas this was not mentioned when we hired the bakkie. My excess on my insurance is R1800 is it possible that R6500 can be for excess.
miscommunication and poor customer service
My fiance rented a vehicle through priceline with Hertz. We arrived at the
Hertz (600 Terminal Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL) after midnight on Saturday, April 15. Our reservation number is RR163063784. When we arrived to the counter the representative was very nice. He asked us if we wanted to upgrade our reservation for an additional $5/per day. Since is was only $5 dollars we went ahead and did the upgrade. We both asked the representative multiple times confirm it was only $5 to upgrade. He kept saying yes. On Sunday, April 16 my fiance saw a charge on his card for $477.00. We went back to the airport which was out of way to resolve the issue on Monday, April 17 around 12:15pm. The representative only suggested trading in the vehicle for our original reservation. I asked to speak with a manage but she stated he was busy on conference call. She said that we could not be reimbursed the the additional amount we had already paid which I was not happy with considering we were lied to by the representative on Saturday. That day was my birthday and we had plans so we traded in the car and received our original reservation. Both cars were dirty on the inside and the second car we received smelled like smoke. I am asking to be reimbursed the $123.95 we paid under false pretenses.
poor customer service and the car itself
Hertz is the worst car rental place I ever rented a car from. First we had to wait in line for I've ran hour because you all only had 1 Representative working and it was a long line. Second when I did the reservation I specifically told the Representative I needed the rental until Tuesday. Instead she put in for me to return the rental today. Now I'm getting the run around and other Representative are telling me there's nothing they can do and they would have to charge me an extra $200 to keep it until Tuesday. You all customer service is horrible and I will not come back to Hertz again and I will definitely make sure I tell everyone I know not to rent from you all as well. You all do not cater to your customers. The bottom line for you all is money.
$50 fee to cancel reservation
I had to cancel reservation No. H2750920301 due to unforeseen issues. This is the first time I cancelled a Hertz reservation and was told there would be a $50 fee to cancel. I called more than 24 hours ahead. They told me it was a guaranteed booking but I didn't notice that during the booking process. I'm certain that I'll never book Hertz again if the fee is not reversed. My Gold Plus Rewards number is [protected].
car rental
I rented a car from the Tallahassee location via Priceline. I paid the car rental in full. The rental car was not open when I rented the vehicle. I left the car on the lot and returned the keys in the drop 5 or 6 hours early and never received my security deposit.
I contacted the customer service number who advised me to call the branch directly, they couldn't help me. I contacted the branch and the manager was to call me back. I still have not received a call or refund. I have rented cars from Hertz mulitple times for months at a time and never had a bad experience until my last two rentals. date of rental---- 4/7/2016 rental
second rental issue- 4/7/2017
I rented another vehicle on 4/7/2017 from Hertz at Atlanta airport. The vehicle was not serviced or checked prior to renting the vehicle. The vehicle light came for for anti-freeze. I called roadside assistance and the hold time was so long, so I had to purchase the antifreeze and put it in the car. I was attending a wedding and could not be late so I could not wait for roadside assistance.
the car rental place itself
I went to the hertz in memphis, tn on covington pike and I requested a certain car back in the beginning of march which gave them enough time to have it shipped, brought, drove or whatever but they called two days ahead of time "twice"! And said oh your cadillac cts is here what you requested and just give us time and you can come get it bout 2. After arriving after 2... I don't know if it was the manager but she was very loud and unprofessional and also it was a lie because my cadillac that was specifically ordered a month in advance wasn't their
dangerous rental
I rented a car in Jacksonville Florida from the Hertz on 4/11/17 at 12620 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. The clerk repeatedly tried to persuade me to purchase their insurance. I declined.
The next day I drove the car to Jacksonville Beach and back to my sisters house. Upon arriving at my sisters house, she noticed something hanging from underneath the front end of the car. Pictures attached. Apparently someone, Hertz dealer, used duct tape to reattach a piece of the car. I called Hertz and they told me to reattach the pice hanging with more duct tape, drive the car to Jacksonville airport which was 40 minutes away and pick up another car.
This is awful on so many levels. The most terrifying is that if that piece of car that was dangling flew off while I was driving my three children home from the beach, we could have been seriously injured as well as caused injury to others.
It was clear to me that the Hertz dealer was the one who taped the piece and that is why he so fervently tried to get me to buy their insurance. He was hoping the duct tape would hold and he could blame me for the damages after I returned the car and went home to Connecticut.
Clearly I will never rent from Hertz again and I will tell everyone I know to do the same. When I returned the second car to the airport, the line was so long that I almost missed my train home. Every other car place moved their customers quickly, but not Hertz. I should have been able to drop the keys and go as I was told when I picked up the second car, but they clerk didn't put the info into the system like he said he would.
I think I should be refunded for the whole rental but probably won't even get a reply. Sad.
fraud scam avoid
I rented a car 30/03/2017 for 7 days at Lanzarote aeroport . On counter the lad Insistently offered me to purchise an extra insurance for 90 euros, I refused him, because I ordered additional insurance when ordering a car online for 46 euros. The car was damaged all around on the date of issue, and little dot on drivers door wasn't noticeable on the car as that car has dark grey color . I'm 100% sure, this company knew about this little damage on the door . After I come back from my holidays, in one week time, I noticed what Hertz deducted from my account over 200 euros without any notice .
I rang to the Hertz office at lanzarote airport, for explaination, they sayed, it is my responsibility to contact with customer service for future action .
They got confused in the testimony, first they said that the bumper was damaged, then they said that the right door, the left one ... eventually I asked to send me all the details of the damage and receipt for restoring this damage.
Receipts or payslips wasn't issued, they do not repair the cars as they earning on car damages as well .
They also deducted from me 68 euros for a child car seat, which does not even cost so much.
In the end I want to warn you about this company before signing contract with them. When concluding a car rental contract, carefully read the contract details and make pictures of all damages on the car.
rental car
My sister and I rented a Hertz car and were given a quote of $400.77 for the week. We picked the car up from the Hertz rental at the airport in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The car had no gas which we only realized when a light started flashing miles from the airport. I called to complain at the US toll-free number and got cut off. When we returned the car in perfect condition and with a full tank I signed off on the receipt which was in pesos. It was only after we got through immigration and on the plane that I did the conversion and found 1) it had the wrong reservation number so was not ours; and 2) they had seriously over-charge us for a total of $1, 146.14 (or $745.37 more than the quote.) I've involved AMEX in the dispute as it was on that card, but we attempted to work with Hertz and they have claimed that the Cabo Hertz is a franchise and thus they have no liability for the wrongful charge.
hertz car rental agreement [protected] hertz ref no [protected]
I returned a car to Hertz at Geneva airport and the Hertz representative pointed out a very faint scratch on the bonnet so faint i did not see it when i checked due to the underground car park lighting.
We were told there would be a damage charge of about 100SFr which i objected to due the fact that the scratch could easily be polished out.
However i agreed to pay then halfway through the process was told i could pay by invoice which i agreed to.
Two months later having shredded all the paperwork i recieved an invoice all in French with a demand for 1096.28SFr.
Absolute rip off, Hertz should be ashamed.

the customer service lady
To whom it may concern,
I had a horrible experience at your Marriott Woodland Hills location . Customer service lady Alissa had a serious chip on her shoulder from first ingnoring me standing next in line in front of her while she used her cell phone, not even a acknowledgment ... I also tried to ask her before I waited in the line if there were cars available before I waited, she replied "no" which was not true, as the gentleman working next to her jumped in and said "there ARE and he would help me at that point." Then when I returned the car, she falsely charged my credit card twice, one was A duplicate of the security fee of $325 and the second was for another hundred dollars for gas that she cleaned I returned the car on empty tank, which was NOT TRUE! Then it was my word against hers in this went to you in corporate and her manager didn't want to make it seem like she was the liar, in fact she was so I was fighting a endless battle... it's there that management will never go against their team, that's the way it goes and anyone knows this. But why am here today is to let you know she is in adequate for her position and had some serious issue with me. Now my credit just got charged again for a parking ticket which I paid! ($50!) I want this fixed immediately! I'm so tired of eating dirt from this entire deal getting ripped off and mistreated! See my copy of the paid ticket attached.

rental car clerk at syracuse airport
I recently rented a dodge charger from Hertz and have been driving it without any problems so far. However, when I went into the menu screen to check the tire pressure, I saw that the oil life was down to 18% and grew concerned that I'd end up stranded with a blown gasket if that number was in fact accurate. So I called, the Syracuse airport location to find out what I should do, but the very rude woman who answered the phone picked up right away and told me I'd have to hold. 6 minutes later with no response, I hung up and went about my day. After finishing up with work, I drove all the way to the airport thinking I'd save you guys the trouble of having to replace the engine on a new car because of a maintenance oversight. But when I got there, I stood waiting at the counter for the same woman who'd put me on hold for 6 minutes to finish her fraternizing with an officer who walked in when I did. Instead of asking why I was there, she grabbed the contract and after a moment (presumably when she pulled up my reservation only to find that it wasn't due back yet) she rudely asked "why are you here?". I explained that the oil life was low and I was concerned about damaging the car. She replied "we don't have any cars here so you'll have to wait 4 or 5 hours for us to change the oil or switch the car." I asked about cars at another location when she cut me off and suggested that I go through the trouble of having the oil changed on my own and request that the cost of doing so be deducted from the rental fee whenever I return the car.
She immediately turned away from me and continued her conversation with the gentleman at the counter, disinterested in any further attempts at resolution with me. So, I will continue driving the car as if I never saw the 18% oil life, and should it break down before my scheduled return date, I will have this compliant to refer them to in the event they try to charge me for the damage. No longer will I go out of my way in consideration of people who'd treat paying customers that way.
rental in munich airport
My first renta in Hertz and l has a Gold Reward Member. I deliver the car with a full tank. After the visual inspection I just asked if everything was ok. The quick answer was yes. I just trusted the company and did even deliver the gas invoices, I thought it was visually obvious that the tank was full. But no, I was charged 170 euros for estimate gas costs. Now I am back to my home Country and in here Hertz cannot do anything. It was basic dishonesty in a major International Airport.
brokedown rental car
I took a trip down to California to see my great grandma who is 100 years old and since i was not old enough to rent a car from enterprise (awesome rental car company who doesn't leave their customers stranded in middle of nowhere) I defaulted to renting from Hertz. First off I noticed how the vehicle appeared it hadn't even been cleaned since the last person rented. The outside of the vehicle had scuffs and dirt, the inside back seat had what I assume to be mud stain the size of a golf ball. I would have asked for another car but they didn't have any others of equal size. So I decided to get over it and clean the car myself. Almost made it to the redwood forest before the car gas pedal literally stopped working and we rolled to a stop on a highway in the middle of no where with no phone signal or stations of any kind for 10 miles in each direction.I don't know much about cars but I believe the brand new Nissan Altima's transmission gave out, Not certain but after waiting for hours a cop drove by and called us a tow truck that took 2hours to get to us.Hertz contracts them I guess, The guy was a pervert and tried taking us to a casino when we weren't of age to drink and after a long over 3 hour ride to downtown Sacramento with him he was advised to leave us in a parking lot with creepy homeless men and stick the keys under the mat and leave the door unlocked. We locked ourselves in the car once he left since the homeless men were harassing us and I was NEVER offered a replacement vehicle and never got to go see my 100 year old great grandmother. I had to call a taxi to take me and my friend an hour back to her house from there. So it took from noon until 8pm to get pretty much dumped on side of road by Hertz. Great customer service. They did wind up only charging me for 2 days instead of 4, But that is NOT justifiable compensation for everything I was put through.Enterprise would have had a replacement car to me within a couple hours AND given me at least a free week of rentals or something. I know someone who works there. Needless to say. Hertz really let me down I never expected anything like this.
hertz customer service
On multiple after being rented a recall vehicle and the brakes going out while being operated, I contacted customer service and received the worst customer service I have in my life. The attitudes and compassion for customer service was at its all time lowest and in which I found myself on multiple occasions have to explain to general managers to lower their voice and please stop speaking over me because you was not the one who's life was put in danger. In conclusion there was no relief and I would never use or recommend this company to anyone ever again. The customer is always WRONG should be their motto
hertz rent a car at fort lauderdale airport in florida feb 22, 2017
This is at least my tenth attempt to get this matter resolved. My next step will be legal. Not a threat.
Our grandson was turning 4 on Feb 24, and we decided to fly to FL to be with him on his birthday.
On January 20, 2017 I made reservations for a compact rental car at FLL location, I am a AAA member and I was directed to Hertz, as exclusive partner.
I have always trusted AAA, I had them for over 40 yrs and if they said Hertz, Hertz was good.
Hertz was advertising online a Nissan Versa Note as a compact car and that was precisely what I needed to rent. I called and asked about it. I explained I am a big person, my husband is very tall and we are both on our sixties. We had previously rented that car from Enterprise, and found it to be very comfortable, thus, I wanted to make sure that was what I got since we do not fit in other compact or mid sized cars.
To make my reservation it even more "secure" I pre-paid it in full $500.79 on the spot that very minute. Reference (Hertz Confo # H1852667273).
It was also labeled AAA North Jersey Trip # [protected].
Driver Name: Tere S Albert
The day of the trip came up, Feb 22 and we were to arrive at FLL at 5:30PM but the plane broke down and we were delayed until 1:20AM. All along I kept calling the Hertz rental car place and letting them know what was happening and that we would be very late, but we would still pick up the car.
Needless to say we got there exhausted and needing to rest. We made it to the Hertz counter at the FLL airport rental car facility and after making a long slow line, with only one attendant working there, we were told that the only car left was a Toyota Yaris. I insisted and told the man what I just told you. We were promised a Versa Note, we prepaid for over a month to make sure we had what we wanted. No dice!
A very impertinent young attendant at the counter, was not interested in helping us. I asked him to cancel the transaction and return our money since we could not use the only car he had available to give to us. He would not do a thing, totally ignored us, told me to go and get AAA to return my money, and would not give me a receipt of a cancellation of any type. I insisted asking him for a cancellation number or reference number, something and he was quite unpleasant and fresh letting me know I was bothering him by asking him to do something he did not want to do.
All the other counters were sold out and we needed to grab a taxi to go
to our destination. No rental car. No money refunded.
The next morning (Feb 23)I got on the phone with Hertz several times. NO one could help me. No one wanted to help me. Finally rented another car (Toyota Camry) at another Hertz facility in Miami Lakes, FL they were very pleasant. This rental had nothing to do with the airport one. This was paid in full since they would not get involved in the original airport Hertz Rent a Car problem.
Three weeks ago, through AAA travel and Hertz I was told after over an hour on the phone that everything was taken care of and that I would have the full credit on my credit card within 5-10 business days. Well, no surprise, credit card statement came in and there was no credit issued from Hertz.
I must say I also wrote, called, asked and complained and to this moment I have not yet received one single response from anyone.
It is like "we got your money lady, get lost!" treatment...
I am 69 yrs old, worked very hard for my money all of my life. I made sure I paid my rental and requested what I needed. It is only professional to honor what you promise, it would be even nicer if you addressed problems like mine without making the customer be furious ignoring us.
You KNOW there is a problem. You KNOW YOU HAVE MY MONEY and I DID NOT GET YOUR CAR...you KNOW I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET at least MY FULL REFUND for over two months now...WHAT IS KEEPING HERTZ FROM ACTING PROFESSIONAL?
unethical behaviour
For a trip with my friends to the Andes mountains in Peru I rented a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, because we were to drive in the high mountains (see copy of reservation H2091608633).
Upon arrival there was no Land Cruiser and I got a Hyunday Tucson, clearly inferior to the Land Cruiser and less suitable for mountain tracks.
When we arrived near our goal we were looking for a hotel, and a policeman directed us to Maceta, a small village at 2700m elevation.
Then a storm, the same as the one that caused that mud stream in Bolivia, turned the roads into a chaos, with large rocks and floodings. (phot0)
We were unable to leave that village for seven days and then were escorted down by a police car and had to drive on a very bumpy road and through rivers.(photo).
I turned the car in five days early and then was charged with USD 1421.59 for damages (see copy of their e-mail).
It so happened that I had taken full coverage insurance, but Inka said that I should have a police report which, given the state of emergency and the remore area we were in, was impossible to obtain.
I was charged for USD 300 for damaged tires (they were not flat), USD 660 for other (unspecified) damages, and USD 473.53 for "taxes", so a clear rip-off.
Needless to say that I loath this behaviour of Inka, which reflects on Hertz.
I claim that these "damages and taxes" shall be absorbed by the applicable insurance.
dealing with hertz.
My boyfriend and I got off the plane found the rent a car from Hertz only to not have our paperwork not in order again. Perks of a gold member? We finally get the car to exit with your computer going down and told to exit at another cashier. Another gold member perk. A few days later we are in a rush to leave the motel and have found we left the keys in the trunk. A spare set would have been convenient. We called Herts explained said it would be fifty dollars to come out and we would be reimbursed. No one showed so we end up calling a lock smith and paying 350.00 which I just found out is apparently our fault. Another gold member perk. I have told as many people as I know about how you dealt with this. Thank you for making our holiday so much fun.
car rental
On 2/4/17 I made an online car rental reservation bid online. My bid was picked up by Heartz Car Rental. I prepaid for the reservation and scheduled vehicle pick up on 4/7 by 6 pm. On 4/7 my wife and I arrived at the rental pick up location at 6:15 pm because of heavy traffic. The first Heartz employee that greeted us was rude and kept repeating that they were closed and couldn't help me. I immediately started wondering if this is how all Heartz employees are trained to deal with customers. A few minutes later another employee came in to the customer service area from the back. He was pleasant and was willling to help. I explained my late arrival situation and details of my car rental reservation which I had received through an email. He said the mid size class vehicle I reserved was no longer available while making reference to my 15 mins late arrival. He said I could take a compact car or minivan and I settled for the minivan Once I settled the rental paperwork and upon inspection of the minivan - it had not been washed, the interior had not been vacuumed, and most of the seats were heavily stained. Since this was the only available vehicle comprable to the size class I reserved, I had no choice but to drive it. I was given two keys, none with keyless entry or remote. The interior reaks and rattles like a kicked tin can.
My first experience with Heartz has been less than satisfactory. I hope someone from their management team reads this posting and pays close attention. We are living in a world where a business quality assurance and customer service should be at the front line and core principle and if it cannot adhere to those it might as well fold up and let someone else take over.
I had rented a vehicle by phone using our perks by club wyndham. I put it in my husbands name because we have the timeshare and the Perks deal and I thought it had to be in his name even though our son and his wife will be doing the driving. We didn't know before we went to pick up the car that there would be an additional fee charged because of this. No one told us this. If we had known we would have put it our sons name. Seems like this is a way of getting more money, and they should have explained things better. This is the first and probably last time we will be using your company
