Hertz Service / personnel / customer care

The worst experience ever I don’t do this company for more than year I extend contract every two months never had a problem always happy till this last time I fall sick I had a seizure I was stationed in the hospital for more than two weeks I missed a payment. It’s like it was a big deal. I called them. I text them that I have a seizure. If you allow me I will pay it later just extend my rental not to be in violation, someone has messed up the deal and without consulting probably neglected to make a note so I get not extend it plus, I was put on a non-due rent again list and guess what they called a repo on me as of a fender lysed or made the car disappear and these repo I’ve been texting him and calling them as well but they never answer the phone so what kind of company is that they make decision on you like you never existed and what about the money? I’ve been spending with them from day one it’s all gone it’s OK and they keep harassing me to make a payment and furthermore my all membership points never been added for each trip by been renting with them and I always clean the car before I return so I might have to have a lawyer and I have to sue this company to get my money back, and if they even decide to count what about my a free rental they Omie due to the membership points they never been added so I have not to pay dime back to them I handed the bag the key to the repo guy. I returned the car in good condition they didn’t have to do all the scanned it, but someone has done it on purpose to high ripple against me. It was not necessarily to do all this there’s a low class prejudiced.

Hertz uber/hertz account

I was put into a vehicle with engine problems twice in Feb.2023, when I complained to the Area Manager I was given a $264.00 credit to my account. When I called to renew my Uber/Hertz car on 3/2/23 I was charged $976.00, no one can tell me why. When I contact customer service no one can understand me and I can't understand them. I feel violated and I have no one to turn to for answer's regarding my account. I need my rental for Uber/DoorDash. I take care of a elderly relative and I need the flexibility of working for myself. This rental has been very stressful and expensive. Please any advice would be appreciated.

Desired outcome: I would like for the Area Manager to respond to the email I sent on 3/3/23 and I would like my money put back into my account for the over charge. I would also like to know who manages the Cottage Park Uber/Hertz location in Atlanta Ga. ?

Hertz 2nd charge on my credit card for up grade

1/21/23 - I reserved a 7 passenger SUV and was charged 883.41 (1 week / 2 extra days) to be picked up at the Denver Airport. The pick-up date was 1/24/23. I waited outside with our bags; my husband went to the counter and a nice young man showed him a computer screen with multiple vehicles on it. The young gentleman never mentioned an up-grade fee to my husband. The paperwork said the total was 838.15. I received my receipt yesterday after returning to Florida. On my credit card statement, I was charged 883.41 on 1/21/23 and then on 2/1/23 I was charged 838.15 for an up-grade. This was very deceptive what the young man at the counter did. The 700.00 up-grade and 148.44 concession fee. I am floored that Hertz would engage in such deceptive practices. Did I mention that the receipt that the young man gave my husband had the Up-grade to L stapled behind the top copy. Rental record number [protected]. The rental was returned in clean condition. Is Hertz preying on the elderly? My husband called [protected] and spoke with someone about this deception. (883.41 then 838.15 in charges) I even gave the young gentleman a good review for being so helpful. What a crock of ____.

Desired outcome: Please refund the second charge of 838.15. I would like a quick response to this matter. That is a lot of money for someone on a fixed income.

Hertz Italian car rental

This past November I rented a car in Florence, Italy: contract Number [protected]. My name is Raymond Francis, I am 80 and I have had a Gold Hertz Gold card since 2009, member # [protected]. Used Hertz many times before 2009. Upon renting the car was told I could return the car in any 24 hour period at location. After filling car with gas and returning to same Hertz location was unable to return car, locked up. I had to get a taxi to lead me to our hotel and pay storage for car overnight{$50}. Took car to Hertz location the next day and they charged for additional time. The staff was very rude, Upon taking the car below ground for check in I was told I would be charged 36 Euros for a full tank even though not much gas used; only because couldn't turn in car the day before, I was very upset and asked my wife to take a picture of the fuel showing almost full. The assistant shoved my wife and was very aggressive. I was getting louder and more upset. She threatened to call police; which I was supportive of. I asked to speak to Manager and he said weakly said of his hands and that the assistant would handle. That was wrong step I believe. We left {me and my wife} to try to calm down. When returned to Dallas, Hertz credited the 36 Euros to my credit card and I assumed the matter was closed and then a letter comes from notifying me of my Hertz use being canceled. Un believable; who is the customer. Look at my record; clean and nothing there. I have outlined exactly what happened and would expect to be reinstated. Hertz Hertz stolen my credit card info and charge me for someone else.

I just rent ONE car (PR [protected]). but not Doc:[protected].

On December 28 2022, in San Francisco airport, the Hertz Counter staff served me for car rental, after first payment with card, I found he spelt wrongmy name, so i asked him to correct.

Then he asked me to pay again, and promised the first charge will refund soon.

After one month I reviewed my cradit card bill and found the first charge didn't refund. Actually (PR [protected]) wad a rental by someone else but not me, but Hertz connect it with my account.

Now Hertz charged me twice(USD668.04 + USD831.34) for their own mistake.

It's rediculous.

Please check out and reply/refund to me ASAP.

Desired outcome: find the truth and refund to me ASAP.

Hertz Car Hire

Having made my booking online through you I went to collect the car from Car Rental Village, Manchester Airport. Receptionist was Kim.

I only had to pass her my Credit Card and Driving Licence for her to check that the address matched on both.

After a couple of minutes she told me the check had failed and she couldn't proceed with the rental. She said that there was no explanation, which I find odd and there was nothing else I could do.

Her exact words were "Get on to whoever you booked it with and try to get your money back"

Now I am 81 years old and have lived at the address which is on both cards

since February, 1972.

I use my Credit Card on a regular basis and I know for a fact that the address matches my Driving Licence.

I am therefore asking for a refund as I have done nothing wrong

Hertz Not honoring reservation

I made a reservation on the Dollar/Hertz website for a car to be used for a very quick trip. SFO. And secured the reservation via MasterCard. When I got to the rental desk, they would not accept my credit card, honor my reservation, and said they had to make a new reservation, which of course was much more costly. All of this took over an hour and no one could adequately explain why they couldn't accept my MasterCard or use another of my credit cards.

Hertz Cleaning fee

I rented a car from Colorado Springs Airport to Austin Airport.

I returned the car at the Austin Airport location and the representative working at the time took the keys, printed out my receipt, and I went home. The following morning I was reviewing my credit card and saw that the $140 dollar rental went to $440. I did not receive any updated receipt nor did I receive any phone call regarding this charge. I was not informed about the charge.

I was charged a $300 cleaning fee because the car had sand and dirt all through the car from what I was told. I was asked if I went to the beach and I said there are no beaches in Colorado. When I rented the car it was very late at night and I never saw any sand or dirt in the car. When I loaded up the car at 0200 the following morning to drive to Austin I never saw any sand or dirt. When I unloaded the car at Austin it was dark and I never saw and sand or dirt in the car. There are no beaches between Colorado Springs and Austin and I didn't have time for any shenanigans along the drive since I had to return the car the very next day.

If the car was dirty then I should not be held responsible for cleaning fees if I was not the person responsible for it. I expect a refund of this $300 dollar cleaning fee.

I have called customer service 3 times regarding this issue. I went to and pleaded with the Colorado Springs Airport Hertz location and was given a phone number to Austin Airport location. I tried calling the Austin Airport Hertz location and they will not pick up. I submitted 3 survey's to corporate with such poor responses that I was able to put my full name, phone number, and email down on each survey for someone to contact me within 72 hours. I have not heard anything back from corporate and it's been much longer than 72 hours.

On my third and last phone call to customer service I asked to speak to a manager. Unsurprisingly no manager was available. I also asked to see pictures of the condition of the car. From what I was told at the Colorado Springs location, Austin Airport Hertz should have taken pictures to back their claim. When I asked customer service to see pictures I was told there were no pictures taken.

I'm a GOLD Memeber with Hertz and have been for many years in the military. And this is how a long time GOLD Member is treated. I have never seen this charge in the past because I am a very clean and respectful person. I never thought I'd be treated so disrespectful from Hertz after making my way up to GOLD level. Not the best way to ensure customer loyalty. At least back your claim.

Hertz can look at my rental history and see that I have never been charged a cleaning fee. They can also conclude there is no beach in Colorado. Might aa well charge for snow and ice removal. Getting slapped a $300 dollar charge came as a complete shock. If I did it then why would I waste my time calling so many time, filling out so many survey's in effort to get someone to call me, and even go back to the rental location for help? It's because this is a false charge.

I believe I should be due a $300 dollar refund as it is fraudulent and I was not notified of this at time of the return.

Desired outcome: I expect a refund of $300.

Hertz Rental car

Situation:

I rented a car to go 1 month from Hertz on 12/17/22 until 1/17/23. This car had an electrical problem (missing on all cylinders) I noticed yesterday (12/21/22) and called Roadside Assistance and had Case # [protected] registered. I was asked by Hertz to return the car (even though marginally driveable) to nearest location which was Boulder, CO for me. I called Boulder and they have no cars until late January 2023. Next nearest location is Aurora which is 3/4 distance to the airport anyway. And this morning 12/22 I awaken to 8 in of snow on ground and -16 F temperatures...

I was asked by my COO to go to PHX to work with another site for the next few days and I told him the earliest I could leave was Saturday due to weather conditions.

Hertz wants me to exchange the bad car and get a replacement at Denver airport then but it would require termination of that contract at full price even though it was purchased to last until Jan 17. Hertz would then give me a different vehicle and charge me full price for the new rental. Total loss is $750 on 1st contract and $1500 on 2nd contract to extend rental until Jan 17.

Desired outcome: I want Hertz to keep the original contract to cover both cars as this situation is no fault of my own. The car breaking down is 100% risk on Hertz, the weather being neither of our faults.

Good day Sir/or Ma'am I hope you're well. My name is Vernon Harvey and I contracted to rent a car from the Hertz location at Midway Airport Chicago on November 29, 2022. I made the transaction on-line. It was simple. I flew to Chicago Midway Airport from Atlanta's Hartsfield on December 07,2022 at 12:00 pm. The initial payment was $219.83. I prepaid with my debit card. To make a long story short. There was a mistake for I wanted nothing but to rent the car for price I was quoted for which I already paid. But there was a bait and switch tactic when I got to the airport. There was two dramatic employee's acting as if there was a big delay for cars and instead of giving me access to what I already paid for. They laid out an unsuspecting trick to deceive me in presenting another contract in addition to what I already had contracted for. I didn't see the additional charge until I went to my bank. I didn't realize what had happened for I was charged extra to what I already paid for by a tandem that played like they were so customer service oriented only to fatten the frog for the snake. I chose the managers special and that's what I got. A car that wouldn't start when I got out of it. For the scheme of the counter personnel plan which I equaled to a dubious pre - meditated plot was to give me a vehicle that was flawed from the start. So it would seem that what was on the unknowing 2nd contract would suit me in a emergency time of need which was no doubt pre-plan to make it seem that it was well worth the unsuspecting charge for I didn't want or need the extra charges to what I was unwilling to pay for. In addition to having to take an Uber to where I had to go, and I had to catch public transportation in Chicago where it isn't too safe in the first place. Not to mention how much I was charged when I looked on my bank statement $967. The counter personnel told me my account would be charged an extra $500 but would clear since I was using a debit card instead of a credit card. I was fine with it. But it was a ploy to see if the debit card would have enough money to cover the overage to the unwarranted charges that they accrued to my account on top of what I contracted for. This way I wouldn't realize what they done. She the counter woman told me it would clear when I bring the vehicle back. I missed important business meetings and other worthy time on public transportation and having to get to where I was going although having the large amount of money being charged from my account. In addition to waiting on roadside recovery services on more than a few occasions was ridiculous. Also, I was in a bind to having to be at an important meeting so I was told If I would pay for a battery for the key fob to work that I would be reimbursed when I took the car back for a replacement. I tried to talk to the manager Torrence or Tarrence when I took the car back to the garage and he didn't bother to listen to my plight. I would like to get those secondary charges off my account for It was a total nightmare that ruined my stay in Chicago. I would appreciate my money that I was charged extra to go back to my account. I'll await a response to this horrifying ordeal.

Hertz Car rental

I rented a vehicle on Friday at 8 am which they did'n't have ready until 8:45, the return date is the Dec 13th today 2022, I came in on the 12th after 6 so we dropped the car off in the parking lot for Hertz and locked it and I returned 15 minutes before they opened this morning on the 13th, the car was not there, the called a tow company and had it towed off and said that I could not park there, there was no where else to park it and there were other cars parked there, so no reason to tow my car, and when I rented it they never said where to park or that it could be towed! I had to go to the tow company pay $213.00 to get a car rental out that hertz had towed, I just now found out that on top of that they charged me for the 13th and extra day because the car they towed off was not late!

I'm filing fraud charges tomorrow, unless the full amount of the car rental is refunded back to the card I used. I want to hear back from you today! Hertz Unauthorized credit card charge

I rented a car from Hertz in their location of 10414 Richmond Hill Canada from – 1 September to 3 November 2022. Their location reference is 0807712.

The Rental Record is [protected].

The total cost for the rental period agreed with Hertz is CNG $3200. However they put 3358.00 on the rental record, I was told that it will be 3200 when I returned the car.

I took the car back to Hertz at the above location on the 13 October to exchange for another car because there was a fault. I was given another Rental Record [protected] for the 2nd car. It is clearly stated on the Contract “Transfer Exchange from date 10-13-2022 TIME 15:04”. However, the rental date said 10-2-22 which is incorrect and I overlooked at the time.

My Credit Card was debited on 4 October for the full amount of CND $3358.

It should not have been debited when the car is due back. I pointed that out when I went to exchange the car. The chap who dealt with my rental was also surprised and he admitted that payment had been debited.

On 4 November, one day after I returned the car on 3 November, my credit card was debited again for the same amount. I had been charged TWICE.

I made several attempts to contact Hertz there by phone and email but of no avail. The manager there simply gave me their customer billing telephone number for me to sort that out myself. That telephone number is constantly blocked. Eventually, I got through to the billing department and the person said she would expedite my request for a refund. I had to press her to give me the expedite case reference which is [protected].

A few days ago I received a refund of the equivalent of CND 900 which is unacceptable to me, to say the less.

I am not sure what else I could do, as their

billing telephone number and customer service number are blocked.

Hertz said on their website, they put customer service first, what a joke!

Desired outcome: I want a full refund, they should not have charged me twice for the rental.

Hertz Issue with a booking

I have a booking with Hertz using points. Hertz rental# K32948512EO. i wanted to extend one day and pay for the entire rental instead of using points. I called the Hardeeville, SC and he said to call the rental extension line. I called the rental extension line and they said to call the gold desk. I called the gold desk and she not only refused to help me but hung up. During our conversation, I could barely understand her with broken English. I continually asked her to repeat and asked to be transferred to a supervisor that could assist. Instead, she hung up. I am the director of Sales for a company and allow my team to use any company. I would never treat someone like this. I would like a follow up phone call and some assistance please! Suzy at [protected]

Hertz Lied to me about a reimbursement

While traveling in Utah, had a flat in a Hertz rental car only to find no spare.

Was on phone with customer service who sent a tow truck who in turn got us to a tire shop. The tire shop was not one of their venders, (closest one was 3 hours away) so while on the phone they told me they would submit a reimbursement if I were to pay to have a tire put on their car.

When I returned the car I was told they couldn’t do that and told me to take it up with my insurance company.

Basically they stole a brand new tire from me and I lost a day’s rental that they also said I could get back.

I get no response from anyone when promised they would be in touch.

To date a month later I have spent hours on the phone with no luck.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. THEY ARE CROOKS

Desired outcome: Pay for the tire I had to put on their car and return the rental fee only for the day lost due to their negligence

I totally agree with you. They are crooks.

They told me their roadside assistance is not free. And I am responsible for a leak on the tire even though I had it under 1/2 day and the tire low pressure light came on a couple of hours after I picked up the car. They do not bothered to check the tires before renting the car out. The threads on one of the tires were nearly worn out!

There was a problem with a cable and I had to get it repaired in a garage. I also wasted more than half a day phoning their road side assistance and in the end had to get the repair done in a garage, paid out of my own pocket. I gave Hertz the invoice but never got a refund.

The car I had from them, the batteries were low on both keys. The Bluetooth and full so I could not use the GPS.

They don't care about customers.

I will never ever rent from Hertz again.

Hertz Reservation cancelled, had to engage a rental at a much higher rate

Reservation # K2320920092 for pick up at Boston Logan Airport on Friday evening 10-28-22 @ 8PM was cancelled by Hertz for unknown reason. Rental charges were $ 29.07.

Thus, I was required to book a one day rental at great expense- $ 151.62- reservation # [protected].

Please provide me with an adjustment of $ 100.00.

Hertz GTA

I rented a car and was pulled over and went to jail for gta grand theft auto. I rented the car and ended up in jail for stealing a car. (I rented) I was jailed and still I paid for the rent once I was released. I'm soooo pissed off I really can't believe I was arrested for stealing something that I rented. This was complete bs. Hertz should be ashamed of this type of business practice. I was in another county and had to stay jailed until I was transferred to the county where the police report was made from. So that was another 3 long days not including the weekend 5 days and 3 more days until my court date in total 8 days and they still charged my card over $990 for the rental of 8 days. This was a devastating life changing experience to say the less and that is the less i'm saying. I can't put this crap into words. My mom had just past and I was just given temp custody of my 2 siblings. I'm so mad at hertz for this bs they need to be closed down. I went to jail for a car I rented unbelievable... Smh I need a good attorney. Anyone?

Grand Theft Auto

I rented a car and was pulled over and went to jail for GTA grand theft auto. I rented the car and ended up in jail for stealing a car. (I rented) I was jailed and still I paid for the rent once I was released. I'm soooo pissed off I really can't believe I was arrested for stealing something that I rented.

Hertz Emergency surgery while vacationing in Colorado

My wife and I flew into Denver Colorado on September 18th and rented a Chevy Blazer from the hertz rental at D.I.A. We traveled to Grand Junction and then to Durango for two nights then on to Antonito in a driving rainstorm. We went on to Alamosa to spend two nights. After riding the train from Antonito to Chama N.M. we returned to Alamosa overnight to continue on to Colorado Springs the next day, but that never happened as I was admitted to the hospital in Alamosa with a severe case of diverticulitis which in two days I had to have 41/2 hours of emergency surgery where today I am being treated for a large open stomach wound and an Ostomy bag in which I deficate into for the next 61/2 months. I did not ask for this as it ended our vacation unfortunately.

I am and have been the principle driver in our family as my diabetic wife has poor vision in her left eye and I do not want her to drive. But under the circumstances she had no choice and I did not want her to drive the 31/2 hour drive to Denver D.I.A. with her vision and her mental state as I remained in the hospital with no release date and she being diabetic was extremely low on her meds. so we decided she had to get home to California while I recovered.

The Blazer reminded me why I will never own a Chevy product and this came to a head when she attempted to drive it and the "check engine" light came on and the owners manual stated to pull over and seek mechanical assistance.

The car was the least of my concerns as two of my surgeons had told me that I was lucky to be alive so we both had other things on our minds and she called Hertz and told them they were going to have to come pick it up due to what the car was displaying and what the Manuel was telling her.

She made it home as did I where a month out am still recovering and yesterday she informed me that Hertz charged our credit card an extra $ 800.00 for the return of the car to Denver via tow truck... Really?

Is there any compassion at your company? 800.00? really? 31/2 mile drive by tow truck to D.I. A.

I was shocked when she told me this yesterday and am extremely disappointed in your company and it is not the money it is the fact that I nor did she have any idea that our two week vacation would end as a night mare... Very Disappointed Robert M. Hoyle

Hertz Standard of service at Hertz Stansted Airport

Unfortunately, I have hired a car from Hertz at Stansted on the 7th of October and have been very disappointed with the service of the staff.

On arrival at the counter I was asked for my national insurance number and my electoral registration number, I did not know I was required to provide these as it is not mentioned in your required information. I did after some time remember my national insurance number but not the ER number. I was informed by the staff I could not hire a car without this information but eventually, the staff did let me take the car.

After about 30 mins after leaving Stansted the tire pressure light came on, as I was on the motorway I stopped at the next service station and checked the tire pressures. They were all the same pressure and I continued on my journey.

On returning the car to Stansted on the 18th Oct the staff queried the tire pressure light being on and called for a technician to check the tires.

The tire pressures were checked and were all the same pressure much to the technician's surprise. He said there would be a SCREW in one of the tires. He then went to the rear left tire and run his hand over the tire and immediately found a screw in the tire. I have 2 friends who own garages one sells a lot of tires and they said the only way to identify a screw or nail in the tire after having traveled 1469 miles would be to take the wheels off and inspect the tires very carefully as after that amount of miles the screw head would be flush with the tire and not be detected by running your hand over the tire.

I was informed that the cost of replacing a tire would be approximately £97 for the tire plus some admin costs.

I have received 2 bills for the tire. On 18thOct at 2350 the cost were - £108 for the tire, £35 for admin total £143. The second bill was on 21st Oct the cost £175.96. I find the cost of replacing a tire with 28204 miles on it to be extreme.

I find the whole experience to be somewhat disturbing and has left me with more questions than answers.

I have attached two photos of the car on the 7th Oct, these were snapshots of a video I took of the car taken at the time of my collection in Stansted.

The first photo is of the front left wheel 192520 if you zoom in to the bottom center of the wheel you will see a couple of cuts out of the tire, I didn't notice these at the time of collection.

The second photo is of some scratches on the front left door plus the dirty water marks that were all over the front of the car.

If required I will send the full video to you for your inspection. I am questioning the standard of service of the Hertz Stansted franchise.

Hertz Cars not available when arriving to Hertz location

Hello!

I had reserved a car for a very important event. I went online reserved the car, location and time. Before arriving to the location (Morrow, GA), I made sure to call that specific location just to make sure everything was correct and in order. No answer @ [protected].

I went on and paid someone to drive me 30 mins to the location because I didn't want to be late for the rental pick up. Once I entered the office, the rep stated that it was unfortunate that they didn't have the car that I had reserved days before online. I asked the rep why no one called to inform or why no one picked up the phone line when customers call. He stated that they were trying to call customers back to inform them but somehow, I wasn't called. He also stated that I could wait around but there was no definite time that a car would become available, or I could go to another location.

Now I'm really upset because - 1st - I already paid someone to bring me to pick up at this location that I reserved. 2nd - He's telling me to go to another location which is an inconvenience for me. 3rd - The rep stated to wait around and see if a car becomes available. There was no way I was going to wait around at a location for a car when I had reserved days before.

This was just a complete disaster dealing with Hertz. I ended up having to go with another rental car company which also was a hassle. But I refused to do business with Hertz again because this is not good customer service. Just a waste of time and money.
