Mavis Discount Tire Money didn't ask if I wanted any extra service

I had to get my tires changed, I also asked for an oil change, I was quoted 270$. It was 110$ a piece, so 220 and starting at 50, for an oil change. ok so I understand I got the 70$ oil change because of my type care. So the price should have been quoted at 290. Plus tax. My total was over 400$ and I read the invoice and I had service that I didn't ask for, like 14.50 here, 4.50 there, extra labor and it took several hours to change my tires and oil. I didn't even get a sticker for my window, not a big deal, but, it makes me think they didn't even do my oil change, my car sounds like it's running worse than it was before, I even got an oil change. I have not even had it a year yet, I had to replace the tires 3 x now, and 1 of the times was with Mavis. I'm kinda pissed I paid for this and didn't say anything about it, but I was just ready to leave. I didn't expect to have to pay that much then when I saw the invoice, it made more sense.

Mavis Discount Tire Buying one tire

I went to the Mavis Tire center on March18 2022 to get one tire for my wifes car. Was told that they did not have it in stock but he would order it and it would be there on saturday and to come in at 12.00 . Brought the car in and was told that the tire was here but he was busy and I had to come back in 2 hours. Well came back around 2.30 and was told it wasn't done and that I was next, so I told him that I could not wait and needed the car back. Well I took my car back and told him that I was going to go some where else, at 5.15pm he called me and told me that my car was done to come pick the car up. How does that work since I already had my car and had my tire replaced at the Good Year tire center up the road that only took a half hour. I find that your manager is totally not able to handle a single request just to do one tire. I will be not be back to your store for this reason.

Mavis Discount Tire Consumer Fraud; incompetent workers; refusal to provide a refund for unnecessary work and resolve the issue created by the company.

I took my 2017 Toyota Camry (that had 49,500 miles) to an auto repair shop - Mavis Tires and Brakes in Niles, IL - to check because of the one-time noise I heard while making a turn. The car was in great condition, no accidents. This repair shop did not properly diagnose the problem and in turn replaced original Toyota parts (control arms and struts) that did not need replacing! The technician and manager pointed to the parts (took me back to the work area) and said those need replacement. On Dec. 17, 2021 I paid $1,558.83 and got in the car. When I started driving, I immediately heard the constant new noise that was not there before, like I'm riding in a horse wagon on the bumpy field. This noise has been there ever since, feels like my car is 100 yrs old and will fall apart any moment. I immediately returned to the shop after the 1st repair, the manager Leo said to drive for a few wks and come back if the noise persists. I came back on Sat. 1/15/22, he said the parts they installed "were simply defective", come back on 1/17/22, will replace them. I returned on 1/17/22 , picked up the car next day, nothing changed, they simply lied! I requested original Toyota parts to be put back - did not happen. I talked to regional manager Jay who told me to go another Mavis location and assured that everything will be fixed. I went to Mavis in Palatine 1/25/22. Again nothing changed! The car continues to shake and make noise due to the wrong struts that were installed. I have spent countless hours, money for gas, drove many miles back and forth, needing a 2nd car since I had to leave my car for the day. Conclusion from another auto expert BeeZee Auto: The struts that they installed were cheaply made aftermarket parts, not even compatible with the year, make and model of the vehicle. That is the reason for the constant noise that appeared after initial work at Mavis. Dates of service: 12/17/21 - paid $1,558.83, followed by "replacement of defective" parts on 1/17/22, followed by a visit to another Mavis location on 1/25/22.

As I later found out, after visiting a Toyota Service Department, the parts that Mavis replaced were in great condition, not broken, not torn, completely intact in my Toyota. The only parts that needed replacement to begin with (due to normal wear) - stabilizer bar bushings - something that Mavis did not do.

I've talked to the Customer Relations Headquarters numerous times, have been once again sent on a "Wild Goose Chase" between that department and regional manager, only to be told again to come back to the shop and replace the parts.

For 3 months I've been dealing with rude management, incompetent technicians, have been wrongly charged an outrageous amount of money, have spent countless hours, had to drag my 80 year old mom to drive the 2nd car every time I had to take Toyota to the shop, including driving during bad snow storm, etc. Now I have to come up with additional $2,800 to replace the Toyota parts that Mavis workers removed.

I sincerely hope you can provide help in resolving this matter.

This is a follow up to the complaint filed on 3/15/22.

The evening of 3/15/22 I received a phone call from Mavis management at 8 pm CST. The next 40 minutes were the most absurd and aggravating! The 1st man that called me (didn't get his name) asked to explain the problem - I explained (despite the fact that everything was written in my complaint letter). He then connected with another man on a 3-way call. The 2nd man asked the same question - "What's going on?" Again, I explained. I was on the phone for until 8:40 pm, passed on like a relay stick from one person to the next, each subsequent person that joined the phone call asked me "What's going on?" I ended up talking to 5 or 6 people. The names I remember are Lionel, Alex, Jaimie, Ruby. At some point, on the person #3 or4, I have heard the following: "Shut up you old [censored]!" Never in my life have such obscenity been said in my presence! The charade continued, one of the callers started talking about an upgraded seat that was replaced in my car?! My complaint had NOTHING to do with a seat, the word "seat" was never mentioned by me anywhere. The problem was related to struts! I tried to respond and tell them I had no idea what they were talking about but people on the other end continued to make derogatory remarks and obscene comments. The last person I talked - Ruby - asked me if I'm playing cards?! I felt like I was surrounded by lunatics or people who just got really high on drugs. I have witnesses to everything that transpired during those 40 minutes on the phone; 2 mature adults heard every word that was said in those conversations, they will gladly confirm and testify if needed. I sincerely hope that this complaint is taken seriously by Mavis Management and resolved immediately, issuing the requested payment (specified in my initial complaint on 3/15/22).

I will be contacting both CEOs of Mavis - David and Stephen Sorbaro - regarding this nightmare, including details of sickening rudeness of their employees.

Mavis Discount Tire Oil change

I dropped my car off at 9am opening time for an oil change. Since I was a walk in I decided to leave my car. It took them until closing 5pm to finish oil change. I called multiple times. That’s not my entire issue though. There were only 2 people at the store that day; the lady at the desk and the man doing oil changes. When I got home I realized my brand new apple AirPods were missing from my middle console. I got them literally the day before and forgot to take them out when I dropped the car off. I called the manager and he said he would have to talk to the employees( as if they will tell him yes they stole it). I just want to be reimbursed for the 190$ AirPods. If not I’m filing a police report to get access to cameras. This is bordentown NJ.

Mavis Discount Tire Car

Not working properly after being worked on at the end of January 2022 and bringing it back to the original location it was worked on to be worked on a second time.

Thereafter it was taken to two other locations closer to my home to be told it could not be fixed/worked on at these locations.

Mavis Discount Tire Brake replacement

It all began with Mavis Discount Tire, 7150 Hamilton Blvd, Trexlertown, PA 18087, on 26th of November 2021.

My wife had complained that the cars brakes didn’t seem to engage too well. She drives it often enough so I trusted her judgment and took the car in to Mavis Discount Tires following a recommendation from one of her friends. Gino there dealt with us and told us the front brake pads needed to be changed. He then went on to recommend that we should also change the rotors because that would be the proper thing to do. I did later think about this and wonder that if the pads are the ones that wear out quicker and are guaranteed free replacement why would one be changing the rotors as often. He also recommended we get the brake system flushed and since it was going up on the ramp with winter around the corner and it being my wife’s car I thought it a good idea. With all that done the same evening that I dropped in, we drove away.

Around two weeks later my wife started complaining that there was an odd noise coming from the front tires. As I was away from the country she took the car back, and he told her there was a rock that was the cause of that noise and they said they fixed the issue and my wife drove away.

The noise only got worse and my wife once again, in my absence took the truck in on 17th of December and was told that this was something that could happen – the pads were faulty and had a heat spot and had caused grooves so they changed the “pads only” and said it was fixed and sent her away.

Come January 2021 the intermittent noise started again and began to get worse. I was home so I took the car in and met Gino and he said that he recalled yes that they changed only the pads but perhaps should have also change the rotors which had gotten damaged because of the uneven wear caused by the heat spot on the pads. He offered to changed both pads and rotors and told us we had to make an appointment and bring it back another day. I was surprised that they had not done it when my Wife had brought the car back the second or third second time ...and more so as we had paid for new rotors and pads and the faulty pads had caused damage to those very same new rotors.

I did tell them that I was going to go away out of the country again and that my wife was in quarantine so I wanted this job done while I was here that day.

They said they couldn’t accommodate me and that I would have to bring it in another day and only when Gino was in because he wanted to be there personally.

When the job got done finally on 21 of January he said that they had gone ahead and changed the rotors and pads and that there was no charge “as this was a favor “which I found extremely offending as we had paid $$$ for new sets for both front brakes just a month ago which had been damaged by “faulty”pads. He further said that perhaps the calipers may be the issue and told us perhaps we should get that done.

It has been a very arduous and inconvenient 2 months with recurring issues and incomplete fixes and the final slap was that we had to be grateful he wasn’t charging us for having a car back there the fourth time.

Having gone through this there was no way I was going to get any other job done over there and would like your company to compensate us for the many times that we’ve had to drive there and be told we could not be accommodated and that we had to make an appointment and come back.

They should have put the car back on the ramp on priority the very first time and fixed it because the money had been paid.

Furthermore they should’ve done the right fix of both new rotors and pads the very second time that my wife went there and Not do half the job and later offer to do it right because we took the trouble to go back the fourth time.

One understands that with mechanical parts there could always be a lemon but that should be the very reason why getting it right for us should have been priority. Not a favor.!

I would certainly appreciate a response from you. Please note we will not be returning to the Trexler Town shop ever again.

Mavis Discount Tire Mavis Tire did unneeded repairs for inspection

My mother is 74. She took her car to Mavis Tire on May 12th, 2021 to be inspected. They told her it would pass inspection but she should have both her axel shafts replaced. They scared her into having it done by saying she could break down. They also replaced her catalytic converter which absolutely did not need replacing. She couldn't afford it so they talked her into getting a Flex Shopper Credit card. Which in the end she will end up paying twice the amount for things she did not need for inspection.

Desired outcome: She has already paid the amount they charged for services and now she is just paying interest. We want them to sign off paid in full.

Mavis Discount Tire Customer service, unexplainable charge, lack of communication and unprofessional

Absolutely horrible customer service from the Mavis Glenolden PA location. I am a returning customer after receiving such great customer service back in August 2020.

At that time it was Kyle and Bobby, and they were absolutely great. Now I am not sure what happen, but this place is completely out of order. Very unprofessional front desk manager Liz, to the point I know several customers full names and the problems they had because Liz was blatantly talking about them to a coworker in the front lobby for everyone else to hear. She even referred to one of Mavis paying customers after she got off the phone with him as "oh, the problem child".

Apparently this guy brought his car in on Monday for 2 front black hawk tires and to switch the 2 front tires to the rear. He dropped his car off early Monday morning was promised it will be done, he called up there Monday afternoon to check the ETA of his car and was told the car was not touched. The customer got upset and him and Liz exchanged words because the customer stated why wasn't he called to say hey we can get to your car today etc. Again I know all this by over hearing Liz talking to her coworker which was highly inappropriate.

The lady that they have in there now, Liz is completely rude. She was talkative at first, but soon my car ran into an issue, and I was asking questions about it, she became very rude and got this nonchalant attitude. I asked to speak to the mechanic, and I was told that I can voice my questions to her, and she will relay it to the mechanic. I got in touch with the regional manager Stacey Stipanovic, and she wasn't much help either.

She even told me after I told her that is not the price the mechanic first quoted me, she accused me of lying by saying your story is changing. I was highly offended and taken back by her response when she said that and became highly frustrated and anxiety kicked in, and I began to cry due to not being heard or help. Stacey then said she was not here to go back and forth with me. She was not in the store when quotes were discussed this is what they told her my bill was when she called and this is what it is when can I go pick up my car.

I then told Stacey to please pull the camera footage and audio from the store for that day because I really don't like being called a liar. Dropped my truck off 8 AM Tuesday morning, car was not done until closing Thursday evening. There was absolutely no communication or updates given throughout the process unless I called up to the store to ask. Wednesday the truck was not touched due to Liz stating mechanic had another car to do, then it was mechanic could not get my spare tire out from underneath the truck to get to brake lines.

AGAIN NO COMMUNICATION FROM STAFF only way I knew that is because I called up there. When I asked Liz why couldn't I get a call with updates when the mechanic ran into problems, I was told she was too busy.

I will never use them again, they lie and try to charge you more than what was originally quoted. Not only that, but I would highly recommend you look else where unless you like wasting money.

User's recommendation: Run..Please find somewhere else!

I had an oil changed done. The tech did not secure the oild filter, resulting in the engine being drained of the oil ultimately resulting in having the engine replaced. Mavis made good on the engine replacement however the engine is leaking oil and now Mavis is not responding to my requests. I also have not received a warranty on the engine and or the auto shop that performed the engine replacement.

11/4 brought my car to mavis wantagh for tire installation and oil change. Unauthorized service were preformed with our verbally calling me. Brake system flush and alignment done without authorization. 12/5 I am now in Bellmore mavis for oil leak and crack in filter and oil light on dashboard.. multiple calls made to eri regional manager and told refund was issued!!

Mavis Discount Tire Tires, air filter, list of unnecessary work needed

I have 4 new tires that aren't the right size and they're all terrain on a sedan. Car is riding like a tank. Also paid for an air filter that was never replaced and some attachment for that was never re-fastened. Told brakes and rotors were needed while my back brakes and rotors are like new and front will still easily pass inspection. After the tires were put on, air pressure light came on. Tried to put air in and could not get the nozzle attached. Turns out new valve stems weren't put on with tires. The only thing I wanted from Mavis was tires. I took the car, along with the long list of work to be done, to our mechanic to get brakes and have him check all of the other recommendations. This is when he found that there was no air filter put in and that none of the other things, including a sway bar, are needed. I have pictures from our mechanic and I will be pursuing this to get reimbursed for the air filter (which was put in today by my mechanic) and also to have the correct size and type tires put on

Mavis Discount Tire Multi

Took car for checkup of brakes, alignment, front end, (brakes were making noise, and there was a shimmy when driving. Car checked "needed shocks, wheel alignment, strut assembly. They gave me a wrong invoice which I paid at the time then they called to tell me the Bill came to 1, 699.79. I went back and paid the difference which was about double of the first bill. The following week I returned because of car pulling to right and still a slight shimmy. They checked it again and told me I needed an additional $680.00 worth of work done on the brakes. This should have been taken care of on first visit. The mechanic advised me curvature of road can cause shimmy, which I am aware of, but the car shimmy was obvious on a smooth level road around 50-55 mph. They did correct the alignment which is better now. Brakes are still squealing, but I will not return to this facility for any further repairs. Mechanic's attitude and professionalism leaves room for improvement. I will have the work they advised checked out and performed by another facility if necessary performed

Mavis Discount Tire Tire

A living nightmare I am in. Purchased insurance for tire when bought brand new set in May. Tried to get nail removed from tire and dropped st north lake location. They had car for day. I was first to drop at 8 am. Got car at closing they never fixed. Told they had to order tire snd it would arrive Tuesday. We called Tuesday snd they never received tire. My husband said they were so disoruwe couldn't use them. Since we purchased insurance I wanted to try another Mavis. Now I'm standing at navis in Decatur after calling and getting tire ordered. I have been waiting on car all day. They told us 5 pm when we dropped called multiple times. Randy told me at 4:25 ready in 45 minutes going in the bay. Arrived at 6 pm snd my cars was in the parking lot nail in tire. I am in my neighbors borrowed car I need to return snd need to get on the toad to go out of town. They never fixed it. I complained snd they promised to get done in 15 minutes. I am standing by my car just outside the work area. Still waiting. There is a serious issue with this organization and I will forfeit purchased insurance in the future. I'd rather pay full price than deal with this ever again.
