unauthorized switch to sky fitness
Planet Fitness where i was a member, decided to shut down its facility i was attending. And without authorization of its members decided to relocate them to not only a different town but a totally different fittness facility, Sky Fitness. I did not authorize this switch from planet fitness to sky fitness and very mad that they would have even think to do this to there members without proper authorization. I therefore would like to cancel my gym membership with sky fitness! And do not want to be bound to there contract. Thank You.

membership revoked
My husbands membership was revoked at Planet Fitness in Benton Harbor MI on mall dr.because the manager claimed my husband dropped the dumbbells, which he did not, he sat them down. This was only our second time being there. The first time we went the manager accused my husband of dropping the dumbbells, (which all he did was place them on the ground and...

I moved from upstate New York to Connecticut for an internship and immediately signed up for a monthly membership at Planet Fitness since it was the closest gym to where I lived. I had no problems while I went there. In October of 2011, I was preparing to move back to Rochester, NY so I went to the gym and verbally told the manager to cancel my membership...
Read full review of Planet Fitnessdebiting whenever and however much they like
Since December 2012 I have been debited 10 times on my bank account by Planet Fitness in Lynnwood Bridge. Four of those times were successful amounting to R952.
The debit dates are on the 3rd Dec 2012, 27th Dec 2012, the 2nd Jan 2013, the 12th Jan 2013, and the 25th Jan 2013. My contract clearly states debiting is only allowed on the 1st of every month!
The accounts department assistant Juliettes’ dismissive response to me was "Just go to your bank and reverse it". Not only will I incur costs for this reversal, but it will look bad on my credit record. I tried to apply for a cheque account beginning of Jan and thanks to this debacle with Planet Fitness, my application was DENIED.
I was then told that I owed R1068, and would NOT be able to use the facility until I paid it. I paid the amount in cash and received 2 statements one for "arrears" and one for “Monthly payment”?
Apparently I am now in CREDIT of R1000 HOWEVER JULLIETTE INFORMED ME THEY WILL STILL DEBIT MY ACCOUNT ON THE 1ST OF FEBRUARY FOR THE MONTHLY FEE!
In total since Dec 1 2012 I have paid R2020.00! My monthly fee is meant to be R426 ONLY!
I cannot get a straight answer out of anyone there, and what they say they are debiting is NOT what they are debiting, they are dismissive and just don't care. I keep getting told a different story about why I get debited whenever they feel like debiting me AND was told I DO NOT have a choice I HAVE to be debited, I cannot choose to pay cash on the 25th of every month!
DISGUSTED AND BEYOND ANGRY. This is NOT the way a company should treat a client, and it is EXTREMELY bad practice to abuse a clients bank account by just randomly debiting whenever you want, that is THEFT!
During this whole mess I have not received ONE email, sms, phone call, posted letter OR an apology!
misrepresentation
In Febuary 2012 I joined and payed Plnet Fitness R5580 for 36 months. I informed them that I may leave the city or the country within a year and how could I then get back the remaining months worth of money. I was told they would find someone to take over my membership or I could find someone to do so. I asked what would need to be paid for such a transaction and I was told they simply had to find someone to pay them the remaining months and they would refund me. I enquired to find someone to take over my subscription as the gym expereince was not working out for me and rather would have someone who'd enjoy it. I was not contacted or informed after calling and sending several messages that they could find someone to take over. I got told that they would find someone within a week. Its been 3months. I found someone to take it over, however they live in Moreleta Park. I then was told Id have to pay an R800 transfer fee from the one gym to the other. I was never indicated or informed of this possibility. On the case being referred to a senior who then transfered it to another as she was undergoing training informed me that to transfer member ship the person taking over would have to pay 50 % of the R5580 and an extra R300 or so to change from Lynwood to Moreleta Park. In this whole situation I do not get a cent back so therfore I essentially was cheated in giving R5580 and to have gift basketed a gym subscription to a friend for 50% which i was not recieve...so why would anyone pay 36 month to join if they rightly know they would be cheated out of getting remaining months back from somebody else that takes over especially when I indicated that I may not be here for the next 3 years? I had opted not to have R155 per month debited as they said it would be a simple and hassel free procedure to transfer from one member to another. I am deeply deeply angry and hurt, it feels like I have been used and abused for money. The concern and lack of attention to the situation the lack of information and blatant omission of figures, which seem to change from consultant to consultant is straight out manipulation! I want Planet Fitness to know how corrupt of a system they are, how disgusting it is that their employers feed their familiers by such means and that they owe me for the time and energy and yess they money they have stripped me of! Even if I remain in the country or move to another city in South Africa I will never join or reccomend this gym to anyone! I would recommend to buy video and work out at home/run etc than join Planet Fitness! Rather spend R500 on a ecercise dvd knowing what you paying for and what you will get out of it! My name i s Sarita Chohan Cell no: [protected]! I want my money back Planet Fitness!
gave the gym dr note to freeze membership, they didn't and claim I didnt submit medical documentation
I had surgery in April 2011 and submitted a doctors note to the staff member at Planet Fitness in Warren, MI and requested my membership be frozen. I was just approved to go back to full duties in Sept 2012, and went back to the gym to unfreeze my account. They told me that I owed $159 and my acct was cancelled in Dec 2011 and they never received medical documents therefore my acct was frozen. The lady stated to bring in the documents again and she would show the manager ERIC. He is so rude, and not customer friendly. He basically gave me to stories/lies and stated he could not do anything. I called their Corporate offices, and they were not helpful either. They did get ahold of the Franchise owner and he stated that he would cut the bill in half! I DON'T OWE THEM ANY MONEY-I WAS ON A MEDICAL DISABILITY! They did not do their job and note my account when I gave MEGAN the medical note back in April 2011. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.

dirty facilities
I have to admit it is an awesome deal. As a black club member I pay about half of what my roommate pays at her gym and I get 1/2 of cooler drinks, and unlimited tanning and all day use of the massage chairs. Unfortunately I'm African American, don't use the massage chairs and I don't want anything besides water when I work out. My biggest issue is the cleanliness of this facility. It is always disgusting in the changing rooms. It is clear that someone tries to mop or sweep the floors in there, but misses the corners. So it's sticky and dusty. Also their showers always full of air, and back up constantly. The water runs out of the showers when it is backed up and into the toilet area. This means you have to walk through standing water to get to the bathrooms. Also the toilets have sensors and I"m not sure if they just don't work or what, but sometimes you'll hear them flush when there is no one there, but when you go in to take care of business, it's impossible to get them to flush then. This place is really gross. I signed up because it was cheap and because it's "No judgement" but it is disgusting there. I've looked at pictures of other facilities and they seem to be clean, but if you are going to sign up for this place, please please please don't just look at the gym area, take a look at the bathrooms too.

Planet Fitness gives blacks a discount? Do white members know about this? I know Denny's had to in Michigan for making them sit in the back of the restaurant but I never heard about this one.
fraudulent billing
Planet fitness has been fraudulently biling me for seval years on a credit card that I didn't use vey much so I didn't notice the extra charges. I talked to Capitol One and they suggested that I cancel the credit card and that way I could absolutely stop the billing. I am a chronic pain patient who has had neck/ disk fusion surgery and I still see a Pain Management Specialist for monthly pain medication and Epidural Steridoal Injections about 3-4 times a year. Ther is no way my Dr. Would allow me to even join one of these kinds of clubs because of the imminent danger of re-hurting myself. Planet Fitness then opened a claim with a company called People Claim, who claims they are only to act as a go between and try to help both of the complaintants to work out this in a forum. Planet Fitness also made a refund suggestion of $1006.93 to resolve the issue. After that, Planet Fitness has stopped responding to the claim they themselves opened. I decided to take them up on their refund off of $1006.93 and just allow us to both go our separate ways and be done with this issue. People Claim said they are not responding. My claim number is [protected]. Would you please respond to this email and try to help me get the minimal refund? Thank you.

gym cancelaation
They are so rude here, they have no customer service what so ever, they won't help you cancel and just take your money. The guy Matt I spoke to on the phone was rude and horrible towards me, I got off the phone feeling bad. He didn't answer any of my questions and made it look like I was not a customer. I have been paying without using the gym, after...

I left planet-fatness because of their poor equipment and rude gym members. They have no free weight barbells what so ever.
Went in and had my Planet-Fatness membership canceled, I had a cancellation sheet signed by a planet-fatness member yet I was still billed the next month. I called in when I was billed, the manager Corin, acknowledged that I should not have been billed, apologized and told me she would have a refund check sent in the mail.
A week later no refund was received, I called in again and they told me my membership was still active and had not been canceled.

they don't know there own contract
THIS planet fitnes in houston by hammerly don't know their own contract they signed up a boy under 16 without warning us that he had to be supervised and the contract only says that the parents would allow them to go like permission to go by himself it doesn't say anything about having an adult with him they kkicked him out three times the first two times they apoligized and let him pass the third time we had to cancel the dam contract costing us 62 dollars when at this point it was their fault for not informing us of this is just ridiculous

planet fitness gym contract scam
I have had an account with Planet fitness and recently i had my name logged onto ITC check. when i signed up i didn’t want to commit for three year contract and the guy who enrolled me said that if you don;t swipe your tag for three months the account gets frozen per se. The problem arose when i did not get any calls or emails nor any post from the gym in over close to two years.
I phoned Planet fitness Montana, which was my branch, and then the lady there told me I was over due almost R4400. This was unacceptable and the lady put me through to accounts department where a gentleman told me that the money is not even reflecting at head office. the service then was so poor i could hardly believe it, he gave me number for the company that deals with the handed over accounts and there, after a hug struggle with finding the right person to speak to, i spoke to some form of management that told me they have had no details of my account.
After I told him the situation he agreed that this was absurd and that he would sort it out. I then waited for a call from him but to no avail. The following phone call was from a lady wanting to take payment arrangements and she was very rude and stating that “it was my own fault that the account got in arrears”. Highly upset i agreed to pay R250 rand off a month on the account. As then i had lost my job and then spoke to lady to make a double payment for the outstanding month and the the following month i went to the bank and saw I was on the ITC.
This I find very unacceptable as there is no record of anyone from the gym or there credit offices that phoned me in the almost two years that i was a member. I went to see a lawyer earlier this week and said that I definitely have a foot to stand on.Now i don;t want to go that way as is will take allot of time and money and it very unnecessary to drag this thing out. I will make my payments for the gym and do understand that an arrangement stays, but it was your gym and there responsibility to notify when the debit order was not going through.
I have recently visited the gym and got the lady there to print my details as it was on your system and NONE of the info was incorrect, accept my address was wrong. But there is no way I’m going to get a bad credit record for the plain lack of service and professionalism that i have received.
bait and switch advertising
I am filing a complaint today regarding collection practices and a bait and switch advertisement. I feel my rights were violated when the company opened a new location in my home area and stated on the TV advertisement, No contracts. This was advertised however when I went into the gym with my partner and reluctantly signed up as they sweetened the offer...

Me and my son joined Planet fitness in Aurora in Durbanville Cape Town. When i joined i was told that i need to pay a R100-00 deposit per access disc which means i paid R200-00 deposit. We completed that contract and then my son joined the Planet fitness gym at Cobble centre Durbanville (3 year contract). The guy in charge (Tony) took in the old disc and told him that he would activate it so that he could get access to the gym. I have spoken to Tony on a couple of occasions and informed him that i am making payments but my son do not have access to the gym. When i made the first payment i noticed that they added another R100-00 to the account again for a deposit for a disc. I indicated to the person assisting me that Tony took the old disc and was suppose to activate it and that the should take off the R100-00. Again i spoke to Tony and indicated that if my son cannot have free access to the gym i will not be making any payments till the problem is sorted. Every time i phone the gym then i must hear all the problems Tony created and that they busy sorting it out. No one from planet fitness contacted me. This morning i get an sms to say i am handed over because i did not make any payments. How can i make payments if my son does not have free access to the gym. I was not contacted by any staff to make payments. I feel that Planet Fitness did not honour the agreement. And if so there staff committed irregularities, why must i be held accountable

quality
This gym has racist rules.
No bandanas typically used to keep sweat out of one's face can not be worn for any reason. You can wear a bandana if you hide it with a baseball cap or a hoodie. Brilliant!
Le'ts be frank, usually, black people wear the bandanas. I have heard that the concern is that pf is afraid of gang activity. This is highly insulting but in case you don't care of the reasoning, understand that it is on everyone. To make this clear. If you are Jewish, no Yamaka, if you are muslim, same thing, no kufi cap and the list goes on. Reminder, you can hide it and sweat more if you wear a baseball cap or your hood.
Also, rules are only enforced when they feel like enforcing them
This combined with the lunk alarm, no grunting and inadequate equipment makes me long for the time to be over so I can leave this dump behind,
Stay away!

bait and switch
I am a soldier and travel a lot.. Was visiting Fort Drum in NY and needed to use a good gym off Base/. Well they lied directly to my face, and as soon as I tried to use anything in the gym other than...
Read full review of Planet Fitnessrefusal of refund
Well, my complaint is about Planet Fitness refusing to refund me. What happened is that I had a contract with them which was only going to expire on the 6th January 2012. During December 2011, Planet Fitness was running a special and were encouraging members to take out new contracts - which I also did, as it was a good deal. The new contract was taken out in December 2011 with the understanding that it will come into force on the 7th January 2012 - when the old conract had expired. After experiencing issues during the second week in January, with my access tag not working and everyone and everybody saying they will resolve the matter, I got so fed up that I decided to cancel the new contract on the 11th January 2012, followed by a cancelation letter in the form of an e-mail on the 12th January 2012. Planet Fitness management and their CEO refuse to refund me my money as they say I should have cancelled the new contract in December 2011. My question is, how can I have two contracts running at the same time, from the same company, for the exact same services..? This to me does not make business sense, nor does it make common sense ! Planet Fitness themselves even confirmed that according to their books, the new contract was to begin on the 7th January 2012. Their bad service pushed me to another gym and now they don't want to refund me..?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
THe staff doesn't care about you as most of them are high school/college kids who just want the free use of a gym and place to do their homework. Plus, the balances of disputed membership fees are typically so low, that no rational person will pursue this in court, even small claims court. There is no corporate hierarchy to appeal to as the simply pass the buck by saying each franchise is their own business and they have nothing to do with it. It's a cheap, and that's what gets 99% of everyone who uses the gym through the doors so you are truly getting what you pay for.
Planet Fitness is a sneaky, scummy business, that has NO regard for their members, even the ones who have been a part of their gym for years. Disgusting, thieving people.
cancellation of membership
Hi. I have sent an email to [protected]@planetfitness.co.za on the 22-11-2011 to cancel my gym membership. My contract says I can cancel my membership at any given time, as long as I send them an email and they will process two payments from the month of cancellation. I have only had one correspondence from that, stating that I need to pay them R5000...

horrible service
Very bad customer service. I have always been a loyal member of this gym in the past 2 and a half years. I always attend during my lunch hour andwhen get out of work cal my mother. Every time I walk into the gym I proceed to he fitting room while on the phone with my mother. The employees there prohibit the use of my cell phone in the FITTING ROOm. I have visited other planet fitnesss in the area and had never had this problem before. Employees are very mean an rude to me. Without notifying me, they cancelled my membership because I enter their gym with the CELL PHONE. Very horrible rules and services in the LANGHORNE GYM. I would recommend to STAY aWAY from this place.
