Mismanagement - aggressive and repetitive issue

Stop & Shop (among other grocers), in an attempt to cut payroll, have installed self-checkouts and self-scanners. I generally use the Stop & Shop on Newington Rd. in West Hartford. Since they typically have only 2 cashiers and 15 people queued up, I started using self-checkout. Then, about 6 weeks ago, they installed new machines where you cannot even put your bags on the shelf or it yells that you have to scan your item. So now, in addition to being my own cashier, I have to scan my stuff, put it on the shelf and THEN when there is TOO much stuff, I have to bag it and continue scanning while my bags sit on their dirty floors. I can no longer go from cart to scan to bag...they have added another step.
So...I started using the scanner. Twice in 4 days have been audited. This is a delightful experience where you scan your Scan-It and it immediately alarms for a clerk (if you can even find one) to come over and randomly select 7 of your items that you have already bagged and scan them again. Both times my order checked out appropriately. Both times my order only totaled $35-$37.
If you want me to be your cashier, Stop & Shop, put me on the damn payroll. Otherwise, stop wasting my time and make it easy to shop there. One more incident and I am finding another grocer. Selection is good, prices are ok, but NOT worth the hassle.
Desired outcome: Adjust your equipment and criteria for audits!

We went to check out and there were no more paper bags. We asked if they could get some from the clerks that were walking around with them. They said no. We live in N. Providence and recycle. I then went to the main desk and she said those bags (which there were hundreds around) were only for Curbside. I called corporate office and they said that was incorrect and someone would contact me. Nothing. I have been shopping at Stop and Shop for years. Market Basket is almost ready to open and they will be seeing me.
Desired outcome: If customers want paper bags they should be allowed.

On January 21st, I went to Stop & Shop in Everett to purchase items for patients at the Isolation Center. I had to different orders. I normally to shop for items there at least 4 times a day for a number of people.
On this particular day it was second visit of the day. I collected all the items I had been told to and headed to the self-checkout lane. I scanned my fist order and after I paid the receipt didn't come out. I asked one the associates to help me. She came and checked the screen and told me I had not scanned anything. I told her I had scanned and paid but she insisted I had not paid. I scanned my items again and paid but receipt didn't come out. She opened the receipt machine up and fixed it. I told her I had paid the first time but she didn't listen to me and said I should stop giving her attitude. I scanned and paid for the second order and got my receipt and put my items in my cart and starting heading out.
As I was pushing my cart a lady asked me how my day was and I said it was good
The next sentence from her was "I know your kind"
I w2as like >excuse me?
She said "I know your kind. You didn't scan all your items>
I told her I did
She said I nknow your kind you come here to steal stuff to get money to go strip clubs"
So asked her if she was calling me a thief
She said she knew I didn't scan all items and I had been caught.
She asked to follow her as she checked on my items. I told her I couldn't wait to see her make a fool of herself. I Said that I shop there at least 15 times a week and had been doing so foe th3e last 9 months. She asked me for items I told her they were in the cart. She asked me to to sit by the cashier lanes as the cashier scanned all my items again. She asked me for my ID and took a picture of and also took a picture of me. After the cashier finished scanning all the items and compared them to my receipts, they found out I had paid for everything and they were wrong. The lady walked me out but didn't offer any apology/
I went back to the hotel and gave the p3ople who had sent me their items. One of them told me they had a double charge/ I told him to show me his account on the app on his phone, He showed them to me and I took photos. I asked him for his debit card so I could go back to stop & shop and get the fund.
I went back to the Store and asked for someone to assist me. A lady came up and asked me what the matter was I showed he the pictures I had taken of the double charge. I explained what had happened earlier and she said she would go to the back office to check on the charges and came back and said she would refund the money and apologized for the double charge,
I got my refund and went on get some items I had been sent for. I paid for my items and went back to the hotel; when I reached the hotel I realized I didn't have my phone. I asked one of my colleges if I could use his phone to find my phone. I took his phone and went to the website find my phone. My phone pinged somewhere around the Stop & shop area. I went back to the store and asked if anybody had found a phone. I was told no one had found a phone and they looked around for it. The lady who had help with the refund called my phone but we could hear it.
I told them I would come back the next day to see if it had been turned in.
The next day Friday (1/22) I went to the store and asked for the manager. He came and met with me and I explained what had occurred the night before. He said they hadn't found the phone and apologized for the way I was treated. He asked the cashier at the information stand to give me a $50 gift card for my troubles. I explained to him that I was very concerned about my phone as it was brand new and expensive. I had just gotten a Samsung Note 20 5G which cost around $1200. He said he would talk to his supervisor and would call me the following week.
On Monday I went back to the store and he was in a meeting so we didn't talk. On Tuesday we met and I informed him I would be filing a complaint against the store and his associates. He told me I had the right too and when I asked if I could view the security footage of the time I was there he said he would have ask his boss.
As of that day my main concern was my phone. But when I think about it I get very mad as I was racially discriminated on, called a thief and had my phone stolen at the store. Why doesn't the store want me to view the security footage? I believe that the loss prevention officer was told by an associate that I had stolen items, because if the loss prevention officer had been following me, they would have known that I scanned all items. The other thing was the public humiliation I suffered been told sit infron the store with customers looking at me having my picture taken and my ID. The lady is not a police and has not right to treat me or anybody like that. Her comments of "I know your kind' leave a lot to be desired and she offered no apology.
My next thing to do is to file a police report of the issue and get a lawyer to sue Stop & Shop for their discrimination and stealing my phone. I'll also inform the labor union, EEOC, MCAD
I will be getting back to you when I file my claims
