Vestiaire Collective Review: Poor Customer Service and Risky Policies for Sellers
I recently sold my vintage Burberry handbag on Vestiaire Collective, and while the process started off smoothly, it quickly turned into a nightmare. After receiving a label from the website, I sent my package via UPS. However, UPS was unable to locate the street where the buyer lived, despite it being a central location close to the university. My package was stuck in a warehouse, and I tried to contact both UPS and Vestiaire for help. Unfortunately, the customer service representative I spoke with, Franck T, seemed to have trouble understanding the situation and was not very helpful.
After several attempts to get in touch with the buyer and resolve the issue, I eventually received my handbag back. However, I lost the sale and went through a lot of trouble for nothing. This was not the first time I had experienced issues with UPS while using Vestiaire Collective. In a previous instance, UPS had chased me for payment, and Vestiaire had not followed through on their promise to refund me.
I also spoke with friends who had sold on Vestiaire Collective and discovered that one had fallen victim to direct shipping fraud. The buyer had swapped the item and claimed to have received something else, and Vestiaire had not provided any support or asked for evidence. When my friend asked for help, she received generic copy and paste replies that did not address her concerns.
It seems that Vestiaire Collective's customer service is outsourced to a cheap labor country, and the staff may not be adequately trained or equipped to handle issues. Additionally, the website's policies regarding lost packages and fraud prevention are concerning. They require sellers to send their ID in an open email, which puts them at risk of identity fraud. This is not a requirement from carriers like UPS, DHL, or FedEx, and the latter even expressed shock at such a demand.
Overall, while Vestiaire Collective may offer a platform for selling designer items, their customer service and policies leave much to be desired. As a seller, you may be seen as a cash cow, and the website may not prioritize your safety or security. It is important to be aware of these issues before using the platform.
Disappointing Experience with Vestiaire Collective: Poor Customer Service and Lack of Seller Protection
I recently had an experience with Vestiaire Collective that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I sold my vintage Burberry handbag through the website and was issued a label to send it off. However, when UPS attempted to deliver the package, they claimed they couldn't find the street and the parcel was stuck in a warehouse. I tried to contact both UPS and Vestiaire, but the customer service representative, Franck T, seemed to have trouble understanding the situation and was unhelpful.
After a lot of trouble, I finally received my item back, but lost the sale in the process. This isn't the first time I've had issues with UPS through Vestiaire, and I've heard from friends who have experienced direct shipping fraud without any support or protection from the website. It's concerning that Vestiaire seems to outsource their customer service to a cheap labor country, and the responses I received were generic and unhelpful.
What's even more concerning is that Vestiaire requires sellers to send their ID in an open email if an item goes missing, despite the fact that carriers like UPS, DHL, and FedEx do not require this. When I spoke with a representative from FedEx, they were shocked that a company would make such a demand and said it could potentially violate GDPR laws. It's disappointing that Vestiaire doesn't seem to care about the safety and protection of their sellers, and instead prioritizes low prices for designer items.
Overall, my experience with Vestiaire Collective was frustrating and disappointing. I hope they take steps to improve their customer service and protection for sellers in the future.
My Experience Selling on Vestiaire Collective: Beware of Shady Practices for US Sellers
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience with Vestiaire Collective (vestiairecollective.com) and give you a heads up if you're thinking of selling on their platform. I've been selling on other platforms for almost a decade now and have been with Tradesy since they pretty much started. In all the years of selling through Tradesy, there has only been one time where the carrier lost a Chanel backpack I sold. Tradesy worked on my behalf to get my money back from the carrier and I got every penny back.
Well, this just happened with VC. I posted a few, not so expensive, items to sell on their platform to test them before adding my high-end luxury items. Well, I made my first sale and immediately noticed you do not have the option of choosing your own postage but instead they send a prepaid label. Their prepaid label goes through Fedex first and then on to USPS for some reason which then causes a long delivery time for the customer. On Tradesy, we could choose our own postage or a prepaid label. I always chose my own postage (I know as a customer we are always anxious to receive our items quickly) and with choosing my own postage, I could send it 2-day priority. Also, I was able to add the option of making sure the carrier got a signature release so that the package was securely delivered and not left on a porch or out in the open. And, lastly because I was choosing my own postage I was able to add insurance to my high-end sales. Yes, with these added options the postage was a bit more in cost but this was a trade-off for a safe transaction for both the buyer and seller. Hence why I was able to get all my money back from the carrier when they lost the Chanel backpack.
Back to the VC sale. I dropped off my package within 24 hours of the sale to Fedex and then waited for it to be received by the buyer. When I finally got confirmation from Fedex and VC (yes, I even got an email from VC saying it was delivered on a Tuesday) I waited for the 72-hour timeline that VC gives the buyer.
After the 72 hours time passes, I check my VC account and it says transferring payment to PayPal. I check my PayPal account (they say on their site that PayPal payments are made in 24 hrs) and there is no payment in my PayPal account. I check again on Sunday and I still have not received the payment so I contact the VC customer service. They tell me to wait until the end of the day on Sunday and if I haven't received payment to contact them again. Well, it's 4:30 pm on Monday and still nothing in my PayPal. I again contact VC and this customer service is now saying that the buyer claims she never received the package and that's why they haven't paid. I showed her the screenshots of all the tracking and delivery as well as the email from VC saying the package was delivered and she goes on to say that both those emails are not verification of delivery! What the heck! If both the tracking and delivered confirmation from the carrier and VC's email are not verification then I don't know what is. I also asked her why the previous customer service rep I spoke with didn't tell me there was a problem with delivery and to wait till the end of the day for payment. She couldn't tell me.
I have not received one email from VC stating there was a problem. It wasn't until I contacted them twice that she finally said they will look into this. Well, it is now the next day and I still haven't gotten a follow-up email from VC in regards to the concerns I raised. Tradesy always followed up with me via email if there was ever a communication made through chat online or a phone call from the previous day.
I also noticed the "payment is on the way" message on my VC account has disappeared. This is a very shady platform for US sellers. Be careful selling your luxury items on here. This must be an ongoing issue with US sellers since VC took over because a forum was created by someone where sellers are talking about their experiences. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision about selling on VC.
My Experience with Vestiaire Collective: A Platform for Buying and Selling Vintage Clothing
I'm here to share my experience with Vestiaire Collective, a platform for buying and selling vintage clothing. I had four transactions with them before I decided to delete my account. Unfortunately, all four transactions had their own set of issues, big or small.
My first attempt to purchase from Vestiaire was unsuccessful. The third-party seller did not disclose the accurate measurements and condition of the clothing to me. However, Vestiaire's authentication staff caught the seller issue early and contacted me about their findings. I decided to disapprove the transaction, and Vestiaire terminated it for me. Although Vestiaire received the authentication fee, I appreciated their honesty and transparency.
My second attempt to purchase was successful, but Vestiaire skipped the step of reporting their findings before shipping my purchase out to me. I did not get to ask the authentication staff any questions or address my concerns. Luckily, the item matched the description from the third-party seller, so the purchase was considered a success. Although Vestiaire got their authentication fee, I would have appreciated more communication from them.
My third attempt to purchase was fishy in two ways. First, the seller claimed the item was still available, but they did not send it to Vestiaire within the stated deadline. Second, Vestiaire gave me two different responses about the progress of the transaction. One staff said the seller shipped it and it just arrived at Vestiaire, while on the same day, another staff said the seller told them the item is no longer available. I decided to take the refund before things got worse.
The fourth attempt was the worst. The third-party seller described the item as "never worn," "excellent condition," and "perfect without any flaws." However, the photos of the item were not displayed "flat," making it hard for me to check the item properly. I purchased the item, and it was shipped to Vestiaire for authentication. However, the item was "full of damages," and Vestiaire's authentication staff did nothing. I requested a refund of the authentication fee and $30 for the parts and labor cost to fix and dry clean the jacket. Vestiaire did not approve my request, and I decided to delete my account.
If you are a buyer or a collector of vintage clothing, I suggest avoiding Vestiaire Collective. Although their authentication process may give buyers a false sense of security, my experience showed me the dishonest and ugly aspects of the platform. I have had far better luck on eBay using PayPal as my payment method.
Vestiaire Collective Deleted My Account and Stole My Items - A Nightmare Experience
I gotta say, I'm pretty ticked off at Vestiaire Collective right now. They went and deleted my account on December 19th, claiming that I was selling the same items as other sellers on their website. But here's the thing - at least 10 other sellers are still selling those same items! So why was I singled out?
To make matters worse, I had a bunch of ongoing sales that I was assured I would be kept informed about via email. But guess what? I haven't received a single email about them. And since my account was deleted, I can't even track the items or use the chat feature to get in touch with customer service.
I've tried emailing them multiple times over the past 5 weeks, but all I get is a generic response saying they haven't forgotten about me. Well, clearly they have! And to top it all off, they're having issues with their UK courier EVRI, which is causing even more problems.
My lawyer says I can take them to court to recover all of my outstanding items, which they basically stole from me. And I'm not just talking about the items themselves - I'm also going to be charging them for my time and legal fees. I'm not going to let them get away with this.
Here's a list of all the items they still owe me:
- Item number *** (lost by courier, payment not proven)
- Item number *** (smashed by courier, payment not proven)
- Item number *** (still waiting for collection, payment not proven)
- Item number *** (still uncollected, payment not proven)
- Item number *** (being held for sale, not returned despite multiple requests)
- Item number *** (issue reported, no update provided, payment not proven)
- Item numbers *** through *** (payment not proven)
That's a total of 17 items. I just want this whole mess to be over with as soon as possible, especially since I'm dealing with health issues that are only being made worse by the stress of this situation. So come on, Vestiaire Collective - let's get this sorted out!
My Disappointing Experience with Vestiaire Collective: Missing Item and Poor Communication
I recently had a bad experience with Vestiaire Collective, an online marketplace for buying and selling luxury fashion items. As a new seller based in the United States, I joined the platform in December 2017 and started posting items for sale shortly after. Unfortunately, my experience with Vestiaire Collective was far from positive.
I sold a Gucci jacket with a wide double metal buckle patent leather belt. I carefully wrapped the belt with white tissue paper, leaving the big buckle visible so that whoever opened the package would see it immediately. I even took a picture of the jacket with the wrapped belt before sealing the FedEx box and made sure to inform the worker at FedEx that there were two items in the box. I sent the box on January 9th, 2018, and received an email from Vestiaire Collective's Quality Control team in New York on January 11th, 2018, stating that they had received the box. However, by 1:30 PM that same day, I received another email from Vestiaire Collective stating that the belt was missing.
I immediately contacted the company, but they were closed for the day. I emailed Vestiaire Collective with pictures of the wrapped belt and asked for an investigation into the missing item. However, by 1:43 AM the next day, I received a message on their online site stating that the buyer had declined the new price offer, which I had not agreed to sell because I had not been able to talk to a Vestiaire Collective representative. They demanded that I either sell the jacket at a lower price without the belt or have it returned to me at my own expense.
I called the company and spoke to a representative named Richard, who promised to look into the case and contact me later. However, I received another message from Vestiaire Collective on January 11th, 2018, notifying me that another one of my items, a Dries Van Noten wrap skirt, had been sold. I was now afraid to ship this item, fearing that it would also be lost.
I called Vestiaire Collective again on January 16th, 2018, and was told that they were still working on my case and would get back to me. However, despite numerous calls and promises to contact me, I have not heard back from Vestiaire Collective in over two weeks.
As a seller, I want to be able to sell as many items as possible and make my buyers happy. I carefully listed all the details about my items, including any flaws, and appreciate all of my buyers. However, my experience with Vestiaire Collective has been extremely disappointing. I chose the platform because I thought I could trust a company that acts as a broker to be safe for both sellers and buyers. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
It is unacceptable that Vestiaire Collective is unable and unwilling to manage their workers and communicate with their customers. They confirmed the missing belt and shuffled the new price of the jacket without the belt to the buyer, who understandably cancelled the sale. As a result, I have lost money and trust in the platform.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Vestiaire Collective to anyone looking to buy or sell luxury fashion items. Their inability to protect merchandise and communicate with customers is a major issue, and I hope that they will take steps to address these problems in the future.
Unreliable and Dishonest: My Experience with Vestiaire Collective
Vestiaire Collective is a company that lacks integrity and responsiveness. As a first-time buyer, I purchased a pair of Chanel earrings on 9/7/21. I had received discounts totaling $99.99, but VC attempted to charge me a customs fee for a seller in my same country (US) and I was unable to use USWELCOME50 for $50 off first purchase due to a problem with their app. VC agreed to refund me the ship fee, but then wrongly claimed the earrings inauthentic and canceled the order, ignoring both my request and seller's request for 3rd party authentication. Both the seller and I knew the earrings were authentic, but VC refused to reinstate the sale or provide a voucher to cover the financial loss ($99.99 + $28.50 auth fee). The seller lost her Expert Status over their wrong assessment and then finally her status was reinstated and the earrings reposted. I am still trying to purchase these same earrings, but I am insisting that they honor a voucher for $128.49 (the financial loss of $99.99 and the charge for the Auth Fee). The auth fee should be credited because they made an incorrect assessment and wrongly canceled the order. I should not be paying for an incorrect assessment and all this trouble.
To date, I am still trying to get them to right their wrong here. I am not interested in just any pair of earrings. I want the earrings I paid for, which are a rare find from a prior collection. The financial loss and stress they caused me is valued far more than the value of the earrings. The RetailMeNot cash back offer is no longer effective. They are dishonest and claim they provided a refund of the ship fee, but they did not. They merely canceled the order. I informed VC repeatedly that I would repurchase the earrings but I needed the voucher from them to not pay more than I paid on the original purchase. While in reconciliation process and waiting far too long for responses, they posted my earrings for sale and sold them to someone else. I insisted that VC reinstate my order and inform the buyer that these earrings were already purchased. VC currently has the earrings, and has not mailed them out to the buyer. I have informed VC that they must cancel that order and send me my earrings. This is all due to their error. This is the only resolution I see short of a lawsuit.
Their business practices are highly suspect. Several other reviewers have stated that VC is wrongly canceling their orders also. Sellers are not receiving back their goods. I read another 1-star review by a seller who stated that the buyer had claimed there was no Hermes bag in the box received, and VC simply stated that it wasn't supposed to go to the buyer and was being investigated. An Hermes bag. Seriously? After reading through the 1-star reviews, I wonder if VC is keeping items for their own personal reasons/gain? If this is not the case, then buyers beware: at best, VC does not have expert Chanel authenticators and they do not have the expertise to differentiate what is fake from what is real. They cause more trouble than anything else.
Mixed Experience with Vestiaire Collective: A Cautionary Tale for Buyers and Sellers
Hey guys, I wanted to share my experience with Vestiaire Collective. I recently had an issue with one of my items being deemed 'non compliant' due to a missing strap. As an experienced seller with 45 successful transactions on their platform, I was confident that I had included the original strap in the package and wrapped it properly. However, when I contacted their customer service, they claimed to have a video of their team unwrapping the package and not finding the strap.
I was frustrated with the situation, as losing a strap is a huge loss for a seller. I reached out to their customer service multiple times, but didn't receive any updates for several days. This caused prolonged waiting time for my buyer and for me. I felt like they weren't being responsible to both their buyers and sellers, especially considering the 30% commission they take from each sale.
After a lot of back and forth, I discovered that they had a quality control process where they would claim an item was 'partially compliant' and give the seller two options: reduce the item's price or have it sent back. In my case, they claimed the shoulder strap was missing and gave me no option to explain or comment on their quality report. I sent them my bag, but they stole my shoulder strap and didn't respond to my emails or calls.
It was a frustrating experience, and I wanted to warn others before buying or selling with them. However, after some time and persistence, I was able to get in touch with a helpful customer service representative named Joanna. She arranged for me to send the returned bag back to their warehouse and promised to arrange payment within 7 days. I received the payment in my PayPal account yesterday, and I'm happy to say that the problem has been resolved.
Overall, my experience with Vestiaire Collective was a stressful one, but I appreciate the help I received from Joanna and the resolution of the issue. I would give them 4 stars instead of 1, but I still caution others to be careful when using their platform.

Policy/buying and selling/lost of purchase
On 11/11/2023. I placed a bid for an item, which later the seller accepted the bid. It stated then that I had 24 or 48 hours, I don't remember which to make the purchase. While I was paying for the item not even an hour later, I get the message that the item had been sold. I contacted the seller letting him know that he has done that wrong and that he had...

Shame on this company
Unresponsive in customer support
VC claims to have 24/7 support but you can only chat with them and when you do, they don't respond. In addition, you are unable to open a new chat/issue until the current one is closed.
The mailing service lost my package. I am trying to get a hold of someone at VC to open an investigation on the issue. In the support chat, they told me to provide all my personal information and proof of mailing and drop off receipt. I respond with all of this information (immediately) and asked them to review to make sure they have everything they need to open an investigation. The support then goes silent, despite several requests and messages. No word.
I have had other issues with seller support at VC. I do not have confidence that they care about the sellers once they have received their money.
Claimed loss: I have lost the value of the item. I could have sold it on another platform by this time.
Desired outcome: Acknowledgement of my complaint and compliance with seller support as per the VC website is expected.
Delivery of handbag
I placed an order for a Gucci bag. The item was due to be delivered on Saturday 28th October 2023. The item did not arrive. I checked the shipping data with DPD and it stated it was at their hub. I then contacted Vestiaire to open an investigation. They requested a written statement, copy of my passport. I have sent them these details. They now state that the bag is with DPD and I should collect it. But they have provided no details of how or where to collect it. No reason for not delivering even though I paid for delivery. No apology for not completing the service.
Claimed loss: £188.50
Desired outcome: Delivery of the bag or a full refund
Authenticity checks, a complete joke, think twice before buying.
I decided to use vestiaire as I was lead to believe this was a trustworthy site, how wrong was I. I saw a Gucci marmont bag for sale. In good used condition. Described as with box and dustbag, no receipt. I decided to purchase the bag, and for added peice of mind I paid a fee to Vestiaire for this to be authenticated. The bag arrived on the 18th October...

I have sold an item on VC for an Hermes handbag.

The customer cancelled the sales afterwards.
I miss clicked the bag to be relisted instead of to be sent back.
I have contacted VC on 13/9/2023 and they confirmed me that my bag would be sent back within 5 days.
Nothing had happened and I contacted again and they claimed they would send back the bag within 10 days.
Nothing happened again and I contacted for the third time on 26/9/2023 trying to get them send me a confirmation and update me status regarding the shipment.
They deliberately delayed answering my requests on the chats and took my item down without even sending me back my handbag...
I am so frustrated and felt like my patience is being tested to the maximum.
Desired outcome: I would want them to send me back my bag asap and not necessarily took down my listing at the same time.

Costumer service from nightmare! I am unable to print my postage out. Normally I always use the same address. This time shown something wrong with my address. Then i added the same address again . But it's still not working. I contact "Jaden T" from customer service. Which left me feeling greater disappointed then the system's error. Jaden refused to help for fix the postage problem.Saying nothing he/she can do.And left the chat open and quiet. Even I have asked to close the chat. Then I can open the chat with others to ask for help. As a Business seller on Ebay for many years.Get through all problems in E-commerce business.Lost goods,a package cut open.Customer service team always willing to help to find the way. Never experience a arrogant and disinterested service agent like this before in my all life.Such a employee who bring the reputation down the way
Desired outcome: I need help to print the postage out.But lazy costumer service say no to me.
Duty/taxes
After my offer was accepted, I went to pay for the item. I noticed that over 30% was added for import charges. The item in question was £125. This is £10 under the point at which duty/vat is required when importing the goods to the UK. The item in question was coming from Cyprus. I chatted with Spencer R, who was most unhelpful. He told me to just pay it, and it will be fine. When challenged, he said pay it and we will then refund it. This is so unprofessional and really not an ethical way of operating!
Desired outcome: Import charges of £46.40 removed and I will proceed with the purchase of the Prada wedges.
Overcharging of import duties and taxes
I recently made two purchases on VC of Chanel shoes from Singapore and from Belgium. I was materially overcharged import duties and taxes. I raised the issue with the VC team before and after purchasing but I have received no valid response and given they only operate their customer services through a chat, it is quite difficult to discuss. I don’t think the company is taking my claim seriously. I have forwarded derails of my own calculations and screenshots of uk gov guidance as well as other online calculation tools to prove they are wrong. This is a very serious matter as the systemic overcharging of duties is fraudulent and needs to be addressed. Below is a very simple example which I have shared with VC and got no response. Please look at the attachments.
Desired outcome: Vc needs to refund me for overcharging and correct their calculation methodology going forward. Or they should be banned from wrongly calculating and over charging customers in the UK. This isa very serious offence they are committing.
No answer to my simple question. Thrown out of several chats, because they don't want to answer me?
I have sold a bag on Vestiaire Collective. Because it was my first time via this platform (or any other similar platform) I asked to have the bag checked by them. They sent me the report, wich told me that there were stains and scratches that the seller didn't mention. Ok I could live with that, after all it is a vintage used bag. But the 3rd point in their...

I received an email with a 15% discount code valid for 24 hours (code FRENCH15). I applied it to the bag purchase but kept getting error message. As I was about to board a flight and there was already another offer on the bag, I purchased it anyway and later that same day contacted VC to explain what had happened.
I’ve been chasing them ever since to honour the code that applied on the day I made the purchase as any honorable company would do. Makes me even question whether the code was genuine in the first place.
Desired outcome: I would like VC to honour the code and refund the value of the discount which equates to c.£450 - it was a big ticket item. If they do this, I will keep shopping with them but will take my business elsewhere.

Vestiaire collective/shoes purchase
On the 28th of June 2023 I’ve placed an order on VC, a pair of Amina Muaddi Lupita mules (paid £333.93)
The only available shipping option was to a drop of point, hence I selected one (Cusl Milano)
Over the next 3 weeks the parcel got held/lost, couldn’t be delivered (no idea why) but somehow the courier finally managed to ship it to my place and on July 27th I received it. Unfortunately, when I opened the box i found a ‘Yamaha drive chain kit’ (!) instead of my shoes. I guess to fake the weight? Up until today, all VC was able to tell me is that according to their ‘investigation’ the parcel has been delivered regularly and that the seller has sent the exact item as described. No help, no item received, no refund. I basically got stolen £333.93

I am having exactly the same issue with them, courier company UPS , buyer did not collect the item item was send back to me , ups invoiced me and Vestiaire is refusing to reimburse me for undeliverable item. As a seller I have done nothing wrong, but customer service staff is very badly trained and incompetent and inconsistent..
