My sim swap request was declined due to them saying that I have provided incorrect answers.In reality no one keeos times, dates and amounts of recharges made simply because you are not waiting for your phone to get lost.Besides the fact that I cannot use both my internet and cellphone banking Iam not accessible for work, my child`s school and even for my business that is mainly an online business.I contacted cell c right trying to verify this information up to no avail.I have ported to cell c from mtn and now starting to regret my decision.

The have sent me to a cell store which im not even be able to access for the whole week as I am working on site.

This rather stressful and annoying.My life is on stand still.

A security check is a mandatory part of the SIM swap process and it is important that you as the customer pass it. The security check is done to protect you as the customer as well as Cell C. This is also done to eliminate fraud.

Was the SIM card RICA registered under your name? If so, please send us the RICA serial number of the new SIM card + your Cell C and contact number to sm@cellc.co.za.

As per RICA legislation we can only assist you with a SIM swap if the number is in your name and was being actively used by you. You also need to pass the mandatory security check before we can action the SIM swap for you. There is a lot of fraud when it comes to SIM swaps and that is why we take the necessary steps to protect you as the customer as well as Cell C.

Hi, My name is Emmanuel and I totally agree with the above complaint as i'm currently sitting with the same issue.
Cannot do a sim swap coz of those security questions that they say I've failed, i mean who has time to take note of all those things on a day to day basis. There has to be another better alternative to some of those "security questions"..

Dear Mr Mannex

Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention.

As you are aware by now, we cannot bypass a security check. It is fundamental in the completion of this process.

Please get a new SIM card that is not registered. Forward the RICA serial number, Cell C number + contact number to sm@cellc.co.za

If the SIM card was not initially registered by you, then we are not able to assist with a SIM swop.

Hi

Im so devastated, i cant acess my banking app, whatsapp and anything for that matter.It is bad enough that i was mugged now this.I called Cell C to do a sim swap and they told me i had failed it twice, then i went to the store and they told me my number is not registered, mind you i had bought it from one of their promoting agents.Now i called for the last time and the consultant told me that he cant do a sim swap because my number does not have any saved records therefore no answers to be verified.

I am so dissapointed at the service these guys offer, it is like we as customers do not matter.

CELL C IS CHASING THEIR CUSTOMERS AWAY WITH THESE RIDICULOUS SECURITY QUESTIONS. YOU NEVER PASS THEM. LIKE TELKOM DID THEY MUST FIND A REASONABLE WAY OF DOING THIS. OR THE MUST CREATE AN APP UNDER GOOGLE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS TO KEEP THEIR CELLPHONE ACTIVITIES. WHAT SECURITY DO THIER QUESTIONS BRING BECAUSE EVEN CRIMINALS CAN PASS THEM IF THEY WANT.

TELKOM ONLY NEED YOUR ID TO DO A SIMSWOP IN THEIR KIOSKS AND TELKOM SHOPS. NO FUNNY QUESTIONS ASKED BECAUSE THEY COMPARE TO WHAT THEY SEE IN THEIR COMPUTER SYSTEM AND LOOK AT YOUR FACE AND YOUR FACE IN YOUR ID. SIMPLE AS THAT.

FOR CELL C EVEN IF YOU BRING YOUR ID TO THEIR CELL C SHOP THEY WILL STILL ASK YOU THESE RIDICULOUS SECURITY QUESTIONS. I THINK THIS IS THEY WAY THEY WANT TO SELL MORE SIM CARDS.
PEOPLE ARE LEAVING CELL C BECAUSE OF THIS.

THEY MUST USE THE FINGER PRINT SECURITY IN THE FUTURE INSTEAD OF THESE RIDICULOUS SECURITY QUESTIONS. 😎

From seeing the responses from Cell C in this thread, it is abundantly clear that they do not understand what their customers are saying, quite simply put, Cell C, we know there must be reasonable security checks put in place to avoid fraud, but these questions are based on having a great memory and are turning customers away. The answer you should give is that you will look into new ways of performing these checks so that your customers can do a simple sim swap without having to prove that they possess an A+ short term memory. There is a problem with this system. See this as useful customer research and act on it. My partner answered some key questions, like specific recharge amounts and dates and number he dialed in the last 24hrs, it was still not enough. It's absurd. I had to laugh at the situation. He's with a different network now.

Having to loose not one,not two but three cellphones in a period of 5 months and with all those 3 phones i had to change my number all the time cause cell c has been telling me i failed the security questions, so i decided to write every single thing i did on my phone, like the last recharge date, and the amount and all but "voila "I failed again, with every correct detail recorded by me and present next to me.This is just too emotionally draining as we applied for work with those numbers and we need work to provide for our families. How do you fail a test with an answering sheet next to you?I bought the sim from a local store and it was rica'd already, how do you even manufacture cell that already rica active anyway? I wont take this lying as i need my numbers back so i could port to other networks with those numbers cause your system is really dysfunctional and a time consuming rubbish that needs attention

Your security questions are so ridiculous, how am i suppose to remember how many times ive recharged, how much the airtime was and all those stupid questions u ask. You need to do better because this is so disappointing. My life is on hold now coz i can't do a sim swap since the agents keep telling me that i failed the test. Find better security methodssss. Veryy Disappoint !
