file complaint regarding refusal of bathroom based on race and gender
I recently went into the dollar general store and asked for the key to the bathroom. The manager was hostile and rude, denying me access by saying the bathroom is out of order and unless I want to fix it myself to go across the street to the Wawa. I was taken aback by her belligerent attitude, but proceeded to get what I came there for. Upon checking out, I mentioned that I hope she wasn't lying to me. She proceeded to go on a rant, telling me she was not going to ring up my sale, saying I was very rude and respectful, to leave the store, and she was calling the police on me. I laughed and asked why she was calling the police, and she said I was never going to shop there again, and that she was going to teach me a lesson today. I photographed her name and a picture of her and left. After about 15 minutes, I thought it was in my interest to go back to that store to see if there were any signs on the bathroom door indicating that it was out of order. There were, and I apologized to her. She again told me to get out of the store, she was calling the police, and she was going to teach me a lesson today. I never used profanity, raised my voice, or disrespected her. I also learned she was the manager. In my opinion that kind of belligerent attitude, along with calling the police, and threatening me she was going to teach me a lesson, over something so mundane is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. I shop at the Dollar General multiple times a week and this has shaken my confidence in this store, doubting a reasonable atmosphere to shop. I would like this incident looked into and an explanation of why I was disrespected and threatened.
customer service
6315 Scenic Hwy, Baton Rouge la 70805 Saturday April 7 2018
Today a woman name Virginia at the location was very rowdy and rude. My nephews came in with his grandmother and before he could walk in she told him to get out. My mother asked why and she ignored her. So she told his mother and I what happen and we went back to figure out why they was put out and the guy at the front counter said that she said something happen a while ago and he went got her. So she said that a incident happen where one of them cursed another employee out so his mother called him and he said that they accused them of stealing and made them empty their pocket and they found nothing. From my experience as a Assistant manager of a store a employee can't accuse a customer of stealing unless they know for sure because of legal action can take place. So she explain and got rowdy and ghetto and kicked us out and threaten to call the police because we was asking a simple question which the situation could have been fixed by telling his grandmother when they tried to come in but she instead got rude and very unprofessional. This is their neighborhood dollar general now they can't come in nor us because they kicked us out because a simple question and a incident where they could have told the mother or grandmother and the problem would have been fixed. I also went back in to ask her her name so I can contact home office and tell them this incident she grabbed her tag and said you can't read and said I better get out! That isn't the way to handle the situation and I believe that she should be counseled on how to handle situation like I stated and her customer service skills. I understand the store is in a bad area and people get crazy but we didn't come to her crazy we was wondering what was the problem with my 16 year old nephew and why he couldn't come back in. I don't think it's right for them to tell us we can't come back in because of a simple question nor because of my nephew incident they shouldn't have that right to keep somebody out the store who's shows no threat or didn't threat them
the employee's and the store is a mess
You have employee's that do not where a uniform where ball hats that is not uniform, also smell, different colored hair and then you have peoples moms their all day long standing at the front starring at customers and making them very uncomfortable . Not only that they are very rude and hateful. Complaining about the customers they are waiting on and talking about them. The store is a complete mess and the shelf's are always empty never have anything. Over all it is the worst store that we have been in.
store is a complete mess!
I was shopping at store #14902 in Statesville NC and have been for a few weeks now. There's a Lot of cardboard in containers on the side of the building with trash all around the containers. Also, while attempting to shop in the store there is a lot of products and containers blocking the aisles making it impossible to shop. Store is very unorganized and availability of products have decreased drastically. On multiple occasions I have noticed an employee I believe his name is Kendrick is always on the phone and I feel that is unprofessional and rude. That store has become a trash hole. I will never shop in that store again.

I always enjoy shopping at this store but recently a new person was hired there. I'm angry at the way I'm treated when I get to the register to check out. I always say hello to whoever is behind the counter, but with her I don't even bother! She's rude and doesn't care about what she's doing. I had heart surgery recently. I bought three bottles of pop and she proceeded to put all three in one bag, not even double bagged. I told her that wasn't going to work because I had surgery and had a restriction on how much I could lift. She stood there and watched while I rebagged my things. Another time, she took my pack of gum and threw it, trying to hit one of my grocery bags. The gum missed the bag and landed on the floor. All she had to say was "Oops, I guess I suck at my job ". Today I went in to the same store and she was there. I bought a small bag of chips, three pieces of candy and a heavier item. She threw the candy in the bag, followed by the chips, which were also thrown in, and the heaviest item was tossed on top. I never complain, and it would take a lot to cause me to, but if she is still there next time, I will walk out. This particular store is so convenient for me, and I've been a customer there since it opened. Please do something about this employee. Everyone else is always so pleasant. She's not...

unwilling to return purchase
I went into the dollar general store on wooster ave., dover, oh 44622 to buy some perfume for my 10 year old niece. I wanted something light due to her age. I was very congested that night and could not smell anything. The salesman kindly sprayed his arm to see if I could smell it. He let another woman smell it and she didn't much like it so I bought it and said I would return before giving it to my niece. Today I took the lid off and smelled the top of the bottle. It stinks badly. I called the store manager and he said he would not take it back because it was "used". That is ridiculous! It was not used. It was spritzed on the salesman 's wrist! You can go into any high end store and spritz estee lauder or lancome on your wrist. I tried to explain it was not used having been sprayed once and the salesman would have told me such as he, unlike his manager, is professional. The manager is very cocky like he runs a fortune 500 co. And encouraged me to complain. Not professional, no knowledge because he would not listen and rude. I am an aba certified paralegal. I wonder how many other customers he has driven away. He encouraged me to complain. I will also complain to your corporate headquarters and the bbb. I will never go in that store again over a $3.00 bottle of body mist that smelled like skunk and his lack of professionalism toward me. That store is dirty and overcrowded. The prices not any less than drug mart. It was just closer. I would encourage you to fire him.

customer surveys
I am entering this complaint because I shop at my preferred Dollar General almost everyday and I find it hard to believe that your company cares at all what I think about my shopping experience. When an employee asks me to do a survey for them I find myself having to say that I would love to do that but your company only cares about hearing from me every 14 days?! That is kind of messed up. It is obvious that you don't honestly care so I don't understand why you keep asking us to take time out of our schedules to do that for you when it doesn't matter. If your company truly appreciated not only mine but also other customers opinions about our shopping experience you would want to hear about each and every one of them. None of us that shop at Dollar General should have to pick and choose which shopping experience we want to answer your questions about because then if something else happens we might not be able to tell you about it because we have to wait 14 days and our receipt expires after 7 days?! I just think that it is insulting. Either you want our opinions or you don't. But just like the surveys I have a feeling that this too is going to go 'in one ear and out the other' as the saying goes.
manager
I just left the dg store in grifton nc 4-2-18 at approx 2:30 pm. The female at the register (no name tag) was talking rudely to staff and telling every customerthat came through register that she would be 'out of here' in 30 days... That dg is killing her... Etc. The younger employees looked stressed in her presence. Not a pleasant environment. If she's that miserable, maybe she can leave today.
staff/management
I was recently a store manager at store#12938 in Orrville, AL. A great store to work in until in January I filed a theft paperwork against a young man that took property from my home..after doing so I began to get harassed at home/work by this young familyfriend and girlfriend.Had to file several police reports with my local sheriff dept. The ppl would come into the store making comments in hopes that I would respond..I never did, but that didn't stop the false complaints and phones to corporate. They made it very clear that they weren't going to stop until I lose my job. Thank God my old DM Shawn was supportive. But the new DM Kourtney St. Patrick wasn't supportive at all..Eventally I was terminated. She stated that she had received several more complaints and that it was a safety issue for customers with me being in the store. I tried to tell my side of the story and got no where. At the time of the meeting one of the young ladies that had been harassing me and came to my home with a group of young men brandishing a gun came in with a birthday basket for another employee . I pointed this person out to Kourtney and Teresa at the time. Teresa stated she wish she would've spoken to her. Of course I was terminated and Kourtney hired this young lady as the new SM. The same person whom came to my home brandishing weapons and throwing rocks, filing false complaints and harassing me in the store.
store manager
This is a long story so bare with me please...My name is Kristie Mitchell and I'm writing today to tell you how unprofessional, disrespectful and rude your so called superior leader/Store manager is Crystal Holloway store number 17940... About a week ago a new hire if dollar general in fountain hill Nina henslee applied for a job at mazzios in which my husband is a manager at well he told her he would hire her not knowing that his boss already hired someone needless to say she didn't he the job.. I do no her we were manager together at McDonald's but anyway..I applied for a job at founthill location . The next day I got a call from crystal to come in and speak with her that same day pertaining to the job... I got there like 40 minutes later we went to the office and she asked me one question that was job related, she said there was a list if questions but she didn't have time for that, she proceeded to tell me problems in the store they stressing her out, how her assistant is old grumpy set in her ways and got demoted from the crossett store, , to she's potty training her child in thinking who does that this is wack do I even want to work for someone like this anyway told me I had the job and she be sending me a hire packet via email... Well 15 minutes later Nina called me and said if dollar general ask about me give them a good word, , I'm like how do you no I got hired today she said i put in app and she just called and asked if I new you, but I don't no you got hired . I said when did you talk to her she said a min ago i said o i got hired little bit ago.I said you no her she said yes we are neighbors and friends and our kids play together so I was like cool didn't think nothing of it...Next morning which was good Friday crystal calls and asks did I get hire packet via email I said no she said go check good in spam and all and call me back so I looked there was nothing I called her back and she said in having problems getting it to go thru she said she called hr and they said it skipped a step she get back with me in 1 hour... Soon as I got off the phone with her nina henslee calls again and said did you get yours I got mine...so I'm thinking I got hired before you but you got your stuff before me not thinking anything of it...i called crystal she told me more some [censor] excuses... needless to say I never received a email or heard back...These [censor]es got together and planned to do me how mazzios did Nina/her friend... That is unacceptable for you to be grown and a leader to act in such a meanful manner ..And it's hard to tell if she even had the correct facts to do me like that and waste my time for childish games...And you couldn't pay me enough to work and now as a customer with your sad excuse of an establishment...Right is right and wrong is wrong... Tackey rotten tooth heffer... All for a so called friend probably didnt even have a real interview or references checked. As i sat back and think about it really was [censor] up and wack and a dam we used to steal from McDonalds I hope she robs yall [censor] blind...kristie Mitchell and u can check just filled my app out March 30
Correction she used to steal not we ...
I will put this on social media as well... And tell everyone I know to...what type of business are you allowing to go on with a store manager like this...
how cluttered the store is
The store is so cluttered that you cant get around, merchandise in boxes everywhere & on weekends when it is busy you absolutely can not get around. Everyone was so happy to have this store come to our area, but it is so cluttered to try to get a buggy around . And times when it is so busy they have 1 cashier . If they cant get everything put away in order like other stores, then they need to hire people for a night shift to have that done so when customers come in they dont have to put up with all that clutter, or get a manager that when it is busy they have 2 cashiers, so a line isnt clear back the isle .Dont get me wrong I love having that store so close but the management needs to take care of this or hire more people
falsely accused of shoplifting
I went in to our local dollar General store today (Wynne ar store #01847) to pick up some supplies for the house like laundry detergent etc, as I was looking down an isle I was approached by whom I'm assuming was the manager or assistant manager, she tells me she needed to talk to me and led me to another isle and said that one of her customers seen me steal a lighter and she was banning me from the store, without showing me any proof. My day was already wrecked then I walk in on this I was humiliated and pissed off and thought it would be best to just walk away then. I have never stolen anything in my life so why a lighter? I am not the only one that has had problems from her. I want an apology.

store condition/employees
I live less than a mile from the local Dollar Store. The store NEVER has anything on their shelves. The employees there always have attitudes with their customers. They are always on their phones while checking people out, they never say anything to you at the check out. (Hi how are you, or did you find everything okay?)The store is ALWAYS a wreck. It seems like the trucks never run for the store because everytime we go, their shelves are always empty. I feel like the employees should do their jobs better. There is no reason why the store should be as messy as it is. Very disappointed with this store. They make the whole corporation look bad.
expired items on shelf
I live one mile from the Dollar General Store at 6905 Mableton Parkway, Mableton, GA 30126 so I frequent the store daily, sometimes twice a day for purchases. I constantly see expired items on their shelves but this time I decided to take a picture yesterday.
Many items that I purchase from there taste funny and do not have a date, such as chips and cookies. Many times, I have to correct the price that rings up and every time I point it out, I'm correct and they have to go back to verify. If I hadn't been watching closely, I would have lost out on alot of my hard earned money. I am sure many unaware customers pay more than the posted prices and just don't pay attention.
The manager appears to be on drugs of some sort. She is always shaking and talking really fast and I heard her tell another customer that she takes her medication as required so maybe she's in rehab. She has on several occasions been rude when it gets close to their closing time. If I get there ten minutes before they close, I am treated like trash on the street.
Please do something about the management of this store, the expired items and the incorrect pricing.
Loyal Customer that's fed up.
manager
This situation happened at the Dollar General on South Main Street in Barre on March 29th. My son Andrew walked to the Dollar General to wait for the city bus. As he approached the bus stop in front of the store and tripped. Well the manager called the Barre Police Department and told them he was intoxicated. When in fact it was proven by the police that my son wasn't intoxicated. If the manager was paying attention to his or her job instead of outside the job, none of this would have happened. This is not the first time this manager has called the cops on my son. If this is not dealt with and it happens again I will be forced to file a lawsuit against your company
truck driver
I am complaint about a Dollar General truck driver that almost ran me and my daughter off the highway today. He did not signal until he was already moving into our lane, we had to slam on the brakes scared my grandson myself and daughter to death. This is not the first time while traveling that this has happened with your company drivers! This occurred 3/29/2018
exchange with digital receipt
I bought a DVD at the new DG in South Boston, VA. When I opened it, it already had a scratch on it. So I took it back to exchange for the exact same thing. I didn't have a paper receipt, but I did have a digital receipt because I had used my digital coupons on that transaction. They ended up not having anymore of that same DVD so I wanted to exchange for a DVD that was $15 more and just pay the difference. The cashier checked with her manager and said that they didn't do exchanges with digital receipts. I thanked her and bought the other DVD anyways. I did some research and read on the DG web site that digital receipts are accepted for returns and exchanges on most items. So I went back to check again. Still, nothing. All I want is something in the place of this damaged DVD that was sold to me. Preferably the exact same movie because my kids were beyond disappointed when they couldn't watch it.
This is in South Boston, VA. not Massachusetts.
manager/store condition.
Store is disorganized, unstocked.Manager appears to be on some form of drugs.People seen coming and going after closing, Usually around midnite.I have stopped going in there because hard to get around stuff in isles, since I'm disabled. And most times, what I go in for isn't on shelf, just empty space. The card chip reader works sometimes, more often not.I will drive 18 miles one way to a different store as will my friends and family. In this small town, that's a lot of lost business for this store.
