employees and messy stores
I live in Greenwood, MS and I use the 2 DG stores in Greenwood, Moorhead, MS and Sunflower, MS. My daughter is a paraplegic and she is in a wheelchair. There are hardly and isles in any of these stores that are accessible to her. They are always blocked with merchandise, carts full of merchandise that needs to be put on shelves, buggies full of merchandise ect. She is unable to get to the things that she needs because of all the junk in the isles. It is hard enough for someone walking to maneuver around this mess but impossible for someone in a wheelchair. Also, there are never enough checkout lines opened and one of the employees was very rude to me when I went in the store in Moorhead on Saturday 9-15-18. I have complained before and nothing has been done but I thought I would give you (DG) another chance to clean up your stores!
You should contact corporate by phone or email about your concerns. I don't believe they monitor this site.
clover valley french vanilla coffee creamer
This product is advertised as dairy free and lactose free, and also says no need for refrigeration. And when reading the back it says contains milk. This was bought for me because I have the alpha-gal allergy which also carries over into dairy. I was excited I found a creamer that may work for me since I love my coffee! Made my cup, poured some creamer into it and it almost immediately formed curdles. I proceeded to read the back and it says in bold letters "Contains milk". Why would something be advertised as dairy free when it clearly is not! I'm glad that creamer curdled that day, I'd it had not I may have drank it and had an anaphylactic reaction! I believe this product should be pulled from the shelves and correctly labeled!
Or learn how to read.
nothing stocked in the store
I came to the $ general store, spartanburg hwy, hendersonville nc sept 18, 2018. I went in with nothing came out with nothing. The shelves were empty. There were isles completely blocked off with yellow tape, due to the isle packed full of boxes of merchandise. Theres never enough cashiers or stock persons. They cant keep employees. The store is dirty and cluttered all the time. You head honchos mite as well, shut her down. Not doing us consumers any good.
Disgusted in hendo, nc
employee
I was in the Trenton, MO store the other day and there was a male employee that was severely lacking in basic hygiene. They smelled HORRIBLE, it seriously made me gag it was so bad. When people work with public there certain standards that should be met in my opinion and regular bathing and clean clothes is pretty important. It made my visit extremely unpleasant!
Of course when a guy works he's going to perspire and not smell his best.
True but he could use some deodorant to help his appearance.
unethical behavior
i was working with a merchandiser and had jobs in dollar stores.Well apparently the manager most likely said "[censored]" and when customers complained she automatically blamed me. so it went from her to corporate and cost me my job. I think it was very childish. store number 7298. a few of the workers even contacted my family and asked them about it before i even knew. so i do think your dm and managers in the livingston parish areas need to be monitored. I worked at that store in 2001 and it was never as horrible as it is now. all the managers talk about each other and talk about other stores. seems to me that something should be done. and hopefully in the future new cameras with voice recording so messes like this can be cleared and the real responsible party will face punishment.
ha that's not going to happen
shoes
We dont have much money. We pay more to go to Dollar General 8315 Browns Bridge Rd. Because we cant get anywhere else. My brother bought me shoes for my 57 birthday while cutting grass these shoes came apart from the damp grass. I took them back and I did not want more shoes. This was this morning about 10:30 eastern. The lady after she found that I wanted other items or money back was asking me if they had those kind as if I were some type of crook. Oh and by all means you cant return them for other things in store. Stupid and for $15.00 this will be the most known problem in this area. I have spent hundreds of dollars at that store only to have them treat me like I was doing something wrong by bringing them back and she even says they have bern worn... Of course that is what he bought them for? I had to take another pair. Not happy about being a loyal customer and they treat me like that.
Take those shoes with your receipt to another dg and ask for refund.
manager problems
I AM RETIRED i use to be a manager and the one thing i know you are to respect your customers, now i spend every bit of 800.00 dollars or more every month at the dollar general on ecorse rd in allen park, but i will no longer shop there . your new manager is rude, disrespectful, she has an attitude problem, she says she don't have time to check on a item for you, the lines are always long, the store i have never seen it so disorganized, messy, I almost fell a couple days ago for the garbage that's lying on the floor, where did you get her from, everyone one i talk to says the same thing I'm complaining about. she needs to go, i have never seen the store that messy to get to something on the shelves you have to move those big metal carts or junk out of the way, she has destroyed the apperance of the store, i have also heard her being mean and yelling at her employees, no one want's to hear her yelling at her employees that way, it makes you feel uncomfortable to be in the store, im done ill go back when you get a differant manager if you do, but until then I will shop some where else.
Contact DG customer service by phone or email with your concerns. I don't think they monitor this page.
cashier
I went to dollar General in East orange 397 Springdale ave and it is a young man name William he told my daughter to put a few items in her pocket and walk out the store and she said William did it a lot of times because he likes her so if this matter is not handle I'm calling the cops on this young man because my daughter don't steal and what kind of business is dollar General running
Sounds like William needs to find another line of work.
cashier
Why I was trying to check out your cashier Diane was at register eating pizza and acted like I bothered her . Not only being rude to me but the others in line behind me . If you don't want my business then that's fine this isn't the first time but will be the last time I'm treated rude by your employee. You have no customer service at that store hire people who will give customer service I can shop at other stores and I won't get treated like that hope you don't loose customers
Diane should've ate her pizza in the break room.
I'm sure Diane would've probably preferred to give the OP a knuckle sandwich instead of a piece of pizza.
the deep hole in the parking lot of store #06679, rootstown, ohio 44272 that was not fixed.
I was driving into the parking lot to purchase a birthday card and grocery items in my 2012 Honda Odyssey. A large hole at the intersection of the store's paved parking lot was filled with water. I hit the hole with my Honda and suffered severe damage to the front end of the van. It ripped the underpinning in 2 pieces and caused a major tear in the front end. The estimate to have it fixed is $968.81. I filed a report after leaving the store when I heard flapping underneath the van. I got out to take a look and could not believe the damage it suffered. I stopped back at the store in the afternoon and filed a complaint. The next day an orange cone was put in place where the hole was/is warning other customers of the potential danger to their car. That afternoon the cone was knocked over because someone hit it again.
You should've saw the hole and avoided it.
manager
Went to return and item at the Columbus Nebraska dollar general. I had taken the bottom part of my survey receipt off. The manager Deb was very rude and would not let me return my items due to the survey part missing when I had the top copy of the receipt left. Which should be the only part needed to return and item that is clearly on my receipt and you can still acsess the barcode!
There must be another reason why that manager didn't take back your return. That receipt looks legit to me.
store hazard and mess
Although I'm greatful for having the convenience of a Dollor General closer than a Walmart. It doesn't do me any good if I can't shop there, the store is always a mess from stocking. The aisle are always blocked or products scattered in the floor. A serious fall hazard. It has not been a a once in a while thing it is every visit. Which usually for my family once a week.
I don't understand why when stores get their truck they park the freight on the sales floor instead of the receiving room unless the receiving room is too small to store all the freight in.
Could it be?
These photos? Are they upside down or what? Can't understand them.
poor customer service, threats, accusations of theft, discrimination, refused to refund items
Today my five children and I were shopping at dollar general on Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, OH as usual. As we were walking out one of your employees who is African-American accused One of my children of stealing Once my child pointed out the toy they accused her of stealing sitting right on the counter I immediately requested a refund for my purchase. I Refuse to spend my money places where employees makes accusations of my children of stealing. I Was then Refused a refund and told to leave the store. The police was called on my children and I ;and the cop who responded ordered us to leave the premises without the satisfaction of a refund. I was told I wasn't getting "[censored] back" from two dollar general employees. I currently have conjunctivitis so my eye is swollen the African American employee told me leave before she "[censored]s up" my other eye the duty manager allowed the situation to happen and also told me I wasn't getting a refund. I would like for the cameras to be pulled to show that my children did not steal anything and that your employees made threats to me while In your store this Saturday afternoon. My children were humiliated and taunted by your employees. We were discriminated against because we are a large family. I was threatened to get my eye " [censored]ed up". I was treated unjustly by your employees and green township police. I was refused a refund for my items. I have always been a loyal customer to Dollar General and we are greatly hurting from this situation. My child is suffering from humiliation hours after this traumatic experience that occurred in your store. My child keeps repeating " mom I didn't steal" when I am already certain that my children are not Thieves ! This situation needs to be addressed immediately. The woman should be terminated for her actions.
You should've had better control of your children. JS.
There is no point in getting a refund for items already purchased. If you receive unfair treatment at DG, simply shop at a different store. If enough people vote with their feet, they will get the message. But above all, don't escalate the problem by exhibiting hyper sensitivity and making unreasonable demands.
products needed for employees to provide better service
At store 10533 in St Augustine Florida, I have been going there since it opened and for the last three weeks the store has been out of bags and they are having to go to other stores (Kangaroo, Circle K, etc...) or bring bags from home with other company names on them just to bag the groceries customers buy. The employees states that they have asked for bags but are being to (so they say) that corporate is not providing bags.
I enjoy your store but your employees are unhappy with management support and it shows
To me a bag is a bag whether it says dollar general on it or circle k on it. They all carry the same way.
One simple way to solve the problem is to do as we do when shopping at Aldi stores. Place one or two clothes baskets in the truck or back seat of your car. Transfer your items from shopping cart to clothes basket and skip the plastic bags. Once home, carrying groceries from car to house with items in baskets as opposed to individual bags is much easier. Then, you don't have a bunch of plastic bags to save and recycle. The next time you go to your car, return the empty clothes baskets for the next use.
customer service
I went into store to purchase sale items but none on shelf. Asked the clerk if any more were available. She said it was the last day of the sale and even though the product was in the store room she didn't know where to find it. I work during the week and can only shop on the weekend. I found the clerks attitude very rude and not customer friendly. I will not be shopping at Dollar General in the future.
You are doing the right thing. If enough people vote with their feet, they will get the message. As I see it, DG is always under staffed to maximize profit. If they had the right number of employees, stock would be put up in a timely fashion and made available to customers. Often, DG employees are rude and uneducated due to low pay, poor training, and high turnover.

employee customer service relations
I just left Dollar General on Scenic Hwy, Babson Park Florida. At 9:56 I tried to come into the store & Kim had the door locked & told me she couldn't let me into the store. I showed her the time on my cell & she said "what do you want to buy?". I told her an item and she was incredibly unprofessional even asking me that question. She reluctantly unlocked the door & bumped her elbow into me as I grabbed a mini basket. She said "you have one minute" as if I were her dog being ordered to use the bathroom. As I was checking out (at 10:05), she turned the lobby lights off & stood by the door with them wide open ordering me to hurry up & go. I found her behavior extremely unprofessional, disrespectful and ridiculous. If she doesn't enjoy working with people, she should consider a career change. I felt extremely disrespected & will not shop there if she is working. I worked in several areas of customer service for over 20 years and have never seen an employee so blatantly disrespectful. She gives Dollar General a bad look and reputation in this small community of Babson Park, FL.
Go earlier next time.
store complaint
I really enjoyed going into rittman, Ohio dollar General. But, since the mgr. derrick left. It's dirty, inside & out.
The mgr. there now looks like she just came off the street, not approachable at all.
My parents hardly go there at all now. they go to family dollar ..yuck.
But, I've heard the same from other's thru town say the same.
Inside has Empty, spotty shelves, trash on floor. The outside looks trashy as well.
Please, do something about this.
Good employees have left after Derrick left.
Also, as a customer listening to employees talk about customers & another employee isn't very professional. And I've worked on retail.
Thank you for listening,
Polly Puckett
Make a list of all store defects and shortcomings. Then send an e-mail to Dollar General Customer Service. They have so many stores that unless you complain via e-mail, they won't know there is a problem. So, be vocal.
There's a new store manager AND all of the good employees left. You expect this store to be perfect?
boxes everywhere that have not been unloaded!
The store I am complaining about is Dollar General #10701 on Richardson Landing Road Drummonds, TN. [protected]. I am very displeased about this store. There are isles that have stuff everywhere. There is a massive amount of stuff that has not even been unloaded. This store was very neat while the black manager was there but since he left about two months ago it has gone to pot. Please check into this asap.
shavers
Rude employee who is supposedly in management is far by worse than any I have ever seen. She is supposed to set an example for her team and she is showing them how NOT to treat paying customers.
Asking her to change price due to a coupon took her away from her work. She was extremely rude. She told me she could not over ride it because it was a manufactures coupon. Which by the way was right next to product on the self. She then told me again more rude. Ma'am your not listening I told you I cant over ride it. I spend alot of money in your stores. To have someone be so rude. I will no longer be going to that store. I would hope a company like yours would not Allow a manager to be so rude to your paying costumer. Thank you for your time

I really don't understand why customers go into dollar general with an entitled attitude, these people working there are trying to do a job while being under staffed and over worked, oh and lets not forget underpaid. If you were as grateful to have the store as you say you are you would be nicer to the staff and more understanding of the working conditions these people have to endure.
Exactly.
So she explained to you that there was nothing she could do, but you kept insisting anyway. She's the rude one?
