Goodwill Industries stolen item from me

My two daughters came over to do a really sweet thing for me, knowing I had been talking about cleaning out my storage they came and cleaned out the entire thing.
Afterward, they returned to tell me and this is right after they went to the Goodwill and the donated a lot of very expensive items, which I let go of, and got over, except one glass vase with gold inlay, this was just too precious and worth too much to justify leaving there. I called the Good Will the next morning (Mon morning) as it was already closed that Sun night.
I let them know the situation and how it was accidentally left there etc. and this person was not helpful (being nice) and said he could not take it off the floor after it already been put out for sale, and I told him that I doubted it was out on the floor yet, no one had been working long enough to have put all my items up for sale? I explained further to him that it is a very expensive vase, and that it was not for sale, he said he did not care, he was busy and couldn't help me.
I then called the corporate office in New York and told someone there the situation, she called over to Jason and he then found the time, located my vase and assured me that it was off the floor and he put a note on it that read it was not for sale, the customer would pick it up at the end of the week. I let him know that I lived over an hour from there, and how my cousins were there from Canada, my mom was recovering from surgery, and my closest friend had suddenly passed away all in the same 10
days, I asked if it would be ok
to pick it up closer to the end of the week, he said ok.
He had already taken it off the floor, put a note on it and said it was mine, it was not for sale etc., so it will be fine.
However, when I went to pick it up three days later, they had sold my vase?

You may be asking yourself why did I wait three days to pick it up if it was so valuable, I am beating myself up for that believe me. I just somehow trusted the Good Will, I mean, it's the Good Will. I've donated for years, they are good people. Well, so I hoped.

I spoke to the manager, she said they have a policy that if it's in the back for more than three days, they have to put it back on the floor and sell it.
I was barely able to speak to her through my tears (part from my week and part from what she was saying) I asked, even if it doesn't belong to you? She said I had donated it. I had not donated it at all.
She apologized and said there was nothing she could do and hung up on me. When I called back she hung up before she had heard my voice, and I was so upset and called back until someone answered named Chris and said he was at the warehouse, and wouldn't even give me the name of anyone to call and finally he hung up too? They all knew it was not for sale that it belonged to me and unfortunately they also now knew the value of the item, and yet they sold it anyway? I am going, to be honest, I was very upset at this point and I would have probably hung up on me too, but I lost it at this point I was so frustrated and upset.
I am not going to pretend that I was this gracious person once they hung up on me 10
times.
I found the CEO for the East Bay on Linkedin, he had reassured me that they would help me, that they would either find my item or they would reimburse me for it.
The value is significant but I wanted it back, imagining just how long we had it and it's worth? this could pay for my future grandchild's education someday!?
I wanted to know what they sold it for, and allow me the opportunity to get it back, and that CEO was not the right person for the area that store was located, but he said he would reach out to that CEO and they would get back to me.
I just now returned the call to the CEO just called me and I am yesterday I called her back today and she said that there was nothing she could do she would talk to your staff and that was it?
I spoke to a CEO that is from a different area and he actually was the one who called over to this other area and said that they would be a good contact me this week in which they did, and he said they would either compensate me for that though what the vase was worth or they would try their hardest to to to locate it, when I mentioned this to this other this person Monica she said no that's the that's some other area that is not our area and there's nothing we can do?
so I am asking all of you to tell me what I should do or if I can do anything? Should I let it go should I pursue this and how? But my heart is broken and I feel so betrayed that they actually sold something that didn't belong to them and I'm also very concerned that the employees knowing what it was worth didn't actually say that they may have taken it themselves I mean I don't know what to think at this point?
I spoke toYou
For those who just want the bottom line:

Goodwill Industries return/ credit goodwill card not given correctly

I returned a broken shower head on 9/10/18 $16.55 total. It was put on a goodwill card I provided out of my wallet with 0 balance. Cashier handed me my receipt and i had to remind her to give me the card. She picked up a card laying on register and i went shopping. When ready to pay for new items the card i had had 0 balance. After proving by serial numbers that wasnt card issued i explained she grabbed wrong card then and to look on cameras. They said they did and that they see she handed me a card so therefore they cant help me. I asked to look at video and they refused. I know im right and it has to show her giving me a different card than one return was issued on. I shop there so much and was humiliated that this is happening. If someone watches the tape all the way from begging of transaction to end you will see im right. I wont let this go because I'm 100% positive she didnt give me right card. I can prove it very easily with that tape. Goodwill Lynnwood 9/10/18. Trans#[protected] time 5:18 pm reg #2. Cashier says Mathew but it was a woman cashier named JAE who did transaction because she commented on shes the one who did original transaction with shower head .

Goodwill Industries cashier charging higher prices

I went to the Visalia CA goodwill store. Outside was a sign saying all pink tagged clothes were. 99. I found two pairs of jeans and took them to the cashier. She looks at them and says I will need to pay full price of 5.99 each. I ask why and she says that if the little plastic piece that holds the tag on can fit through a hole on the tag, its full price. WHAT? First of all the tags were pink and I should of been charged the. 99 a piece price. Secondly every plastic piece fits through the Hoke on the tag. That's how it is connected to the clothes. Third, there are no signs anywhere in the store stating that full price will be charged for any reason on sale priced items. I feel like she was accusing me if switching tags by her attitude. I did not do this and I imagine as people try clothes on, the tags become a bit worn. This is an unfair business practice and it needs to be corrected. I had to pay 10 dollars more for two items that were. 99 cents because this young cashier didn't like the look of the price tag. Are you kidding me? I hope something is done about this. I'm very upset. I shop at thrift stores because I can't afford to get new clothes. I'm on disability and need every penny I get. I needed these pants and 12 bucks may not sound like much to your cashier but its alot to me and it means that's ten dollars I wont have for food now.

Goodwill Industries horrible customer service

After an employee told me I could have 24 hours to return an item and receive store credit, this was found to be untrue. I went out of my way to return an iron which I did not need, rather I needed the board, honest mistake. But because an employee told me I had 24 hours to return the item I thought I could do just that. However even after making donations to Goodwill over the years and spending hundreds of dollars, they were unwilling to do that even exchange for the iron and the board. Clearly Goodwill does not stay true to their word. Even after explaining that I was just in here the previous day and had spent money and donated two bags of clothes I did not even want a refund all I wanted was an even exchange for the six dollar purchase I had made. I will no longer be shopping with Goodwill they lost a lifelong member.

Goodwill Industries goodwill of the greater east bay, oakland - dishonest/offensive employee

We had a very bad experience with Goodwill on 7/22/18 while trying to donate some valuable items to them. We first went to a drop off center in El Cerrito, Ca. and were told they didn't accept large items. They said we needed to go to their Oakland facility on 30th Ave., a 30 min. drive away. When we arrived, an employee greeted us by saying he couldn't take any more donations and asked us to pull forward away from where other employees were sorting things. When he came up to the window of our truck, we told him another Goodwill center had sent us there because they took furniture. He said they normally would, but weren't accepting any more that day. However, he'd let us unload if we offered him a tip. At that point, I remembered our son had a similar experience at that facility when he was trying to get rid of a mattress. When we started to leave rather than go along with his scam, he called us back and said he would take our junk anyway. We were donating a large wooden bookcase in very good shape, a number of picture frame kits with mats, glass and frames, four of which were brand new and still in boxes, a nearly new paper shredder, a new camera bag and other items that would be easy to resell, so we found it offensive that he referred to our things as "junk". Because of this experience, we will probably never donate to Goodwill again.

Goodwill Industries management

An upper by the name of Amber tried to send home a coworker for him trying to do his job, she thought he was goofing off when he was trying to ask people what he should do next. She then told him if he has a problem with her he can leave and go home, thats unprofessional and should be illegal. She also said the same thing to another coworker several days ago and thinks just because she isnt watching someone work then theyre slacking off.

Goodwill Industries not honoring seniors

Hello, I am very angry because I went to one of your centers in Wilmington, Ca and asked for the senior discount and the cashier pulled out her paper that said that you must be born before 1949/1950 in order to qualify . I said I'm 65 she said it doesn't matter we don't recognize it.
I say you are full of it... you claim to hire people with disabilities and yet you discriminate against the elderly who are the ones on a budget and are your clients.
Please I would like for you to consider your policy and give people starting at 55 the privilege of getting a discount.

On July 15 Sunday was Blue week in Loganville GA at Good will, I stopped by after church services just to look. I love to go on Tuesday for senior citizen day. I have been trying to get the full series of Danielle Steel Books for my 13 year old grand daughter, she loves to read. A worker at Good Will was taking all the books that had a blue strip to the back of store so no discount on any of those books. So where you would get the adult books for $2.00 on blue day, the following Sunday all those books are back on the shelves the following week. So my question is Why do you have a color week and you have your employees to pull every thing off the shelves in all departments. These items are donated to you. You are suppose to be helping people get jobs and rip the shoppers off by removing items of the color of the week. So maybe we the customers should donate to other places if this is the case. Its like you are stealing from the customers. If we start donating to other places will you still be able to put people to work will the CEO still live in a mansion? Its sad that you do the customers this way. Robbie Brand

Goodwill Industries to whom it concerns...

Hi my name is Sabrina Reef I am a mother of two children and as a single mother of two it is a blessing to be able to shop at affordable prices for my children. As of now I am no longer able to step foot on the premises due to no reason even given.. I am in despair and have been in shock for this in the last year and a half. The situation as I understand was a female co worker that use to be married to my boyfriend, jealousy issues is a reason to make me and my children go without.. Isn't there a time and place for the way we hold are selves as a adult.. Now to my acknowledgment this person name of Crystal Stough no longer even works at this location. I am just asking if I can be off restrictions and able to appear as a normal person and not looked upon for anything that is not of my control . I was completely respectful and it would be easier in this small town to shop at the goodwill industries of Fort Morgan Colorado. You can contact me at my email... Thanks for your time, Sabrina Reef

Goodwill Industries the goodwill outlet in saint paul, mn on fairview.

I am not quite sure what is going on there but the manager has chosen to raise prices on things without actually raising them. If he wants them raises he should just raise the price, not mess around with changing the rules, when they are different from other Goodwill outlets, and change them every month.

For example, "electronics" do now not include anything with a battery now, only if it has a cord. So a pocket calculator is not an "electronic", nor is a handheld video game device.

Likewise "glassware" and "dishware" does now not include anything you can cook with. Last time I was there they were trying to make us pay $8 for a cooking pan when the sticker price was 1.99!

I just thought you should know you have a manger at that location that does not have the "goodwill" of his customers in mind, and is constantly playing games to get his numbers up. I am sure he is pulling funny business elseware as well.

The outlet goodwill in St Paul !
What is the matter with the staff here! They are all so very rude! I do not think any of them believe or know what good customer service is! Training? Highly doubt it they act like they hate customers! What is the actually policy on the number of carts a customer can have in the store? They tell customers 1 cart! Do they know what Goodwills mission is at all? They act as though they do not! Do you people want my and many other customers money for your cause or not? You all make it very difficult to patronize your store. It is almost as if they are going against the mission by stating rudely may I add " ONE CART PER CUSTOMER"! Are you serious! You obviously do not care about your customers or the mission of the company you work for. Does your corporate know how much you go against the mission on a daily basis. I think it is time they found ouT! If i owned Goodwill or was a Board of Directors you all would be FIRED!

THis is in regards to the outlet store in St Paul, MN. The management is always pricing items now as they come in regular prices. They pull out purses decor dolls just everything they can and price it regular retail prices! Pretty soon it won't even be an outlet any longer it will be just a regular thrift store. People go there to shop for great deals. You will make more money leaving the items as is instead of overpricing the items. The overpriced items will just sit there! Make up your mind is it an outlet or is it a regular good will? Some consistency would be nice for your customers. Oh ya they don't really like customers there! They are rude confrontational and just not professional at all!

Goodwill Industries Unprofessional behavior

Re: Store address 890 Chetco Ave Brookings Oregon 97415
On January 5th I shopped at me local goodwill store as I do every week. I brought a folding lounge chair up to the register to verify a price. The nice cashier agreed to put it out of the way so I could continue to shop as it was too tall for the cart and being only 5 ft tall I could not see over the top and obscured my vision.
I went to continue my shopping and within 5 minutes a cashier named Mandy Hanley came up to me and told me I had to move the item as it was a trip hazard. As this item was completely out of anyone's way I questioned the reasoning. She became very rude and gave me two options. I could buy the item and remove it from the store and then continue shopping, or I could put it in the cart and try to maneuver without running into anyone or anything because of poor visibility. I asked her if I could put a sold sign on it so that I wouldn't have to go in and out of the store and make two separate transactions. She refused and wouldn't even discuss any options(glad I didn't buy a couch).
This was so ridiculous so I asked to speak to the manager Sunny Martinez. I explained the situation to him and he immediately agreed with me and said there would be no problem carrying a tag to show it sold. She gave him quite the look and he immediately changed and said "we cant do that". I was baffled. There were trip hazards all over the store. They wanted to to go around the store with poor visibility which is a worse hazard. I pointed this out and I was told to leave the store. I was pretty worked up by then. The whole situation was so unnecessary and the inability of this employee to even try to resolve the issue was astounding. I have never had treatment like this and I have shopped and donated to goodwill for 40 years.
I retrieved my camera at this time to take photos and the manger Sunny Martinez immediately got on the phone to call the police I assume. I was repeatedly asked to leave the store.
I am probably banned from my favorite shopping store because I pointed out something that should have been common sense in any customer service transaction. I have included a few photos of the trip hazards that were in the store at that time and a photo of the counter area where the folding chair was leaned up against(after she put it back and told me leave). The register was closed and there was more than enough room to have this item sit for ten minutes. There are many disabled people who shop in these stores and struggle with large items in the carts. Most rows are not wide enough for two carts to pass.
I would hope that some customer service training would be available to these employees in the future. I would also hope that because of this experience I won't be banned from an organization that I have supported for decades.

Sincerely
Brigid Fallgren

Goodwill Industries workforce development lakisha jordan/ rapid re-housing christian armor

My family was in Rapid Re-Housing in Winston-Salem N.C. We was at the Salvation Army Center of Hope. Christian Armor was my case manager. I got a place at SECU Commons. Christian ended my assistance. I have found through a Justice Department statement that I was only being talked about in conversation between Christian and my landlord. Resulting into my family having a money judgement put against me and being evicted. We are homeless again. No room at shelters in Winston-Salem so we had to drive to Davie County just to seek shelter. I'm feeling overwhelmed that my family has become victim to this system that was intended for homeless prevention. My children or anyone esle children deserve this.

All conversation are documented through Department of Justice. SECU Commons Workforce Development Lakisha Jordan and Rapid Re-Housing Christian Armor in Winston-Salem N.C.

Goodwill Industries the cashier

My daughter and I were at the Goodwill on Nationway in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We went to purchase our items, which were mostly kids clothes for my granddaughter. The cashier was very unfriendly, not even a smile, no greeting, just an annoyed face. We paid for our items, and on the way out, looked at the receipt. The cashier had charged us for adult clothes and shoes. We went back, and showed him the receipt and told him they were children's clothes. The man gave us an angry sigh and said, "Let me see them." So, we pulled out all of the clothes and showed him. He told us that we needed to tell him what kind of clothes they were, and that it was our fault that he charged us the incorrect amount. He also said that when two women come in shopping, he assumes they'll buy women's clothes and shoes, even though these clothes and shoes would clearly never fit a full grown woman. So, does that mean I can't come in to buy my son clothes? I can't come in to buy my granddaughter clothes? First, how in the heck are WE supposed to know that we're supposed to tell him what kind of clothes they are. Isn't that his job? There was no sign stating we needed to tell him this. He was clearly annoyed, and made sure we knew it. He was unprofessional, cranky and obviously did not like his job. He also tried to tell us we paid in cash, which we did not, we paid with a debit card, and refused to give us our receipt after he gave us a refund (which I have no idea if the amount given back was correct or not). The proper way to handle this situation would have been to say, "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know those were children's clothes. Let's get this taken care of." NOT blame the customer for not doing HIS job. If Goodwill is going to hire unprofessional and angry people to deal with the public, especially as a cashier, we will never be back to this store. I have never been treated so poorly in my life and I have been coming to this Goodwill for over 26 years now! Well, not anymore.
