I ordered and paid for some pretty expensive Gym Supplements that I required urgently from Takealot.
They indicated that the items would be delivered on the Saturday - about a week later.
I made special arrangements with my mum and helper to receive the items, since I knew I would be away for the day.
On arrival back home, I noticed that only one item was delivered! I logged 5 or 6 queries, with no “real” response so far (just some generic/AI response).
Takealot guarantee on their website that queries will be resolved within 48hrs - but this is not the case. Their customer service is absolutely terrible/non-existent (no phone numbers - just some robotic help centre email contacts…which take ages to respond).
I logged another complaint on HelloPeter, where I noticed 17000+ (yes : seventeen thousand+) similar complaints from ‘unhappy/cheated’ consumers! This is disgusting! Takealot has one of the worst customer-service/trust-index scores on the entire Hellopeter site! They don’t ever respond to customer queries on the website!
I have now decided to log a complaint with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman of South Africa, in terms of my rights under the Consumer Protection Act). I suggest that all South African complainants do the same. The contact details are as follows:

My advice to Takealot SA : 1) Hire more competent/trust-worthy people (Especially on the delivery side). The current ‘outsourced’ delivery staff do not have a clue about customer service (some seem to be running a ‘racket’). 2) read through the Hellopeter complaints - there seems to be a theft syndicate operating in the Supply Chain
