manager
Look I have worked for Dollar General for 1p months now and my employer scheduled me and I did my job like I was supposed to I got too hot and really passed out and he told me recently that he had to close the store by himself but that's because I nearly got got dehydrated and passed out and the second problem I'm having is one day he said I didn't call out but I did call out and my kid was sick and then the next week he didn't put me on schedule and then then this week he said he was going to call me but he hasn't put me on schedule and it's making me feel like I have to quit like he's trying to force me out what do I do
service
On 7/3/18 I picked up 2 items in the Lawn and Garden area. There was a sign that said 50% off. Half off did not ring up at the register. Courtney the terrible Manager would not give me half off of 4.50. I am very upset. The customer service was awful. The item was a metal sign that goes out in the yard. She should have gave me the discount. I am a loyal customer. She should not be a manager.
learn to accept no lol. it probably was put in the wrong spot by a customer.
I can start a GoFundMe account to get you $2.25 if you want. It will be ok. You'll live.
employees not knowing what every employee is supposed to know.
I took in my temporary card in to reload it to pay a bill online. Online it say every dollar general. So first I handed them the card and they handed it back and said sorry we can't reload them. They didn't even try. Finally after 5 mins they scanned the card and said yep told you we can't load them here. Online it says management know how to do it. Yep they didn't know how to. So can I ask why does it say that you can load your greendot cards at register and then let people go and embarrass them selfs. Cuz the dollar general in Tonto basin az sucks and it was the worse customer service I have ever seen in my life.
they’re not supposed to scan the card. but why even use a green dot card anyways? lol
manager
The manager at the store in Ness City, Kansas is in my opinion "Not manager material" she is rude, hateful and absolutely nasty to the employees under her there. I have been in there many times and heard her unnecessary outbursts, however, this time she did it over the phone because she is out with an injury or something. The poor employee was trying to check people out and she was literally in tears because this manager (Amanda) was ripping her a new one over the phone. This small town needs and appreciates having this store in our small community but we don't need a person like her running it. There are good people working there now, and it's cleaner than it has been in years! Maybe it's better off with Amanda not being there...food for thought
condition of store
This store has become a pig sty! When I ask a cashier about the filtheness, she said Devon (manager) doesn't put clean as top priority!
Just check out the condition of the floors! Look around the bagging area. This place is a mouse haven!
Organization of the stock and shelves are a joke!
I hate to be a complainer but this is a store in my town and I feel someone needs to take notice and restore it back to a place where one can shop with pride.
I refuse to go there anymore!
I always loved going in because I could get very good bargains on so many things! I also loved getting my greeting cards at such a bargain! I would go there and get my creamer and milk because it was always so cold!
customer service
On 6-29-2018 I had occasion to visit the Dollar General Store #10317. I am 70 and had my 2 and 3 year old grandsons with me. I put them in a cart and began pushing, noticing a front wheel was frozen in place. So I tried pulling the cart. The clerks were stocking aisles, and understandable their carts were blocking some aisles. As I got to the back cross aisle, i realized the cart was not manageable as I could not even turn the corner and navigate around the stock cart. I saw a yellow buggy down the aisle and was elated. I removed my grandsons from the cart, and the two items I had already picked up, and we advanced towards the empty yellow cart. A clerk with purple hair had already seen me trying to navigate the old cart. As we approached the empty cart, she came around, grabbed the cart, and said this is my cart! I told her the other cart was not operable. She said, well go get another one!
We did not. I walked my grandsons to the front, checked out, and left. I am just terribly disappointed in the customer service. I have been in the retail industry for many years, and it was an early lesson to make the customer happy at all times. I have never written a complaint letter, but I do feel Customer Service needs to be addressed at this store. If I ever saw anyone smile there I would be shocked.
Have a good day and thank you for reading my rant.
The least they could've done was swapped carts with you.
agreed. but that’s more of a personal complaint. not a DG complaint.
service
I came into the southport, Florida store with my husband to by a few things, he also bought a six pack. But as we were checking out she asked for my ID which I was not the paying. I am over 21 and she made a big deal and held the line up. Her name was Brittany and she was rude about the whole situation. I mean what would happen if I had my 15 year old son with me? Would she ask for his ID too along with refusing to let us buy the beer?
Resolved. Thanks
Whoever carried the 6 pack to the register is responsible for showing ID. No ID, no beer. No exceptions. Company policy. They can't use somebody else's ID either, the employee would get fined or possibly fired.
He carried it to the counter, and I put the soda on the counter. She did not ask for his ID instead she stated she needed mine, and held the line up for me to run to the car to grab mine. She was rude to my husband while I was grabbing it. And used my date of birth instead of his.
liar. stop complaining because you’re not civilized enough to carry an ID. YOU were the ones that held up the line. not the cashier.
customer service
While shopping there today, someone in the other isle opposite of me put something back on the top shelf which then pushed a glass bottle of Alfredo sauce down crashing at my feet. Glass and sauce everywhere! Thank God I had tissue and bandaids in my purse. Once I told the guy at the register he said he will have to get to it when he gets time as he is the only one working. I asked why one employee, he said he is not in charge of the schedule. Who in the world would schedule 1 employee on a Sunday afternoon? Crazy... NEVER once asked if I was ok! Mind you, I am on blood thinners which even though it wasn't a deep cut to require stitches it was bad enough. Thanks for nothing Dollar General!
grow up please. thank you.
Somebody either called in, short-staffed or don't have the payroll for additional coverage. Customers at register are more of a priority than cleaning something up.
condition of the buckeye, arizona store
Re: 602 e. Monroe ave., buckeye, az 85326
I shopped at this store for the first time yesterday, 6/30/18 at approx. 5:30pm. I was literaly amazed at the filthy condition of this store!
The floors throughout the entire store are very dirty, the back door leading to the stock room very dirty, a large dirty dust mop with a pile of debris was leaned against the stock room door, the merchandise aisles are narrow and messy with the products strewn on the shelves in total disarray, the food refrigerators in dire need of sanitizing, which made me wonder about the store's compliance with the health department regulations.
During my "shopping experience", I saw a total of 2 employees, one of them was attending the register.
With this kind of staffing, it's no wonder the store looks the way it does!
I believe that a representative at the corporate level needs to do an intense inspection of the condition of this store as soon as possible. I have shopped at other locations in az, most of which are keep relatively clean considering the amount of customers in a given day. However, the buckeye store appears to be in a state of chronic neglect.
I am hopeful that this complaint will get to the right person, and be given immediate attention so that corrective measures can be implemented for a better customer shopping experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
rude mgr name lily
Went to store #11865 in Gainesville, Florida on Sunday July 1, 2018 while waiting to check out the cashier register went down she had to reboot it which was understandable a line grew and the mgr that was there didn't even care about opening up another register but she ended up coming up front instead of taking the next customer in line she help someone who was last in line by this time the cashier that was helping me had to go to another register while she waited to scan my items the mgr have a attitude the whole time the customers was begin patience so when the lady who is next in the line goes to her line she tell the lady she got to get back in line which was so wrong caused she was next so I said the lady was next in line she wanna go back and forth with me like she is right then she call the police I guess and ask me to leave but I ask for corporate number and she wouldn't give it to me at all after bout five minutes she walk out the office and give me a number that's not working this is uncalled for and something need to be done about not the first time I have witness her begin rude to customers
First come first serve. It's not the manager's fault that the person at the back of the line got to the 2nd register first.
there’s is so much that you do not understand. and btw. corporate ain’t gonna do a thing lmfao.
customer service
I went into the Carolina Beach Dollar General store #1136 on June 30, 2018, shopped as normal and went to check out around 9:45 Pm. I went to register 3 and had the Assistant Manager as indicated by her name tag named Amanda. At which time I had noticed that she had been on the phone for an extended period of time, on what I feel like was an obviously personal phone call. She was already on the phone when I had came into the store and was on the phone while having multiple customers in line. I feel like this is not how a manager should behave and should be focusing more on giving the outstanding customer service that I have recieved at other Dollar General Stores. Thank you.
like another user said before. how would you know if it was a personal call unless you were listening to the conversation which is rude by itself. it could’ve been an important phone call from her boss. you don’t know! stop making assumptions.
I couldn't agree more.
employee names nick
I was in store number 12915 on June 30th and checked out with employee Nick at 20:54 . He got mad bc i asked him to bag some items that he just left on the belt . He called me a [censored], skank am much more in front of my 5 yr old son. I am 8 months preg also. Store manager allowed this and wouldn't give me the DG complaint num. if they aren't fired i won't be back to your store. I spend a lot of money . I go multiple times per week and so do many of my family members. He cursed me in front of several other ppl. I have witnesses. Please review the camera and listen to the audio. It is shocking. The manager on duty whose name I don't know, but she is a black female did not intervene and even attempt to control her employee which I'm sure is new bc I've never seen him previously. The manager refused to give me the DG complaint number. She said she didn't remember it. Since she has taken over I've heard so many ppl complain about her rudeness also, but i experienced it first hand. I am pregnant and the employee nick had me so upset over his actions and threats that i went to the hospital bc i felt like i was going into labor! He called me a [censored], and a skank and threatened me in so many ways. Screamed at me then started cursing me in Spanish also ( which i speak fluent) I was honestly shocked. I was so upset. I of course screamed back. Review the camera bc it doesn't lie. He wasn't bagging up all my items and i had to ask him 3 different times to bag my items bc I'm pregnant and have to bring all these things inside my home and that's when he got mad and looked at the manager standing at the door and rolled his eyes and started smarting off. He was even mean to my little 5 year old who asked if he could hold his toy we purchased instead of bagging it. He's obviously miserable to have to work, and taking it out on customers. I spend so much money at this store, and it honestly saddens me that Nick and this manager treated me so disrespectful and rude. I have never in my life been treated like that. If those employees aren't fired I won't return, and I will make sure everyone I know doesn't either. Social media and all. I am in no way attacking you personally bc this isn't your fault, but how the situation is handled is up to your company. I almost went into labor over this. I started having contractions, but thankfully they stopped, and dr sent me home. Please get rid of Nick and the manager who let him curse at me and wouldn't give me a complaint number, or you'll lose lots of money. I alone go to that store 4-5 times a week. Thanks. Respectfully, Rhonda Reed
That would make a good storyline for Days Of Our Lives or General Hospital but it's a stupid complaint on the internet roflol
this is the biggest load of BS I have read. do you really think people are gonna believe this kinda thing..? you probably did something a lot worse than what you said and now your trying to get back at them for your actions. and btw. there is no audio lmfao. you’re clueless. if you think DG is gonna send you a letter praising you for this complaint then you crazy lol
unethical behaviour
I was in the store yesterday afternoon and I saw the manager yell at this certain employee so loud and in front of everybody in her line. She was in tears when i got up to the front of her line for check out. It turns out that the manager did something unethical by not telling the employees that she was the new manager. She told the assistant manager that she wanted to see how good they worked. I asked the employee what happened and she told me that she asked the assistant manager a question and the manager got upset for not asking her the question and got up in her face in front of everybody and screamed at her. I find that very unethical. I heard from most of the other employees and they all told me that they are going to try to transfer to get away from this trash talking manager. Being a manager is about building a team. I don't what she is doing is building, i believe she is tearing the team apart.
the address to the store 105 US highway 117 N [protected])
All new managers are like that unfortunately to make an impression to their DM. Once she gets to know her employees and she has been there for a little while, she'll settle down and be nicer.
run sale add /on product not order from the start
Sale paper came on 23 for sale running the 24th til the 30 the of June. Stopped in everyday. Found they did have them and were not ordered nor did they know about item in paper. It's not the first time this has happened at this store. Seems to be miss managed from start. I will refuse to do any further business with this store or any Dollar General until this problem with management is addressed. Now I have to tell my grand daughters the item I said I would have I won't.
employees
My daughter went in the store in benhams road Bristol Va she was treated like a thief they even made her take her clothes off. I was in there about 2 months ago this lady went in there and I was standing in the line behind her and she was using food stamps the customers and their employees was making fun of her and stuff after she walked out they started saying all kinds of stuff and I asked them why what do she do car and I have not been back
You have to stuff and consider the class of people who work at Dollar General.
jody or jodie (not sure how to spell her name) - manager at store #08960
I went to Dollar General today to pick up some groceries and the manage (Jody or Jodie) started following me around and as I'm looking at the cereal, the manage approachs another employee and says watch her and points to me. She said because I'm in the store at least 5x a week that I must be stealing stuff cause I'm a drug addict. She also started making fun of me and laughing about me with the employee. I am in the store quite often because my methadone clinic is next store and I have severe anxiety issues and do not feel comfortable waiting for my Medicaid cab with all those people around so I go to Dollar General. Also, 95% of the time I buy at one it and others I buy a bunch of items. She singled me out because I go to a methadone clinic. I am treated for chronic pain due to a genetic disorder that I have that cause my joints to dislocate. I have 8 surgeries, 3 on my heart and 3 on my back. I am very ill and in severe pain everyday. After she did this she says that she is going to be proactive to the employee and walks up to me with attitude and smirk on her face and asks me if she can help me find anything. I told her no I'm just grabbing some Frosted Flakes and Apple Jacks. At that time she points out the cereal that is in front of my face and then ask me if she can help me find anything else. I told her no and started to walk away. She wrote down everything that was in my cart at the time and continued to follow me. She singled me out and embarrassed me in front of customers and employees and made me feel terrible. I wanted to cry. She made fun of me and in a loud voice tells everyone I'm a drug addict even though I am being treated for chronic pain. I just spent 6 weeks in the hospital and have had 2 heart surgeries in 6 months. The whole store could hear and I just kept getting looks from all the employees. Do you have any idea how embarrassed I was how that made me feel. I have to go back there tomorrow and pick up the rest of what I need tomorrow but I'm afraid to go back there for fear of being humiliated again. Jody or Jodie is not management material. How could you publicly humiliate someone like that cause you think I'm going to steal. All because I go to a methadone clinic and I come into the store all the time while I wait for my Medicaid cab. I even told the weekday day manager that the reason I am in here all the time is because I'm waiting for my cab and I don't feel comfortable waiting at my clinic and he tolde it was ok. Most of the time I buy several items but sometimes I just walk around looking at what the store carries. Others time the item I'm looking for is not in stock or Dollar General doesn't carry a specific item I'm looking for. I needed cat food and they were out of stock for 2 weeks, same thing happened with the sugar. I feel she at the very least shouldn't be a manager. I'm so upset.
They're probably a high shrink store and they're doing what they have to do to protect their jobs. You say you're not a thief. If you're not, then it shouldn't have bothered you if they were doing their job.
there’s obviously more to this than you’re telling. they don’t do things like this for no reason.
the registers
Please send someone to fix the registers at the dg on Malone! I see the cashiers struggling with the handheld scanners & the registers themselves are glitch. The handheld scanners come unplugged no matter how many times they are plugged back in. One register isn't up and running at all and the other two register are iffy at best. The poor cashiers are trying their best to have smooth & fast transactions but fail to do so because of dollar stores faulty equipment.
Also they need more people on the register & less people in the back stocking products! Three people stocking.. One on the register..
disrespectful manager and associate
I was in the Dollar Store in Paris Texas on Bonham Street on 6/29/2018 and experienced the most disrespectful and rude behavior I have ever seen. I have an an elderly grandmother and when she asked 2 associates where something was she turned and walked away and they both ran around the corner with their heads in their shirts talking about the way she smelled. My grandmother has dogs which are her only companions and yes sometimes the smell is bad but that does not mean you act that way in front of other people especially her granddaughter. This was by far the worse customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life.
service
I was in Memphis, TN on 6/23 and stopped at Dollar General on Third Street. The cashier asked if we were paying cash if so she can check us out at another register(the other cash register was being rebooted 🙄). She scanned my items, and I told the cashier I wanted to use my digital coupon. The young lady stated the keypad/machine was broken and unsure how to apply the coupon. So the manager came to the front and told me he wasn't able to honor my digital coupon because the keypad was broken. I politely told him the broken keypad was not my issue and being a manager he should be able to honor my $5 coupon. He raised his voice and refused to honor my $5 coupon. After that we were still going to pay for a couple of items but the cashier stated the receipt machine wasn't working and she would not be able to give us a receipt. Needless to say we did not make a purchase at this store. My rating is 1-Star because of the poor managerial service and broken equipment.
Dollar General
4712 Third Street
Memphis, TN 38109
wowww you’re honestly such a bee-otch. the broken keypad ain’t they’re problem hun! they can’t do anything about it! grow up and learn some manners and learn how to handle yourself in front of the public!
cry baby.
out of date snack foods
I bought packs of Lance Toasted peanut butter crackers. This was on 6/29/2018. I got home and noticed the expiration date was April 14, 2018. I brought it to the attention of a employee on my return visit and was told that she would let the manager know.
This store is always unstocked and dirty. I have made numerous complaints through the survey but no changes or return correspondence ever.
