abingdon, il store
This is a very small town and we are very lucky to have your store here, but our store is going down hill fast! There shelves are damn near empty most of the time! I shopped yesterday for sale items and was not able to get any of them! There's a new manager there, whom I've never seen smile once and I've heard her talk down to the Employees! I've never worked there or know anyone who does, I'm just making an observation along with many others that live and shop there. Sure hope this can be resolved soon! Thanks for listening!
dollar general retention pond
My complaint with dollar general is that you all put an retention pond right next to houses. And it's not being keep up. Grass high, trash all in it and now snakes or coming in our yard. This month I have killed 3 snakes. Not just any snakes. Water moccasins. And I have little kids around here. I been here for 15 years never seen a snake until they build that dollar general here on bascom Norris and Marion street
expired product on the shelf
Back in may 2017 I noticed expired parm cheese on the shelf I did not have a basket just ran in for 1 or 2 things. I told the cashier ( I don't think she works there anymore she was the nicest one there ) she told the manager who said well did she bring them up here. Well no. So today I stopped back in and for giggles went to look and it is still there how nasty. Expired cheese from 2014 and early 2017 yes I have pictures of it. Now for the fact that the stores seem to always be short staffed and there's always large carts of merchandise to be put up. Your store workers have a lot to deal with customers stock and other things the ones whom work the hardest get paid the least. Increase the employees for cleaner stores
service
I have been shopping at the dollar general for at least the past 9 years. Lately every time I have shopped there there is always I guess one of ur employees outside right at the front door smoking. Then to go into the store to shop there is always these big metal cage like objects all over the store that makes it very hard to shop or even get thru the aisles. Then I get to the front to check out and I have to wait in a line of four or more customers to make my purchase. They never open up another register and it is very annoying knowing that they could if ur employee wasn't outside smoking. I will not be shopping there anymore. I will travel the extra mile or two to go to another store to make my purchases. U should really evaluate ur employees at this store because they do not give ur customers the attention or service they deserve. Also the store is a mess. Looks like they never clean up the store to make it look presentable to the outside. I shop there all times of the days and nights and the store has lately been a mess. U have lost a faithful customer at that store cause I will never shop there again
lack of service and care for the store.
Everytime i go into DG(which is at leat once or twice a week) there is a line of at least 5 people and only 1 checker. The wait is usually 20 minutes or longer. The other staff is no where to be seen or is wandering around the store. Store is always a complete mess with Boxes everywhere. I notice on days that shipments arrive its about 2 days before everything is put away making it difficult or even impossible to travel dow certain aisles because of all the open and unopened crates everywhere. Today i went it for 2 gallons of milk. Thats all i had and i stood in line for 28 minutes with 4 people in front of me and 5 behind me. 1 checker who would NOT stop chatting. Within that time i moved up in line once... after waiting so i long i just put the milk down and left. Its getting to be ridiculous. Everyone in town is having issues there of all kinds from the wait to lack of cleanliness to kids running through the store stealing and the employees look and act if they could care less... something needs to be done about this specific branch or close it down.
After so many negative visits you may want to patronize another store.
clearance item signage is not specific on what is clearance. rude cashier. no manager on site.
Garden and lawn clearance had inappropriate or no signage on what's excluded. Was not being given discount on all items taken from one location under sale sign. Cashier then argued with me and was very rude. When i ask to speak to a manager i was told there was not one on site till the afternoon. After manager was reached on phone, cashier stated he was on his way and then proceeded to ignore me and tend to other customers as i stood in line. I finally asked if she was just hoping i would go away with this behavior. I am still amazed at my treatment at this location while i stand for over 30 minutes waiting for manager to show up.
service
Everytime I enter this Dollar General, I receive horrible service from Bryahna Scott. She is a new worker here. She's always loud, on her phone and unprofessional. Also, she talk about customers that come in. Today, I overheard her talking about time to another co-worker. Also, she told the co-worker that she was not going to check me out so she had her brother stand in front of the register to hold a fake conversation.
the cashier
I went to the store around 12:00 on my lunch break. I was trying to buy two things but pay for them separate so i could get cash back. The cashier still rung both up at once and got mad when I said it was separate. After everything was done she threw my receipt down on the counter while I had my hand out. So I just looked at her and she began ringing up the next person while my stuff was still on the counter.
manager named ray at the summerfield fl 34491 location
I am writing this complaint for multiple reasons. First I'd like to say that the manager there has no business being a manager. As a manager you have the responsibility to set a great example for the employees that are under you and a even bigger responsibility to the customers that shop there. I have shopped at this location many times over a long period of time and will no longer be doing so. The manager there (Ray) has a habit of talking to customers in line negatively about his employees and personal problems. It makes my experience as a customer very dissatisfying. I don't care to hear him slander someone's name because they are not in his click. And to let people in line know personal business of an employee, trashing their name is uncalled for. I find this man disrespectful and don't believe he has what is needed to do customer service. If it had only been one time I could overlook it but that is not the case. Something should be done as I know from other customers that they have experienced and feel the same way.
my name is bryant russell c.o. o. of rich state records
My wife works at Dollar General in China, Tx. Her name is Kimtress Scott she took over this store six months ago a horrible hand down, the store was atleast 2yrs behind a up hill battle which she took in stride. For the last six months she has put in countless hours to get the store right now she has began to see a balance and now being attacked by your company style of bizzness and the stress and unhealthy load Dollar General has placed on her four or five times a week open to close a very unsecure area which is racist not given enough hours to properly run the store taken her personal life totally away and she has a 15 yr old daughter who she has been separated from because of the job she cant be a parent not involved in her childs life period because of long job hours all that matters is the buck the dollar forget life huh? I need to be talked with ive studied the labor laws and Dollar General is using loop holes well but not good enough so many violations from safety, security, racism and so fourth I can go on and on.
coupons/ my email is [protected]@gmail.com
I went to the Dollar General Store, a few minutes ago to use my paper coupons. I clipped them from my Sunday's newspaper. I tried to use them with my digital coupons. The lady had an attitude. She scanned the coupon and said very nasty that the coupon isn't working and that it hadn't been working on anybody else purchases. I ask her why and she was like I don't know why. She's not being honest because I know a few people that have the same coupons and didn't have a problem using them at a different location.
The coupons that I am referring to is the gain detergent. I didn't get her name because her name tag was covered. Please train those people in that store not to be rude to people who use coupons
employee
My 42 year old husband went into the store off hwy 78. The employee was a older white hair and glasses. She asked for id which he provided. Due to my husband suffering a ruptured eye with eye problems he did not realize it expired yesterday. Another customer said you can see he is old enough my husband was speaking to the customer and said this was ridiculous. The employee at that time said "what the [censor] did you say"?!? At that point my husband got me. I came in and made the purchase and informed her I would be there tomorrow to speak to a manager and that she should quit treating people like trash and being prejudice and to get her [censor] off her [censor]ing shoulders. Now that i've got my items anyways. She called to me to come back in?!? She then followed me and continued to be a [censor]. I told her to quit speaking to me I didn't say she could. She has no customer service skills. When i'm in your store, which is about every day she is lazy and doesn't even deserve whatever you are paying her. I noticed a help wanted sign... I can start a second job immediately obviously you need help with getting your store managed correctly.
food/workers
The snacks they sell at the Dollar General in Mission, Tx located at 1700 E Griffin parkway are always expired. Even the baby snacks. I’m so tired of always getting or finding expired food here. On another note the workers are very rude, they are not attentive to customers. Two of the ladies there one named Juanita the other Cindy started locking the restrooms so no one other than the workers could use it. I kindly asked for the key they claimed it was broken yet Cindy went in there and used it. Mind you I was pregnant, Juanita simply said “it doesn’t work you can use the men’s one”. There’s another worker there her name is Vanessa, she fairly new she’s so rude and gives me this weird evil look. Very unprofessional staff. My experiences here at this DG have not been pleasant, I haven’t returned.
I don't see the issue with them offering for you to use the men's restroom. Also they most likely started locking the restrooms to cut down on theft.
wrongful termination
In the almost 2 years that I worked for Dollar General, I submitted 4 UA's for the company. I was hired for management, but worked my way forward. The first time I was to be a keyholder, I was accused of being high at work. I was not fired, I was demoted. I worked very hard to restore my reputation, then had an issue with the GM, Tammy. A customer didn't like Tammy's lack of response to my DG Hello, and voiced it. From that moment on, Tammy believed it was me who had an attitude, and I struggled to keep my job, from then, tail she made my Assistant Manager fire me. The termination was stated- due to a failure to submit. I was late for work, the UA lab was late from lunch, and my Store Manager told me to re-take the UA another time. Tammy issued another UA paper, I went, I passed, then I worked as Lead Keyholder for a few weeks. After hiring several new employees, Tammy went back to the UA and had me fired. Claiming, failure to submit a UA. My record shows that I was terminated, customers I run into on the streets tell me I was fired because I failed a UA, and now I'm struggling to find work. I passed the last UA. Both my Store Manager and Assistant Manager did their best to keep Tammy off my back. I warned Zack, Store Manager that Tammy didn't like me, and he honestly thought I was over reacting. My Assistant Manager quit her job a week later, due to the issues with being forced to fire me and the hostile environment she was left with. I was not fired due to performance, I was fired for my personality. This letter is to inform Dollar General that I am seeking an Attorney to represent me for wrongful termination. The store number is 13220. Zack Campbell is Manager. Maria Gonzales was Assistant Manager. I used to love my job. Before the termination, I had the respect of my fellow employees and customers. Now, I'm struggling to find work. I'm a 52 year old woman and sole support for myself and my husband. I was terminated without explanation and even now, the exaction has not been expressed to me. If I was fired for a UA, then why did she issue another one? I've been told it's company policy, but, is it company policy to be told by your manager too it another day, then, after hires, fire you for the failure?Thank you for your time.
Florida is an at-will employment state, so legally they require no reason whatsoever to terminate you.
employee
I was at the Dollar General Store on Seneca and 31st in Wichita Ks. There was a magazine there with Trumps picture on it. My husband made a comment to me about, That man could cure cancer people still wouldn't like him. Your cashier decided to let us know that if she had the chance she would shoot and take that man out! Then she states that must be very un-American of her, Doesn't matter I stand by my statement. I will no longer be shopping at this dollar store.
She is entitled to her opinion just as you are to yours. Employees are free-thinking individuals with thoughts and feelings, and it's a little surprising that the opinion of one individual is enough to deter your business.
I 100% guarantee you that if he cures cancer, people will like him.
No, I agree, all is entitled to their opinion. I did not call and try to have her fired or blah blah, I did not appreciate her opinion. A better way she could of stated her opinion could of been "Oh, I can't stand that man!" Not "shoot the man". While on the clock your opinion represents the company whom you work for. Talking of killing anyone should deter all to stay away from that individual, there are many dollar stores, I can go around the corner.
I agree with you. Her phrasing was definitely unprofessional.
employment
My husband applied for a job in the Manchester, ia store. He got an interview and never heard back from them. Since they have no male employees here, it makes it a discrimination case. It is only proper to respond to him. He even called the store and the manager didn't call him back. We keep getting emails saying they have jobs available. Could you check into it and see why they don't hire men. He only wanted evenings.
employee is a con man
Employee at 1608 Canal Blvd, Thibodaux, LA is an elitist and a con man. Ask him to do the job that he is paid to do. Stop trying to act like he is an expert on every product the store sells. I don't need his opinion on my decision to buy or not to buy this or that product. In plain and simple English, please keep your business out of my business. Get a life.
I'm assuming there is more than one employee who works at this location. If you choose to complain to the store, you're going to have to provide more details.
customer complaint
the girl is so ugly when you go the store and use coupons .she rang up items the coupons comes off and wont let us use them.it is not just happen today it happens all the time to all people that go in there.i will change and go out of town to dg but not in jarrell. they need to train there people to let us use them and not say no when the coupon works. i shop there all the time.this use to be my favorite store . not any more.
position in n charleston sc
s-information/ I just wanted to tell my story I have been waiting weeks now for someone to call me back from corporate office I was hired on at. Dollar general first I had my interview on the 15th of November I received my higher on package with the store that was applied for in my hiring package the amount that was specified at the interview was not the same amount that I agree to be paid for. I tried calling Brian Hayes the person who interviewed me as it stayed in the hiring package to do . I never received a phone call back back from Brian. did my urine analysis and my background check received a phone call from the manager at the store that I was hired for. when I spoke with her I found out that they did not need me at that store they did not have the hours to give me that was promised me which was 40 hours and the amount of money that was being paid to me they said they could not pay me while I was doing my online training the district manager and the regional manager were there I spoke with the district manager and also the regional manager from this District that I was hired for they assured me that they would make sure that I got my 40 hours I would have to work at one store and travel to other stores when needed I agree to this because I'm a team player and I needed the job and the 40 hours I'm a single woman and I need 40 hours to survive I took a big pay cut to come to this company because I believe that I would move up into a better position for more money quickly that's what I was told during the interview with Brian Hayes . They were making changes and he wanted me to be part of that . since I had given my two weeks notice to my other job went into the specific store that I thought I would be working at to do my online training 3 days into this training I got a phone call from the district manager asking me if I would travel to another store across town I said I did not want to do that if I had been offered that store I would never taken the job since the store I was hired for was just down the street from where I lived . she informed me that they had nothing for me then and I was let go without a job. I called corporate office was sent to different places was told that I would be getting a phone call from someone I've never received a phone call and I just want to let everyone know this is not a company to work for I was excited to work there I've been wanting to work at General Dollar it was in my wheelhouse of what I wanted to do I was hired on as a general manager Brian Hayes thought that I could go in there and do a good job they were making changes and they wanted someone like me in there he was excited about me working there I haven't heard from him or anyone else I am Gravely disappointed in this company that I wasn't treated more fairly just as a fellow human being and a person I deserved at least a phone call from someone telling me what happened or not to worry that they would take care of it something. I feel they played with my life and I don't have any respect for this company for doing that. I left that day with them knowingly that I had no job. And they simply did not care. I know this is a fire higher state but we still have to care about each other. That's why the world is the way it is today people just don't care everyone's out for themselves. Especially these big corporations. I just wanted to let everyone know about Dollar General and how they treat their employees. So if you have to shop somewhere don't shop there. Cuz if they treat their employees that way they probably don't treat there customers any better
online shopping
10/12/17 Tried to place an order online--would not go through--called customer service--their IT department making changes so NO one could place an order--hold it and try tomorrow
10/17/17--tried to place another order--on phone with Dollar General and my credit card company for 2 hours--making sure I was not going to be charges for all the 'place order here' I had clicked on
10/18/17--tried to complete the order already today and still not working
Why not work on your maintenance late at night--not prime time! Cannot shop at the local Dollar General as it is too filthy and employees rude and incompetent.
