This complaint is about Carol, a manager at Dollar General. I purchased a $10 Comfort Zone desk fan Model CZ6DDG about 1 week or 1 1/2 weeks ago. The fan worked great until 2 days ago. Sometimes it would not run at all. Sometimes when turned on it would run on high speed but if turned to low speed it looked as if it was trying to run but would not run unless held upside down. I still had the box, plastic wrapper, the paper instructions that came with the fan but I did not save my receipt which I normally do with any electronics and this is a good example of why I should. I drove to the store on my lunch. Carol and another employee were standing in front of the store smoking. I went into the store and told the employee at the register what my issue was. She said she would have to get the manager. Carol came back into the store after a few minutes. I explained what was wrong with the fan. Rudely she told me all she could do was an exchange which I completely understand. I wasn't asking for my money back. Carol then stood there, looked at me, then looked over at where the fans were and then looked again at me like I was suppose to go get another fan which I couldn't reach anyway because it was on top of a food cooler located at the front of the store. She finally went and got the last one on top of the cooler. Carol repeated again that without the receipt it was an exchange only and that I should have kept my receipt. As soon as she handed me the replacement she went back out front of the store to smoke again. I have witnessed her rude behavior before with other customers and employees. I shop at this store frequently because it is close to my work and convenient. I am not asking for any compensation. I just thought this information should be heard. For this reason I will never shop this store again.
This store is located at 4023 Pine Forest Rd. Cantonment, FL 32533
service
The store manager thought I stole a lot of stuff that was underneath my baby's stroller. I found a lot of stuff by a SCAT bus stop that was by dollar general. I went in the store bought some stuff for my baby and then then she seen this stuff underneath the stroller and she asked if I was going to buy it I tried to explain to her that I found it and she thought I stole it so I gave it back to her.
Likely story.
customer service
I went to your store on 3806 Ocoee Apopka Road, Apopka, FL 32703 for the first time. I walked in on the end of a conversation with another customer and what I thought was the sales clerk turned out to be the manager. The other customer was very upset and continued to be so as she left the store stating "What a rude man". When I walked in the store He did not say anything to me but has an ugly look on his face. I am glad he did not challenge me as I would have told him he has no need to be in this store! I asked a very nice young man who was stocking who this man was and he told me that he was the manager and his name is something like Naseem. Really do you allow these kind of people to be "in charge"? You are going to lose customers and workers if he is allowed to stay in this store. As for me I will never go there again because I know I will lose it on him. Please help the people who live and work at this store to have a positive experience. Thank you for listening.
is it okay to store the roach killer with the cat food?
Is it typical practice to store the insecticides directly next to pet food? When I went to our local Dollar General to get cat food this evening, I noticed the Raid was displayed for sale next to cat food. I personally find this disturbing. I've never been too impressed by the way this store has been arranged, but this takes the cake. I wonder if the manager hates cats...
No. It’s not a mean assumption. Someone should have some common sense and store the poison somewhere else.
The roach killer needs to be stored somewhere else. The manager should have some common sense.
It depends on the store layout where products should be located in each store. Store managers have no say so, its decided by corporate.
verizon phones
I've been to the dollar General several times in the past few months to buy a new phone but for some reason they're not ringing up and so far nobody has done a thing about the problem. I've called to make complaints and still haven't heard back and it's been a full month. Please email me and let me know when the problem is fixed @
[protected]@gmail.com
I am in desperate need of a phone so I can get a job.
You really don't want the ones at dg anyway. They are cheap and dont last.
Couldn't you buy a phone at another retailer?
beer
First off I'm over the legal age of 21 second I'm 42 there is absolutely no law in the US that says I have to show my ID if I'm over the age gerey hair full facial hair balding but yet I still get carded your rule to card everyone is [censored] and extremely annoying if it's such a major issue then stop selling alcohol PERIOD I shouldn't have to do this every single time especially after going into the same damn place for 5 years
If you was 100 years old and still bought beer there, they would still card you. It's the law. If they don't check id, they risk fines and termination and possibly jail time.
I don't understand why it is such a big deal to just show your ID. The company are protecting their backsides and I support this. If you don't like it, go elsewhere. The colour of your hair or lack thereof has no bearing on your age. My cousin lost all of his hair by the time he was 9 due to Alopecia. He looked much older than the rest of us, and easily looked well into his 20s when he was just 16. If the store is going to sell an age restrictive item, they have the right to refuse service without proper ID, regardless of how old you think you look. It takes a couple of extra seconds. If you don't like it, shop elsewhere, but be prepared to show ID wherever you shop for items like alcohol or cigarettes.
Then buy it somewhere else, because it is the rule of the company and it will happen every time. Cashiers are not gonna risk their job for your alcohol
manager of the paden oklahoma store
As of 20 minutes ago I am no longer an employee of dollar general by my own choice. Ever since the current manager Sam took over her position the store has gone to hell. Not only have I not seen her do inventory once since she took over but during her shifts, while the rest of us are busting our butts to get work done, she is outside smoking her vape or chit chatting with her friends. Her attitude is abysmal. So much so that I have had a good few customers refuse to come in to the store while she is working. These customers have also made me aware that they have filed complaints against her and are pissed that nothing is being done. She has a nasty habit of leaving notes threatening write ups if physically impossible tasks are not accomplished in far too short of a time. Considering this is the only store in our small town I know it would be greatly appreciated if something was done about this situation. I really enjoyed working for your company up until she was made manager and I can tell you that she was fired from her previous job at tractor supply for these same reasons. If she tries to ban me from the store because of this you can expect further complaints. Your humble servant. Jason Conklin Jr.
At DG, district managers and higher like managers like that. They might not at tractor supply but at DG they do. You should've stuck it out, eventually she would've quit.
store appearance
Today i was in the store on 3105 black gap road chambersburg pa 17202
The store looked great when they first open but now they have stuff in the aisle and carts from the back full of stuff sitting in the aisles and hard to get down the aisle and they had bag of charcoal rip open the stuff from the bag all over the floor everytime turn around there stuff in the way seems like they brought the stockroom to the floor by all means i love dollar general but i think they need to clean the store up some thanks have a good day
This is VERY common in every Dollar General I've ever been in. I know this corporation is making a lot of money, so they really need to invest in A) Night stockers B) Or a crew who only just stocks, not stock and check out customers. There is way to many boxes of merchandise sitting around in every one of these stores, and when your trying to get something off the shelf, you have to either dodge a box or a worker restocking. It makes no sense to me.These stores are so junked out with boxes and crap. They really could continue to have a good thing going, but people are going to get tired of jumping over boxes and merch to get what we need. Its like a dang circus. I think corporate REALLY needs to dedicate their time into visiting their stores, and stop worrying about how much each store is bringing in. They recently "remodeled" a store close by my house, but left all the junky old tile on the floor and it is honestly just as cramped. Either expand the stores or do a true remodel.
taylorsville, mississippi
Everyday - The store is always nasty & stock is always blocking the isles. I along with others have resolved not to shop there anymore until it is taken care of. The employees are always very personable. It is not fair for the customers or the employees to work in such conditions. This is sad because we were all very excited when we got the DG in our town years ago.
Some stores there are lazy employees and others, which is most of them, there's not enough hours allocated for employees to keep it stocked and recovered.
I am complaining about a grill
We purchased a grill and paid $40 for it at the Palmer Massachusetts tour to take on vacation with us and when we got to our Cottage and opened it up and tried to put it together the legs didn't line up with the holes in the bottom of the grill so it didn't tighten up like it should there were pieces and a handle missing from the cover so we couldn't put it together and ended up throwing it out because it could not be safely used and ruined our vacation I want to know what our options are. We spend a lot of money on a regular basis at the Dollar General and love the employees and I've had no problems with anything before I have the receipt but like I said we don't have the grill it was just garbage
complaining about a girl that we bought at the Palmer Massachusetts store we paid $40 for it to take on vacation when we got to our Cottage and trying to put it together it was poorly made the legs didn't line up with the holes in the bottom there were pieces missing the cover was missing a handle and bolts so we were not able to completely put it together it proved to be a piece of junk and anger my husband threw it in the garbage which was probably a mistake but it ruined our vacation because we weren't able to cookout on the grill I like to know what our options are I still have the receipt we spend a lot of money at Dollar general and I'm very dissatisfied with this product. What can be done
You should've taken the grill back to the store or any other DG and exchanged it for another one or gotten a refund.
store is dirty, isles are blocked, safety hazard, employees wear whatever they want, stand in line for 25 minutes, employees working off the clock.
This Dollar General is deplorable, isles are dirty, rotainers are blocking all isles, boxes all over the floor, employees wear hats and anything else they want, employees work off of the clock, employees leave keys laying around, you have to stand in line for 20+ minutes because employees are never at the register, store stinks, expired items, it's awful.
To me, it looks like you're going around commenting on all of the Dollar General complaints. I have a job, looks like the only job you have is being rude.
Actually I'm recuperating from surgery. I have been in retail for most of my life. Started at the bottom and work my way up. Retail is not as easy as people think and customers whining because workers are not kissing their feet or handing them free everything because they want it, is completely annoying. You can bbn boycott stores or go elsewhere but stores wont close or change because your coupon didn't work. I would like people to realize that the people in the stores don't make the rules, they just have to enforce them and take the guff when people don't grasp it. Somedays are easier than others and of course some people were not meant to work with the public. But the public cant walk in and and throw a temper tantrum because they are not treated like kings and queens they have to take responsibility for their behavior as well
Just tired of people complaining and just trying to get people in trouble. If keys are being left lay around and employees are working off the clock then corporate needs notified and they will have someone watch cameras and handle it. But instead you complain on an open forum that dg does not even monitor.
People like that are miserable, they have no life and they will bring others down so they will be just as miserable too. Sad.
So apply for a job and help . Do the survey and complain but since you notice keys laying around you sound more like a disgruntled employee
rude/disrespectful manager
Took my two daughter to the store in 7 mile and grand river. I purchased my items with no problems. As my 14 yr old daughter begins to make her purchase she has the manager her money and he snatches it out her hands. Then when giving her the change back he throws it in her hand and it falls all over the counter. Because my child has manners and respect she picks the money up (which he should have) and says thank you and he says absolutely nothing. Not even an apology for throwing the money back at her. Now as a mother my first thought was to cuss him out but I teach my children to always be respectful, so I decided to write a complaint instead. Since the day that store has opened I have spent a lot of money in there. I come there quite frequently, but do to this manager I will not longer shop this location and I will definitely let my family and friends no not to as well.
I would call corporate, if this happened as you said he deserves to be reprimanded. Children deserve as much respect as adults. Glad that you held your tongue for your child, but as I don't believe corporate reads these you should do the survey and let them know.
credit card not credited back for items returned & peekskill dollar general store closes 10 minutes early
1st complaint: I returned two items back in May for a credit back to my MasterCard. Credit was never put back on my account after waiting for 2 billing cycles to go through so I went back to the store and complained showing them the two MasterCard statements and the receipts showing the credit. No apology, they gave me back the credit in money; O.K. but consumers beware if you return item(s) that were put on your credit card, check your monthly statements carefully for the credit to show back on your credit card. Keep ALL your receipts from Dollar General until you see the credit put back on your credit card. I believe this store is a Christian based company in Tennessee but it's their employees you have to watch. Two separate times I travelled over 10 miles to go the Dollar General for a item they sell called "Push-Pops" made by Nestle Company that none of my grocery stores carry. Dollar General in Peekskill is supposed to stay open everyday until 10 PM. Both times when I arrived at 9:50 PM the manager was already locking the door. I complained. I said I travelled over 10 miles to come here for the Push-Pops; "sorry was the reply, we're closing early tonight." Who should I complain to about this? It was apparently the manager who was closing early, who else would have keys to the store? Unfair to the consumer and someone over the Manager should be alerted to this.
This you need to take to corporate, if you were there at 9:50 and the manager was locking the door there is no reason for that, the should have let you shop. Emergencys happen and stores close early but 10 min is the manager being lazy. And the manager, assistant and manager on duty all have keys to the store.
customer safety
Hi! I am huge Dollar General shopper its always easy for me as mom to run in and grab what I need. Today unfortunately I had a horrible experience at one of the Dollar General Store. I just moved and stopped by for the first time at this particular Dollar General Store off Parvin rd. KCMO. Drama was going on in the store that was not clear to me and I only seen two employees, one at cash register and the other I seen and watched her stand in front of the entrance and exit door inside, facing the store. I herd her tell her fellow employee that she was going to stand there so that he can't leave. I did not know what was going on but I felt very unsafe and I watched the employee who was standing in front of the exit and entrance door; lock and unlock the door as customers were coming and going. My anxiety hit me hard and I almost had a panic attack. I was taught to lock them out not in. I was able to leave and as soon as I did the police had arrived . I don't think the employees there are educated to know what to do in a situation like I experienced today . I am very unhappy disappointed with my visit to this Dollar General which is less then half a mile from my new home. I rather drive 35 miles to the Dollar General store where I use to live the employees are always welcoming and helpful, it's clean and I feel safe there!
employees & store
You can go to this store at any time and you will find shelves always empty and boxes out in the isles waiting to be unpacked. You have to fight around boxes to make it down the isles. I have had to dig in boxes to get what I need. And this is not a one time thing. This has been going on for years. Tonight, I went in at 7:10 I grabbed a box of popcorn turned by the frozen food and saw the guy working there standing there with his phone in n one hand and a gallon of water in the other hand. I kept walking and watching him, he never stopped, I he never stopped I walked all the way till I got to the cereal Isles which he was blocking because he was watching his video, you ask how I know because when I got up to him I saw it playing and when I told him I needed cereal he hurried and turned it off but never even put his gallon of water on the shelf. I walked away, turned & he was back on it again with boxes all around him and he just sat against them. I don't know his name. He is a nice young African American, but whenever he checks you out you feel like you can't say anything to him because he always has headphones on.
I also forgot to mention that there is always trash outside all around the building. The employees are always out there smoking can’t they pick it up. Also you can never find a basket in the store and when you ask they tell you that you have to go get one somewhere outside. I am disabled, but I do it not to fight and make enemies. And since we can very seldom find what we need and it’s a shame since it is ony2 minutes from my home. But we have to pass it up and drive into town another 8 miles to another Dollar General or just go ahead and go to Super 1 or Walmart . They are closer after all.
service
I went to dollar general when I got off work today to buy my household products. I brought every I needed tissue angel soft which had a digital do 50 cents off Downy fabric softener which was $2 off. Perex laundry detergent which had a digital for $2 off then a couple more thing that didn't didn't have one everything came out to be $27 an some change which I had a $2off ten dollars that was supposed to be taking off ! I ask employee did my digital coupons come off they said yes! So I paid for my things an went home to see that none of my digital coupons came off. So I went back to the store to get see why my coupons was not working they then Gave me a refund. Then tried to ring them up again ...i put my phone number in again which is [protected]. Nothing happened the cashier replied to me I only have one clipped and I proceeded to show her the ones clipped. So she then told me there was nothing she could do. So I went to all the local ones which was two more besides them they tried an said the system must be down because we have had a few complaints about the digital coupons so I didn't buy the stuff they had digital coupons for! I was upset cuz what is the purpose of having digital coupons if they do not work. Guess I have to start shopping at family dollar
Call tech support number is on the receipt and on website. Cashiers cannot control digital coupons. They do not have access to your account and just cause you show them your phone does not mean they magically make them come off. If they override for you great but that means when it's fixed you still get to use your coupons so you are getting the deal twice, which is not fair to others.
sale
I went to my favorite store in Dublin, Va 24084, you have a buy 5 save 5 sale. So I bought 2 Mr Clean sprays, 1 pine sol, and 2 glade candles to meet the 5 required for the sale. Although I was not completely sure if I had the right products I followed the sales paper because there are no signs in the store. So based on what I bought my total should have been $8.00 before tax. I used 4 coupons which should have brought my total to $5.00, but some how I ended up with a total of $10.00?
When I began to check out before the cashier started to ring me up, I asked" are these the correct products for the sale?" She said she didn't know it was the first day of the sale ?!
This is not the first time sale prices were not posted for customers to easily identify in this store.
Thank you for your time
Brenda
Sounds like the sale wasn't instant. It probably printed a coupon on the bottom of the receipt for next time.
store detail and display
Hi my name is Teresa Busby I was in dollar General in webb, MS. I saw a post on the gain for 95 cent and I display the cashier with my product and she claim it's 1.95 but I was going by the post the store had display. It's a such thing as false regularly use fake, inflated prices to manipulate customers into thinking the inevitable discounts are more impressive. I can get a lawyer to look into it. Because I hate being put on the spot and people looking. My contact is [protected]
It was a misprint in ad. Were advised to remove before ad was put up..
Wonder why retail associates don't always have the most pleasant attitude, it's from dealing with people who have attitudes. Why not take the sign down had it to the cashier and say I believe this is up by mistake thought I would help out. Instead when not able to take advantage of the mistake threaten them and have an entitled meltdown. Mature!
lmao how are you gonna get so bent out of shape over a dollar?
It is a misprint and if you did the math you would see that . The store should not have put the sign up because obviously customers cant read or do math.
customer service
On multiple occasions i have entered Waynesboro, Pa Dollar General and have been accused of theft, When I have not stole anything from said store, And has become to the point of harassment that I have been told not to enter said store location unless I'm stay by the register. I have been publicly embarrassed in front of other customers which cause an emotional breakdown and had to leave before even getting to pay for what I was going to purchase and still am not allowed in that same store.
Why do you keep going back. If someone falsely accused me of theft I would not step back in their store.
I don't go back there. My husband went there one day to get things for me there and they won't let him go in because of me
app
Have changed phones and can no longer use coupons! I can bring up my account and add coupons with my email and password but they will not come up on the register.
The ONLY reason for going to DG instead of Walmart is coupons if you make it impossible to use them I will no longer shop at DG. My items this morning were over $60 but I left them there and bought the same items at Walmart. Fix it.
You need to go in and change the phone number on your account. Digital coupons are linked to your phone number, dg is not a mind reader they don't know you changed things and you are the only one who can fix it. They have a tech support you can call to help you but THIS IS NOT AT STORE LEVEL AND THE STORE DOES NOT CONTROL IT. Don't take it out on them.
