First of all, I have been a front line worker for the last 30 years and I want you to know that I never leave an online complaint about a store that I shop from, I just stop going there. However this isn't about me, this is about the safety of my family and the families of a small community. I'm not going to leave you a letter here, but I just thought you should know that in my community your store is known for not following any of the safety guidelines put forth by the CDC. I personally have been in both your stores in Naylor Missouri and poplar bluff Missouri and have never seen an employee wearing a face mask or practicing social distancing. My main concern is the store located at 1645 RR 61 Naylor Missouri 63953, The manager there openly admits that she doesn't wear a mask and does not require her employees to do so either. The only sign of any responsibility is the face shield behind the counter and the four Xs made out of dirty masking tape on the floor. My elderly diabetic parents shop there and I went in that store with my face mask and the employees smirked and looked at me like I was an alien because I was being responsible and doing my part to help protect my community. Again, I don't make bad reviews about stores where I shop, but I have no choice when a store threatens the lives of my family. Please address this before it is too late, and thank you for your time and patience.
I do not expect, nor will I tolerate, being bullied by DG employee 'Karen' because I can not wear a mask due to medical issues. That is, however, what happened at DG store #01954 in Carlisle, Ohio at 20:57 on 07/25/2020. Karen told me I had to have a mask on to shop in the store. I explained that I can not wear a mask due to medical issues. She told me that doesn't matter; I had to wear a mask. I told her that no, I do not have to wear a mask. She told me 'it's the law'. I told her no, it's not the law; there's an exemption for people who are unable to wear a mask due to medical conditions. That's why it's a recommendation, not mandatory. I added that she needed to put her own mask over her nose, not below it. She informed me that I don't know what I'm talking about, that masks are supposed to be worn below the nose. I told her 'she' obviously didn't know what 'she' was talking about - to which she replied she knew more about it than I. I replied 'obviously you don't' and walked away from her. She continued to say yes, she did and again I didn't know what I was talking about, yada, yada. I went to the register and asked the gentleman to get the manager for me. The manager, Denise, was not there. Karen was 'acting' manager. When she came to the register, I pointed to the store's signage and asked her to read the last statement on it. She refused so I read it to her. As I paid for a loaf of bread and two plastic containers, she continued to run her mouth. For the record, I do not have covid. I am medically considered to be at high-risk. However, I am at higher risk if I wear a mask. I suggest Dollar General, at the very least, make sure employees are informed about how 'they' should wear their masks and that it does matter if a customer can not wear a mask.
