Outrageous incident from store manager and staff/cashier
In november of 2021 an incident at family dollar/newburgh occurred which was egregious and outrageous. I reported it to the then dm, brian feinstein who after being aprised of the situation said he would research and get back to me. When I emailed him again, he was always wanting to talk over the phone rather anything in writing over email. Finally when he emailed back he said they take these things very seriously, take time to investigate thoroughly before getting back, this was already about a month after incident. He also informed me there was new dm that he was training and would be the one interviewing and investigating. Another month goes by and I sent email after email (about 4-5 in total) with no response back from him. Finally I called his number and he picked up not knowing it was me - he said matter had been transferred to new dm darwin to handle, he had just forwarded all my emails inquiring about the resolution to him. I also called the corporate office to complain and sent my explanation of the incident in writing to them; they assured me it would be related to the dm, regional manager, etc. It has now been over 6 months - not one word back regarding below incident from anyone at family dollar. Below is the outline of the incident I initially sent to brian feinstein - I was basically mistreated, abused and harrassed by first cashier, then store manager and another employee who jumped in as well as another african american customer on line.
Still waiting for response from fd, never heard back from them.
Over charged on store items and Store cashier will not grant refund to me.
First off i shop at Family Dollar every week and i spend Appr. $ 25.00 to 75.00 a week.
I went to Located at Ashley Phosphate Charleston SC store # [protected]
I purchased 13 Cans of 9 Lives cat food example#[protected] I was charged $1.70 Per can. The price at cat food location on shelf was $1.25 with receipt in hand.
I went back to the store the falling day and ask the cashier for a refund which would be 13X 0.45 = 5.85 not including Tax. The cashier told me he (would not) give me any kind of refund and that was the price per can of cat food. As i said i shop at Family Dollar every week and i know there was a price increase from $1.00 to $1.25 pre can of cat food 60 days ago.
All I am asking is for a re-fund for being over charged. Please advise me over this matter.

Desired outcome: Would like Refund for this over chargeI would like response
Customer Service
On Friday, May 20th, 2022, at 11:54am I was disrespected profusely by an employee of yours at the South Shore location at 2159 E. 71st Street, Chicago, IL 60649. I was leaving from a nearby meeting in the area and stopped in the store to grab a bottled water. When I entered the store, I was told by a guy in plain clothes who I didn't know was an employee that I would have to check my bookbag in. I then stated to him that I was just grabbing a water (he was right next to the coolers) and not going down any aisles, plus I have a code that needs to be entered for me to get in my bookbag (which I did not state to him). He told me that I was good, and I proceeded to the checkout line with my water. While in the line, the person working the register started saying disrespectful things about me but to another customer. I asked was she referring to me and she stated that she was and then asked if I assumed that she was going to bite her tongue. She then continued to be disrespectful to me and even started to use profanity towards me. I then asked for a manager because I didn't appreciate how she was talking to me, and that's when I found out that not only was the guy in plain clothes a manager, but he was lost and prevention. This wasn't mentioned until I asked for the manager, and she came to the front to see what the issue was. The manager apologized for what I experienced but the employee continued with the insults as she left from the register.
Desired outcome: Do a complete overhaul of the employees there at that location. It's bad enough what people are experiencing on a regular, but to have a person continuously being insulted and disrespected by one of your employees is ridiculous!
Employee misconduct and disrespect
I just went to store number # 09319 Bigley Ave Charleston WV. A customer told me that the tide laundry detergent was on sale. I picked one up and as I was in the aisle, a female employee ran to the aisle yelling "come help me, hurry up, stop what you are doing and hurry up" while she proceeded to take all the tide oxy detergent off of the shelf. Two other female employee stopped checking out customers to run to the aisle to help carry all the tide oxy detergent from the shelves to the front of the store. I had one tide that was not the tide oxy and was told that item was not on sale. I said I would like the one that is on sale, please. I was then told there are none left. I asked for one of the 10-15 bottles that they had on the floor and sitting on the counter. I was told that was theirs and recommended that I go to another location. I'm shocked at the unprofessionalism and disrespect of all 3 on duty employees. One of the employees had a name tag that read 'Dee store manager.' I mentioned that the sale was based on one bottle of tide oxy per customer and they said that's correct only one per person. I'm confused about how they plan on purchasing at least 10-15 bottles between the 3 of them that they had laying all over the front of the store saying they all belonged to them. This conduct is unacceptable. I'm sure that the manufacturer of tide would not appreciate this behavior by your employees. I'll be sure to contact them as well.
Desired outcome: The detergent that I should have had no problem purchasing as a customer of your store. It should be free at this point after dealing with all of that today.
Employee Misusing employee status to get sale item.
I just went to store number # 09319 Bigley Ave Charleston WV. A customer let me know that the tide laundry detergent was on sale. I picked one up and as I was doing so a female employee ran to the aisle yelling "come help me, hurry up", "stop what you are doing and hurry up" while she proceeded to take all the oxy tide off the shelf. Then 2 other female employee showed up in the aisle and they begin to help carry all the tide from the shelves to the front of the store. I had one tide that was not oxy tide and was told that one was not on sale. I said I would like the one that is on sale, please. I was then told there are none left on the shelves. I asked for one of the 10-15 bottles that they had on the floor and sitting on the counter. I was told that was theirs and recommended that I go to another store. I'm shocked at the unprofessionalism and disrespect of not one but 3 on duty employees. One of which had a name tag of DEE store manager. I mentioned a sale rule of one per customer and they said that's correct only one per person. So I'm confused about how they plan on purchasing at least 5 bottles a piece that they had in plain sight saying they all belonged to them. This conduct is alarming for the customer and I'm sure for the store owners. I'm sure that the manufacturer of tide would not appreciate their product being hoarded or misused by employees of Family Dollar. I'll be sure to contact them as well.
Desired outcome: I would like to be able to participate in the sale that Family Dollar was having for their customers.
Charging me for unpurchased item and refused to refund
On 5/17/22, approx 8:45 pm, location 634 Prospect, KCMO, store # 02306, I purchased 2 boxes of Klondike ice cream for 5.00 each. I go to this store every day. I am elderly and can't see that well but literally live within walking distance of the store so I wasn't able to see the receipt until I returned home and put my glasses on. I walked back there with my receipt to the young black female with glasses who checked me out originally and told her she overcharged me. She beligerently accused me that I was wrong and that I bought 3 boxes and she told a young man to check the camera but he wanted to just give me my money back so they could close. I announced that I was no thief or liar and told her to check that camera b*itch. The young man gave me a refund and as I was exiting the store, she followed me out the door in threatening manner as if she wanted to hit me and yelled "what did you say? I'm from the hood!" then her coworker drug her back inside. She was very unprofessional over such a small matter. Her reaction is what prompted my reaction.
Desired outcome: She shouldn't be working there at all but at the very least, an apology is due to me.
Merchandise not properly priced
Family Dollar Store 10011 1556 Monument Road Jacksonville FL 32225 On 16 May 2022, During My visit to my local family Dollar, I selected two items from the shelf for purchase. Hi I have been working for you for about a month. I have been the store manager at Walgreens 7-11 beach bowl lane and burger king. so I know how to work. The store is nasty dirty, high thief. she asked me to step up and has not giving me the time or the info to take the test needed. Her employees do what they want not what needs to be done and they make other people quit by being nasty to them. I see potential in this store but being forced to be the cashier is wasting my talents. and I have asked how to get my pay stubs and no help still. I do not know what to do. so here I am.
Desired outcome: call me please I have more to say
Overcharged
I was overcharged for White Castle Burgers on the freezer shelf it says $6.00 at the register it was ringing up $6.55. I have my receipts and my proof with a picture that was of the price on the freezer shelf. This is happening at this location evertime I shop here and I'm sick of it, the store has a sign up about price changes but not fixing it in the...

On 5/11/22 I was overcharged for 5 items that I buy regularly. 3 cans of collard greens that were on the shelf for $1.00 and 2 rolls of Jimmy Dean sausage on the freezer shelf for $3.60 when I got to the register I was watching the prices because by now I pretty much know I am going to be overcharged and the prices won't be the same, when I got home I checked the receipt and I was overcharged for the 3 cans of collard greens at $1.75 each when on the shelf it clearly says $1.00. I was overcharged as well for my 2 sausage rolls at the price of $4.60 each when clearly on the shelf it is priced $3.60. The staff and management are aware of these prices overcharges because they put a sign up and when I address it do nothing they try to make small talk as a distraction to what is going on. I am sick of having to write about something that is not my job or issue to fix as a customer. It's annoying to have to go into a store a deal with being overcharged every single no matter the day or hour.
Desired outcome: Return my overcharges back on my card
Employees
On May 10th 2022 at approximately 3 pm I was entering a Family Dollar on Market & Kerr Streets in Wilmington NC. As I entered the store Two employees one being a manager were coming out the exit door I assume to smoke out front. I grabbed the door to hold it for them and an employee coming out said, that’s the entrance door very rudely! I did what she said and then got to thinking, why didn’t she just hold the door for me. My God I’m pushing sixty and why the harsh treatment and tone? So I circled back outside where the two were standing and asked her, I said ma’am I am not trying to start trouble but why didn’t you just let me in. She replied, “CAN YOU READ THAT SAYS ENTER”? Wow!, I kept calm and said, Ma’am I would have held it for you! She replied, “THAT’S YOU”! She said, “CAN’T YOU SEE THAT DOESN’T HAVE A HANDLE ON IT TO PULL”? Mind you you have a manger that is standing there the entire time and does nothing to defuse the situation. No can you go back inside or you shouldn’t say those things absolutely nothing! At this point I had had it with the rude game and expressed my full discontent over her I let both have a full expression of there contempt and rude behavior. The manager told me to leave and she would call the cops. I told her to go ahead I was calling the DM and Corporate. I was in management for many years. I have never witnessed an employ saying anything like that to a customer in my life! But what may very well be the kicker is I have never seen a manager allow anyone to speak to a customer that way. My wife a Deli Manager for a Major Grocery Store for 25 years says she hadn’t had an employee to ever do that in her entire management career. I was a manger and District manger for the New York Times and I have never encountered anything like that in my life. Understand I frequent Family dollar often as a HotWheels collector. In fact I went to five Family dollars yesterday. I absolutely visit Family Dollars stores often probably more than most anyone. I have never been addressed with anything other than the up most respect! So I called the DM, Mr. Downing and told him. He is an exceptionally nice person. As were the employees at the store that I called him from. Especially the Assistant Kerrigan Bartlow. I know this isn’t the way Family Dollar is as I say I shop am a member of a Hotwheels club that relays information to one another about where to find if we locate any. Especially hard to find now being as the west coast is having distribution problems. So we as a team bring business that way and it saves us gas by communicating finds as opposed to just randomly going on a hunt. Well I don’t know if they had them and clearly once ask to leave I couldn’t call anyone and tell them a yea or nay. Again I know this isn’t how family Dollar operates and I can assure you those two would never survived a minute with the NY Times! That was totally uncalled for and a manager that allows an employee to speak to a customer that way and stands by idol clearly lacks the skill to become manager! Thank you very much for your time, Eugene Davenport
Desired outcome: Termination
Manager being unfair
Manager Mrs.Catina works at the store in Kenner,La and she is about to quit and she only giving hours to her employees that she taking with her to CVS Drug Store on David Dr. In Metairie and the ones she not taking with her don't get any hours and I don't think it's fair. Tuesday evening she spoke out loudly in front of customers that she hate Kenner and all of Kenner people are broke. That's not manager material for anyone.
Desired outcome: Take care of the problem
Overcharged
I was overcharged again at the 417 Brentwood St. Location in High Point NC 27260 for the hundredth time. I was overcharged for twizzlers and beef Jerky the price on the shelf for the twizzlers was $1.00 at the register it was ringing up $1.25. The price for the bigger pack of twizzlers was $2.00 on the shelf and ringing up $2.15 at the register. The manager...

Hello, its been months now that everytime I go to my Family Dollar store # 11536, I have to look everywhere or wait to get a shopping cart, or a shopping basket, which is very annoying and not really understandable as everytime I dont ven see many customers using them, But yesterday was the worst! There was NO CARTS, NO BASKETS! how are we supposed to shop? This is unacceptable!
App Coupons
Today I went into your McCormick store and I purchased items that I had clipped coupons for and I also clipped the $5 forced to shop on Saturday coupon, when I got to the register I entered my telephone number because your stores block all wifi and data services you can not pull up your app without walking to the door or outside the store but when you come back in it will not work. I ended up spending $51 for my items because your app did not apply the coupons. That is the second and last time that will happen because I can no longer justify shopping at a store that advertise coupons yet the coupons are not applied at all. It's unclear to me why Family Dollar has not closed in McCormick because if it's not the dirty store it's the coupon scams. I plan to take the items that I purchased at Family Dollar to Dollar General and purchase each item exact and use their coupons as advertised and in turn return to Family Dollar to return what I was cheated and get all of my money back. Never to return to Family Dollar again with the fake coupons, no wifi and a app.
Desired outcome: Employee did not know how to fix the problem. I really wish you all cared but I know you do not.
Harrassment
store #08854
manager ( paul) was very rude and very disrespectful to its only associate on the floor. I witnessed the manager (paul) see the associate with a line of people and just walked straight to the back as if he has not seen anything. A spill happened during that time however he walked to the back and then after the line died down he noticed it and started to ridicule the associate and tried to degrade her and was yelling to where you can hear him throughout the store. i have even called during the associates shift to hear him complain and ridicule her though he is never up front or to be found. there is also another associate (john/johnathan) who has made sexual gestures/remarks/ touching towards her body and she has requested to be moved and left alone; however, it continues and she is in fear of coming to work or being on time. this has been ongoing for months and as an associate she doesn't know what to do and fears working there. not to mention, the area always being robbed and her having to that happen to her as a whole. she shouldn't have to change her schedule/clothing to feel comfortable and it has caused her nonstop emotional distress. Also, the area is full of crime and they're not even allowed to have pepper spray to protect themselves against others who would do harm
Desired outcome: i would like a case to be open and for people to be held responsible for their actions/ schedule change. no one should have to change their clothing to feel comfortable or dread coming to work due to emotional distress
store#11410 W. Vandalia Rd. Greensboro NC.
I'm in the store waiting my turn. When I get to the cashier we greet each other, I tell her I need a case of water and a bag of ice. She rings the bag of ice up with the chart she has and tells me I have to get the case of water and put it on the counter in order to ring it up. And I comply as I do so I state i'm 62 years old and wasn't trying to lift it more then once. She calls for someone to get the bag of ice as the cooler outside is locked. (no where i`ve been as of late keeps their cooler locked in this area) the guy has no clue, and walks up to a car out front and says something to the women in the car. I guess she the manager. She that's her time and is on the phone talking about getting her nails done on sunday. She comes out of the store with the keys... Still talking on the phone. Fumbles around to find the right key... The door is all the way open and she is off to one side of the door. Ireach in and get a bag, start the brake it up by slamming it on the ground several times. She asks me is that your bag of ice? I say, yes... Do you need to see the receipt? "no but I don' appreciate you grabbing it out of my hand." it wasted in your hand and i'm tin a hurry... As useule. She says i'm getting a bag out that they need inside yada yada... That's for me I say. She comes back out all pissy and calls me a cracker three times as we are now yelling at each other.
And they are the facts...
Desired outcome: Her to be fired ....
Overcharges/ store prices
I was shopping in store 08592 in High Point NC as usual and again I was overcharged for a cereal. The cereal was $1.95 on the shelf and when I got to the register it was ringing up $2.35. Now I noticed this time I went shopping the manager named Ricky had a sign up about price changes and the difference but that is only to save them from having to do a...

Manager banning anyone she pleases.
On Saturday April 30, 2022. I went to Family Dollar in Carnegie PA. I purchased a 2.81 ounce bag of Wintergreen flavor Lifesavers. The bag was hanging under a tag reading 1 dollar and there was bigger bags worth more. But I got the 1 one. Brought it to the checkout and it got rung up as 2 dollars. I used the app and scanned the item and it said 1 dollar. I was also told I almost ran someone over. I was told I disrespected the manager. I apologized to the one manager in question. But they did not return nothing. I left after the fact the manager said they was going to take care of the pricing issue. They never asked me to give them the reciept. I thought they meant they was going to take care of the pricing on the shelf. So I left the store with trusting that they was going to change the prices on the shelf. It was said I left in a mad mood and also almost running someone over. I apologize for this and still I am banned from the store. Manager can't keep story straight. I went in person today and well now still band and cops will be called if I call the store for any reason. And not allowed to be on property as well. I feel the manager is letting all others in as S
They think it will matter another mot
Desired outcome: Being let back in the store.. As well as a new manager. And for Manager
I on April 30 and May 1 was banned from the store by management Reason I am unsure as the management can't get the story right. 3 things happened. I challenged the price of an item and yes got loud a bit but also was told I practically ran someone over while leaving the store. I feel that I even after apologizing still is not allowed to enter the store and I was prepared to not let the same thing happen again. Management said I argued. Okay fine. But you don't ban someone for arguing and trying to reconcil for what happened. 3 different things and still nowhere close as to why I got banned because management couldn't keep the issue straight. Since this is an issue and I see other things going on in the store and nothing happens to resolve them. I feel it's unfare to me and those who got banned by this one person. They make up stupid things to ban someone and that is so childish. They said they can ban anyone they want and called the store theirs. I am also in a motorized wheelchair so where am I to shop in my neighborhood. The management said you should have thought of that before and did not finish
