management
Ok, so this is petty but I have to get it out. So, yesterday I was in Anderson and decided to stop at Dollar General to get cat food. Well, after listening to the 2 ladies behind the counter about a domestic issue, I brought my things and placed them on the counter. A box of Swiss Rolls, 4 small cans Of cat food and an air freshener for the car (one if those big trees). So as I stood there, they continued their conversation ignoring me completely. Finally the cashier decided to ring in my stuff, while still talking. Never even said hello to me. She rings in the Swiss Rolls and the cat food and tells me my total. I point to the air freshener, that was close enough to slap her in the face, and she says "oh". Then tells me my new total. I give her the money, she hands me the change and STILL continues her conversation. No Thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. So as I was walking out the door I thought about asking for the manager. I turned around and looked at the other woman that was talking, and I actually think she WAS the manager! I could be wrong but I will never go to that Dollar General again! I never have that problem in Rogersville. Anderson Alabama DG is the worse. Almost never want to go back into another one again
dollar general employee, store condition and poor customer service
store #08862, Jemison, al. My complaint is poor customer service and unclean store. No one is ever available to help customers when they are searching the store for specific items and there is debris all over the floors and in the entry way on the outside of the building. I was there today within the past 30 minutes (cst) and there were 6 people standing in line while the one cashier open was attending a customer. Another employee came to the front, observed the waiting line, and then walked over to an end cap of merchandise and started shuffling through rearranging the wall. A customer asked her to open a register and she mumbled as rudely as possible she couldn't do it. She waited about a minute and the opened a register, complaining the whole time. She waited on two customers and then me. I asked if she was the manager and she rudely stated she was the only one on the floor at this time. I asked her again and got the same reply. I asked who her manager was and she mumbled a name several times that I could not understand. She said her name was Ashley. She complained the whole time she checked me out and never once apologized for being rude. This is not the first time I have encountered this in your store. Since the day it opened it has been this way. I spend way too much money in your store to be getting this kind of customer service and will NEVER spend another dime there. I will gladly go to Family Dollar around the corner where my patronage is appreciated.
You may contact me to verify this if needed.

customer service
I enter the dollar general located in Bensalem inside the Bensalem Center Plaza . As i was picking out my items i noticed it was only one person working. Which was fine. As i was done picking what i wanted, i told the worker that i was done shopping if he could please check me out. Well he got an attitude with me and stated that he wasn't going to stop what he was doing just because i was done. That was very rude then he proceeded by saying he was not going chase me out the door or stop me from leaving. I have never experience so much disrespect while shopping at any of the dollar general location. That was very rude and unexpected no customer should be treated this why no matter how bad the workers Day is going
store manager at store 11162 in barron, wi
I was in the Dollar General in Barron, WI the other day and the store manager was really nasty to an employee in front of customers...manager was degrading the employee as well as other employees...in front of customers. Don't know what kind of managers DollarGeneral hires or continues to employ but this is disgusting. I personally know the employee and I feel bad for the employee. No wonder there has been a higher turnover there lately.

Cashier
Hello,
I had a 5 off 25 coupon which i tried to use on 6 gain products (liquid detergent, dryer sheets, fabric softener, in wash, dish washing liquid, and flings
The cashier scanned my coupon and while I was putting my number in he began to total me out. I said "sir I was putting my number in and the screen disappeared" so he tries to go back which brought the screen back up.
I put my number in but my digitals did not come off. A young female came over and voided everything out to try it all over but she said I couldn't use my 5 off 25 because he already scanned it. So I said that wasn't right and she said "well I don't know what to tell you" she was very irritated
so I asked to speak with the manager.
She called him on her cell phone, after talking with him he told her to give me a $2.50 credit on two items. She scanned everything again, I put my number in before she totalled it out then she said "your digitals did not work and I don't know what to tell you soooooooooooooooooo"
So I said nevermind and left the store that was not right how she made me feel like I did anything wrong. She talked to me like she was mad at something before I came in the store. I me losing my 5 off 25 coupon was just a bummer.
When I returned home and checked my digitals they we're still there unused.
dvd player sylvania
I purchased a DVD player on 11/16/2017 at store number 16493 in Milan, Tn. After arriving home, my family and I attempted to watch a movie from our newly purchased DVD player bought from DG. We had to cut away a tremendous amount of tape from the box to get the DVD player loose. There was no need to keep box after having to demolish it in order to get the product free. We inspected the player and it appeared to be new although minor very tiny scratches were slightly visible. We spend a very large amount of money at DG as well as refer a lot of other customers. We never thought the product would be dysfunctional or we would have kept the non recognizable box. We hooked up the DVD player per instructions and from many many years of experience, selected a movie and pushed play on the remote control (after purchasing batteries). To our surprise, nothing. We followed all appropriate steps and still nothing with the exception this dysfunctional apparatus would not release our DVD. We have attempted to return the player in exchange for another but we were rudely told NO! We were told NO by the same employee who was our checker, told no by 2 other employees including the manager, Cindy. Supposedly it is due to the fact we didn't keep the box that was taped so securely around the player. My thoughts now is the tape was more than likely due to this particular product being a return and then sold again to me (the customer that ended up losing 30.00 plus on a product someone knew was bad making me a total fool)! I am highly upset with DG. On this particular trip, we spent over 200.00. On any given week, my family spends well over 500.00 collectively to a store that treated members of my family as well as myself with such disrespect and obviously cheated us. Now I'm stuck with a product from your store that doesn't work, out a DVD that cost us 20.00 and 3 trips to be treated like thieves when the store clearly knew it was purchased there and looked at our receipt that was clear evidence it came from that store as well.
Old Russian saying... Buy cheap, buy twice.
Those dollar stores specialize in JUNK.
It is very common for stores not to accept returns if the original packaging is not included. You could try contacting their corporate office to see if they can assist you however. It's doubtful but it doesn't hurt to try.
lack of service, organization, and products in gallatin, mo
11/27/2017
This is the fourth time in recent weeks I have tried to shop at our local Dollar General, just to find the shelves either in complete disarray, or half empty with cases upon cases of product blocking the aisles. Just this morning, I went to buy a large bag of cat food just to be told the following when I inquired where they were: "Oh, we got a delivery on Saturday. We'll get it out sometime this week." Seriously? This is the only response the sales clerk could muster?
I am a breast cancer patient and haven't been able to get out often the past few months, so when I do, it is for necessities such as food or household products. One example is when I went to our local Dollar General last Friday to buy some groceries; Campbell's Soup was all but non-existent, not one can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup on any of the shelves, nowhere. This is ludicrous. I have even tried to do a little bit of Christmas shopping for children, but the aisles are in complete disarray, one can barely walk through them. And, product choice has diminished drastically over the last year.
I do believe I am now done with Dollar General unless some drastic changes are made, especially at our local store in Gallatin, Missouri.
Thank you for your time.
Yes, I did ask, and I usually see four or more employees in the store. Oftentimes, a few a busy talking near the rear of the store instead of stocking shelves. It's just become a very unorganized store over the last year. But, calling ahead is not a bad idea.
They might be short-staffed which could explain why the product didn't get put out on the same day. Did you ask them to grab one for you? Since you are limited in trips you can make to the store, you could consider calling in advance to see if they have your items available. If neither of these options sound appealing, you may want to do as you suggested as just go somewhere else.
disrespectful manager
I am a current customer of Dollar General with store 1861, Cadiz, Ohio. I am sorry but I feel that if your going to be a manager of a big store or any store in that matter they should be trained for that job. This manager has only been in this particular store for less than a month but he has been a manager for Dollar General for only 7 months. This store has never looked so bad as it does now. The shelves are so empty and the coolers are bare. Everything is still in the back room. There are carts full of Christmas products in the isles to were you can barely get through them. These products should be on shelves so the customers can shop. He isn't a very nice guy at all. Very rude! I worked for Dollar General for 7 years and left to further my career. The am a manager for the agency that I work for so I do know how a manager should act . I had a charge for my agency and he couldn't even do a charge and had to ask a employee why it wouldn't let him do this particular charge. The employee showed him what he needed to do. This should be manager 101. If this complaint goes to the district manager that is where it will lay because they are friends. They both worked for Family Dollar before making a career change. I don't feel he should be a manager or need additional training to be in that position. I have heard a lot of talk from other customers that the store has went down hill since he has taken it over. I know for a fact that this store is a 3+ million dollar store. I would like to also say that this is the only grocery store that we have in our town since our grocery store had closed over a year ago. So when you go to Dollar General to get milk or bread and there is non because it is still in the back room there is a really big problem there. I hope something will happen to get our store back to where it was. I have a really bad feeling that employees will start leaving because of management.
disrespectful manager
Today I was shopping at Dollar General Nov.26, 17 located on 2330 W.Baker St. Plant City, Fl.The time was around 2PM I was standing in line waiting to check out when the store manager came in an yelled at Peggy the cashier.Told her to shut up and quit talking to customers, Icouldn't believe he talked to her like that in front of customers. That is so unprofessional for a manager to talk to their employees.
market

The teller say this is 20 Items or less I sad OK but we been standing hear and know we put are good down you tell us we have to get are thing and move to a other line and wet for a chaser. I sad no we are in this line. They do this all the time in this store. If you have a lager grosser order which ares was about 200 worth of goods . So my 78 year old Mother got all her ting off the counter and went to anther line. which was know full of other cusmters and did not get in line for. We tried to speck it a Supervisor and sad that how it work we are sorry. We left I was so anger I told them I did not wont my thing a and asked for a refund that took me anther line. and 20 mints.
service
Three of us were shopping at dollar general in Jonesville Virginia just yesterday. The sign for 50% off ornaments were still up and the guy working offered us the ornaments that way even tho the sale was off. In checkout the assistant manager was rude and said no way. She continued to be rude and all ornaments were left on the shelf instead bought. Being rude to an 86 year old makes it look bad. Seriously considering not shopping here any longer.
corporate lack of attention to employees
I an a former employee of Dollar General in Quartzsite, AZ. I am in my 70's worked a year, top cashier...worked circles around young people. Had terrible manager, filthy store. Freight delivered thru front door, warehouse full. Finally changed management, improved a lot but still way under staffed. Town of 3200 in summer, half million in winter. Labor way too tight to meet demands. Good employees burned out. Now another good manager leaves and the snowbird population has grown, who will manage this store...who will allow labor hours to accomplish goals? ? Someone needs to come take part for a week, hear customers complaints, throw freight, tend to business. This store has been ignored far too long! Action please now.
staff including manager did not want to give me the $5.
the store on mendon rd refuse to give me the five dollar for saturday over $25 dollars I had to go and get all the stuff so they can deleted and rering again making people wait and making me change registers. only cuz I couldn't find my coupon in my wallet and had to go get it. I gave them the two slips but it was not enough I had to go with my kids embarrass and get the groceries. that's not fair to treat us that way cuz they''re tired. the two slips should've been enough why delete all Items and ring them again I ask the manager and she said it was your Policy. that was a crazy thing when everybody heard that they were mad. the mendon rd store in woonsocket may need to get a day of rest since they look overtired. Rhode Island 02895.
Thank You and hope you correct this policy is different from all other store I am going to Family Dollar they even say hello when I go in. november 25 2017.

service
I have worked for Dollar Gerenal for 5 years the first day I stepped into their place of employment didn't have a clue what I was doing. I was put on totes and at that time didn't no should I run or stay. Why, because it was so overwhelmed. I wasn't explain how to do anything. But, at the same time I was happy because I knew i had a job. Coming from csm to a assistant manager from Dollar General market back to Dollar General I work hard driving 45 mins to an hour I love my job. Sometimes open to close. Didn't know I was about to lose my family have 3 kids didn't even see them. Coming home when they were sleep and leaving before they got up my daughter couldn't get involved in activities because I was to focus on my job. They would call when are coming home my respond was I'm coming but wouldn't never make it. But, I realize I have people that love me at home. but, I'm here so I stopped and realize if I get sick or any anything would happen they wouldn't care. Because I seen and heard things that wasn't right. So, I started working the hours that I needed to work then go home. finally, got married. My employees knew I wasn't focus on the store money start missing store started to get cluttered up. But at the same time I was tired but did anyone care dollar General dm' s didn't care as long as you worked so their stores look good. Yes, paperwork wasn't right but I had other managers that knew what had to be done. But it's all on the store managers. As soon as weekly paperwork came out yes I followed all procedures I reviewed cctv I ask for help but what did TINFFANY tell me you are the manager how could I do anything without help but I was told I already had a team it was my fault I hired those people that I had. If I knew that I had someone behind me to get my store back in good standard I would have let everyone go. Oh, the one you interview you let her stay and she was the one taking totes on stuff out the front door. But i didnt know a thing becuase i was in the dark just like you were. Because I was the manager. you let me go thinking that I was the problem I didn't want nothing from dollar General but making that store a better store. L.p. comes in didn't help thinking they help the problem didn't do nothing because you still got the wrong person. That young lady just put everything on herself. ( Lee know what im talking about)Do you think they would have told me anything think for a minute I was the manager. But, now they can. The only thing tiffany was trying to do is be friends. Talking behind every last store manager one back. oh, I have a story to tell about that. What about the [censor]es that we were. I ask for help they came when they wanted to come. Now, I don't have a job unemployment was denied but when I ask why I'm losing my job it wasn't nothing to explain just call the 1-800 number. But, I'm not finish yet this is just the beginning because I'm not just stopped here I'm going live. They want you to work hard 80 hours or more but on your check you are only getting pay for 45 hours. They don't care.
the dollar general sign
Dollar General has a store sign that's broken up and hanging above where the entrance and exit doors are located. This has been the situation for months now. It seems to be a lack of urgency for something that looks unattractive as well as dangerous for the customers and your employees in my community. Please attention it. Thank you

I just visited Dollar General Store #1752 in Fort Worth, Texas and I have never been as insulted and offended in all my life! Upon entering with my children in tow, I wasn't not greeted as per the norm in any retail setting, instead I was TOLD, not asked to leave my bag with my personal belongings at the front! Not only did your employee insult me in front of my children, but in front of a full store as well! I have never known there to be such a "policy" and do not appreciate being stereotyped! I will NOT spend my hard earned money where I am insulted and not given the same courtesy as several other patrons who had bags as well! I will be contacting the Corporate Office and sharing my experience on every review board I come across! This company has forever lost a customer in me and I will definitely NOT recommend ANY of my friends/family patronize this business!
dollar generals in bad areas do this. relax it’s not a big deal.

unethical behavior
i was at the dollar general in shelbyville ky. 11-22-17 picking up some two liters and bread for thanksgiving. i was back getting the drinks when i hear a woman yelling at the top of her lungs, "i am not waiting on you", "go over there i will not check you out". she screamed this around 5 times. everything went quiet and i peaked around the aisle to make sure it was ok to go up to check out. everything looked ok so i did. i get to the register and she looked toward a man exiting the store and told him " have a real good one hear". and this man gave her a very foul look and left. as i was finishing the check out process, i told the girl that in these days and times you should not try to instigate things with people. the people in las vegas were only at a concert and got shot, can you imagine what a face to face encounter could attract.. i was so scared i even cried when i got to the car and home. this was terrible behavior and i'm thinking of talking to a lawyer to see what i can do for her putting my life in danger
