cashier
We need to make a last-minute purchase for Thanksgiving and was in line in front of two white anglo women who were being very nicely greeted by the cashier, when it came to my turn she didn't even asked me if she could help me she rang me up got me out of the way as quick as she could. I don't appreciate racism just because I'm Hispanic I shouldn't be stereotyped as a Mexican that was exactly at 10:20 this morning to 1040 and it is Thanksgiving day.
awful
Why sell items that are not in stock?
it's not a secret that Dollar General is very popular in the United States. Many people tried them. And most of them had problems. Different ones.
One of the most popular issues is unavailable items. Unfortunately, I had to deal with this. It irritates when you choose what you want, then you pay for this, and a little bit later they tell you that the items are out of stock, sorry, wait for them to arrive one day... and then you have to open disputes and ask for your money like an idiot.
I did it twice and want no more. Enough.
the employee brandy
I walk in to the store she was nice but she went to check me out and she was very rowd and mean and very disrespectful so I just left with out nothing this took place in keifer ok, dollar general the woman's name is brandy I will never go back to this store I really need to talk to a manager about this woman cause her rude comments and the tone of her voice made me feel very unwelcome in the store
items left behind
Good afternoon! I went into your Dollar General store #15652 and some of the items I paid for were left behind. My husband called the store to check to see if 3 of the items we didn't have mistakenly were left behind. Per the lady we talked to no bags where left and there was nothing she could do about it. I called back to let them know that it was a few hours back so maybe someone had put them back on the shelve but we didn't have the items. Her response was I can't make a bag appear out of thin air. I then ask to speak to a manager and she stated she was the manager on duty. Well I let her know that I didn't think that was a way to talk to her customers. She then said she would review the tapes and called me back. She stated we grabbed all the bag which I know we did but I do believe our items were left in the rack down below where she bagged them. She never once stated sorry that happened or offer to help out with anything. I understand that some people may call and say items were left behind but I am not that person. I think for a manager she should have been a little bit nicer the way she handled the situation.
store in general
The Dollar General store in Fincastle VA is in serious need of someone who cares about retail. The store is a constant mess. I only go to this Dollar General if I have to. There is a Family Dollar in the next town over that I will go to. It is much, much cleaner and the staff much more friendly.
The store in Finacaslte constantly has carts full of merchandise that needs to be shelved. They have so much crammed into this small store, that merchandise is falling off the shelves and on the floor. Today I went there and there were do many carts with boxes on them, they were pushed up against the shelves and you could not see anything. It truly is a dumpy store. When I go there I try to get in and out as fast as I can because I feel like something is going to fall on me at any moment.
Would someone please come and take a look at this store? It is need of help. Most of the time they only have one register open and when there is a long line, no one comes to open the 2nd register.
wrongful termination/discrimination
My wife works for dollar general, she has recordings of discrimination by the store manager, singled out because of race, and religion my wife told her that she don't feel comfortable wearing Christmas clothing and she told my wife that she will be fired if she don't wear it, , so I called corporate office to complain against her she after that threatened my wife, and said she is gonna fire her puertorican [censor], she found out that I called the corporate office, so she fired my wife for no reason and gave her these two papers saying that me or my wife can't go inside the store anymore, I never met this lady, without warning she just fired my wife for no reason, in dollar generals handbook, she has to give written warnings which she failed to do so,
> My wife overheard her talking she said she wants to keep that dollar general all white

the manager at rosiclare il branch needs fired
PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS AND ADDRESS THIS DEVASTATING PROBLEM YOU HAVE IN THE ROSICLARE IL BRANCH, , , , , , , , , , I have a complaint on the manager at DGS in rosiclare il. His name is Willy and he needs to be fired . in mid August he stopped my lady as she was checking out and accused her of stealing 3 dollar fingernails. Very unprofessional . He didn't take her to the back of the store and be a professional and investigate the situation, no he belittled, humiliated and embarrassed her to the point to where she was crying right there in front of the whole store. He is not a cop but he acted like one by detaining her an demanding to search her purse. Would not let her leave until his demands were meant . She presented the manager Willy proof by reciept and he was so sure she stole them he wouldnt even look at it . . still embarrassing her in front of the whole store and the people in it . He laughed and smerked and was full of confidence that he was right he threw the receipt back to her.. This is how incompetent of a manager he is when he finally looked at the receipt, he didn't know how to read it and it was right there in blAck and white .. Nor did he take the time to review the in house tape recorded. So now About an hour of holding her captive he gets a police officer there. Again makes a scene with the cop there humiliating and accusing her of theft in front of check out counter. It took the police officer to say, did you review the tape, so an hour of interrogation, humiliation it took only 5 minutes of watching the tape to decide she was innocent . Willy the manager at the rosiclare il branch was mad as hell because he thought he was so right, yet, he was so wrong an so out of line he said just go.. Not an apology, not a he was sorry for the unprofessionalism he presented for making her literally break down an cry . He terrified her and he should be fired . she came so upset and crying i asked what's wrong ? So we went back down there an this time I showed the manager the receipt and pointed to the purchase and unbelievably he still denied it was not on there . After the third time your manager finally seen the purchase on the receipt that was presented to him and then he demanded that we leave the store and not return ..WOW ! I ask you DGS district manager is this how you train your managers to treat the paying citizens. I highly recommend he is fired .. Thank you
MIKE BLAIR
The individual who was questioned by the manager (your "lady") may want to contact the corporate customer service directly. Since you were not present for the entire situation and was not the individual accused of theft, the complaint should not come from you.
check out clerk very ill
I stopped at the Dollar General and got more than I expected! The lady checking us out was extremely ill, she had a fever. She had snot running out of her nose. She also advised us to use hand sanitizer upon checking out. I asked her why was she here and not at home. Her reply, "I would lose my job". As I was walking out, the manager was walking in with an arm full of food. I threw my bags in the trash. I threw $64 in the dumpster. I have one of the largest business' in the town and shop for all my supplies at this Dollar General. I put up with the rude employees that make you feel like you are bothering them by checking out. I put up with the crowed isle and stock carts in the way, but this is too much. Yes, I could of dropped my stuff and walked out but I didn't know how bad it was until I was already being rung up and at that point I think I was literally in shock. She wiped her nose and handed me money. Here is the best part, I woke the next day and felt like crap. My throat was sore, I ached all over. I have 6 children. Here we go... and no insurance.
The girl stocking shelves could of been up front. There was enough stuff on the shelves. Maybe DG needs to cut back hours and open up room for more employees. This is bad business and needs to be dealt with.
phone return policy & manager's customer service
My dad (72) lost his net10 flip phone. I searched several others including wal mart and none had the flip net 10. So I brought another company flip thinking it would work from your store. I called and they said it wasn't compatible, so I brought the unopened pkg back and the workers informed me that they couldn't exchange or refund the item. I asked why she says the manager want allow anyone but her to take phone returns. So I asked okay so now what am I supposed to do. They (The two working) tell me to come back tomorrow. I asked what time does she work. When one gets back she tells me 7 to 4. I say I work 6 to 6 at hospital for the next three days.. It will cost me an hour's pay to come see about a twenty dollar phone. I am not happy at all... Everyone is not a crook and I am not happy with this idea, policy, or law. It needs to be a sign put up saying our policy is that "no phone refunds or exchanges unless manager is at store" so customers are not inconvenienced. I could have brought the same phone at walmart and took it back with no problem. We don't have banking hours. If that is a policy I feel that the managers should have to stay for the doctors and nurse's who don't have bankers hours.
store conditions
Everytime I go in store 00920, Oceana WV, it is a disaster. There are carts full of merchandise blocking the aisles, everywhere. You have to move carts to get sown the aisles or to look for products on shelf. I have severe anxiety every time I visit this store. I drove 40 minutes out of my way to avoid shopping here and going to another store. Also, at checkout there is always a 10 minute wait. There are always ppl lined up to check out. Please address these issues. Thank you
manager at store #11292
Last night I went to the Doller General in Coker, Alabama in which I go to several times per week. Last night I went there for some soft drinks, a phone charger and some lollipops for my 12 yr old daughter. I walked in and got a buggy and went to the back right corner of the store where the soft drinks are located. I put some diet Mt. Dew's in my buggy along with a few Dr. Pepper. At the time the power to the store went out as there was a rain storm with high winds outside. At that time I pulled out my cell phone and turned on the flashlight feature so I could see to walk. I was then met by your store manager who's name is Anita I think. She has short brownish/red hair talks very loud and is rude to her Co-Workers. At this point she didn't say anything to me. I continued to walk up front to the cash registers area where I along with another couple for several minutes. I thought while I was right there at the phone chargers I would look for the one I needed since that was on my list for why I was there in the first place. I still had on the flashlight feature on my cell phone and walked about 5 feet to the cell phone charger display and found the one I needed and walked back and put it in my buggy. I stood at my buggy for about 10 more minutes and then walked over to the lollipops. Which is in the candy section at the front of the store by the cash registers and your "manager" is standing guard at the front door and is literally about 7 feet from me. The basket of lollipops are on the top of the display and have a sign that reads 3 for $1.00. So I get a blue, a green and a pink one. I could see the colors because I have my flashlight on remember. I start walking back to my buggy and your "manager" say's. "sir you need to come to the front of the store" in a smart [censor] tone! To which I replied "I am at the front of the store". She then stated it was for my "safety". Which I'm sure is a blanket reply for "so I can see you". I then said " lady I'm 15 feet away from you, ain't none trying to steal these .33 cent lollipops". I then asked her if she wanted all of us to go sit in our vehicles? She replied with another smart [censor] tone "y'all can if y'all want to"! Another 5-10 mins went by and the burglar alarm started going off in the store. Anita responds "I don't know why it's going off, I haven't even turned it on"? I said, "it probably thinks I was trying to steal those .33 cent lollipops like you"! She didn't reply. After a few more minutes went by Anita spoke up and said we all could leave if we wanted to because she did t know when the power was going to come back on. To which we all left and didn't buy anything. I'm telling you this to say. I've never in my life been accused of stealing anything. Not a single thing. If I had any intentions of breaking the law I most certainly would not have worn a t-shirt with the local fire department logo on it for which I work and have for over 20 years. Your "manager" Anita, and I use the word manager very loosely. Is a perfect example of what not to hire as a employee much less be in a supervisor position. She wants everyone in the store to know she's in charge. She is very rude to customers as well as the other employees that are under her authority. During other shopping trips I have witnessed her ordering her Co-workers that they need to go put back the returns and go do this and go do that. All the while the Co-worker is ringing up my purchases. Absolutely ridiculous behavior for a so called "manager". Anita is in no way shape or form manager material and is tottering on the edge of not even being hireable material. The Coker, Alabama store does stay busy because nothing else is out here. But everyone hates going in there because of Anita. She is rude and give Doller General a bad name!
left alone in store while employees smoke
As soon as you entered the store it was overwhelming. After not being greeted, I shopped went to cash out. There was no one around. I was left completely alone in the store. I waited and looked all around thinking maybe an employee was stocking the shelves or was in the office. that's when I noticed both employees outside right in front of the door smoking. I stood and waited and stared to get their attention. Finally a woman "Amy" as she wrote on my receipt.. came in. She said "sorry, he made me do it" and then laughed. I didn't laugh. I didn't smile. This was not funny to me. I don't come to a store to wait around for the employees to finish their smoke break. Is it customary for dollar general employees to take smoke breaks at the same time, and is it allowed, to take it directly in front the store where customers walk in.. through the cloud of smoke? I now know when I entered the store it stunk so much of smoke.. because I'm sure this wasn't the first time they were outside doing this.
customer service
I had gone into the Dollar General up here in Flagstaff, AZ on Friday 11/17. The address is 1300 S Plaza way.
I have never been appalled by the state of a store as I was on this day.
first off, there were boxes, unopened throughout the store haphazardly on the floor. HUGE safety issue!
I finally found what I was looking for and stood in line for approximately 10 minutes to check out. The one and only cashier called for back up with NO ONE coming to her rescue! FINALLY, after about 5 minutes someone actually ran through the front door to the back(to clock in?) and he got on a register. Mind you, all i wanted to buy was a new toothbrush. 3p.m. on a Friday afternoon is NOT the time to have one or two people working. They need a couple of more.
I have been in management for more than 30 years and if i EVER ran my area like this i would surely be fired. This is why I would NEVER go back there.
coupon and shopping
Okay I went to go shop at night at Dollar General at Zapata Highway in Laredo Texas and had a bad experience with purchasing. I had everything correct with my coupons and the cashier decided to lecture me in how my coupons are suppose to be used and how they are suppose to be used. She told me that I could only use one coupon per transaction that i couldnt use multiple coupons. The coupon clearly says "One Coupon Per Purchase" which means one one per item and i used it exactly how it states. She went ahead and told me she couldnt accept them unless i only use one that I was wrong in whst the coupon said. So i left everything i got and left. They really need to be alot nicer and more cooperating because i showed her everything in using coupons and still didnt comply with the information provided. I would like for this to be addressed to them before you all start loosing more customers because of them. Thank You!
dupo il store management
This store is ridiculous, half the aisles are completely blocked with pallets of unpacked merchandise so you can't even access them and all of the shelves are bare on a daily basis, something needs to be done with this store. This has been this way for months and seems to get worse every time I try to shop there. I have attached pictures to prove it. Horrible management!
cashier was extremely rude and unprofessional!!
I spend on average 100.00 to 200.00 dollars a month at the dollar general (I live in a rural area). I purchase several grocery items and most of my household supplies there! That will be changing after my humiliating experience at your dollar general in Hamilton, ga on 11/16/17. In June my son was diagnosed with a rare and potentially fatal bone infection (osteomyelitis) that required a month long hospitalization in Orlando Florida. We didn't know if he would recover much less be able to play sports but he was chosen to play on our city's all-star football team! It requires us to commute 20 minutes to his practice field and we needed to stop at a store to get cash back to purchase his jersey (money was due that day) so we stopped at this dollar general and I got in line to make a purchase (a black and mild cigar for my husband) i waited there for 15 minutes behind four people as she struggled to get the register working properly (she had to get help from another cashier ) when asked if she had the cigar she bluntly says "no ma'am we don't " the other cashier says" wait I'll look for you I think I seen some " she looks around for me then apologizes for not having them ..I said it's no problem and asked if I could get cash back if I purchased something else. The rude cashier with the pink hair and pink eyebrows smirks and says "yeah" I said" okay well is there a minimum purchase requirement in order to get cash back ?" Being that im still in line and didn't want to leave the register I go to grab a hand sanitizer or lighter off the rack next to the cash register and she abruptly says " yeah but you gotta get to the back of the line " dumbfounded because I haven't finished my transaction I asked" why ?" and she smacks her lips and says "because you got folks behind you " I said okay but im right here I haven't left I'm still in line trying to complete my transaction " she responded "okay and ? You have a nice day!" It took every ounce of me not to cry! I've had so much going on and she was so rude I felt like the size of ant when I left out of there ! My son was late for practice and my whole night was ruined ! I'll never be back again!
they falsely id me on camera sent sheriff's to my home authorities false id
I am a disabled individual receive SSI I got a text from my neighbor saying that the manager was sending two sheriff's to my home I have no criminal back ground never been in trouble. They had forgotten my name by time they got here ask for Linda not Lisa they just walked in my house started search. Not knowing I have panic attacks with phobia big difference, manic depression, paranoia. I emailed the dollar general she said she would investigate she was to busy trying put blame on officer. That a different party I dealing with them separate. I have one witness still working at store she never investigated. I wrote a demand letter to keep from going to court I asked for $900.00. For humiliated my name in front of customers, to this day I am paranoia to get out any store. I went into deep depression paranoia anxiety was and is bad. I didn't sleep for days.and all this bothered the cronic pain I have. I know Dollar general is not supposed to do things that way they did me horrible. And they knew me by first name that why the only worker left went to store and look at camera knew it was not me.Dollar General has me sending other people in store.present. I would like someone investigate the lady I never heard back from and I file this last complaint. And I will get legal aid by disability advocate I sent two photos showing I'm Disabled medical record shows I have agoraphobia panic disorder episode s of anxiety.
The sheriffs would not have been legally allowed to enter your home unless you permitted it or they had a warrant. Did they give you a reason as to why they wanted to search your property? Do you have proof it had anything to do with Dollar General? You may want to be careful with your $900.00 "demand letter, " as some may interpret that as a form of extortion.
employees soliciting
It is embarrassing for a customer to be continuously verbally solicited for charity purposes at the check out counter. I don't know if you people have made it a company policy to have the employee to do this in order for the customer to be forced to buy an item from your store but that is the way it seems and it is irritating to the point that i don't want to visit this store again. It would be better to place a sign for the customer to read and make the decision for themselves. I certainly don't mind giving for toys for tots but on my own terms and time...absolutely not if i am insulted or made to feel guilty if i don't. Don't have names and didn't ask but i am sure if this is a company policy then you are the one's that have put your employee on the spot and this needs to change. People don't want to be harassed into buying something.
It is extremely likely that this is a policy set by management. Do you have any examples of how they are harassing, guilting, or insulting you when you do not donate?
Yes, they seem to think the toy I bought was too cheap so the next day they tried to push a higher priced toy at me to buy.. I don't think they should pick the toy they think a person should have to pay for.
Did they say something specific?
Just that they threw items on the counter and ask did i want to buy one of them and it only cost x amount of dollars. I stopped at other $ stores that had the toys for tots and they didn't do that, we had the choice of picking what we wanted to put in it without any comment from the cashier. Most of the time i go to there with just the amount of money for the item i am intending to buy and it's embarrassing for them to put me on the spot when i may not have the money they are asking for the item and even if i did, they should not do this and as i said it should not be a company policy. This is just a harassing way for the store to get praise for the charity and make more money from the customers.
customer service - unethical behavior
Went to your dollar general at 2106 Union Blvd allentown pa; around 9pm as while shopping some of the lights turned off. cashier stated they were closing. Well on the door it stated closed at 10pm.
People were trying to come in and shop they had door locked and not letting them in. it was only 9:30 pm.
was rushing and also locked the door so therefore lock inside which i know it not acceptable.
also was shopping for you penny sales and 90% off items and she was refusing to sell them stating they were not to be on the floor for sale.
I think this was very unprofessional and unethical.
would like to be have a resolution or compensated for the all the issues and the rudeness of these workers at this location.
this is not the first time as i have seen them talking rude to the customers on occasion. will not be shopping there no more after this incident.
You should call the store manager or corporate customer service directly with your feedback. This way they can make sure that proper policies are being followed. You are in no way entitled to compensation however.
