holiday pay and thanksgiving hours
I would like to complain that your making your employees work a regular business day and not giving them holiday pay on thanksgiving or Christmas Eve. We have family too if your to good to be in the office on those days than why are we not good enough to be with ours. Dollar general is a selfish company who does not think about their employees. I would never recommend anyone to come to this company.
sheela. "district manager" derby, ks
I overheard a district manager talking to an employee in a store. She was extremely inappropriate. The employee has always been kind and helpful. She was asking him questions that (as a retail manager myself) are inappropriate if ILLEGAL at best. (Beliefs, lifestyle, family, etc.) I was shocked. This is NOT how a leader acts. As a leader, you should coach and inspire your team. This "leader" (Sheela) was demeaning, rude, inappropriate, and unprofessional. I hope I never shop there on a day that she is there again. I felt bad for the employees.
a dollar general worker
Me and another lady had been standing in line for over 10 minutes. Only One register was open. Finally that guy called for help to open another register. A guy named Donny finally came to front. He told me and the lady that had been waiting forever that we weren't in the proper place beside the line forms here sign and told is to go to the end of the line. Luckily, the other people in line knew that we had been standing there first and allowed us to go ahead instead of all the way to the back. DONNY is the rudest person that I have ever encountered at a dollar general store. He continued being disrespectful and rude and it was apparent he was just upset about being called to open a register. Something needs to be done about DONNY! There was no call for his behavior!
your truck drivers
You had a truck driver here in Ada Oklahoma today around noon blow a red light... The lights turned green for traffic to start when he went through the intersection and then kept speeding away on highway 1 East bound..Didn't get the truck number but got the trailer number 32194... You really need to put numbers to call on the trailers ... Hey we are all in a hurry but not that big of hurry to die !
You should consider calling Dollar General's corporate customer service as they most likely will not see your complaint here. Hopefully they're able to locate the driver.
management
Hi my name us Quanesha and i never do complaints but i felt it very necessary to inform you all on they type of management you have running yours store. You employee Jess was a super star in thee situation at hand as well. Your manager's Ruby and Mark (im not 100% on his name). They are the managers at the center in the sahara center in las vegas nv on sahara and decatur... They were very rude and did not attend to not one customer who came to them instead they keep sending them to the one cashier jess who had a line of about five. I asked the managers to help her clear the line they basically said she got it and continued to both work on one pog together instead of helping customers. While jess helped and greeted everyone in the store while they said nothing (standing by the door). I dont get why they wouldn't come over and help and made it obvious that they didn't want to. Dont get me wrong i understand floor plans have to be changed and the store needs to be up to par BUT customers come FIRST and when you have one employee on the counter with a line you kill they line then get back to what you need to be doing. I was very disappointed as where many other customers. We all spoke about it and could clearly see the problem. Jess was amazing and kept apologizing for the wait and thanking us for our patients . Maybe she should be running this location.
employee
On 11/12/17 around 6:00 pm I went to the Dollar General Market in Shelbyville, TN. While shopping I encountered an employee twice. She was stocking shelves near the back of the store. I left my cart to the side of the back aisle but made sure that it was not blocking. I went up an aisle and when I came around the corner to my cart this employee shoved the cart at me and appeared hostile. I continues to shop and as I neared the front this same employee looked at me and kicked a display box out towards me as I passed. I had to maneuver around it. She still seemed very hostile. I have only been in this store twice before in the last year. I live out of town very seldom come to shop at this location. I won't be back to this one. I asked her name and another employee said her name was Dottie.
severely unorganized
We use the DG in Alturas, CA all the time and we have noticed a change in management and the store is a mess. Nothing is organized items are spread all over and thrown on the floor. It's like no one ever cleans or organizes the products. The store just looks messy and trashy. I love dollar general and love what they provide but it looks like anyone who works there doesn't care
employees attitude
On 11/12/2017 I came to the store on Anderson RD and 149 its a neighborhood store around 730 pm I came in and bought some things so situation was allright then. when I got home I noticed that a key was missing and went back to the store to ask if somone found or turned it in . So entering the store I was greated by a store associate and asked if the had seen or has any one turned in a key Brittany started to laugh and called me a dork as I explained she begain to laugh at me again and call me names and laughing so I went around to looking on the floor the other associate knew any thing about my lost key and she exclaimed again that's what they are? Man she meant me so rude implying that all men are dorks and walk around with the hardness . Then I left the store. Very unhappy .
service i’m complaining about
The dollar general on 1193 Hwy 42 in petal ms is the worst dollar general i have ever been to. Saturday Nov 11 to get toilet paper and i had a coupon from my local newspaper i was going to use. Well i went into this dollar general and the manager Sabrina was ringing me up so i handed her my manufacturers coupon and she tells me if the app on her cell phone don't take it then she can't except it, so she starts downloading a app on her phone, the line was extremely long. So I'm like when does employers get to use there personnel cell phones to check things like that. So she goes on to download the app and then she says your commiting fraud with your coupons and I'm like how is that possible. Yes have never been more humiliated in my life and when i told her i was going to call corporate she laughs and says good luck. I will never go back to this dollar general ever again i will rather go to my local wal mart instead of dealing with somebody like her ever again. None of my hard will ever go to that store.
store, manager and employees
This Store is filthy! A mess! People have said that they will quit going it is so filthy! Every isle has boxes and boxes of stuff. Some times you go in and lights up front part of store are off; Many, many times there is not an employee in sight! I have been in line with three people when there was not an employee in sight. I went to look for one to check us out and found one at back of store just to be informed they were "on break", rather than looking for someone stays yelling a name, I told her nevermind I was leaving and left my buggy there. It has recently changed managers and it has become so bad in just a few weeks, it is unimaginable! If this store's sales drop, it's because the place if filthy dirty (even floors look like not swept in weeks), and you can't even get down an isle to shop, and there is no employees around. Surprised not shoplifted out of business. And if there is an employee, they appear to be high, and sometimes just downright stupid! If I knew who owned this store, I would contact them personally to just ride to the store unannounced and see for themselves. We need this store but I won't be back until it is cleaned up, it's been here years and never been like this, not even close to how it is now.
product availability
I have called every Dollar General within a 30mile radius of my home to locate an item in one of your ads and NO ONE has it! I even looked to order it online, typed in the exact name of the product, as listed in the ad, nothing! So I'm wondering, did Dollar General false advertise an item or is this something corporate can send me? The item is the Baby Explorer Table.
Every store I called said, "They hadn't received that item" and/or "Not every store gets what is in the ads" So thanks for the assumption.
Each state has certain consumer protection laws which protect against 'bait and switch' advertising. I can't begin to tell you what your state offers, but you may want to look into it. Generally speaking, when you really know the protection your state provides, you're better able to insure you get what is advertised.
all coupon policies
I am very disappointed in this store rules on coupons...I use a lot of coupons and I have been noticing that this store employees make they're own rules on Wether they take them or they dont...
I went to three different dollar general stores and omg...the employees, the managers attitude towards taking coupons is horrible...they made me feel like if I was robbing the store...I would love to get the coupon policy...and the employee and managers should be better educated.
management
So me and my husband get here herrassed every time we go in this store I have brought it to the Dm's attention to no avail so my husband goes in with his gift card that was given as a gift, they tell him it is invalid he shows the reciept which was given with his gift card and they would not honor his purchase I then call the store to explain to them that the purchase we made with same gift card gave no problems h the manager Paul at that point states we shouldn't come back to shop at their store, I said wow that's how you treat your customers I then ask if he could have his Dm contact me he then hung up on me, so about 30 minutes later he calls my phone and tells me that me and my husband are banned from that store, no reason and then I believe that is still a form of herrassment calling my phone back, I think that this type of treatment from a not only an employee but a manager is very unsatisfactory, and the proper thing would be that an upper management contact the customer to find out not just the side of the manager but the side of the customer, which is the proper thing so if anyone Mr Dreiling the CEO or any other management could contact me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, a concerned customer
district manager
The district manager Donna Evans is very hostile with employees. She tries to make them look like they can't do there job. She rewards the employees that slack off there job and is rude to the ones that work hard for the company. I feel like she should be in questioned on job skills. Mrs. Evans over looks some of the good employees. She tries to make one person do a lot of things at one time. She doesn't consider the time to do the tasks.
dog shampoo
My name is Steven Johnson. I purchased a 3.00 dollar dog shampoo about 3 weeks ago at DG in Belmont Ms. I live in the country
And was on my way home passing thru
Burnsville Ms. Stopped by DG there . The shampoo did not work so I returned the unused portion and receipt and ask for a refund. The clerk refused a refund and said I would have to carry it back to Belmont Ms DG. I said that is not DG policy. She said I will call my manager and very quickly the police arrived I was shocked I said you called the POLICE? I Was humiliated to be retained and interrogated for over 1 hour for trying to return a 3.00 dollar bottle of dog shampoo.
If the police detained and interrogated you, then there must be more to the situation than you are sharing. Either way, most stores wouldn't accept a return to the wrong location for a partially used product.
You know when you return an item, that makes you the store and the manager the customer because they're buying from you. That means they can be equally as abrasive to you as you are to them legally. Grow up and get over it.
on sale but sold out @ prospect rd-peoria, il
So I tried to buy the 12 ounce bag of McDonald's coffee that was on sale for $5.95 only to find out they were all out. I approached the "store manager" and asked about it and she preceded to argue with me and tell me that it was only for the K-cups. There were no tags under the planogram price for the on sale 12 ounce bag but the K-Cups had a sale price. So I was able to grab a DG flier and sure enough showed the store manager that in the print it was 12 ounce bag and they showed a pic of the bag in the ad. I did not get an apology or anything. I then preceded to ask about a rain check or a back-up item (replacement) and she said we don't do that, never have. I informed her that I have been working in customer service and retail for years, even working for CVS and for Dollar General to NOT go above and beyond for the customer is very disturbing. Usually if something is out of stock on a sale item, you can substitute or offer rain check. This store manager wasn't having it. I will not be back at the Prospect Rd in Peoria, IL location. I will be forwarding my complaint to either the district manager and/or Corp office.
Dollar General ads do say that the sales advertised are subject to change based on location, stock, etc. They aren't required to offer alternatives when the product runs out.
The manager is right. Dollar General doesn't do rain checks or substitute for sold out ad items. Should've shopped earlier.
embarrassing customer service
On November 4, 2017 I entered the Pea Ridge Road, Eatonton, Georgia location # 17670 for some shopping. I've never had any issues of any kind at this store and it's wonderful that it was built here in the middle of farm land.
I gathered about 20 items and headed for check out. There was one woman at the cash register, Bernadette.
A woman and her two adult children was trying to check out. The purchase amount was approximately 4.50. Her card would not go through after several attempts. I stepped up and asked the cashier to clear it out and I'll put my card in for her. She did so and it didn't go through. I asked her to reset it again, all along conversing with the customer about whether or not she used her pin or credit. At the third attempt the transaction went through. I asked her adult daughter to step to the other side of me so I could unload my buggy while we were waiting for the transaction to complete.
By this time several people were in line, approximately 5 or 6 more. Everyone was pleasantly waiting watching us because it's not every day you see someone step up and buy someone's items for them when they are a stranger.
When I asked the young lady to step over so I could unload my buggy the cashier loudly stated I couldn't push her out of the way. I was startled and asked her what she was talking about?
'You can't jump in front of her!" she stated very loudly.
Everyone stopped and started staring at us. I asked the cashier if she understood what was taking place that I was helping the other customer by paying for her transaction. She did not respond back.
I told her she could just take a breath that no one was upset about the machine not working. She still didn't respond. She aggressively started scanning the items and throwing them in the bags. I asked her if she was ok and she still didn't answer.
I honestly do not remember what I asked her next maybe something like 'why are you not talking to me?' but I know she barked back something at me that caused me to respond with 'you don't have to talk to me like I'm an animal. I was being nice.' She yelled 'well you're acting like an animal!'
I was shocked and the entire line of people stood in shock with their mouths open.
I told her to stop. That I was done and she could put my items back. She continued to yell at me and I walked toward the door still listening to her. I turned and asked her what her name was? She grabbed her name tag and shoved it toward me yelling 'Bernadette, Bernadette!'
At this point I became very angry and for the first time in my life cussed at someone in a store. I told her she was being a [censor] and there was no reason for it. I have no idea what she was yelling back at me because I left the store. The mother and her adult kids were waiting for me outside stunned at what had just happened. This was completely unnecessary. She should have been grateful that I paid for her customer and stopped the embarrassment so she could wait on the rest of her customers.
The other staff members at this store are awesome and very friendly. This member however appears to be a ticking time bomb.
did not receive products-no way to contact them
I visited store 19099. I purchased several items and three packages of sponges at 3.50 each. I did not receive them in my shopping bags. I cannot call the store because the number listed on receipt is [protected].
I am entitled tobe reimbursed for my merchandise. I am sending a picture of the receipt. I would appreciate hearing back from corporate offices. Thank you.
If you leave something at the store you can go back with your reciept, talk to a manager and they will more than likely verify on camera that you left them in the store then allow you to get the product or if they are out of it give you a refund.
Its not the stores fault. It's your job to make sure you have all your bags before you leave the store.
On their website you can find contact information so that you may give them a call for assistance.
using coupons in your stores
I shop in your store several times a week. Today (Thursday 11/10/17) I was in store #15011 in Macclenny Florida on SR 121. I was buying Gain washing soap that was on sale. I had coupons for the items I was getting. Jennifer who was the cashier (very rude and nasty) told me I can only use 1 coupon per visit. It didn't say on the coupon 1 per person or per visit. I was also going to use the digital phone coupons. Jennifer totaled my items and then told me she couldn't use the digital coupons because she had already totaled the purchase. If I wanted to do so she would have to redo everything. I was already in the line for 20 minutes at this time just with her complaining about the coupons I had. These are manufacture coupons the store will get there money back for them. If this is the way they are going to do customer I will not shop in Dollar General again. And will make sure I tell everyone I know how they treat their customers. There is no reason for them to be so nasty and yell at me over a $2.00 coupons. I was also at store #01421 in Macclenny Florida on 6th Street and had no problems at all. If one store can and will take the coupons why don"t all of them? The only reason I went to the other store was because the 6th store didn't have everything I needed. But if this is the way your employees are going to be I will never shop at this store again.
As stated above all coupons state limits, especially Gain/Tide ect..and Paper Manufacturer coupons CANNOT be stacked with digital ones through the DG app.
Now granted the cashier could have hit CLEAR and let you put in your digitals then re totaled your order BUT it is curtious to tell your cashier that you have paper and digitals at the begining of your transactions. Not only does it help make the transaction smoother but as stated above many stores do have out of date equipment that are slow ect.
Sometimes policies can vary from location to location. If you still have your receipt and coupons, you could try calling the store to see if they'll still refund you.
i'm am complaining about being wrongfully terminated as well as discrimination from district manager and store manager
I work for this company for almost 3 month when I first started I put my two weeks notice in at my other job then started receiving less and less hours because of store budget on hours for employees I went out to another store that had open hours I was only supposed to work there for a day the the district manager came in and asked me to stay there for the remainder of the week cause corporate was coming in and there would be inventory at the store on old national was needed back at my store 08143 because they had almost 50 rolltainers still in the stock room so I reported back to my store after being back at 08143 for almost 2 more weeks district manager (Gabriel) called me on my off day n asked me to go to Lakewood Ave. location to help put shelving lables and pegs up in new store after I spoke with him about what time should I come tomorrow he said he needed help at Washington Rd for a full week then when Lakewood open I would be at that store permanently while still at Washington Rd the store got robbed I told the manager I didn't want to work at that store because of being robbed prior to the incident (also I had a prior incident with manger were I called off and her daughter had to walk home from school so she was already mad at me for that) I took the remainder of the week off and told her I would come back to work that Saturday she told me she didn't have hours so I was off for a week I contacted her (keshawnaka) and was still off another week another she called me Monday and said I needed to work Tuesday then go to take a escreen but after I work and help her get her truck out went to take the exam still confused about why I am being required to take a escreen for a company that is "pre employment/post accident exam" I called corporate to figure out why upon doing so I was asked for personal information so I went into the rest room to give the information when I exited the rest room the doctor said the exam had been cancelled and I would have to contact employers to receive another one wasn't contacted for almost a week another store needed help on metropolitan I worked there for almost a week when the district manager came in and terminated me I asked him why and he said he didn't want to talk I clocked out asked him for he number he stated"you been calling them all this time you know the number"I said I don't have it saved in my phone he gave me the wrong number so I asked the store manager when I was outside talking to ERC the manager came out and said he told that the district manager Gabriel if I get everything straight he would take me at his store and he thought I was a good worker Gabriel went on to ask him was he sure he wanted me to work for him cause I had problems at 2other stores and that's why he got rid of me after talking to a few of my coworkers I found out that the store manager on Washington Rd was the one whom told the district manager to give me a exam he asked her why she said she thought I was on drugs another employee asked why do she have a bad attitude do she be drunk do she be smelling like drugs and she said no so why are you making her do the exam and she stated that I don't want to work there anymore anyway so why waste time

I think it's nonsense that employees get holiday pay for Easter, Christmas eve and Thanksgiving but don't recieve it for the 4th of July.
Last I checked that is a national holiday!
