KIA Motors Paint flaking off

2017 Pearl White Kia Sorrento. Great vehicle but white paint is bubbling up and flaking off. Multiple places of hood and aside of windshield. Dealership declined to help saying paint warranty is 36 months. Paint is not fading. It is flaking off. An obvious factory defect. This is our second Kia because we held first one for 11 years and we’re very happy and that paint was fine. Probably the last one if they can’t stand behind this. Saw many other complaints from other white Pearl owners from 2017.

Desired outcome: Repaint an otherwise great vehicle

KIA Motors ABS Failure

I received call from KIA dealership 2022 in home country, saying that I need to change ABS module but due to the ABS failure in 2018 unfortunately the car caught on fire, When I asked who was to blame, the caller remained silent, presuming that the car had nothing to be fixed and that everything appeared to be in order. This incident occurred in the garage, where the car was driven and parked at 9:00pm as usual. Then 2 hours later, at 11:30 o'clock, when everyone in the house was asleep, the car randomly caught on fire. The reports to police will be attached.

got call from kia dealership 2022 at home country ,saying that need to change ABS module unfortunately the car currently was fired due to failure ABS 2018 , so i ask for the responsible for this , the caller just silent on , my question is it really kia just not take the responsibility all this ,

KIA Motors 2021 KIA Forte EX

I have a KIA Forte Ex-Took car in for service March 16, 2022, and to report a noise in steering wheel when turning. A bearing kit was ordered. Waited for that to come in, then it was noted that a special tool was needed to work on steering wheel. That was supposed to have been ordered.

Fast forward today (9/7/22), no phone call, update or anything been done.

Have called the Mgr, left a message on 8/31, called service part dept on same day, and lastly call today, spoke to Patricia who in turn was going to pass message to Tom Marino ( service dept mgr), all to no avail.

I’m still driving with the squeaky steering wheel.

Please advise.

KIA Motors My 2022 kia sorento

My Kia Sorrento has had 3 different times where it has shut down on me while driving. I will be driving at the suggested speed limit or a little above and without any kind of warning all the light warning lights on the dash will start flashing and the car will just shut down on me. The RPMS will still be going up but the car will not go about 40mph. Twice it has almost caused me to be ran over. Once while entering the instate and the second while driving on the interstate in the fast lane. I have to get to the shoulder of the highway, turn the car off and then restart it. Once I do that it will be fine. I took the car back to my dealer the first part of August and they called me to tell me that the issue had been resolved and my car was fixed. They stated they just had to realign the front camera. It was fine for about 3 weeks and then it messed up again almost causing me to be ran over by and 18 wheeler. So clearly it was not fixed and clearly they do not know what is causing it to do this. The car is only 6 months old, has around 18,000 miles on it. It has never been involved in any kind of crash or accident. I can not afford to just go and buy another vehicle because the trade value on this one is not high enough to absorb the negative equity. I would really appreciate your help getting this issue resolved. I know that even if they say the car is "fixed" I will still be scared to drive it because I was told that before and it clearly was not. I am very concerned that next time I won't be able to get to the shoulder and out of the way of traffic without being ran over and seriously injured or killed. I have 3 children as well and I feel it is not safe for them to travel with me in this vehicle.

Desired outcome: A vehicle of equal or greater value and no change in my monthly payment. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I do not feel I should have to continue to pay for it.

KIA Motors 2015 kia sorento

When I purchased this vehicle a few years ago in duluth mn I went to pick it up around closing time and I had gotten into the vehicle and mind you it was pretty cold outside. I have never had a push button start before, so as I was sitting in the vehicle waiting for the windows to thaw out the staff was leaving to go home. Well I had called some friends to say what am I doing wrong? It was still cold in the car. Well to find out it was never started. So I called my sales guy on his cell phone. Answering machine. Kept calling and calling my phone was about to die and I was freezing. After an hr later he called and a person came out. The battery was dead. So im like you keep this here im taking my home. So after a few months I was still have trouble with it. Apparently I got a bad battery. So I may have had the vehicle a year or so maybe less and the engine is shot. I brought it to kia and they told me I needed to pay for a new engine. Not happening! So kia had it in there parking lot for about a year and just a month ago they had it towed. Well im not paying credit acceptance on this loan and will have to file bankruptcy because of them. I probably owe about 24,000. Didnt have it very long either. Everyone has the same engine problem with this vehicle and it should be recalled and they should of taken it back and paid it off

KIA Motors Need a service car

To whom it may concern, my son owns a Kia Optima from Crain Kia 810 S Amity Rd. Conway Arkansas. He was told to bring his car in for a Oil Test, which they did perform, only thing the Service Manager Johhny Henson put one gallon of oil in the car, which caused it to run poorly. Today 8/31/22 my son took the car back to them to let them know his car was not running good. They ran a check on the car again and found out it had a gallon of oil in it. They also told him that they may have to put a new engine in the car after they run another check. The engine is still under warranty. Only problem is they kept the car and did not give him a service car and he works everyday. They told him they did not have a rental car. He didn't want a rental car since this was their fault for putting the gallon of oil in his car, they should have given him some kind of car to get back and forth to work.

Desired outcome: Would like a car to get back and forth to work.

KIA Motors Telluride catching on fire, no notification from KIA, no recall

I found out thru the news media that my new 2022 Telluride has an issue with the trailer hitch electronics. When I went to my dealer, Carriage of Woodstock, GA they had no clue about it, so I informed them. The next day they call and acknowledge the future issue of the car catching fire and burning the car and garage, their interim solution is to park the car outside. So, I can still have my car burn plus damage from the elements, stolen, broken into, and generally just ignored while Kia comes up with a better fix. This is not acceptable. Hyundia with the same problem has at least an interim fix. I should have bought a theirs. I filed a complaint at Irvine and got a case number and someone was to call me in a few days...that was a week ago. So far the communication from Kia, the dealership and KIA of America has been dismal. Who can I contact to get some answers.

KIA Motors Warranties

Kia won' service my Mitsubishi Outlander, I purchased Warranty through Kia and they are not allowed to service the vehicle, which means that the warranty is voided but I am still paying for the warranty in my bill of sale, I tried to call them to get a answer but they haven't call me back as of yet to resolve this the Vehicle was purchased 9/25/2021, what am I to do

KIA Motors A complaint against Kimberly in the escalation dept.

On May 24, 2022 my engine light come on. I got my car to Dean McCreary Kia in Mobile, Alabama. After having it for over two weeks they found out that Cylinder #2 were not working and told me I needed a motor that would cost $8200. Being dissatisfied of what I heard and were going to get legal advice. The customer care employee gave me Kia Corp number to file a complaint. My case manger were name Trinity she offered me and signed me up with the Goodwill program. For 4 months I have called over 30 times trying to get results about my car. No one would email or return my calls. Finally my case were sent to the Escalation Department were nasty attitude Kimberly were my case manger. I spoke with her after calling numerous times but all at once when calling in and got Trinity on the phone she sent Kimberly an email. She immediately called back telling she would look into why the department who makes the decision about approving the Goodwill she would call me back. She never did. On August 28, 2022 I call customer care again. Twice in one week. The young lady tells me my case has not been updated. She update, send Kimberly an email and give me her office number and tell me to call and leave a voicemail because she doesn’t come in until 11am. I called left a voicemail. She didn’t return my call until the next day August 29,2023 to tell me my car doesn’t not have a warranty, it have so many miles, we got the car fax, and you have an old car. I tell her the dealer told me the warranty that is on my car doesn’t cover my Cylinder so what was the purpose of offer me Godwill and it took you all four months to tell me you couldn’t help me. What is the purpose of the Goodwill. I told her I thought that it was a program to help people get their car fix. She continues to tell me she was sorry but we can’t help you. I’m calling my attorney and filing a claim with BBB because it’s misleading thinking and hoping for four months without a car that it was going to be fixed. My car was parked at the dealership all this time for nothing. I also mention that I knew of at least three other people who has had this problem with Kia motors. So it seem like it’s a major problem with Kia motor. My car didn’t not fall under the class action lawsuit according to Kimberly. This has been like living I. hell these past four months. I’m not stopping until something is done.

I reached out to Kia on August 30, 2022 concerning an explanation as to why they denied me their Goodwill Program which were offered to me by a case manager to fix my engine. I have not heard from them yet. They will not email or return calls. My engine light came on without warning on May 9, 2022 and out of the four months I’ve only spoke to a case manager twice one who offered the Goodwill and Kimberly case manager in the Escalation Dept who has a nasty attitude. I spoke with her twice. In one occasion she called me back after calling the Kia Consumer Service 30 times or more over a four month period. The other occasions was when I left her a message trying to get an update on this status of what they were going to do. She called me back the every next day to tell me Kia couldn’t fix my car. She had all her negative views about my car. Saying it was old, I did have a warranty which she lied, she did not see a claim with someone offering me the Goodwill Program. Kia, why false advertising that your vehicle have a lifetime warranty? Every time I called a spoke with an agent they told me that my case were not updated. So, I’m trying to figure out who could she determine within a days time that Kia couldn’t fix my car. I think she was biased toward me. I got bad vibes the very first day I spoke with her. Kia need to remove those employees who doesn’t care about the well-being of their customers. It should’ve not taken four months. My 2012 Kia Optima has been sitting at the dealership waiting on an answer. They really don’t care. I have several people who has a failure engine and Kia WILL NOT fix it. I’ll never purchase another Kia. I hope this text help someone because this need to be reported.

KIA Motors 2022 Kia telluride

We have a 2022 Kia telluride is 5,559k miles on it we were traveling on vacation when the car broke down and overheated and the serpentine belt was shredded 500miles away from our home. It has been sitting at the dealership (in a separate state from what we live in) for a month now with nothing done to it because they claim they cannot put and after market belt on the vehicle to at least get us the vehicle home in Illinois which I still have stuff in the car from the vacation because it had to be towed to the nearest dealership. Kia's escalation team is a joke they literally have done nothing I have done more than they have by calling different dealership to see if they have a belt in. Kia has done nothing to help a customer and literally have told me to "O well and just wait the possible 6mths it could take to get their belt in since their refusing to put an aftermarket one on the get the vehicle running" I will be telling everyone to NEVER buy a Kia since this is how they take care of their customer's.

Desired outcome: Needs to be fixed with an aftermarket belt or buy the vehicle back

KIA Motors 2011 Kia Sorento

I am very upset that we bought this used Kia back in October and have not been able to drive it since. It is sitting here and payments are still being made on it. I have had it to the Kia Dealers since March 21, 2022 and the parts department has had to order parts. It has been over 6 months and the parts are still not in. How can it take that long to get parts? I have never heard of it taking this long. I have also tried to call your consumer affairs number and noone ever answers. I tried 3 times in one day and was on the phone for over 45 minutes on hold each time and never did get to talk to anyone. Please help.

Desired outcome: I just want the vehicle fixed so that it is driveable as soon as possible.

KIA Motors Recall on [protected] Kia Occupant Classification Sensor

Kian had a Recall on [protected] Kia Occupant Classification Sensor. My mom has a 2006 Kia so she did not get the repairs done even though her 2006 has the same issue and the same part as the [protected]. I am writing to please grant my mom coverage to make the needed repair to her car. This is not her fault and Kia had a recall. She should be able to have her car fixed and be able to pass her inspection. She is on a fixed income and this extra expense will be a hardship for her.

Desired outcome: My desired income is for the 2006 to be covered under the warranty for the recall and she can go to a Kia dealership and have her expenses for the parts needed and labor to fix the car fixed or reimbursed.

KIA Motors 2018 kia sorento

I financed had this vehicle for last than a year, and already it has been stolen. Due to the manufacturing company and how the model of this car was built it has put me and other customers in financial situation. I was referred by Credit Acceptance and was directed to reach out to you all for further support. This is a total loss not only for me but for my family and kids as well. I am now without a vehicle that not only that I have but because of Kia's shortcomings this vehicle is not drivable and is in badly shape.

I also have a police report another documents to support my claim,

Desired outcome: I will like for Kia to pay off my vehicle payout and show some consideration with supporting me with purchasing something that can't be stolen in a few seconds. This is a huge customer dissatisfier.

KIA Motors Warranty additional added to the price of the car

I contacted kia hollywood via phone a representative. He indicated to me to apply online and i did i was pr-approved by kia motors we went back and forth for the whole day finally the rep. Told he someone else was taken over his name jack, was going to take care of my lease of the car. Originally iwas asking for a lower price car, and i was told by the first salesperson leo that it had to be new car for a lease. Ok so jack continuing with the process. The car was intendted for my son and i asked them to put my son in the deal and they never did, they said no its goign to hurt the great deal you got being approved by kia we work very hard to get you approved, i said ok. When i went to sign the papers i didnt read since i asked the guy, i was exhausted i just had a kong day at work and to please not to add any additionals into the payment since i was trying to help my son with a lower payment in order for him to make it and if he default the payments, i could cover that payment. So, i was never given any papers the financial person his name giancarlo colon, that please not to add any additional services than what the car comes with of course he replies: ...Then he told me that the car wasnt lease...Then that the payments were more...Wow! why would i want to but a 2022 when i originally inquired about it and i was told no the lease has to be 2022, so why was i buying a 2022 then? that was the first thing they deceived me, only because i was a woman, i am 57 years old and i felt very deceived and they fooled, and took advantage by me being along and they were two salespersons and they know want they did, later i received my statement then realized i was approved by Santander bank instead of kia motors so they lied as well. how could i be that stupid? and fooled? i called several times Mr. Love and Mitchel the manager and i got no resolution as of now no payment had been credited to my Santander account for the warranty that was added to my account.

Desired outcome: I WANT TO GET REFUNDED FOR DAMAGES AND INTEREST backdated, and i would like to get approved by kia motors instead for a better interest rate. Since i did applied. And i was approved.

KIA Motors Kia will not perform recalls due on my car

I have complainted serveral times to my dealer about my 2011 kia sorento vin 5xykt4a12dg414217 around 84000 miles 99.9 service at escondido kis, when I go up a long grade it loses power and starts knocking. I go to bishop ca alot 400 mikes to see grandkids have to go up cajon pass freeway 15 have to stay in slow lane, when this happens you can smell oil burning type smell knocking or loud tapping noise from motor, and loses power and surges. Will not go45 mph. Yesterday going to the va hosipital (am 100 per cent disable veteran from viet it nam) I can not afford to break down. And twice let of on gas to get off freeawy I gave it and it surged after a few seconds pluse, scared heck out of me. My other moved to idaho and planning on driving but nervous about all mt grades and downhill. Also was going to give car to grandaughter but afraid. KIA Motors Repair charges

On August 22, 2022I took my car to the Kia Dealership in Carson, CA because my oil pressure warning light in my 2017 Kia Soul had been coming on intermittently. I thought it was covered under warranty, but it turns out that the 5-year warranty ran out in May. From the time they gave me the $540 estimate

It took less than an hour to fix my car and replace the $12 Oil pressure switch. They charged me over $540! After researching this a little further, I realized that the going rate for that job is about $120 and other mechanics confirmed it's literally a 5-minute job.

Desired outcome: Refund me the overcharge of over $400.

KIA Motors Service

The big guy in service is rude. He thinks he knows everything. And he down grade me as a woman. He made me think that I am a STUPID person, but I am not. I broke down on the side of the road. I told Bob at the dealer that my car engine is dead. So, I told him F off Infront of customers because he was a JERK. So, I call all week and he spoke to me and said That your motor is dead. I said to him I know I told you that. I am a nurse and I need a Rental. He spoke to me and said you can't get one. So, I call Kia Consumer Affairs and they said that you can get a rental. So, Bob said that I can call now to get a rental when I went without a car for 5 days now. I will never buy a KIA again

My neighbor is 70yrs old. Owns a 2015 Kia Sorrento, check engine light on, computer system shut down. She relies on GPS everywhere she goes. She was told to go to Woodbridge Kia, they would do a great job.

She was told her engine was blown, so she must buy a new car!

On Social Security (only income) They bullied her for 5 hours. They knew she had trouble driving at night, no dinner, confused about everything they were throwing at her!

She left 8:45pm with a 50 mile drive home. Had no clue how to drive the car. ( several upgrades) They got mad at her when she asked them to program the GPS. Sent her on her way with a $73,000.00 2022 Kia Sorrento. She came over the next day crying, they gave her $1,350.00 for her car and $2,000.00 down. Her payments were $1,100.00 a month. She lives in Va. but she owns a house in Tennessee, which she is moving to. She kept telling them she could not afford the car. “Oh! you can handle it “

She didn’t know what to do, very, very, sad, unknown how she just wanted her car back. Never a problem with her 2015 Kia until the check engine light came on. Then to be “ BULLIED “ by several (5)salesman that night.

Well I know you have a grace period when you purchase a new car and can return it.

That’s exactly what we did, I went with her telling them everything they did to make a sale.

This time I want see the computer print out stating the engine was blown. 1st time was at 10:30am. We found her car in the back with a sticker stating “Do Not Sell” I asked them to return her car and we can call it even, except refunding her $2,000.00. Nope her car was already sold to a wholesale dealer. He is on his way to take her car… 12:45pm I asked again for the diagnostic printout! The rest of our afternoon basically standing, walking asking about different things done to her that was illegal. They all had very different responses. There was a heavy set man sitting at a computer that was calling the shots. But he wouldn’t directly talk to us. That really pixxed me off. It’s after 3:30pm, that’s when the guy behind the counter said just give her car back! Okay y’all get her car up front, and I want those printouts NOW!

What they gave us had a bunch of #’s on it but this different salesman holding the paper flipped it over to see handwriting saying her engine didn’t have a drop of oil in it and we probably won’t make it home. I asked him if they could put oil in it, enough to make it home about 50 miles away.

Yes of course we can do that and he personally said he would pay for it. We arrived home about 8:30pm, exhausted.

She took her car to a local mechanic highly recommended. He read the printouts, stating the engine diagnosis was for another vehicle and her car had 4 quarts of oil over the limit. He said, sounds like they were trying to blow her engine. Also kept a $1,000.00 from her refund in order to detail the new car . Everyone of the salesman should be fired for the Bullying they inflected upon her. I have all of the info to back up everything I have stated. They were very worried about contacting administration.

Which I do believe, Oh I know it’s illegal what they did to her!

I would love to call 7 on your side with this story. She never got any paperwork regarding the loan, amounts of payments etc. ( what?you didn’t get any paperwork?)The charges written up had to pay those salesman’s rent, vacation etc. The car was given to her around the 1st week in July. We returned it on July 14th 2022.

If I don’t get a response I will assume you don’t give a poop either. Washington Post is my friend! This is news on a whole other plain!

KIA Motors Extended warranty - auto

I purchased a 2016 Kia Optima from Cassey Jackson Ford in GA, 11/2021. With the purchase I was offered an extended warranty from Zurick. I purchased the highest option as Kia's are garbage cars, but its what my 16 year old wanted. Immediately we recognized the oil was burning in the car too fast. Took it to Kia and they couldn't diagnose what was wrong. Tried to use the warranty on the struts' and suspension and was told that it wasn't covered.

Daughter was stranded two months later, the engine locked up. Had the vehicle towed to Kia on June 3, 2022. They said they were 3 to 4 weeks behind. I then contacted Zurick to ask if I could get a rental, they said yes as long as the car is in the shop. I purchased a 30 day rental and after the 30 days Kia finally diagnosed my car as engine failure due to the oil pump failing. Kia customer service has been horrible so the back and forth with them and Zurick has been very hard, one blaming the other for the process being halted. I contacted Zurick on 8/19/22 spoke with Leslie and she told me after looking at some confusing notes as she would put it that the last communication was to the Kia Dealership requesting photos and videos of the issue. I stated that how is this possible when Kia is the manufacturer of this vehicle no one else will be a better analysis of this? She then states that it will still have to be approved by their non-Kia expert. She stated that they contacted my service advisor at Kia (Kennedy) and requested the photos and video on 8/12/22 and they are still waiting on these things. I told her I would contact Kia to see what the hold up was. I contacted Kia the next day 8/20/22 and the Service Manager (Ricky) stated that they sent the photos and video in to Zurich (Donna Moore) on 8/12/22 as requested. The Zurick customer service representative I spoke with (Leslie) stated the Zurick offices will be open on 8/20/22 till 5 pm and that I could have Kia call to resolve the issue. I called the Zurick office and they were closed. I keep getting the run-around and it seems that Zurick is the leader in this confusion. They are trying to come up with a reason (customer neglect) to not pay my claim not to mention the rental that I am entitled to. Don't do business with this company. I plan to cancel this policy immediately.

Desired outcome: Pay for the repair of my vehicle which is covered and my rental car.

KIA Motors Speedometer

Easy change but switch speedometer and tachometer position. The current position means you have to look down and to the left for the speedometer. The tach you just look down. The speedometer is used the most and should involve the least eye movement.

A simple computer change but super important for safety and easier for the driver. Somebody didn’t think this out and surprised it passed all inspections before production.

Desired outcome: Change should be able to be done easily.

KIA Motors Frame Corrosion

Original owner of 2013 Kia Sorento with 122,700 miles. Recently informed by Kia dealership (Ourisman Kia, Fairfax VA) that rear frame has severe rust requiring replacement of sub frame, upper and lower control arms, sway bar links, trailing arms and toe adjustment arms. Car has been well maintained and routinely taken in to dealership several times a year for servicing since purchasing new. Rust issue was never noted until now. Car is located in northern Virginia suburbs just outside of Washington DC. Owners are in their seventies and vehicle is not used for commuting, is not driven in snow and ice and has had at best minimal exposure to road salt conditions. Severe corrosion should not have happened to a car of this age and mileage, in this geographic location and under the described conditions of use. Seeking coverage of repairs from Kia.
