black friday service
We went to the Kohl's in Palmdale, Ca this Black Friday morning at 5am. We were finished shopping at 5:30am. Due to bad management resulting in confusing extreme lines, we did not leave the store until 7:30am. Two hours waiting in line! I will not be going back to Kohl's for next years Black Friday sales event. We visited several other stores, JCPenney's, Target, Bath Works, etc. None at the long lines that were so bad at Kohl's.
We should have just turned around and left when we saw so many people not moving in line.
credit card abusive practices
Awful billing practices, awful customer service. Paid my bill on time but the company processed my payment the next day and charged me a $10.00 late fee. Called Customer Service and they agreed to reverse the late fee since I paid it on time. No apology though. On my next bill, minimum payment quadrupled and there was a late fee added for not paying the late fee they agreed to reverse. Several calls to customer service were met with pretty obnoxious attitudes. The last CS rep said they would continue to add late fees to the late fee they were reversing until I paid it. So they were adding late fees to the late fees to the late fees until I paid the money I didn't owe. No one at Kohl's thought this was totally insane. Finally filed a formal complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and am awaiting resolution. BTW I have never missed a payment nor have I ever had a late payment so I'm as far from a deadbeat as you can get. If this is how they treat a good customer, I wonder what they do to people struggling to pay their bills in this economy.
Spend your money with a company that cares for their customers not Kohls.
I'm going to assume that you payed your bill online.
Please be sure you READ what's presented to you.
Paying your bill online means that you're subject to whatever they decide to do. It says on the page that all payments put in after a certain time will be processed the next day. That's likely what happened to you.
They didn't have to reverse the late fee. In fact, the representative probably wasn't allowed to reverse it, and thus it didn't happen. They charged you a late fee on the late fee, because you didn't pay them the money that YOU OWE THEM.
That's your fault. If you don't pay on time, you owe extra money. That's how it is. If you don't pay the extra money, you owe more money on the extra money.
Kohl's didn't do anything wrong. You did.
kohls online
I recently purchased 2 wallets on Kohls.com for my daughter and I. I received 2 packages today one with my wallet the other contained a silver tank top with sequines all over it. I looked at the packing slip and saw it said my daughter pewter wallet. I called the 800 number to let them know the packing slip listed the wallet but was a tank top. I was told in order to get the correct item I needed to do 1 of 2 things. 1 drive to a Kohls, return the tank top, receive a gift card, come home make a new order use the gift card but pay shipping again as it would be a new order. OR I could reorder on the phone again with the customer service charge my credit card again and then when I had time I could go to a Kohls store and return the tank top and get a gift card for later use. NOT! I was unable to get any help even from managers. I just dont understand why I have to run all over town to fix their mistake. This will be the LAST time I use Kohls online or in person. They are very much against good customer service. Most businesses will send you the correct item right away with a return label to send the wrong or damaged item back.

My order that I filled out on line was not working so I called your site. Not only was the site not working but I was speaking to people that had a hard time understanding what I was trying to tell them. I asked where they were located and they said Mexico. Why would Khols outsource their labor to another country leaving their customers to try and get their information to people that have a hard time understanding.
management
Well, I worked at Kohls for almost a year and when It first started my E3 would constanty call me other girls names. I corrected him over and over and over again and this is how the converstaion would go.
"Sarah you need to do this"
"Oh did you want me to do it or did you want me to get Sarah?"
"No you"
"Oh ok because my name is Ashley."
"Ok Sarah..."
And then he would just walk away.
He would also call me random other names and other names of girls that worked there, but only when he didnt approve of something I did he would call me by my name..
When I first started working there I was only trained for the register, and I would start with around 20 hours a week. Then school started and I decided not to go that semester and more people were giving away shifts and I was also trained to do the fitting rooms so I was gettting full time hours after I took every ones shifts. Then right around the time they hired 3 new employees I noticed that my hours were drastically cut down to 9 hours a week.. and the new employees had over 20.
I was really unhappy about that and started looking for another job right away.
Also what bothered me was the lack of respect in the store, the employees were constantly fighting and making others choose sides and it would go as far as fighting and keying others cars. They would also write nasty things about each other on facebook and bring all the drama into work the second they stepped in the door, and would always say nasty things into the head seats for everyone to hear, and infront of customers. I think everyone in the store wanted to have the last word and cared more about sounding "bad ###" than respectful. Thats why I do not recomend working at Kohls for a long period of time, it's a good first job but not long term.
I hate that my hours were based on how many credits I could get, I have never heard of a store wanting to ruin so many customers credit instead of great customer service

I have been trying to place an online order for over an hour now, and it continues to say that I need to sign up for a Kohl's card first. Are you effing me?!?! I attempted to spend well over $100, with the coupon code saying it was invalid, though it doesn't expire until the 12. One of the more horrible online shopping experiences I've ever had! They should disable this option, since they obviously don't run it correctly!
is it alright for your boss to call you a worthless piece of *? help please read!!?
There is a huge issue in my workplace. Our 01 blatantly degrades supervisors, managers, and associates. Including but not limited to (swearing, threatening, talking trash behind others backs to other associates. Case in point; 1 instance Quote: "you are a waste of my payroll", 2 instance Quote: "Your a worthless piece of ****". The list could go for miles. One girl called Human Recourse's, one week later 01 sat her in her office, threatened her job, and told her that she could do whatever she wanted in her own store. What do I do! Literately she has made a grown 34 year old woman break down and cry because she was under so much duress.
You know what I don't even care about my job anymore, something has to be done! NOW! I work at Kohl's store 1390 in Riverside CA. This is a corporation! How can I fix this? Help me please, help the people I work with.
This did not happen to me. Just to update everyone that has commented. HR took initiative on their own after the actuall person complained. There were multiple people who were harassed. Some of it is on Video! She is in serious trouble, and she is going to find out soon. A few people are on her side but after the entire story is brought to light they'll realize they were wrong.
I believe there's a 1-800 number about integrity and respect that you should be able to find in your break-room. If not, ask HR or LP about it.
That's a corporate directive, and he/she can get in BIG trouble if it's brought to the attention of their higher ups.
Get enough of your coworkers to join forces, be sure to document all of the occurrences, and speak out as a group.
Kohls in MO, same exact thing. The rest of the managers are cool, but the 01 is a dick. A couple of days ago he made a new kid cry over a misunderstanding
no carriages
I am 63 and my mom is 87 and we shop at kohls in faifield ct. they have no carriages. How do they expect us to buy anything. I cant put stuff in a plastic carry, how do you fit anything in there. Most old people also need carriages to walk better when they are purchasing. You are going to lose customers if your carriage problem is not resolved. I have walked out of kohls twice now because they dont have carriages. I have noticed that other kohls customers walking around in the store are griping about the same problem. please look into this matter, thank you!
Every Kohl's I've been to has had carts...
Did you talk to the store manager before posting this? If so, what did he say?
bad customer service
I visited kohls in hendersonville tn. on may 20th. It was my husbands birthday so I was picking up a couple things he wanted. I purchased a metal cooler that was on sale for 164.99 and the antigravity lawn chair on sale for I think about 55.00. O also purchased two shirts for myself 4.00 on clearance. This was a very busy day and I was on my lunch break so was really in a hurry. I didn’t realize that the lady didn’t give me my kohls cash till later that night When I called the next day they pretty much said too bad. Customer service is really bad at kohls.
Try returning everything and re-buying it. Derp
You know why they can't help you? Because if they just gave you that Kohl's cash, they'd be allowing any customer at any time that had earned Kohl's cash to effectively double their Kohl's cash.
All you'd have to say is "Oh, I forgot to grab my Kohl's cash when I was in, can you activate me new cash?" and then come back with both coupons and spend them.
So no.
Also? Kohl's customer service is better than just about anyone else in the business. Try half of the ### I'm sure you usually pull on any other store and see who walks out without a purchase.
victim of racial discrimination
On 6/9/2011. Location: New Albany, Ohio 43230. Kohl’s Store #0329. Decided to go shopping at this Kohl’s department store, which was not my normal location for shopping. However, while I was shopping with my son, I needed to get through a group of customers socializing taking up the whole aisle. Well, I figured that I would wait a few seconds and one of them would notice that I needed to get through. This never happened, eventhough one of the male customers was slightly turned in my direction so he was aware of me standing and waiting with my stroller so I could get through. I was actually on my cell phone, talking to my husband when I said “excuse us”.
They preceded to move, but with a stare like I had done something wrong to them. Then I returned back to my phone conversation, I hear the male blurt out “We weren’t in your way, ###.” And I repeated exactly what he said back to him. I then decided to leave the department, as the group just stares. By then, one of the Kohl’s associates comes the male said that I cursed him out, during this time the rest of his friends leave and go to another department. The associate says, “I’m going to call security and ask for you to leave the premises.” While the male that called me the ### said that he was going to call the police.
I told him to call, and that I’ll wait, because I knew that I was telling the truth as to what had happened. I explained to the associate that I wouldn’t dare curse with my kids in my presence. And that the word that he used wouldn’t have been a word of my vocabulary. By this time, I just wanted to drop the clothes that I was buying and just walk out. But I went to check out instead. Then Kohl’s security comes and pretends to be looking at jewelry until I paid for my items. As I look to where the male customer was I had the altercation with, I noticed the same associate talking privately with him.
What bothers me about the situation that encountered on this day is this: Not one Kohl’s associate came to my defense to see if my son and I were okay. My assumption is this, I’m a African American and the male customer was Caucasian. This automatically triggered to the associate that I was in the wrong which I knew I wasn’t. Her statement “I’m going to call security and have you removed from the premises.” Not even knowing the story as to what led to the altercation. I’ll never EVER shop there at Kohl’s again. They need to learn how to correctly deal with situations like this.
For the record, Kohls Department stores and associates, not all African Americans are liars, stealers and/or mouthy as perceived to be. Some of us do have alot of class to ourselves, money and a education. There can be Caucausians in the world that are ignorant and just observe things as one-sided. This situation was one of them.
Yes, it was racism. Not all, but MOST white people are very racist, but they try to be sneaky about it. Look at how they are all hammering this woman who was a VICTIM! So she was talking on the cellphone. So the hell what! Do you know how many people talk on the phone in stores? If I could get a dollar for everyone I saw talking on a cellphone in a store, I would be friggin' rich! Its not like she ran into the group of people who were standing in a group, nor was she being rude. She DID say "excuse us, " because they were blocking her. You know what else...if the roles were reversed and this was a white woman, and the people doing this to her were Black, you people would take the white woman's side. The fact that they called security? PURELY, and CLEARLY racist! What reason did they have to call security? What kind of threat did this woman WITH HER BABY pose? NONE! You white people are so slick. Getting at her for playing the "race card?" Well, sometimes, you have to call it for what it is, and the Kohl's associates were the racist ones here. All this woman wanted to do was buy some clothes and go home. I strongly doubt that she would go to KOHL'S to start trouble. You people are silly. LOL!
Oh lord. Every time a wrong is done to a black person by a white person, it's automatically racism.
Not everything is about race. YOU'RE the one that makes it about race. Every time you pull the race card out of your deck, you perpetuate stereotyping and racism.
Yeah, perhaps the associate was in the wrong...but let's be honest here...
The other customer told the associate what happened. They got to the associate first. I'd be inclined to believe whoever told me their side of the story first...especially since most people are inclined to lie to protect themselves when they're being accused.
Why don't you chalk it up to a bad day and let it go?
It's not any different than if I was walking down a busy street, got shoved, and then cursed out. It sucks, but you live with it. You're not always gonna be believed, and you won't always be right.
First you state that you repeated EXACTLY what the guy said to you, back to him. That would include the word "###". Then you tell the associate that you wouldn't dare curse in front of your child and the word "###" is not in your vocabulary. I think there is a mixed up story here somewhere.
horrible customer service
I'm a Kohl's employee. One particular night, my fiance had purchased an expensive item but forgot to use her "Kohl's Cash". The assistant manager, Marissa, told her to go to Customer Service for an adjustment. She did just that, but the customer service rep, Lori, flat out refused to make the adjustment, and was VERY RUDE AS WELL! My fiance then told her she needs an attitude adjustment if she wants to work in customer service, to which Lori replied, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" So my fiance had to go back to the register, where they had to do a refund, then ring up the purchase again. I didn't think much of it at the time, telling my fiance that Lori is rude to EVERYONE -- employees and customers alike.
A few days later, I was called into the manager's office (Tori), and she proceeded to accuse me of negligence in my work, first telling me I was leaving work early, not helping my coworkers, then that I don't finish my work and leave some behind for the day people. Little did I realize at the time that Tori and Lori are good buddies. That tells me this -- LORI'S RUDE BEHAVIOUR AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS ARE CONDONED BY MANAGEMENT AT THE KOHL'S IN PEMBROKE! Not only that, but Tori also told me that my fiance is NOT ALLOWED IN THE STORE WHILE I'M WORKING, BECAUSE SHE'S "A DISTRACTION". This is total BS!
A few weeks later, my fiance drove me to work, and then was shopping for a dress in the Women's Dept. I work in the Men's Dept. However, Ryan, the assistant manager, came up to her, asked if she was done shopping, then TOLD HER TO GET OUT OF THE STORE! THIS KIND OF TREATMENT TO CUSTOMERS IS UNACCEPTABLE! We've spent hundreds of dollars in Kohl's, but they obviously don't care!
Just recently, the other assistant manager, Tom, spent a great deal of time FOLLOWING MY FIANCE AROUND THE STORE -- EVEN WAITING OUTSIDE THE LADIES ROOM! He didn't say a word, just followed her around -- a form of SILENT HARASSMENT!
I decided I had had enough and after 4 years of loyal service, made the decision NOT TO RETURN THERE AGAIN! I am going to miss my coworkers, as well as my supervisor, Anne, all who were very, very nice.
Bottom line: THE PEMBROKE KOHL'S CONDONES RUDE AND NASTY BEHAVIOR BY THE BEAST IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! DO NOT SHOP THERE!
Both your fiance and Kohl's needs to be criminally charged, Kohl's for hiring a child. There are child labor laws and your fiance for having a relationship with a child. Then again your fiance sounds like a child themselves so only Kohl's should be charged. How do I know you are a child, you mistake being told no as rudeness. You say that you worked there for four years so if you are the age you act you pratically worked there your whole life.
I worked at Kohls for less than 3 months, then quit. It is horrific how they treat employees (and lie to customers about great deals etc).
intensive investigation before releasing order
I only used my Kohls' Credit Card on special occasions, paying off the charges in full before receiving their invoice. On 7/23/11 I logged onto its Web Site to order a gift card for $150.00 for our grandchildren to buy their school clothes. The charge immeditely showed up as a debit, however, I received an email, that the order process is being delayed without any reason given. Being curious why it's bein delayed, I contacted Kohls and after two transfers was connected to [protected], its "Corporate Fraudent Activity Department". I then was intensively investigated by them asking my DOB, SS#, Address, my and our son's email addresses and his name. Only after going through this degrading process, was my Gift Card Order accepted and sent on to our son. I never defrauded anybody, and Kohls did the investigation in very poor taste, assuming that all of its customers are criminals. They should be sued for invasion of privacy and failure to disclose their procedures.
And yet...if you had been the victim of identity theft, you would have IMMEDIATELY jumped down Kohl's throats about not being more careful about the way they handle cards.
Yeah, perhaps it was a little embarrassing...but wouldn't you rather be embarrassed than be the victim of thousands of dollars of credit card fraud? Use your head.
return policy
My mom and I went shopping at Kohls. We experienced bad customer service in the past numeral times and this is the last straw!
Here is our story:
My mom went to the jewerly department and returned earings that she bought on sale. She recieved about $60.00 back. Then we went shopping for about an hour, bought our stuff, but decided that she really regretted returning them. We went back to the jewerly department and the lady there was extremely rude. She told my mom that she would have to buy the earings for $100, when she just returned them only an hour before! Jeez! The lady's tone was really bad also. It was like that she didn't want us their to shop and look around.
Also, she was extremely ticked off that my mom was wishy-washy about which earings she wanted to buy. She couldn't decide what she wanted and was taking only about 10 minutes of her time.
The lady explained that she could only give my mom the current sale price, instead of the discount price, which was fine on my book; after all it's company rules. That was fine on my book. My mom is not from this country so attempted to haggle which was going on for about 5 minutes. Well, the lady had the audacity to look at me straight in the eye and said in a menacing voice, "Explain to her that I cannot do that."
If the lady was nicer about her inability to give my mom her deal, my mom could have spent a lot of money on different jewerly.
The lady wasn't just rude to us. There was two other people that were waiting for her and she gave them the cold shoulder. I think they left. When they asked for help, she told them so coldly, "I'm with a customer right now. I will be with you shortly."
On her name tag said that she worked at Kohls for 10 years or so. I cannot believe she kept a job that long with her attitude!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
In my opinion as a real online personal jeweler, RUDE is what you make it when it comes to customer service, and the customer is not always right when it comes to customer service either.
Large department stores are not going to forget about everyone else just to deal with you, so sometimes you're going to have to accept that there are other people in the same store with you, who are trying to spend their money as well, so learn to be a little more patient and wait til your turn comes around again with the salesperson.
Perhaps you and your mom were acting like ###.
security
I had been followed by security in the women's department at Kohl's one to many times. I confronted the woman and asked her if she worked at Kohl's because I knew she had been following me. She laughed unusually loud. I asked her to return my items to the proper rack because I was leaving. I was very upset and insulted. I decided to call the store manager and ask what I was doing wrong. Here is a list of his comments: You have to believe me, we have no store security. We have store security but it is a man. We have store security but it is a man and it is not me. I am telling you the truth, we have no store security. Are you sure you were at the St. Peter's store? Repeat three times. And my favorite, IT WAS ALL IN YOUR HEAD.
My comment to him - If I believe you then I have to say it is dangerous for women to shop at your store. A woman in your store that was not an employee repeatedly followed me. He had no comment. He then asked for a description of the women: 5' 3", medium build, Capri pants, very short hair, 55 to 60 years old, heavy sandals - I forgot to mention severely dry skin and that I was raised in a police family.
I will cancel my Kohl's charge and never go back. Why would I. I am still upset.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Raised in a police family, you are practically an FBI agent. You could be on their dry skin team. Seeing your post no wonder someone was following you.
buyer beware
I purchased earrings at Kohls that were marked as ¼ carat diamond and 14-carat gold. When I took them home and put them on, my ears turned red and I realized the stems weren’t gold. I took them back as Kohls advertises they take back anything anytime. They told me the diamonds didn’t test real so they can’t take them back. I couldn’t believe it! I am not a jeweler I wouldn’t know if the diamonds were real or not, but I do know that is the earrings they sold me. Apparently they are not gold and not diamonds. I feel cheated.
Please explain the thought behind using Kohls cash. On promotion days, you advertise For each $50 I spend, I receive $10 Kohls cash. However when I use the kohls cash, it is reduced by the discount coupon I have. Nowhere on your website or fine print does it say that this happens. You just advertise $10 Kohls cash. So if I use a 30% discount my "$10" KC is now $7. If you advertise $10 why do you reduce it? Furthermore if I return something on my original receipt that I received the KC with, I am credited less $10 and not the actual $7 you discounted. Is this legal to do? It sounds like false advertising. You are scamming a lot of unknowing people. Please explain.
Kohls makes it so inconvenient to pay on your Kohls charge: You can't pay with your debit card online or in the store; they want a routing/bank number online, but good luck actually accessing your account online, and why don't they accept a debit card in store? I'll tell you why. They want to make it as inconvenient as possible so you will be late paying and they can screw you will late fees. Oh, and they'll send your account to collections, gleefully, and for such trivial amounts it's shocking. Deliberately screwing over consumers every day, that's what Kohls does best. Can't wait for the class action law suits for the over charging of interest and fees. Do yourself a favor and avoid this deceitful company.
I went holiday shopping today an Kohls and the lines were just too long. They really need to staff the place better to keep the lines moving so people can get their shopping done fast and not have to be on long lines during the season.
I purchased some things from kohls. with the kohls charge card.I get the statement and pay online. Two weeks later, no notification that it went though. So, to avoid interest charges, I send them a check. Two weeks after that they take the money out of the account and then cash the check. Now I am charged $34 for overdraft protection. Here I am trying to avoid interest charges, and then they double dip my funds, without notification. I called them and asked why they cashed the check after they take money out of my account without notifying me that they did and all they had to say was, If you sent me a check, I would cash it too. Thanks Kohls.
I ordered 8 sweaters from Kohls' online. When I received the package, I opened it to find the sweaters were all just thrown into the box. There was no packaging material to even attempt to protect the merchandist. I couldn't enjoy pulling them out of the box because they were sooooooooooooooooooooooooooowrinkled. So before I wear them, they'll all have to be steamed. I've never seen anything like it. They were just thrown in the box. Kohls' has the worst shipping department EVER and I've ordered a lot of merchandise online! Especially not their clothes because it's obvious they do not care!
Today is the worst exp i hav ever had. the lady at the watch selling place is abrupt and rude. She is there to sell the watches but she does hav any answer for any question. She is like I dont know for the question how long the battery of the watch running or how long the watch has been displayed. She doesnt have an idea bt the warranty itself. Pity Kohls. been a very good customer for kohls for many years. Not anymore !
Received a set of earings for my birthday which was in November. Earrings were bought in Houston Tx. Went home to Las Vegas. Had the earrings for a few weeks when the stone fell out. My daughter bought the earrings but did not keep the receipt. She couldnt find it. On Dec 30th went to Kohls in Las Vegas with the defective earrings Store Clerk found exact earrings with a price of 60.00. We did an even exchange. Got the new earrings home put them in ears. Had them in 30 seconds tops. When again same problem the stone fell out. Took those back and the store clerk would not give me an even exchange or a gift card in the amount of 60.00. She stated that without the original receipt the price would be 25.98. So kohls has kept appox 40.00 of daughters money and this with no earrings. They also refused when I went in on Dec 30 to let me pay an additional 5.00 to upgrade to different earrings. Had to be an even exchange which I did. Question WHen the second pair was defective why didnt Kohls honor the even exchange receipt for the 60.00? The clerk and store manager said that wasnt their policy and they were rude. I feel cheated and frankly robbed for 40.00. Will not shop there ever again.
I purchased a matress topper from kohls and received a 20% discount. I then called Kohls a week later to ask a question about my credit card and they offered me an additional 15% off my matress topper if I purchased 2 pillows. I took the offer and purchased the two pillows. I never received the 15% discount and everytime I call they advise me the request has been denied...WHAT? They offered me the additional 15% discount. How can it be denied? Now Im stuck with two pillows (that were over priced anyways) and it is too late to return them. What a scam...I'm on the phone as I am typing this email and have been waiting for 50 mins. RIDICULAS!
Is this refund transaction within Kohls Policies for refunds and good Customer Service? I explained that I paid in CASH (After the Kohls Discount Card was deducted from the balance) and would like CASH refunded. Kohls CSR stated that I did not understand; since I used a Kohls Gift Card I must get a Kohls Gift Card for the same amount. After debating this point, the Kohls CSR repeatedly said that this is what her computer showed and “the computer does not lie.” After speaking with 2 CSRs I tried to find some Christmas gifts within Kohls to use the card. I did not find anything within the Kohls store that I wanted to purchase and now wish to take my business and money elsewhere.
"Can't wait for the class action law suits for the over charging of interest and fees. Do yourself a favor and avoid this deceitful company."
Can you help any reader to understand why you feel they were deceitful? Were they deceitful about any of the following when you agreed to signing up for card:
- The interest rate.
- The payment terms.
questionable customer service
This is to share my dissatisfaction with the purchasing visit at the store located in Groton, CT today. Prior to the visit to the store, I called the store and talked with Shannon, men's apparel department. I explained to her that I wanted to use a 20% coupon, received via mail, toward the purchase of athletic socks for my son. I clearly explained that my...
Read full review of Kohl'skohl's cash
I purchased some items from Kohl's which totaled $57.59 before tax. At the time they were giving $10 Kohl's cash for every $50.00 or more that was spent, so I received my $10 Kohl's cash. The same day I went back to exchange one of the items I purchased and I was told I would have to do a return because the item I wanted to exchange was more money then the new item. So they returned the one item which was $29.99 before tax, and then rang up the new item which was $24.99 before tax. About a week later I went in and purchased a shirt for my husband and handed the cashier my $10 Kohl's cash, when she scanned the Kohl's cash coupon she told me it was voided because I made a return which changed the amount that I spent. So I went home and totaled up my receipt of the original purchase, minus the item I returned, and added in the item that I had replaced it with. The total amount I spent was $52.59 before tax! I had still spent $50 or more which would earn me my Kohl's cash and they voided it out! It is a scam, and I honestly have no desire to spend another dime at that store. I am not going to drive back there just to argue with someone over my $10.00 because it is a waste of gas, and my time. This shouldn't have even happened in the first place!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I was in the store on 02/20/11 after driving round trip
59 miles to buy over $600.00 Worth Of Stuff Because
it was on sale & I had a 20% Discount if I used my kohl's
charge account. I explained I had forgot my 20% discount and was told I could use it if I come back the next day with it and could still get my Kohls Cash the next day. I return on 02/21/11 with my 20% Discount
and purchased $612.01 Worth of stuff on sale & discounted Which comes to $332.63 so I should get $60.00 In Kohls Cash. Then The Manager Tells Me The Kohls Cash Expired Yesterday On 02/20/11. I explain what I Was Told Yesterday So He agrees to Give Me The
Kohls Cash of $60.00. Now he opens his Drawer And Tells me he Has no Kohls Cash in the drawer so he Can't do it. So Now I am Very Upset And He Refuses To Do Anything After Getting Me To Charge $332.63. I Can't
Understand This And Am Ready To Return Everything.
Yes, it was voided out. Because the ORIGINAL transaction, where the Kohl's Cash was EARNED was brought under $50.
In the future, when you make a purchase that would put your pre-tax, post-discount total above $50, be sure to ask the cashier to combine your receipts for you. We're more than happy to activate you a new Kohl's Cash.
As for the current predicament? Next time you're in, just ask to speak to a manager and explain (calmly, please) what happened. See if there's anything they can do for you.
WOW! You are complaining about something that you want to get for free... You forget YOUR coupon and you take it out on the poor girl/boy at the register for not bending over and being raped by your greed. You spend $300 to get $60 free dollars, and can't abide by sale dates. Is it Kohl's fault your uncoordinated and forgetful? AND they offered to give you something in such a rush that they didn't even realize they didn't have to coupon to offer you physically, because mentally they were pissing themselves from your aggressiveness toward them. Get laid, miss, because i'm sure you're female (as am I before you say a thing), and find something better to do with your money... like donating to the Red Cross? Nah, they don't offer free coupons...
Wow your just like my wife it is on sale so buy it, you received aprox. 45% off and your still upset.
Ouch you would have saved more money by not spending in the first place, that would have been 100% off.
My wife uses that same tactic with me, I had to spend more because it was on sale aarrrgggg. Your playing right into the problem here in America, they say sale and we all run. So what were you buying at Kohls that was priced at $600.00 and they could affectively sell it at such a huge discount and still make money. My bet is that you could have saved by buying closer to home and using a smart phone.
You should have just charged it on the 20th, then taken your receipt back to customer service to get your discount adjusted...
It seems like a mis-communication to me.
Maybe call up corporate and see what they have to say about it? Clearly the store you went to wasn't ready to help you...
discrimination
On 6/9/2011 Location: New Albany, Ohio 43230 Store #0329 Decided to go shopping at this store, which was not my normal location for shopping. However, while I was shopping with my son, I needed to get through a group of customers socializing taking up the whole aisle. Well, I figured that I would wait a few seconds and one of them would notice that I...

I have filed a case with the eeoc back in Sept 07 I was just fire on 2/4/08 for basically no reason they said in the write up that I did not do what was asked of me which I did and have e-mails to prove it, they said I used unprofessional language by using the word coward and for pointing my finger at the store manager for telling me to (shut up) This was a plan by my supervisor and the regional manager and the district HR manager to push me out they have tried on many occasion to make me quick and pushing my buttons now we have a new white manager she has teamed up with the rest to get me out of the store. I have been on write ups for situations that were ok'd and still been written up for them. I have constantly complained through the chain of command and been punished for it and singled out. I had peers ask for my help and they were told no James will not be a good source to help. I have never been asked to attend a mangers development class or round table but white peers who I have been there longer than and more productive than they are were asked and sent to these classes. My district manager and the regional manager and hr manager all three have a past relationship from a previous company and there fore I believe my complaints against my manager were not taken seriously. There is a situation where I told my manager a shoplifter's mother who was black wanted to speak with him about the case and to see if the charges could be dropped he said no. Now another case same situation the family was white and he told the loss prevention supervisor in that case was told to drop the charges. I then caught an associate that came with the new store manager from another store stealing; on 2/1/08 I got her live leaving the store with shoes she did not pay for. Now she is back at work after the blacks I caught stealing got fire and could not return there is also a case in which a white female got caught stealing and her parents complained and the charges were dropped so she would not have a criminal record. Blacks asks if I can drop charges the answer is no but this white female they gladly drop charges. I CAN NOT AFFORD A LAWYER AND ALL WANT UP FRONT PAYMENT. Now the EEOC has pushed me away due to them trying to cover up wrongdoing by there employees and not investigating my case and solely going on what Kohl's had told them.
Kohl"s should be watched for thier unfair treatment of employees. not giving any hours for weeks at a time, while still hiring new employees. it seems they are trying to act as if they are stimulating the economy which in fact they really hurt it by not giving thier current employees hours. they should just go out of business and do us all a favor.
cheated
Kohl's has an interesting way of rewarding its frequent credit card shoppers. It gives out Kohl's Cash. But, beware of the manner in which they apply the Cash to your purchases. It is criminal!
Instead of applying the Cash as a tender (payment), Kohl's uses it as a discount BEFORE other coupons are applied. All other retailers who say you have $10 off something, actually give you $10 off at the END of the transaction. It is applied toward the bottom line payment. Kohl's does not.
My purchases totalled $19.89 after using a 20% off card they mailed me. When I tried to pay that $19.89 with two $10 Kohl's Cash coupons, all of a sudden I owed THEM $2.62 more. Interesting accounting methods.
Also, they send out these Percent Off cards supposedly to frequent shoppers. But, if a customer shows up in the store without one, they give that person a scratch off that is often better than the cards mailed out. What is that about?
The Kohl's Cash promo states $10 in Cash for every $50 purchase. I attempted to separate my items at checkout so that I would have multiple $10 coupons. The cashier told me not to bother - that I would get one for every $50 I spent. So, my total that day was $101.87, but only ONE $10 Cash certificate was awarded. Either incompetence or outright lies!
About once a year, I get so mad at something Kohl's does - usually because an employee gives me incorrect info or a product doesn't hold up, that I decide not to shop with them again. Somewhere along the way, I must forget and back I go. But, this time, I am done! No more shopping at Kohl's. I'm going back to Macy's for everything.
Good explanation Aidan. I'm so sick of seeing people on here complain because they didn't have enough good sense to understand the policy's before shopping.
Let's start with your first point. If you read the back of the Kohl's Cash coupon, you will see that it clearly tells you that your percent off will be applied after your dollar off coupon.
As for the scratch offs? Actually, the ones that are mailed out are better than the ones in the store. There's usually three or four 20% off coupons in a pack...and maybe one 30% in the pack. The rest are all 15%. The ones mailed out are predominately 20 and 30 percent offs. And we only give those out to customers who are USING their Kohl's charge.
And as for only getting one $10 coupon? It's awarded after any discounts, before tax. And don't get all upset about that...because when you use the Kohl's Cash, it's taken off of your purchase BEFORE the sales tax. So any tax associated with the balance the coupon took off of your total is also taken off.
skate shoes destroyed within seconds
I recently purchased a pair of Middletown Gray/Purple shoes by Zoo York from Kohls. The shoes are clearly labeled "Skate Shoes" in the shoe section, but after skating in them for about 30 seconds, a hole ripped in the side and cut my foot open. I've never had any problems with other "skate shoes" doing this before, and now I'm unable to skate because of the shooting pain in my right foot, caused by these poorly made shoes. I would like a refund for them.
Take them back. Kohl's has a hassle free return policy, it shouldn't be an issue.
unfair late fees
A Kohl's employee hounded me into getting a credit card that would give a 15% discount and I stupidly gave in. I never went back to Kohl's again. After receiving my first statement, I made my first payment and never made another purchase or received another statement. 8 months later I get a call from the collections department indicating that I owed late fees and interest totally twice my original purchase. I was flabbergasted. Apparently, they could not cash a cheque from Canada (where I live). They made no effort to inform me of this until my account racked up 8 months of fees when they could charge late fees on top of late fees. This has to be illegal.
Customer service has done nothing for me, however, I get several harassing calls a day from the Collection Department. I request that they check into the situation but they never do. Every new caller, like you, is surprised about my situation and promises to look into it. Kohl's is scamming people with false late fees and the harassing phone calls are all part it. If you are honest Kohl's employee then be aware of what the Collections Department is doing. It is scam.
That's...absolutely astounding. I cannot believe that they didn't call you, or write you...they clearly had your address, because you got a statement...and they're more than apt to give out credit cards to Canadian citizens...I've even had a couple from Canada apply and receive a card...
I'm truly sorry this happened to you. Did you speak with customer service to try and get this all sorted out?

My complaint has to do with the checkout, although another aspect. Of course, cashiers were rushed, so this was not the cashier's fault, rather the insistence of Kohl's to only use the credit part of my Visa debit. When it rang up wrong as there were many components to it, coupons, etc., and it was voided the first time, it wasn't able to be voided completely and that original ring up and amount debited is still is showing up at my bank. The cashier rang it up the second time correctly. However, both times are being debited by my bank now, showing up even though the manager near to our area assured me it wasn't going to show both times. She seemed doubtful though, and I know everyone was rushed, but I'm kinda left holding the bag with the money gone from my account, both transactions, one voided supposedly, and one correct, till this rights itself or I am able to talk to the right person to correct the error.
Like you said, you would have been better off turning around and going somewhere else. Black Friday is the busiest day of the year in the retail industry. The employees are sleep deprived and are working as quickly as they can. Don't shop on Black Friday if you expect a speedy checkout.
I don't know why you're upset. Black Friday is always busy. Everywhere. Two hours in line is actually moving pretty quickly. It's not their fault that you chose to wait. They did the best they could with the crowd that came to shop. And why are you only just now posting this? How ridiculous.
